Tory Lanez’s New Trial Motion Denied, Rapper’s Attorneys Seeks To Have Judge Dismissed

Despite his attempts to plead with Judge David Herriford to not “ruin his life” ahead of today’s ruling, it’s been decided that Tory Lanez will not receive a retrial in his case with Megan Thee Stallion. The embattled R&B star has been behind bars since late last yea. At the time, he was found guilty of shooting the Houston-born rap diva back in 2020. He’s obviously been maintaining his innocence. Elsewhere, Megan has finally been speaking out about her thoughts on the situation. She recently wrote a lengthy essay for Elle in which she declared her intentions to no longer publicly speak about her trauma.

Word of Lanez’s denial came on Tuesday (May 9), from reporter Meghann Cuniff who previously covered the original proceedings. According to her daily Twitter thread, things were off to a bumpy start at the LA Superior Court. Everyone in attendance was faced with delays, setting an undeniably sour tone. “It’s now 11 and there’s no word at all about when we might get to go into the courtroom for this 10:30 hearing Judge Herriford set yesterday after hearing *five hours* of argument on the motion,” she vented earlier this afternoon.

Tory Lanez Denied Second Trial

Shortly after, Cuniff returned with confirmation of the denied motions, along with some other news. “In a jaw-dropping move, Lanez’s lawyers filed a motion to disqualify Judge Herriford from [the recording artist’s] case,” the reporter dished in a tweet. “Then told the judge they didn’t think he could issue his ruling until the motion was resolved. Herriford disagreed,” her message ended.

Although the news is certainly good for Thee Stallion, who’s looking to put the past behind her, it seems as though the father of one isn’t planning on going down without a fight. His attorneys challenged each one of the seven arguments addressed by Herriford in court and will return later this afternoon to give their final comments. Brent Faiyaz “Fell In Love” With Our “R&B Season” Playlist Update This Week

This week’s R&B Season playlist update has a couple of new singles, a few new projects, and a whole lot of soul. Moreover, our first update of May is helping us say goodbye to spring and usher in a hot and exciting summer for new music. Leading the way is the latest single from Brent Faiyaz, who worked with Marshmello to bring us the wavy “Fell In Love.” Over plucky bass, breezy vocal harmonies, and a more electronic feel by way of the EDM star’s contributions, Brent shines as a crooner and storyteller. It might be a short track, but it’s deliciously sweet in its run.

Next up is R&B legend Omarion, who just dropped his latest album Full Circle: Sonic Book 1. Of course, the project has plenty of highlights, be it the similarly sweet “Candy” or the Riley-assisted “Waiting.” However, we decided to highlight “Girls,” an infectiously funky and fun-loving track. Not only does the star soothe listeners with his melodies and vocal tone, but he also amps it up throughout the cut as well. It just goes to show his versatility and ability to showcase many different lanes at once.

In addition, Jhené Aiko just released her second single of the year following “calm & patient,” increasing hype for her next full-length project. Furthermore, “alive & well (gratitude mantra)” keeps up her previous song’s naming convention while sticking to her mystical strengths. With an angelic vocal delivery and atmospheric pads in the background, the song is more of an experience than just a regular single. Oh, and I forgot to mention: it’s ten minutes long. Aiko reached into her ambient bag, and pulled out a serene soundscape with ease.

Meanwhile, rounding out our update is Reggie Becton, who infused the playlist with a groovy and hard-hitting drum beat. He just dropped Sadboy, Vol. 1, an eight-song offering whose title track landed on our collection. Also, there’s “Pain, no Percocet” on Zenesoul’s latest single, which is as sultry and smooth as R&B jams get. Jamie Foxx’s Condition Remains Unchanged Despite Instagram Update: Report

The better part of the last month has found much of Hollywood showing concern for Jamie Foxx. He’s been in the hospital recovering from a health scare for the past three weeks. The multi-talent was on the set of his latest Netflix project when a medical complication caused him to reportedly have to be revived and immediately taken in for further treatment. It remains unclear exactly what ailment Foxx is suffering from, though it’s obviously serious. Thankfully, after worrying the world due to a lack of information, his Instagram feed lit up with a message earlier this week.

“Appreciate all the love!!!” the “Gold Digger” hitmaker – or his team – wrote over a black screen, “Feeling blessed 🙏🏿❤🦊.” Of course, the good news relieved some of the stress friends, fans, and family have been feeling. However, according to Page Six, Foxx’s health may not have improved much at the time the post was shared. An insider told the outlet, “Nothing had changed. He was still in the same condition,” when the update was sent out.

Elsewhere, Kevin Hart shared some of the conflicting information he’s received on the Impaulsive podcast on Wednesday (May 3). The comedian noted that he doesn’t know the “exact details” of what’s happening with Foxx. Still, he said there’s been “a lot of progression” in his longtime friend’s case. Hart further explained that things have been kept so tight because “Jamie’s always been a private person to a certain degree.”

“Everybody’s prayers, everybody’s love, energy – all that stuff is seen and felt,” the father of four added, urging followers to continue sending their well wishes and good energy the 55-year-old’s way. He won’t be returning to the upcoming season of Beat Shazam to host alongside his daughter, Corrine Foxx. Nick Cannon will be stepping in as guest host in his pal’s absence. The embattled actor is facing accusations of attacking a woman in a cab. Of course, his legal team has maintained his innocence since the story first broke. In addition to that, the 33-year-old has been dropped by his management team. He also will no longer be attending the upcoming Met Gala. In recent days, a handful of other women have come forward with allegations aimed at Majors, causing further turmoil to unravel in his life. “It’s no surprise that his phone is ringing much less these days.
