[WATCH] T.I. Recalls On Set Advice from Denzel Washington During ‘American Gangster’ Rehearsals

T.I. Recalls On Set Advice from Denzel Washington During 'American Gangster' Rehearsals

T.I. has done a bit of everything in his storied career. In 2007, he found himself alongside Denzel Washington in the film classic American Gangster.

T.I. played the nephew of Washington’s character, Frank Lucas, who was ditching a promising baseball future aside to join the family drug business.

Appearing on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, T.I. recalls the moment Washington coached him through a scene and helped him combat his nerves.

“As we’re rehearsing I’m pacing back and forth,” T.I. said. “And he said, ‘What’s up, n-gga, You nervous?’ I’m like, ‘Man, I’m just making sure I don’t mess it up.’

“He said, ‘Here man, listen. They could have had anybody in here doing what you’re doing right now. They could have anybody in the world, they could have called anybody right here to do what you’re doing.’”

Flash forward to today, T.I. is still in his acting bag. Hitting theaters this weekend, T.I. will star alongside Power’s Joseph Sikora in the psychological horror film, Fear.

This psychological horror film follows a group of friends who gather for that typical friends weekend getaway at a remote and historic hotel. Their celebration takes a terrifying quick and sudden turn as each one of the guests has to face their own worst fear one by one thanks to a powerful force inside the hotel. The trailer shows the group sharing their biggest fears—some of which we can all relate to.

You can see the trailer below.

Tiny Harris Sues MGA Entertainment Over OMG Girlz Intellectual Property

Another court case is about to be documented via Meghann Cuniff’s Twitter, and it involves T.I. and Tameka “Tiny” Harris. A decade ago, the OMG Girlz were storming the industry—a group that included Lil Wayne’s daughter Reginae Carter and Tiny’s daughter, Zonnique Pullins. Tiny created the group, and the ladies had their own signature styles that a company named MGA Entertainment used for their line of OMG Dolls.

However, it doesn’t look like MGA consulted with Tiny before deciding to move forward with their products. Now, Tiny is taking them to court over her intellectual property.

The dolls are replicas of the OMG Girlz, down to the unique hairstyles and custom outfits. Meghann Cuniff gained internet fame for her coverage of the Tory Lanez trial, and now, she’s giving insight into this Tiny’s grudge against MGA.

“T.I’s stepdaughter was in OMG Girlz, as was Lil Wayne’s daughter. The trial is going to be about MGA’s OMG Dolls and whether they infringe on OMG Girlz,” Cuniff tweeted. “MGA initiated it back in 2020, but T.I. and Tiny have gone on the offensive, too, with a counterclaim.”

“There are big cultural misappropriation and racism issues being considered in litigation, among other pre-trial issues,” she continued. Cuniff stated there were discussions about T.I.’s criminal history as well as Tiny making a shirt featuring her daughter’s mugshot.

Additionally, this case will be quite detailed, considering there are dozens of dolls called into question.

Cuniff noted, “A person familiar with this case warned me last night: ‘There are a gazillion damn dolls. I heard today there will be 31 dolls at issue in trial. An MGA lawyer says that means there will be 31 mini trials, as the creative origins of each doll are explored in full.”

Joe Budden Says He Wants To See Rick Ross Vs. T.I. “Verzuz” Battle

Verzuz battles continue to be a heavily debated topic within the hip-hop and R&B world. There’s always discourse among fans online about which two artists should face each other next. However, we’ve only seen some of them come to fruition.

Regardless, there have certainly been a number of memorable battles over the past few years, including Jeezy and Gucci’s historic showdown, as well as T-Pain vs. Lil Jon.

In a recent episode of his own show, The Joe Budden Podcast, the “Pump It Up” rapper says he thinks Rick Ross and T.I. should square off next.

“I’m down for the person that we’ve seen already, that won.. alright, next battle. Rick Ross versus T.I.,” the media personality starts off. He goes on to say that the “Whatever You Like” rapper has never participated in one and he thinks Rozay won in his previous showdown with 2 Chainz. Therefore, according to Budden, the “Hustlin’” rapper should move on to face a new opponent.

“And Ross [has] got more than 40 records that he could play with, so now [he’s] back with a different 20. Or ‘John’ in front of T.I. looks different than ‘John’ in front of 2 Chainz. Like, I don’t think Ross will have time for the strippers to come out against T.I. It won’t be time for massages, speeches.. that’s T.I.” he continues afterwards.

The aforementioned Rick Ross vs. 2 Chainz battle went down in 2020. Budden obviously thinks that the “Aston Martin Music” rapper came out on top and should face a new opponent. “There’s a few people that won that I think need to come back and do it again,” says the former Everyday Struggle co-host. The suggestion certainly seems like a good idea and it will be interesting to see reactions pour in on social media.

Check out Budden’s initial reaction to the Rozay vs. 2 Chainz Verzuz announcement below.

T.I. & Joseph Sikora Star In New Horror Film “Fear”

Former “106 & Park” host Terrence J, rapper T.I., and Joseph Sikora of “Power” fame are all starring in a new psychological thriller. Fear, set to premiere in theaters next month, follows a group that finds their worst fears unfold after visiting a strange hotel.

Fear’s trailer shows the group gathering around a campfire at night while in the middle of the woods. Innocently admitting to fears like blood and drowning, they each are tasked with dealing with the very thing that causes them terror.

The film is directed by Deon Taylor, who previously worked on The Intruder and Black and Blue. He also worked with Sikora in the past, directing an episode of Starz’s Power Book IV: Force.

Speaking with Complex about the horror movie, Sikora recently shared, “There is no other horror film that has ever existed that comments so deeply on the concept of not only the Carl Jung theory of the collective unconscious, but also the incorporation of a media society, and how ancient evils can permeate into the souls of men and women through connective emotion in our case, fear.”

Filming Fear in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Taylor previously revealed that “testing 65 people every other day was extremely hard to do, but we pulled it off.”

Discussing the film further, the director-writer added that Fear “has a very very powerful relevant message about how we deal with fear and the fact that fear can kill us.”

You can catch the upcoming film on January 27. Share your thoughts on the spooky trailer in the comments down below.

T.I. Was Reportedly Hit With A Hefty $77k Lawsuit Over Damaging A California Rental Home

T.I.’s former landlord claims the Atlanta rapper is not only responsible for extensive damages to a California rental home but refuses to pay for the repairs, which total up to $77k.

In legal documents obtained by Radar Online, Farzin Fazeli, the rapper’s former landlord, claims he is responsible for at least $127k in damages done to a rental home in Encino, California.

Fazeli argues that T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, merely “handed over a $50,000 deposit to cover the extensive damages but avoided paying the outlying $77,182.65.”

“The damages arise from a significant number of alterations done to the property that were done either without knowledge or some limited knowledge, but all with the agreement that the house would be placed back to how it was when it was originally leased,” the lawsuit reads.

The damaged property includes a projector, the pool house floor, a kitchen pantry door, drywall, ceiling damage, and more.

Fazeli also noted that the rapper leased out the property in July 2020 and that “he gave him a 60-day notice to vacate the property in June 2022.” However, T.I. allegedly only paid rent through August and moved out by the end of the month.

The landlord is suing not only for breach of contract but he asked the court to award him more than $77,000 to force T.I. to cover his legal fees. Ouch.

But Tip isn’t the only one in the Harris family facing legal troubles. His 18-year-old son, King, was arrested this past September for not wearing a seatbelt in Atlanta. The rapper eventually responded to the incident via Instagram, noting he spoke to his son and admitted he has tried to steer him in the right direction because of his personal experience, but says he will have to learn on his own.

“[I] got a small request,” T.I. said in the video. “Stop hitting me and getting in my comments, telling me what to tell King, okay? I know my son. Think I ain’t spoke to my son? Think I ain’t told my son, his mama, and his grandmama? His a** [is] going to prison if he g*ddamn keeps [this] up. His a** [is] going to prison. Ain’t no way around it.”

In a 2020 episode of his expediTIously podcast, self proclaimed King Of The South T.I. admitted to snitching on a dead family member in order to get out of an illegal gun case.

T.I.’s cousin, Toot, was killed before the two could go to trial for a gun case caught in the early 2000s near ATL’s Lenox Mall, but Tip says Toot’s beyond the grave blessing made it ok to use his cousin and production collaborator a posthumous scapegoat.

“We caught those gun cases, Toot died. My lawyer said, ‘Well, you know, I could make everything go away if it was Toot’s, it was Tremel’s,’” he said. “After he had passed, I had a talk with him. Toot said, ‘I’ll take all the charges you got! If you can walk away free and put it on me, goddamn right! ‘Cause I’ll be damned if they gon’ come and muthafucking extradite me from here!’”
