Tory Lanez Bail Application Resubmitted With “Nearly Identical” Arguments To Those Previously Rejected

Try as he might to make life in prison look easy, it’s clear that Tory Lanez has one thing on his mind – freedom. Since he was first arrested in late 2022, the Canadian has been fighting to reduce (or entirely avoid) his prison sentence with little luck. Back in September, he was denied bail by a judge, though that’s not stopping him from making yet another attempt. Crime journalist Meghann Cuniff shared the news via Twitter on Tuesday (October 10). She noted that Lanez’s most recent filing isn’t all that different from one that was previously rejected.

“The arguments are nearly identical to the motion Judge Herriford rejected a the Sept. 14 hearing in LA (the one where Lanez called me a googly-eyed b**ch), including the forgoing of any mention of the rehab pushed at sentencing,” the reporter wrote this morning. Rather than seeking traditional treatment for substance abuse, the father of one “wants to rent a home in Los Angeles from a friend who rents ‘ex*tic’ homes and cars.” The letter included in the motion isn’t specifically about the bail request – rather, it’s a character reference from Tory’s sentencing that took place in August.

Tory Lanez Remains Persistent in His Fight for Bail

According to Cuniff, the “Say It” hitmaker’s legal team may be confused. Despite their belief that it would only take “a day or two” to have a hearing scheduled in the appellate court, she thinks the process will be much longer. “I don’t know what that’s based on, but it’s totally false. The appellate court does not hold hearings. There won’t be a hearing on this.”

“Technically, Lanez’s filing should be called a writ petition,” Cuniff went on in another tweet. “It’ll be decided based on the filing like all writ petitions are. (Such as Lanez’s failed appellate writ petition seeking to disqualify Judge Herriford. The appellate court does not hold bail hearings.”

Meghann Cuniff Provides More Updates on the Case

“Appellate court does hear oral argument, and Tory will eventually have oral argument over his yet-to-be-filed appellate brief,” Cuniff further clarified. “But the court does not hold hearings on writ petitions, which is what Lanez’s appeal of his bail motion is. The court will reject it with a line entry.” Do you think that Tory Lanez will ever achieve his objective of securing bail? Tory Lanez Requests Move to General Population in Prison

Screen Shot 2023 09 22 at 9.48.18 AM

Tory Lanez reportedly wants to be moved to the general population. Last week, Lanez was transported to a prison and has been isolated in his cell.

According to TMZ, one of Lanez’s lawyers, Ceasar McDowell, Lanez revealed that he would like to be placed in the general population. Lanez is currently placed in a protective wing for high-profile inmates but wants general treatment.

Lanez currently gets frequent guard checks and escorts to meals but wants to be moved to a more normal treatment. According to McDowell, Lanez believes he can handle himself and thinks he can fit in with prison culture.

In addition, Lanez may want to transition into the general population to take advantage of help and support groups.

After being sentenced to ten years for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez was sent to North Kern State Prison in Delano, California, which is been known to be one of the most murderous prisons in California. It has been reported that just this year alone, multiple inmates have lost their lives in North Kern.

Authorities in North Kern are currently investigating the death of 25-year-old Ricardo Saldivar, who was found dead in his cell on the 4th of July.

TMZ reports that Tory can stay out of the general population for long periods through skilled or unskilled labor jobs that will pay anywhere between $0.08 to $0.30/hour.

Tory Lanez Update: General Population & Special Programs Reportedly Of Interest To Rapper

This weekend reports alleged Tory Lanez is fearing for his life since relocating to North Kern State Prison. In his latest mugshot, the embattled artist looked far less put together than normal. His hair appears to be lifting, and his skin missing its usual glow. Since being transferred, Lanez has been kept away from other inmates due to his celebrity status. This means he receives frequent guard check-ups and escorts to and from his meals. According to TMZ, the Chix Tapes hitmaker wants to be treated like any other inmate.

Attorney Ceasar McDowell tells the outlet that his client surprisingly wants to be kept in general population. In fact, he’s actually confident about his chances for fitting in with fellow prisoners. “We’re told [Lanez] has absolutely no apprehension about his safety… As McDowell explains, [he] thinks he can handle himself,” the outlet explains. Thankfully, the Toronto native has people in his life who briefed him on prison life before his sentence began. Additionally, his natural confidence will surely help on some level.

Apart from human interaction, the performer’s lawyer also shared that Lanez is seeking to speed up his rehabilitation process by engaging in programs and utilizing resources that are more easily accessible to those in gen pop. As far as fear goes, the one thing that the “Say It” hitmaker worries about is reportedly losing contact with his loved ones. At LA County Jail he was able to make phone calls whenever he pleased. For the next 30 days, however, he’s being held at the “reception center.” Here, he can only receive calls from his legal team.

After that period of time elapses, the entertainer will have inmate orientation, where we’ll find out what his future plans for housing are. Both Tory Lanez’s fans and haters are curious to know more about what life in prison has been like for him so far. Should he be granted a spot in general population, the father of one will be putting himself at risk to some seriously gruesome potentials. Tory Lanez’s New Mug Shot Photo Is Here As He Gets Transferred To State Prison And Starts His 10-Year Sentence

Nine months after being found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion and six weeks after being sentenced to 10 years in prison for said crime, Tory Lanez has been transferred to state prison to begin his sentence. TMZ posted a new mugshot of the Canadian rapper which sees him looking pretty unkempt and less-than-pleased with the situation.

In 2020, Lanez was accused by Megan Thee Stallion of shooting her the backs of her feet after a dispute following a party in the Hollywood Hills. Although Lanez maintained his innocence, he also failed to put forth an alternative theory, hinting but never outright accusing that Megan was shot by her friend Kelsey Harris in an argument after both romantically pursued him.

Unfortunately for Lanez, his defense’s inability to present any compelling explanation for Megan’s injuries left a jury no choice but to find him guilty of the assault. In fact, one of his defense teams star witnesses basically confirmed that it was Lanez who did the shooting despite ostensibly being coached ahead of time.

While Tory’s team bid hard for a new trial, their requests were denied. Later, they requested a lenient sentence for the rapper, but ultimately, the judge decided that his actions during ahead of the trial warranted a stiffer penalty.
