Boosie’s Apology To T.I.

From what both parties indicated, it seems like the feud between Boosie Badazz and T.I. is now over. Moreover, the Baton Rouge rapper recently appeared for yet another sit-down interview with VladTV, and spoke earnestly on the subject. Not only that, but he revealed that he apologized to the Atlanta trap artist and detailed some of his though process and emotions. Specifically, he expressed feeling like the two were able to get over their spat like “bosses.” While the heat between them simmered over time, it’s always great to get a solid confirmation of a reconciliation.

“It just went like two bosses of handling it, man,” Boosie started his remarks. “First of all, we got kids who love each other. First we wasn’t agreeing and we was going back-and-forth and you know he spoke how he felt and I spoke how I felt. He felt me and I felt him. I gave him an apology.” Many believed that the two made up when onlookers spotted them at the St. Louis international airport. However, the “Wipe Me Down” MC said that they talked over the phone before that link-up.

Boosie Breaks Down His Apology & Reconciliation With T.I.

“After we kept going back-and-forth, the things he was doing for me in my life at the time, I kinda felt bad,” Boosie continued concerning T.I. “I kinda felt bad he was doing some real s**t helping me in a lot of ways but I told him I still stand on what I stand on. When he explained it to me, we got by it. We got by like bosses supposed to get by. We ain’t let the internet or none of that bring us out of character.”

For those unaware, this pair sent shots at each other after Boosie labeled T.I. a “rat” for allegedly snitching on his dead cousin. In fact, the former canceled a joint album they were working on. After the “Live Your Life” star clarified the situation (granted, after calling Boosie out multiple times), it seems they came to an understanding. With that in mind, maybe we’ll get that collab tape after all, but only time will tell. Regardless, stick around on HNHH for the latest on T.I. and Boosie.

Nick Cannon Says He Turned Down T.I.’s Role in ‘ATL’ for a Bigger Bag

Nick Cannon

Nick Cannon is a man of many talents, and sometimes, he might be too busy to do everything that’s offered to him. Recently, the 42-year-old revealed he was supposed to do T.I.’s lead role in the 2006 classic movie ATL.

Speaking with HipHopDX, Nick Cannon was first asked how Tip auditioned for Cannon’s role in the movie Drumline, released in 2002. This stems from earlier this week when T.I. went on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast to reveal that he was “reading for Nick Cannon’s part” but couldn’t commit to learning drums at the time.

Cannon confirmed that he already knew this, stating that he and T.I. bring up the story often.

“Yeah, I know about that,” Cannon states. “I’ve interviewed T.I., and he’s interviewed me a couple times and we always talk about that story… he gets mad at me like, ‘Why you always got to bring that up?’”

The crazy part is Nick Cannon also was offered the lead role in ATL, which ended up being T.I.’s first time starring in a major feature film.

Cannons explains, “I don’t know if he elaborated on this when he was talking to Shannon Sharpe, I was supposed to do ATL.

He then points out that both films were based around Dallas Austin, the Grammy Award-winning producer, and musician who also produced both films.

Cannon said before pointing out that both ATL and Drumline were about Grammy Award-winning musician, songwriter, and producer Dallas Austin, who also produced both films.

“The Drumline story is about him being a drummer and not knowing how to read music and being in a band, and ATL was this story about him going to a roller skating rink called Jelly Beans. I remember [Dallas] had both of the scripts for Drumline and at the time, ATL was called Jelly Beans. He was like, ‘Yo, we gonna do both of these. We’re gonna do Drumline first and then we’re gonna do Jelly Beans.’”

Ultimately, Cannon had to decide because he was presented with another opportunity at the same time, and the money was talking better over there.

“It got brought to me after Drumline that they were gonna go with it, but I got presented two rollerskating movies: it was Jelly Beans and Roll Bounce. And the bag was a little bigger over at Roll Bounce with less days work; so I chose that one. ‘Cause I was doing another movie, I was like, ‘I could do this one and still complete the other project. Or I could go back down to Atlanta for a few months and not get paid as much.’ I did it for the bag.”

However, Cannon has absolutely no regrets on his end. He states, “Clearly, the same way that you can’t see T.I. in my role [in Drumline], you can’t see me in his role. He bodied it. That [role] was made for him, so it’s amazing how the universe works.”

Cannon recently launched his new daily morning radio show called The Daily Cannon, which fans can tune in to via Amp, the live radio app from Amazon.

Nick Cannon Turned Down T.I.’s Role In “ATL”

Nick Cannon is a man of many talents, who is known for a myriad of things. One of which is acting. Recently, the Wildin’ Out host spoke with HipHopDX about T.I.’s comments about him auditioning for his role in the film Drumline. When asked about this, Nick Cannon told the publication, “Yeah, I know about that.” “I’ve interviewed T.I. and he’s interviewed me a couple times and we always talk about that story.” Additionally the mogul mentioned, “…he gets mad at me like, ‘Why you always got to bring that up?’” Even though the King of the South’s failed audition is public knowledge now. Most probably aren’t aware that Cannon also audition for T.I.P’s role in the 2006 film ATL.

“I don’t know if he elaborated on this when he was talking to Shannon Sharpe, I was supposed to do ATL,” Cannon said. Additionally, he made these comments before mentioning that both movies were about Grammy Award-winning, musician, songwriter, and producer Dallas Austin. Consequently, Dallas produced both films. Nick Cannon revealed to the publication that Dallas had both scripts done. However, Cannon was presented with two roller skating movies that year. One being Jellybeans (the original name for ATL) and Roll Bounce (classic). “The bag was a little bigger over at Roll Bounce with less days work; so I chose that one,” he revealed.

Furthermore, the businessman elaborated further saying that he did it for the “bag.” “Cause I was doing another movie,” Cannon added. “I was like, ‘I could do this one and still complete the other project.’” He continued, “‘Or I could go back down to Atlanta for a few months and not get paid as much.’ I did it for the bag.” While an alternate universe where Nick Cannon is taking his chain back from New New sounds cool. His role as B-Nard in Roll Bounce is undoubtedly one of his coolest side characters.

ATL is a great coming-of-age film. T.I. was the right one for the job, he portrayed Rashad perfectly. What are your thoughts on both films? Would Nick Cannon have been better in ATL? Would T.I. have been better suited for Drumline? Let us know in the comments below!

T.I. Songs: 17 Of His Best

T.I. has been crafting out his icon status for some time. He is easily one of the best rappers to do it. Some have credited Tip for introducing rap to the world. He is truly one of the pioneers of the genre. Now, trap music is leading the way for Hip Hop. It’s no wonder they called him the “Jay-Z of the South” as he spearheaded Atlanta’s dominance in the scene.

With decades in the industry, there are more than enough T.I. songs to choose a handful of favorites. We’ve highlighted 17 tracks, solo and collaborative, that stand out. Whether he’s partnering with R&B songbirds and giving hard-hitting hits, T.I. has you covered. Read through our list and let us know if your favorite T.I. song is on the list.

17. “Got Your Back” ft. Keri Hilson (2010)

T.I. called upon Keri Hilson for his mixtape single, “Got Your Back.” The Atlanta rapper dropped Fuck a Mixtape before his seventh studio album, No Mercy. Both projects were released in 2010. The song did well and peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100.

16. “About The Money” ft. Young Thug (2014)

Two Atlanta greats link up in “All About the Money.” Young Thug assisted Tip on the lead single from his Paperwork album. At the song’s end, T.I. shows off his poetry skills, which is a surprise. T.I. scores another gold plaque with this one. A few months later, T.I. released the remix featuring Lil Wayne and Jeezy. Young Thug and Tip also have new verses on the remix.

15. “Trap Back Jumpin’”(2012)

T.I. put his acting skill to the test in this mini-movie. “Trap Back Jumpin” comes from his eighth studio album, Trouble Man: Heavy is the Head. The video is 10 minutes long and shows the rapper moving around his city. T.I. reminds us why he is one of the originators of trap music.

14. “Family Connect” ft. Domani (2020)

On an album filled with stars like Lil Baby, 21 Savage, and Jadakiss, Tip’s son, Domani, has one of the best features. T.I. gives his son some game on “Family Connect.” The track appears on the Atlanta rapper’s eleventh studio album, The L.I.B.R.A. Domani shares his feelings with his dad about where he’s headed while Tip schools his son on the ins and outs of this thing we called life. Domani has crafted a career outside of his father’s spotlight. His fans believe he’s up next for superstardom.

13. “Memories Back Then” T.I. ft. B.O.B. & Kendrick Lamar (2013)

T.I. tells a story on “Memories Back Then.” His first verse is a vivid tale about a young woman. The song features B.O.B. and Kendrick Lamar. It samples the popular song “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Goyte. Because of clearance issues, the single could not make T.I.’s album.

12. “Private Show” ft. Chris Brown(2014)

T.I. is no stranger to making songs for the ladies. He calls on Chris Brown for “Private Show,” a single from Paperwork. This is the second time the two artists have collaborated. In 2014, they came together on “Get Back Up” from his album, No Mercy.

11. “What Up, What’s Haapnin”(2008)

Tip didn’t hold back on this one. In “What Up, What’s Haapnin’,” he directs his lyrics to Shawty Lo, another ATL rapper. The part atmosphere music video had several noteworthy cameos. Future, Lil Duval, Rocko, and a young Meek Mill were seen. The video was even shot in Shawty Lo’s hood.

10. “Big Things Poppin’ (Do It)”(2006)

In one of his bigger hits, T.I. delivers on “Big Shit Poppin’ (Do It).” It was one of the best songs in 2007 off his fifth studio album, T.I. vs T.I.P. The song was nominated for two Grammy awards in 2008. T.I. lost both the Best Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Song to “Good Life” and “Stronger” by Kanye West. ”Big Shit Poppin” made its way tot he Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

9. “You Know What It Is” T.I. ft. Wyclef Jean (2007)

After dropping the lead single to T.I. vs T.I.P., T.I. drops “You Know What It Is.” The song features Wyclef Jean as he is heard throughout the track. Though it did not win a Grammy, the song still saw success on the charts. It remained on the charts for over four months.

8. “Whatever You Like” (2008)

“Whatever You Like” was yet another No. 1 hit for T.I. On the track, he boasted about all of the things he would give to his woman. This is a song about his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, a singer from the legendary R&B group Xscape. The pair couple has seen its ups and downs, but they’re hip hop royalty in the industry.

7. “Swagga Like Us” ft. Kanye West, Lil Wayne, & Jay-Z(2008)

Four juggernauts collaborated on “Swagga Like Us” and didn’t disappoint.  T.I. nabbed a Grammy with this one for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.  The song was very popular as many other artists freestyled over it. They even performed it at the awards show. There’s always talk of who had the best verse.

6. “Live Your Life” ft. Rihanna(2008)

“Live Your Life” took over the airwaves and continues to be a fan favorite. The song hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts giving Tip his third No. 1 song. Rihanna can certainly stand alone when it comes to making hits, but her collaborations with rappers catapult up the charts. She belts her way through the catchy chorus which complements T.I.’s smooth verses.

5. “ASAP”(2004)

“ASAP” is one of Tip’s bigger hits. From his third studio album, Urban Legend, T.I. scored another gold plaque. Rumor is that this song is a diss to Houston rapper Lil Flip. For those who don’t remember, the two had an altercation in Houston, but they reportedly met behind closed doors and ended their feud.

4. “Dead & Gone” T.I. ft. Justin Timberlake (2008)

After collaborating on “My Love,” T.I. and Justin Timberlake do it again on “Dead and Gone.” Tip gets vulnerable on this song as he discusses the death of his bodyguard and best friend, Philant Johnson. Also, around this time, he was dealing with legal troubles. The duo performed the song at the Grammys and was nominated at the following year’s ceremony.  “Dead and Gone” was up for Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, ultimately losing both awards to “Run This Town” by Jay-Z.

3. “Bring Em Out” (2004)

“Bring Em Out” is still a song you can hear in 2023.  It’s hailed as a sports team anthem, as it could be played before the game, during warmups, and even at halftime. With this hit, T.I. saw another Top 10 track on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Rumor is that this beat was intended for Beanie Sigel, but he went to jail. Then, it was meant for Joe Budden, but he didn’t want to pay to clear the Jay-Z vocals. This allegedly just fell into Tip’s lap.

2. “What You Know”(2006)

In 2006, T.I. took the game by storm with “What You Know.”  You heard this song everywhere, and it received many accolades. At the Grammys, “What You Know” won Best Rap Solo Performance and was nominated for Best Rap Song, losing out to “Money Maker” by Ludacris ft. Pharrell. Several publications had it as one of the top songs of the year. “What You Know” was also the lead single to promote T.I. ‘s movie, ATL. This is one of T.I.’s best songs, as it spent over five months on the Billboard charts.

1. “Rubber Band Man”(2003)

T.I. is the rubber band man. He came on the scene declaring this and was known for wearing his infamous bands around his wrist. Arguably the biggest hit in his discography, Tip called upon fellow rapper David Banner to produce the song.  It’s off his second studio album, Trap Muzik.

T.I. lets us know he rubs shoulders with some of Hip Hop’s finest, as there are many stars in the music video. Usher, Jagged Edge, Jazze Pha, Diddy, Bow Wow, and Lil Duval make cameos. Ex-NFL Quarterback Michael Vick can also be seen.  Though it did not win any awards, “Rubber Band Man” is regarded as one of Atlanta’s greatest songs.

Trap Music In Atlanta: From T.I To Lil Nas X

Trap music’s evolution started as a classification of hip-hop music. The subgenre’s inception begins in the early 2000s. Over the years, trap music has constantly evolved. It is quickly becoming one of the most popular genres in the world. Incidentally, artists like T.I., Gucci Mane, and Lil Wayne are paving the way for the next generation of trap artists.

Altogether, the evolution of trap is a fascinating journey. Without a doubt, each artist adds their own unique spin to the genre. From T.I.’s early hits like “Rubber Band Man” to Lil Nas X’s groundbreaking fusion of country and rap on “Old Town Road,” the genre continues to push boundaries and challenge traditional notions of what hip-hop can be.

Defining Trap Music

Trap music began in the South, specifically in Atlanta, Georgia, in the late 1990s. However, the sound branched out all across the US. This subgenre has a unique sound known for its heavy use of 808 drum machines. Trap also includes synthesizers and dark, fierce lyrics. The music often represents the harsh realities of inner-city life. The term “trap” refers to the places where drugs are sold and consumed, and the songs often reflect the violence and desperation that comes with that lifestyle.

Early Creators of Trap Music

The early creators of trap music include artists like T.I., Jeezy, and Gucci Mane. T.I.’s 2003 album Trap Muzik features heavy use of the 808 drum machine and dark, aggressive lyrics about the drug trade and the struggles of life. Jeezy’s 2005 album Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 is another early instance of trap music, featuring hard-hitting beats and lyrics about the drug game and the hustle.

Gucci Mane also plays a role in the evolution of trap music. His 2005 mixtape Trap House is impactful in popularizing the genre. The mixtape mirrors other trap records of the time sonically with its styling and darker production choices. Most importantly, Gucci’s influence on the genre can still be felt today, with many modern trap artists citing him as an inspiration. The early pioneers of trap music helped define the genre and establish its signature sound. They paved the way for future generations of trap artists, who would go on to take the genre in new and exciting directions.

The Influence Of Future

Undeniably, Future took trap music to new heights in the 2010s. The rapper’s unique use of autotune and melodic hooks is distinguishable from other trap artists. Future’s 2015 album DS2 is widely regarded as a classic in the genre and features some of his popular songs, including “Where Ya At” and “Jumpman” featuring Drake. He continues to dominate in the space, making him a leader in the evolving culture that has introduced a new generation of trap artists.

The Crossover Successes Of Post Malone & Lil Nas X

Post Malone and Lil Nas X are two artists who achieve crossover success with their trap-influenced music. Malone’s distinctive blend of hip-hop, rock, and pop has made him one of the most famous artists in the world. All you need to hear is the opening beats of “Rockstar” and “Congratulations” to recognize the singer’s hits. Lil Nas X’s viral sensation “Old Town Road” also helped him achieve mainstream success and become one of the most talked-about artists. Both have helped sonically shift trap music to new audiences and solidify its place in pop culture.

Impact & Legacy of Trap Music

Since it solidified its foundation in the early 2000s, trap music has become a staple in the mainstream. The genre’s influence is seen in popular music and culture, from fashion to dance. In recent years, trap music has become increasingly popular in Latin America, with artists like Bad Bunny and J Balvin incorporating trap elements. Additionally, artists like Young Thug, Travis Scott, Gunna, Lil Baby, Migos, Playboi Carti, 2 Chainz, 21 Savage, Migos, and far more are thriving in the trap scene, marking themselves as icons.

Despite its widespread popularity, trap has faced criticism, much like drill has. Some argue that the genre’s lyrics promote violence, drug use, and misogyny. Others have accused trap artists of perpetuating negative stereotypes about Black culture. However, defenders of the genre argue that trap music provides a voice for marginalized communities and reflects the realities of life in metropolitan areas. They also note that trap is evolving, with newer artists incorporating more positive messages into their pieces.
