MGK & Trippie Redd Sneak In A Subtle JID Feature On “Who Do I Call”

For the latter parts of mgk and Trippie Redd’s careers, both artists have a had a tough go of it from critics and even fans. Their recent projects have not been people’s favorites and the same could be said for their first-ever collaborative outing. The two Ohio natives had a lot of skeptics on their radar when they announced their 10-track EP genre : sadboy. Its title and cover art alone had fans scoffing at it. However, tracks like mgk and Trippie’s “who do i call,” have been proving the doubters wrong.

Trippie and mgk are not alone on “who do i call” either. JID, delivers a bit of an unsuspecting verse at the beginning and provides adlibs later on. All three rappers are singing and spitting about a previous relationship that has lost its spark. With those women gone all three are left asking themselves “who do i call,” to help give their lives meaning again. While the story is a bit by the numbers, JID does a good job fitting into the track.

Homixide Gang Are Electric On Their New Single “HI-VOLTAGE”

Homixide Gang are back with a new track. The duo has dropped the track “HI-VOLTAGE”, and its one of their most exciting releases to date. The energy of rappers Homixide Meechie and Homixide Beno live up to the title, as they spit over an earworm instrumental produced by UpMadeIt, jstcap and longtime Weeknd collaborator Cxdy.

Homixide Gang is signed to Playboi Carti’s Opium imprint, and their past songs have generally seen take a harder sound that their label boss. On “HI-VOLTAGE”, however, Meechie and Beno trade it the bass hits and synth of a track like “Lifestyle” for a looser sound. The way they flow and the instrumental are much closer in style to what Carti did on 2020’s Whole Lotta Red, and he melodic approach suits the duo.

The sonic qualities of “HI-VOLTAGE” might sound victorious, but the lyrical content is bleak. Meechie and Beno rap about the violence they’ve both witnessed and caused in the streets. The gritty music video for the track ramps up this sense of danger by having the duo recreate scenes from the 2002 gangster film Shottas. The “HI-VOLTAGE” video was shot in the Miami neighborhood of Little Haiti.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “HI-VOLTAGE,” by Homixide Gang? Is this one of the duo’s strongest tracks, or one of their weakest? What is your favorite element of the track and why? Which rapper had the better verse? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. TiaCorine & Rich Brian Deliver Vibrant “PUMP IT UP” Under 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE

1999 WRITE THE FUTURE won over our hearts late last year. The hip-hop collective that has close affiliations with 88rising and RCA Records got their start in October with their debut single “WORLD STOP TURNING.” However, our first coverage of their work came shortly after that release. “MiNt cHoCoLaTe,” which dropped in December, put us on to what kind of experimentation they were up to. Since then, they went onto give fans thier debut project in February and they are not slowing down. Today, they are back with a new track with Rich Brian and TiaCorine, “PUMP IT UP.”

Rich has had a lot to do with the success of 1999 as he is signed to 88rising. Key Glock Turns To DJ Alok For A Dance Remix Of “Let’s Go”

Key Glock is one of the top-flight Memphis rap talents right now. One thing about him is that you are going to get consistency at the highest level. He might be a top-five trap rap artist right now, and certainly from his hometown. Every album of his is filled to the brim with bangers, especially his most recent effort. In 2023, Mr. Glock put out Glockoma 2, a sequel to his 2018 project. Surprisingly though, the deluxe version gave us its biggest hit. With “Let’s Go” being such a huge success, Key Glock has recruited Alok for a remix to turn house parties into ragers.

Alok is one of the most popular DJs in the world, with the Brazilian raking in over 30 million monthly listeners. He specializes in dance/EDM music and has been in the business since 2018. Glock has really been marketing “Let’s Go” very well, especially with its John Wick-inspired music video. With his connections and love for the track, it only made sense to bring a new version to fruition.

Listen To “Let’s Go (Alok Remix)” By Key Glock & Alok

What is good about this “Let’s Go (Alok Remix)” is that it keeps a similarly dark tone like the original does. It is not overproduced, or drowning is wub bass either. It is a nice balance between dark and upbeat at the same time. There is a chance it will not do as well as like a “Goosebumps – Remix” with HVME, for example. But it does its job and pretty effectively in our opinion.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Let’s Go (Alok Remix),” by Key Glock and Alok? Do you prefer this version or the original, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the track and why? Do you think we have a new project coming soon from the Memphis rapper? Is this the best song of his career? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Key Glock.
