Rick Ross Was Punched In The Face After Playing Kendrick Lamar’s Drake Diss ‘Not Like Us’ In Canada

Rick Ross has made it clear he was on Kendrick Lamar’s side in his feud against Drake. When he was in Canada this past weekend, he paid for it.

At the end of Ross’ set at the Ignite Music Festival in Vancouver on Sunday (June 30), he played Lamar’s Drake diss track “Not Like Us.” A video shows Ross, shortly after leaving the stage, as the song is still playing. He was confronted by a group who were apparently angered by Ross playing the song in Drake’s home country. The situation became physical when one of the men punched Ross in the face, which started a brawl between them and Ross’ associates.

The brawl lasted for minutes, and by the end of it, one of Ross’ associates was unconscious and had to be carried away.

Previously, Drake dissed Ross on “Push Ups.” Ross ended up clapping back by suggesting on his song “Champagne Moments” that Drake got a nose job.

The two then apparently had an exchange in the DMs, and Ross later advised Drake to not respond to Lamar’s “Euphoria,” saying, “I know we not friends, but let me give you this advice because you ain’t got nobody around you, you ain’t got no real n****s around you. Let me put it like that: ain’t no real n****s. Stop. Don’t respond. Don’t respond. You ain’t even peep when the intro came on with that Teddy Pendergrass, that was that Black vibe. Don’t do it. Don’t go write an 8-minute verse.”

Blavity House Party Debuts in Nashville with Performances from Rick Ross, Monica, and More

Making its debut at Nashville Municipal Auditorium this weekend, Blavity House Party was designed as an immersive music and culture experience. A celebration of Black joy, the kickoff event for Black Music Month balanced big onstage moments with the small joys that turn a group of strangers into a community. Hosted by Zack Fox and Bridget Kelly, the party kicked off in Nashville, bringing great performances, food, vibes, and more to Music City.

The first-ever music experience presented by Blavity Media Group, the two-day, multi-stage House Party featured a cross-generational array of talented performers who have defined the sound of R&B and hip-hop for the past three decades. Monica stunned with renditions of her biggest hits like “So Gone” and “Love All Over Me” during her headlining performance. At the same time, Rick Ross brought his iconic braggadocious raps to one of Nashville’s most storied venues. Baltimore’s favorite R&B group Dru Hill played a standout performance, bringing the crowd to its feet, singing along with their hits like “Tell Me” and “These Are the Times.” Lead singer Sisqó didn’t leave the stage without a provocative performance of his iconic, platinum-selling hit “Thong Song.”

Throughout the weekend, Big Freedia brought the bounce from New Orleans, Blxst proved to be one of LA’s finest, and GRAMMY-award-winning heartthrob Leon Thomas swooned the crowd with his hypnotic, guitar-driven hits. R&B stalwarts K. Michelle, Ryan Leslie, and Lil’ Mo serenaded audiences with their pristine vocals and lush melodies. Southern hip-hop legend Lil Scrappy delivered one of the most hype moments of the weekend, as fans vigorously rapped along to his crunk hit singles “No Problem” and “Knuck If You Buck.” Rising star Reyna Roberts brought the country flair with her cherry red hair and electrifying performance of hits including “Raised Right,” and performances from The Sainted Trap Choir, Domani, and DJ Sophia Rocks proved the future is bright.

Taking place just days before Juneteenth, Blavity House Party also shined a spotlight on Nashville’s vibrant Black community with an assortment of over 20 Black-owned vendors, restaurants, and activities for fans to engage and enjoy. Fans enjoyed Nashville favorites like Slim & Husky’s, Slutty Vegan, and Down N The Bayou, and shopped at the “Off The Shelves” marketplace. They also had a blast during double dutch and line dancing sessions on the patio in their custom Tito’s cowboy hats. Those who dared rode the mechanical bull, as Nash Feels brought some of the most memorable dance party moments of the weekend.

From cowboy chic fits and southern cuisine to the Black-owned marketplace and a vast selection of house party music, the inaugural Blavity House Party was one for the books, celebrating the Nashville community in style.

LL COOL J Returns with New Single “Saturday Night Special” Featuring Rick Ross and Fat Joe

LL COOL J Returns with New Single “Saturday Night Special” Featuring Rick Ross and Fat Joe

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and two-time Grammy® Award-winning hip-hop icon LL COOL J triumphantly returns to music with his new single “Saturday Night Special” featuring Rick Ross and Fat Joe. Released via Def Jam Recordings and Virgin Music Group, the track marks LL’s comeback after a decade-long hiatus.

The new single, produced by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Q-Tip, kicks off with an innovative sonic approach. LL COOL J, Rick Ross, and Fat Joe navigate the track with lyrical finesse, depicting life’s harsh realities and intricate dynamics and the code of ethics that governs it. Named after the revolver class “Saturday Night Special,” the song explores key players in the hustle, such as the “greedy killer” who reacts violently to disrespect and the “daredevil type” who seeks attention. Emphasizing self-preservation and strategic interaction, the song’s core message revolves around trust and reciprocity in the hustle.

The minimalist, black-and-white music video, directed by JakeTheShooter with creative direction from HiHat, brings the hustler anthem to life. Shot in Miami, Florida, the video features LL, Fat Joe, and Rick Ross performing together.

“‘Saturday Night Special’ is just the beginning,” LL said. “There’s a lot more where this came from, and I’m hype for y’all to hear this new record. We’re doing this for the fans and for Hip-Hop culture.”

The single is the first release from LL’s highly anticipated 14th studio album, The FORCE (Frequencies of Real Creative Energy), set for release this fall. Executive produced by Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, the album celebrates the 40th anniversary of Def Jam Recordings, the label that first launched LL’s career.

Rick Ross To Sell 300 Pairs Of Sneakers In “Luxury And Lifestyle” Auction

Rick ROss 1

Later this month, Rick Ross will give back to the entrepreneurial spirit and auction off over 300 pairs of rare kicks and other personal items during the inaugural “Push It To The Limit: Luxury And Lifestyle” auction.

In partnership with the Creative Collective NYC and the Boss Up Grant, Rozay will auction off upwards of 800 items in total and donate all proceeds will be donated to aid “entrepreneurs with grants to accelerate their continued impact, business initiatives and scale their operations.”

“I looked around one day and marveled at how blessed I am,” said the Maybach Music CEO. “I wanted to figure out how to be a blessing to others and share some of the dopest, rarest luxuries with the world that I’ve collected over the course of my career.” He continued, “Inspired by my brother Pharrell, I thought of an auction with the proceeds to help the next generation of bosses. It was the most player and sustainable way to not only touch my fans but also pour into a community that has poured into me.”

Aside from the some of the most exclusive smeakers on the market including a pair of Air Jordan Retro 5 “University of Michigan Fab 5” PEs and his DJ Khaled “Father of Asahd” Air Jordans, Ross will be auctioning off designer clothing items, art pieces, RIAA plaques and a custom-made piano that features the cover art of Michael Jackson‘s Thriller.

Rick Ross Changes Cover Art For Drake Diss “Champagne Moments”

Just when we thought the battle was over. Rick Ross was a minor player in the Drake vs. everybody narrative, but he still left an impression. Ross and Drake do, after all, have a stellar track record of hits together, and Ross’ social media trolling did gets laughs from Drake haters. Rozay’s diss, on the other hand, “Champagne Moments,” was met with muted response. Fans thought it was pretty lightweight in terms of content, but that didn’t stop the rapper for tweaking its cover art on streaming.

The cover art swap occurred on June 11. It was notable because, well, the original cover art was one of the most notable things about the original rollout. “Champagne Moments” was originally released with a viral image dating back to 2022. A user on the website 9gag found a photo in their grandma’s yearbook and posted it because they claimed it looked like “white Drake.” The photon gained traction, despite the true identity of the man never being divulged. Rick Ross’ decision to use the photo as his artwork revived the meme and brought it to the attention of those who missed it the first time around.

Rick Ross Ditched The Original “White Drake” Meme

The new artwork for “Champagne Moments” has a less thrilling backstory. It’s unclear if the change was made to avoid legal complications, but it features a drawing of Drake looking nerdy. The rapper is made to have glasses and a bowtie, as well as blond, floppy hair. It’s insulting, albeit not as memorable a cover as the original. The timing of the artwork change is also odd. “Champagne Moments” dropped way back in April, and every other artist has moved on from the battle. Some have gone out of their way to remove evidence of the battle on social media.

Drake caught a lot of flack for deleting his diss songs from Instagram on June 5. He wiped all the disses from the platform, including “Push Ups” and “Family Matters.” Both songs were mainly aimed at Kendrick Lamar, but contained disses for Rick Ross as well. In the case of the former, Drake pointed out that all of Ross’ biggest hits came from their collabs. The MMG boss seemed unbothered, however. He recently partnered with Julien’s Auctions to auction off an exclusive collection of street and contemporary art. Some of the most notable pieces included a Michael Jackson glove and several Air Jordan pairs.

Rick Ross Gets Ruthlessly Clowned For Dance Moves At Recent Show

Ever since his quick exit amid the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef, Rick Ross has been in the news for some interesting things. From munching on vegan burgers to applying for a zoo license, the cooky hip-hop character has put himself in some odd spots. In addition to his antics, Rozay has been getting clowned by his hip-hop contemporaries as well. The Game and 50 Cent are spearheading that trolling campaign, with the former unleashing a diss track called “Freeway’s Revenge”. It was a pretty ruthless attack on the Mississippi rapper and entrepreneur and all he could muster were some trolling videos. Now, Rick Ross is getting roasted and toasted for some questionable dance moves at a recent show.

The clip from DJ Akademiks’ Instagram, shows him shuffling his feet side to side to one of Biggie’s biggest songs. Ross was all smiles while dancing his way to center stage, but fans were not letting it slide one bit. “Bro on my life I thought that was Saucy Santana”, one IG user said. “Dancing like an auntie,” another adds.

Of course, the fat and Ozempic jokes were thrown around as well. “Premium Ozempic Legs 😂”. “Unctie got them TigOBitties😂”, were just a few of the ruthless weight jabs. If The Game or 50 Cent comes across this video, just be ready for more roast sessions.

What are your thoughts on Rick Ross’ dance moves onstage? Do you think some of the roasts went too far, why or why not? Today In Hip Hop History: Rick Ross Arrested For Marijuana Possession In Atlanta Nine Years Ago

Screenshot 2024 06 10 at 7.02.40 AM

In 2015, “The Bawse” Ricky Rozay was pulled over in his Bentley in metro Atlanta for a window tint violation, but Atlanta Police smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and later discovered some weed from inside of the vehicle, resulting in his arrest.

The Maybach Music founder was processed in the Fayette County Jail before he was released on bail later that day, similar to his arrest for marijuana possession just a year earlier in Greensboro, North Carolina for failure to appear in court for another marijuana charge.

Fortunately for Ross, the marijuana laws have loosened up extensively around the country, allowing many misdemeanor marijuana charges to be automatically vacated or offenders have been given dramatically reduced sentences.

DJ Akademiks Claims That Cam’ron Beat Jay-Z In 2000s Rap Battle

Another day, another DJ Akademiks hot take. The internet personality has not had the best month in terms of public perception. Drake, the rapper he chose to win in the Kendrick Lamar battle, effectively lost, and Ak himself was accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit. He hasn’t let it slow down his streaming schedule, or his propensity for frustrating hip-hop heads, though. Soon after laying into Meek Mill and claiming that he ended the Philly rapper’s career, Ak claimed that Cam’ron defeated Jay-Z back when they were beefing in the 2000s.

“I thought Cam beat Jay,” Ak asserted. “I know they ain’t really battle like that, but I always thought he flamed Jay-Z.” The song Ak is referring to is “You Gotta Love It” off his 2006 album Killa Season. As far as the internet personality was concerned, Cam’ron leveled all competition with his style and sense of humor. “When we had Cam’ron [and] Max B diss Jay, it’s like ‘You got open-toed sandals with jeans on.’ Come on. It was over for me,” Akademiks recalled.

DJ Akademiks Thought Cam’ron’s Diss Was More Memorable

He went on to play the diss on his stream, before claiming that he wanted Drake to adopt more of a Cam approach in his battle with Kendrick Lamar. “I’m telling you, Cam got the jokes,” he noted. “Cam is more potent. Him and Rick Ross… This sh*t was ill to me. This is how I wanted Drake to start the sh*t! You the G.O.A.T., man.” Cam’ron is relevant as ever these days, thanks to It Is What It Is podcast and the bizarre interview he gave on CNN, but the rapper has smoothed things over with Jay-Z. The rappers, who were signed to Roc-A-Fella, had a cold war that stemmed from perceived slights on both sides.

Fortunately, they were able to squash their beef in the late 2010s. Cam’ron discussed his relationship with Jay during an interview with Million Dollaz Worth of Game, and detailed an invite he got to perform alongside the rapper at a 2019 concert. “Jay called, he’s like, ‘Yo, first of all I want to tell you I got respect for you,’ and I’m like, ‘Same here, bro,’” Cam’ron recalled. “We just showed our love for each other, and we kept it under wraps. Nobody would’ve thought that in a million years.”

The Game Appears To Troll Meek Mill Amidst Rick Ross Battle

Is Meek Mill the biggest punching bag in hip-hop? Drake has been through the ringer in 2024, and had to single-handedly battle half the industry, but at least the Toronto rapper commands respect. People think Drake is a serious artist, even if the consensus is that he lost to Kendrick Lamar. Meek Mill, on the other hand, is afforded no such respect. The Philly rapper has become low-hanging fruit for fans and rappers alike. It’s easy to see why. He posts bizarre videos of himself, and has questionable affiliations with the likes of Diddy. Now, he has to deal with smoke from The Game.

Meek Mill posted a photo of himself on Instagram May 14, and fans clowned it. Nothing new there. The unexpected wrinkle was a comment from The Game. He simply typed “life is good” under the post, but fans know that the Compton rapper does everything with an ulterior motive. He’s “harmlessly” trolling a rapper on social media, then the next thing we know, he’s dropping an aggressive diss track against him. Those looking for proof can literally refer to a week ago, when The Game went at Meek Mill’s MMG boss Rick Ross.

The Game Poked Fun At Meek Mill On Instagram

Game has been dying to battle somebody in 2024. Few rappers want smoke more than the Compton hitmaker, and Rick Ross apparently drew the short straw. (It’s probably because he put out a Drake diss, but we’ll likely never know for sure.) He poked fun at Rozay’s weight on Instagram, then he dropped the diss track “Freeway’s Revenge.” Ross has responded to the diss on social media, but he more or less laughed it off. He claimed The Game was “starving” and hasn’t bothered recording a response.

To further support the theory that Game is targeting Meek Mill, the rappers have had beef before. The Game called Meek a “snitch” during his “92 Bars” diss, and Meek responded with a verse on the remix to “OOOUUU.” The Game went as far as to challenge Meek to a fistfight during a 2015 concert in Miami. It all came to a screeching halt when Meek was locked up the following year.

The two men reportedly put an end to their beef, and have been on solid terms ever since. If Game is looking to clout chase, though, Meek is a prime option for a low-level, low-risk beef. Time will tell if Game’s comment lead somewhere.
