$uicideboy$ Respond To Fan Backlash After Linking Up With Drake

$uicideboy$ have built a dedicated fanbase over the last decade. The duo made up of Scrim and Ruby da Cherry have been dropping prolifically since 2014. Even more important than their prolificness, though, is their rebellious attitude. $uicideboy$ don’t care what the mainstream thinks, and the fans love them for it. This baseline appeal is what makes the latest $uicideboy$ controversy so bizarre. The duo posed for pics with Drake on September 24. The fans didn’t like it, and now Scrim and Ruby are criticizing their fans.

The whole thing started innocently enough. Drake posted the $uicideboy$ photos on his Instagram, with a caption that praised both rappers. “What a show,” the 6 God wrote. “That sh*t made me reflective and proud of the journey for all of us.” The fans were instantly put off by the notion of their beloved indie duo rubbing shoulders with the posterchild for pop-rap. They took to social media in droves to criticize Scrim and Ruby da Cherry for associating with Drake. Especially in light of the recent L he took in the Kendrick Lamar battle. The duo’s response? “Suck our motherf**king d**k.”

$uicideboy$ Dismissed Their Critics As ‘F**king Losers’

We’re not paraphrasing. $uicideboy$ addressed the backlash during their concert on September 25. They made it clear that they will associate with whoever they please. Even if its someone that doesn’t fit the aesthetic and overall vibe of their music. “They had grown a*s people, taking time out of their lives,” the duo stated onstage. “Writing a whole f**king paragraph about why we shouldn’t be taking pictures with a certain somebody.” The duo turned to each other to express confusion over why such a talking point even matters. They then turned their ire back towards the so-called “grown a*s people.”

“You’re a f**king weirdo,” they stated. “You’re a f**king loser.” $uicideboy$ then took the criticism and applied it to the musical empire that they have been able to build. “If anybody got the nerve to hate on me and this motherf**ker,” Skrim stated. “You just a motherf**king hater.” The concert speech was as thorough a kiss-off to critics as one could imagine. It remains to be seen if $uicideboy$ and Drake will ever link up in the studio. As it stands, though, these two musical forces seem to exist in harmony.

Drakes Poses With The $uicideboy$ & Praises Them For “Reflective” Show

Drake seems to have been having a fun past several days in his hometown of Toronto. Over the last 24 hours or so, there’s a video of him and live streamer Adin Ross making the rounds on social media of them at a nightclub. They have been fans of each other’s work for quite some time, so seeing them link up was a nice sight to see. Additionally, another clip saw Drizzy warming up alongside his teammates and competitors for his basketball tournament at his lavish indoor court. However, that drew more jokes than anything else. Now, there’s some pictures of Drake and the $uicideboy$ drawing some buzz.

This is a pretty unexpected meet up, but part of the reason for it has to do with the fact that the Louisiana rap duo was in Toronto. Currently, the fan-favorite one-two punch of Ruby da Cherry and Scrim is in the midst of their two-month Grey Day tour. It kicked off on August 7 in Nashville and is going to run through November 11 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Just yesterday they were rocking the Scotiabank Arena, and Drake decided to pull and support the veteran tandem.

$uicideboy$ Go Off On “New World Depression” Record “The Thin Grey Line”

The $uicideboy$ are always giving their fans reasons to be hyped beyond belief. The New Orleans, Louisiana underground rap duo have accumulated such a massive following that classifying them as such feels wrong. However, the $uicideboy$ have embraced that persona over the course of their career, even acknowledging it on their new single “The Thin Grey Line”. This is the third in a line of promotional cuts from their upcoming record New World Depression.

It will be their first full-length effort since 2022’s DIRTIESTNASTIEST$UICIDE and the rollout began back in late March. “Us Vs. Them”, the grim and grimy boom-bap lead single produced by $crim, has become quickly beloved by the fans. In fact, it has piled up over 35 million streams in just less than two months. Then, on April 19, $uicideboy$ delivered the lengthy title “Are You Going to See the Rose in the Vase, or the Dust on the Table”.

Now, with the album supposedly going to be due on June 14, the boy$ are back once again with “The Thin Grey Line.” Listeners are already messing with this one too, especially due to $crim’s beat and rapping on the backend. The former is dark, as per usual, but the tones looming in the background are eerie and addicting. Even though the track is just 1:45, the duo makes the most of their scant runtime.

What are your thoughts on “The Thin Grey Line” by $uicideboy$? Is this the best promotional track from New World Depression, why or why not? What is your favorite aspect of it? Are they the best underground artists of all time? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Quotable Lyrics:

Switched out the friendly smile, but a face that reads, “F*** you, pay me” (Two to beam up, Scotty)
Ain’t got rabies, I just overdose off coke and dope, I know they hopе I died (Yeah, yeah)
My back is achin’ from holdin’ thе underground down ever since we dropped “High Tide” (Yeah, sheesh)
Standin’ in my grave like I ain’t 5’9 (Grey)
One more minute ’til the hours done, I’ll take my time (F*** off)
Fake my pride, it’s really all about state of mind

$uicideboy$ Tease Forthcoming LP With “Are You Going To See The Rose In The Vase, Or The Dust On The Table”

The $uicideboy$ have garnered quite the following over the years. The duo of Anthony Mars and Norman Atomic has been going strong since 2014 with a copious number of records and smash tracks to boot. For the Louisiana emo/horrorcore collective, they have not dropped an album since December 16, 2022. That was a collaboration project with Germ. But the $uicideboy$ will be making a solo return soon and they getting ready for it with “Are You Going to See the Rose in the Vase, or the Dust on the Table.”

This is now the second single for their 19th overall project. The first offering, “Us Vs. Them,” dropped back on March 29. The $uicideboy$ went for a grimy boom-bap vibe that sounded like something The Alchemist would craft in the studio. It has become an overnight sensation, already racking up nearly 16.5 million streams at the time of writing.

Listen To “Are You Going To See The Rose In The Vase, Or The Dust On The Table” By $uicideBoy$

As for “Are You Going to See the Rose in the Vase, or the Dust on the Table,” it takes on more of a trap aesthetic. The cowbells and heavy bass have been combo that we have seen used more and more often. It works well here, as the $uicideboy$ rap about drugs, feeling lonely, and wondering if anyone is going to offer support. Their new album New World Depression is due on June 14 and will feature 13 tracks.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Are You Going to See the Rose in the Vase, or the Dust on the Table” by $uicideboy$? Out of the two promotional teasers, which one are you enjoying more and why? Does this get youe excited for their upcoming album New World Depression? Quotable Lyrics:

Got back in the saddle
Moth to the flame, I’m insane, all these voices rattle
Foggin’ up my brain, numb the pain, locked up in my castle
I’m startin’ to unravel, surrounded by all these snakes and jackals
They keep temptin’ me to eat the apple
I need to tie up loose ends, form these threads into a tassel
