Nevertheless, not all the attention coming from his ongoing case has been flattering.

Apart from discovering his music, internet sleuths have also unearthed 2015 interrogation footage that shows the Florida native speaking with police about an unrelated incident. Meanwhile, next week holds some very crucial discussions for this situation, as the 24-year-old’s lead attorney requested a mistrial. It seems like this is based on evidence the state presented that the defense finds to be prejudicial, or rather irrelevant to the facts of the case and instead merely causing negative bias against the defendant. Boosie Badazz has developed an unexpected interest recently. It seems he now wants to pursue a career in law. This comes after he attended the murder trial of YNW Melly. In an Instagram post following the second day of the trial, Boosie shared his newfound knowledge from the courtroom. He also expressed his aspirations in the legal field. “THIS SHIT IS EDUCATION NO [cap] WATCHING THE DEFENSE N PROSECUTION DROP BARS,” the rapper wrote. However, Boosie’s presence at the trial did not receive a warm welcome from everyone. The father of one of the alleged victims criticized Boosie for supporting Melly. He also expressed his disapproval in a video, calling out those who advocate for Melly’s release.

The double murder trial of YNW Melly began on Monday. The case relates to the deaths of YNW Juvy and YNW Sackchaser in 2018. Federal agents took Boosie Badazz into custody yesterday after his appearance in court. He was present for a recent gun case. Luckily for him, that particular case was dismissed. Sadly, it was not the end of his worries. Federal agents arrested Boosie outside the courtroom. However, the specific reasons for his arrest are not clear at this time. Last month, Boosie pleaded not guilty to the charges he was facing. They stemmed from a traffic stop in San Diego.

During the hearing, Boosie faced several gun-related charges. These included possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, possessing ammunition as a prohibited person, and being an unregistered owner of a firearm. If convicted, Boosie could have been sentenced to a maximum of three years in prison. After his initial arrest, he was released on bond. On Thursday (June 15), the prosecution called Melly’s ex-girlfriend’s mother to the stand. During her testimony, the woman made it abundantly clear that she wasn’t feeling entirely comfortable speaking about the incident, but doesn’t want to lie on the stand and go to jail as a result. “I’m saying what you want me to say,” the witness stated earlier this afternoon. “I do remember that they bullied me and threatened my daughter,” she specifically noted of the law enforcement they dealt with after the murders of YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser.

When asked how she was feeling on the stand, Melly’s ex’s mother replied, “Not good… I feel threatened.” Upon spotting the Florida-born rapper in the courtroom she smiled at him, according to Twitter reports from correspondent Cathy Russon. “To be clear… She doesn’t want to be there testifying for the State,” the journalist added in another post while covering today’s proceedings.

On the fourth day of YNW Melly’s double murder trial, his case took an interesting and possibly foreboding turn. Moreover, correspondent Bryson “Boom” Paul reported via Twitter that the rapper’s lead attorney, David A. Howard, requested a mistrial in the case. It’s unclear, at least based on Paul’s initial report, what the motive behind the motion was. Other reports suggest that the mistrial was suggested by the defense after the state brought in evidence that caused too much prejudice in the trial. For those unaware, this refers to evidence that does not further the facts of the case, but rather creates a bias in favor of or in this case against the defendant.

In any case, it seems like the involvement of family members, ex-girlfriends, leaked DMs, and more have cause the jury to become too tainted in the defense’s eyes. Furthermore, Paul reported that Judge Murphy III took the motion for a mistrial under advisement. The court will discuss on Tuesday, June 20 once trial resumes. YNW Melly is currently one of Hip Hop’s most watched trials, as the double murder trial is being livestreamed from the courtroom, with the antics from the defendant and his attorneys receiving the most attention.On day one, the lawyer for YNW Melly was shown trying to mask her conversation with her client with a “evil plans and stuff notebook”. Now, Melly himself is being scrutinized for praying before blowing a kiss during court proceedings.

Around the 40 second mark of the above news clip, Melly, whose given name is Jamell Demons, can be seen in what appears to be meditative prayer with his hands clasped before blowing a kiss and extending his arms out.
