Nicki Minaj & Cardi B Actually Agree On Something: A New AI Regulation Law

Nicki Minaj may be popping off on Megan Thee Stallion right now, but in many’s eyes, her main antagonist as a femcee is Cardi B, and vice versa. Their feud, however vague or subliminal, rages on following years of alleged incidents, battles between their partners, and fanbase clashing. But any two rivals can come together if it’s for the right cause, and they found one in a new bill proposed in the U.S. Congress to regulate artificial intelligence. The bipartisan No Artificial Intelligence Fake Replicas And Unauthorized Duplications Act (“No AI FRAUD”) was introduced in the House on January 10, and Nicki and Cardi joined over 300 other artists and creatives in signing an open letter supporting it.

Furthermore, other big names include 21 S*vage, Chuck D, Common, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott, Questlove, Smokey Robinson, and many more. The “No AI FRAUD” act would federally protect voices and likenesses from unchecked replication with AI technology. The Human Artistry Campaign (H.A.C.) published this letter as a running ad in print editions of USA Today on Friday (February 2). “The No AI FRAUD Act would defend your fundamental human right to your voice & likeness, protecting everyone from nonconsensual deepfakes,” it reads. “Protect your individuality. Support HR 6943.”

Cardi B & Nicki Minaj Join Hundreds Of Artists Seeking AI Regulation

For those unaware, the H.A.C. relayed seven core tenants about this technology back in March of 2023. Of course, these include proper licensing for artistic works used to craft AI models and limitations on the government’s ability to change intellectual property law to provide exploitable exemptions that artificial intelligence developers could take advantage of. Not only that, but this new act follows the “NO FAKES” Act from October of last year. The “No AI FRAUD” Act’s architects are Representatives María Elvira Salazar (R-FL), Rob Wittman (R-VA), Nathaniel Moran (R-TX), Madeleine Dean (D-PA), and Joe Morelle (D-NY).

“It’s time for bad actors using AI to face the music,” Rep. Salazar stated when they announced it. “This bill plugs a hole in the law and gives artists and U.S. citizens the power to protect their rights, their creative work, and their fundamental individuality online.” What’s more is that Tennessee’s Governor Bill Lee proposed similar legislation on the same day: the Ensuring Likeness Voice and Image Security -– or “ELVIS” -– Act). Nevertheless, “No AI FRAUD” received support from many industry titans like the Recording Academy, Universal Music Group, and more. No wonder Cardi B and Nicki Minaj saw eye to eye. HoneyKomb Brazy Hit With Federal Gun Charge Indictment

According to a FOX 10 News report on Friday (January 26), HoneyKomb Brazy was just indicted on federal gun charges soon after his release on bond. Moreover, the rapper (real name Nashon Jones) and his two bodyguards, Miguel Wayne Hall and Mason Demetrius Fuller, were indicted specifically for illegal firearm possession. Furthermore, HoneyKomb and Fuller had restrictions in place preventing them from taking ownership of guns thanks to felony convictions in their past. On the other hand, Hall reportedly got an outright ban concerning firearm possession, stemming from a protection-from-abuse order against him from a Georgia judge.

For those unaware, the Mobile, Alabama MC and his entourage encountered police thanks to a traffic stop on December 18 of last year, which led to their subsequent arrest. Authorities alleged that, when they searched the vehicle, they found a Girsan MC 28 SAC 9mm pistol close to the driver’s seat. Not only that, but they also claimed to find a Smith & Wesson MP 15 AR pistol, Promethazine, and marijuana. As such, HoneyKomb Brazy’s original charges also included possession of a controlled substance and the “certain persons forbidden to possess a pistol” code.

HoneyKomb Brazy Indicted On Federal Gun Charges: Report

When news outlets and the media as a whole picked this up, folks also found out that federal law enforcement quickly involved themselves in this case. For example, a federal agent testified during a preliminary hearing that they monitored HoneyKomb Brazy before this arrest. This owed itself to his relation to multiple investigations in years prior, and he announced plans to take this to trial. Brazy reportedly saw freedom from jail in November of last year following 48 months served for possessing a gun as a person with a felony history.

Meanwhile, this development comes after he also spoke on other cases or legal actions within the rap world. Most recently, the Alabama artist walked back his accusation that Finesse2tymes snitched, which he did around the same time that folks found out that the feds were on him for some time. Hopefully this all clears up and he can focus on what he currently faces, not what already resolved. For more news and the latest updates on HoneyKomb Brazy, come back to HNHH.

Quando Rondo Arrested On Federal Drug Charges: Report

According to WJCL, the FBI arrested Quando Rondo on federal drug charges on Friday (December 8). Moreover, an agency spokesperson told the outlet that police in Savannah, Georgia– his hometown– pulled over a vehicle at Burroughs Street and 37th Street around midnight. Reports indicate that they only arrested the rapper, who was the passenger, and that this occurred without incident. Rondo, real name Tyquian Bowman, just recently dodged a ban from his home of Chatham County, so this is just the latest in a troublesome and unfortunate series of legal issues for him. Not much else emerged about his current condition or response to this development at press time.

Furthermore, this arrest comes about six months after authorities indicted Quando Rondo and 18 other individuals on state drug and gang charges. Specifically, he faced accusations of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act by allegedly managing the Rollin’ 60’s gang in the area. Not only that, but the Never Broke Again affiliate also received charges for supposedly using communication illegally, as he allegedly used a phone to organize the sale of marijuana. As such, while this case went quiet for a little bit following his release on bond, it seems like prosecutors still want to take it to court with more evidence.

Crip Mac Arrested, Faces Federal Gun Charges

When Crip Mac went to Los Angeles County court on Tuesday (December 5), he ran into an unexpected problem. A judge agreed to drop gun charges against him stemming from a September 3 arrest for being a person with felony convictions in possession of a firearm. However, according to Billboard and an alleged indictment and court records, U.S. Marshals arrested N3on’s rival seconds after the judge ruled this. While the state charges were no more, they moved his case up to federal court and the U.S. Attorney’s office. Currently, the South Los Angeles resident and expectant father is reportedly held in pretrial detention, and his next scheduled hearing is set to take place on Monday (December 11).

Furthermore, shortly before the Marshals took Crip Mac in, the court looked at a two-month-old indictment against him. The For The Love Of Lena contestant faced charges of possession of an unregistered weapon and ten rounds of ammunition, which is especially illegal with his history of felony convictions. “Defendant possessed such ammunition knowing that he had previously been convicted of at least one of the following felony crimes,” the indictment read.

Crip Mac’s Gun Charges Move Up To Federal Level

What’s more is that he was also arrested on similar charges in July of 2022 and October of 2021. Crip Mac’s other arrests include for attempted second-degree armed robbery in November of 2017, grand theft in August of 2015, and transportation of a controlled substance in October of 2014. A California attorney unrelated to the No Jumper guest‘s case, spoke to Billboard about how this arrest, moving from state to federal jurisdiction, is common. “Sometimes, local authorities become frustrated by lenient sentencing for people who are prolific [offenders], so they request the feds review for prosecution,” Briggs explained. “This puts more prison time in the discussion.

“The worst case is he gets folded into a larger gang conspiracy and RICO case involving murders,” he continued. “In that case, it’s likely life in prison. It’s possible, depending on the specific facts of his case, he could do 10 years [for just the gun charges]. It depends on various individual factors.” We’ll see what will happen to the good friend of Adam22 in the coming weeks. For more news and the latest updates on Crip Mac, stay up to date on HNHH.

U.S. Senators Propose Federal Bill Banning A.I. Vocal Use Without Permission

After all the controversy, a bipartisan bill in Congress currently in discussion draft form might result in the banning of AI-generated vocals. Moreover, Senators Coons, Blackburn, Klobuchar, and Tillis proposed the Nurture Originals, Foster Art, and Keep Entertainment Safe Act (NO FAKES) on Thursday (October 12). Specifically, this bill would ban the unauthorized use of someone’s replicated vocals by artificial intelligence for another’s personal gain. In addition, the replicator would be liable to damages that the original person suffers as a result of this practice. However, there are still some exceptions in the bill that protect First Amendment rights of free speech, such as AI vocals for parody, commentary, or criticism purposes.

“Generative AI has opened doors to exciting new artistic possibilities, but it also presents unique challenges that make it easier than ever to use someone’s voice, image, or likeness without their consent,” Senator Coons stated. “Creators around the nation are calling on Congress to lay out clear policies regulating the use and impact of generative AI, and Congress must strike the right balance to defend individual rights, abide by the First Amendment, and foster AI innovation and creativity. I am thankful for the bipartisan partnership of Senators Blackburn, Klobuchar, and Tillis as we work to protect all individuals from unauthorized replication and ensure that the United States sets clear rules governing the intersection of AI and intellectual property.”

“Songwriters, actors, and our incredibly talented creative community deserve the right to own their name, image, and likeness (NIL),” Senator Blackburn expressed. “This legislation is a good first step in protecting our creative community, preventing AI models from stealing someone’s NIL. [It ensures] that those rights are given primary consideration under the law. I look forward to joining Senator Coons and my colleagues in the Senate and House to develop strong bipartisan legislation we can pass into law.” “More and more, we’re seeing AI used to replicate someone’s likeness and voice in ads, images, and videos without consent or compensation. Our laws need to keep up with this quickly evolving technology,” Senator Klobuchar added. “We must put in place rules of the road to protect people from having their voice and likeness replicated through AI without their permission.”

“While AI presents extraordinary opportunities for technological advancement, it also poses some new problems, including the voice and likeness of artists being replicated to create unauthorized works,” Senator Tillis remarked. “We must protect against such misuse. I’m proud to co-introduce this draft legislation to create safeguards from AI and protect the authentic work of these artists.” Meanwhile, for more news and updates on artificial intelligence in music, log back into HNHH.

Finesse2tymes Arrested On Federal Warrant From 2018

Memphis rapper Finessee2tymes has reportedly been arrested on an outstanding federal warrant from 2018. Finesse himself reported his arrest, making several Instagram posts from the back of a police car. “These folks won’t me be great. Just came to lock me up for a warrant in 2018. I’ll be back yaw,” Finessee wrote. “What don’t break nyga make a nyga,” he added. “I’m outnumbered I gotta against the Feds, AND the opps,” he concluded. At this time, it is unknown what charges Finesse is facing, or where he was booked.

Of course, this is just the latest arrest for Finesse. His criminal history dates back as far as 2017, when he was jailed in Arkansas for a nightclub shooting. Meanwhile, he briefly had a federal warrant out on him earlier this year. He had been accused of stealing a rental car in Houston. However, the charges in that case were later dropped.

Finesse Gets Little Sympathy For Arrest

However, there was little love for Finesse in the comments of The Shade Room post that broke the news of his arrest. “Back there looking desperate for attention and musty…..,” wrote one user. “Tryna blame them for a warrant you had from 2018 is wild you got money handle that shit im convinced these n*ggas love jail,” added another. “Not this grown ass man really recorded himself in the back of the cop car, then with his two feet together in his sappats!!! Chile something is really wrong with this age of time fr. Should’ve been calling his lawyer on the low instead of flexing for the gram smh,” chided a third.

Finesse is a polarizing figure in the rap community, to say the least. Despite being named to XXL‘s Freshman Class of 2023, Finesse struggles to be seen as legit or garner any widespread respect. He recently got a wave of backlash after boldly claiming himself to be a hybrid of 50 Cent, Yo Gotti, and Gucci Mane. While Finesse was likely referring to his particular musical style, people say it as an arrogant and overly ambitious comparison. However, we’ll keep you updated with any more details about his most recent arrest.
