Rich The Kid On Blast For Not Paying Videographer $8K

Rich The Kid tried to pull a dine and dash on a videographer. In the days of social media, however, it is extremely difficult to pull one over on people. This is especially true when it comes to money. Some people might let it slide. Unfortunately for Rich, the man published the receipts online. The videographer, who shot a music video for the rapper, has accused him of not paying him at all. Apparently, Rich owes him more than $8,000 for his services.

That’s not all. Walt Productions also claims that he traveled all the way to New York and Miami to shoot and edit the video. Still, he has not been paid by the Georgia native. So, he did what any unpaid creative would do in the year 2023. He shared direct messages from Rich The Kid and his invoice which included expenses for travel, lodging, and the requested package, totaling to $8,241.

Rich The Kid’s Baby Mama Hush Money Drama

Sadly, the unpaid videographer is not Rich The Kid’s only problem this week. The rapper has also been accused of attempting to pay a woman off with “hush money.” This was to keep her quiet about her alleged pregnancy by him. The woman, who filed a suit under the name “Jane Doe,” made her claim in a Massachusetts court. She alleged that Rich The Kid sexually assaulted her in January and prevented her from leaving a hotel room. After she managed to escape, the two reportedly had consensual sex that resulted in a pregnancy. They both agreed to terminate it. Court documents reveal that the rapper attempted to pay her off to keep the pregnancy and assault allegations secret.

Jane Doe says that Rich The Kid agreed to pay $35,000 in hush money to keep quiet about the incident. However, according to court documents, the rapper still owes her $25,000. She alleges that the money was paid to her so that Rich The Kid’s fiancée, Tori Brixx, wouldn’t find out. Rich The Kid’s lawyer has not commented on the matter yet. Prior to this controversy, Rich The Kid and Tori Brixx appeared to be in a loving relationship, as evidenced by a video posted by The Shade Room earlier this year showing the couple on a boat vacation.

Rich The Kid Shows Off New Takeoff Pendant

Rich The Kid has posted another reminder of his friendship with slain rapper Takeoff. The two were extremely close friends and had even collaborated together. Last year, they released a song together called “Crypto.” As one-third of Migos, Takeoff had experienced quite a bit of success in the industry before his untimely passing. His death sent shockwaves through the industry. Since the rapper’s death, many have taken the time to remember him. Tragically, details have emerged that show that his death was likely entirely avoidable.

Takeoff was just 28 years old when he was shot and killed in Houston, Texas. He was apparently present for a game of dice with his brother and fellow Migos member, Quavo. During the game, a heated argument broke out. Comedian Shawty Shawty spoke to the rapper’s cousins about the incident and provided more context. “Quavo dominates in a whole lot of things, basketball, all of this,” the comedian clarified “So, they say they had been shooting basketball earlier, and then they got to the bowling alley, and they said there was a dice game. And they say that Quavo noticed that the dice were not right, and that’s where the argument started.”

Takeoff Honored By His Friend And Collaborator

Rich The Kid has done quite a bit to pay tribute to his fallen friend. Shortly after Takeoff passed away, Rich posted a touching message to the rapper on his social media. “Today I lost more than a brother. My twin, my best friend, everything. I don’t wanna believe it, I can’t,” he said. “The most humble person I know. We used to share shoes [and] clothes before we made it with no problem! I miss you already. You didn’t deserve that! I can’t stop crying. I love you so much bro, forever.”

In January, Rich revealed that he had gotten a tattoo to honor Takeoff. Now, Rich has shared a video of a pendant he had made for the late rapper. The video shows a circular pendant surrounded by diamonds. In the middle is a rotating piece featuring pictures of Takeoff. The video is soundtracked by the pair’s 2022 collaboration. What do you think of Rich The Kid’s new tribute to Takeoff? Let us know in the comments.

Rich The Kid Previews New Music

Rich The Kid has previewed a new song via his Instagram. Last year, the Queens, NY-born signed with RCA Records. According to The Kid, the deal was worth $40 million. At the time of signing in 2022, he released his single “Motion”. The song teased in his Instagram video is the first news of new music from The Kid since last year. No other information was given about a release date, but the video tease means the music can’t be far behind. Being that his latest studio album was released three years ago, we can likely expect an album announcement soon, as well.

Rich The Kid first caught the public’s attention in 2017 with his song “New Freezer,” which featured Kendrick Lamar. However, his rap career started much earlier than that. He released his first mixtape, Been About the Benjamins, in 2013. Since then, he has put out several hit albums, including his platinum debut record, The World Is Yours. The Kid has worked with many well-known rappers throughout his career, and his music is praised for its infectious rhythms and high energy. With his early success and distinctive approach, The Kid has established himself as a key player in the hip-hop scene.

The Comeback Kid

It’s been a rough couple of years in a lot of ways for Rich The Kid. Since 2018, he has been involved in two robberies, both of which left him injured. The first incident took place at the home of his former partner, Tori Brixx. Armed men entered her home with the intention of robbing her, and when The Kid tried to stand up to them, he was badly beaten. In 2019, as he was leaving the studio, The Kid was shot and robbed. In 2021, he was arrested at LAX for carrying a loaded firearm in his luggage. Then, his close friend and Migos member, Takeoff was shot and killed last year. However, it seems no matter what happens, he always seems to land on his feet. Perhaps that’s why his Instagram profile calls him the comeback kid.

Rich The Kid turned a new page in his career when he signed with RCA, and fans likely have a lot to look forward to. In the Instagram post teasing his new song, he told fans to leave a Brazilian flag emoji if they wanted the song early. This was likely due to the lyrical references to Brazil that can be heard in the clip. The wall of Brazilian flag emojis flooding the comments tells you all you need to know about how his fans feel. Are you feeling the new song? Let us know in the comments.

IDK And Rich The Kid Flawlessly Switch Up Their Styles On Their New Single, ‘850 (We On Top)’

Ahead of his appearance at Coachella next month, IDK has shared a new song called “850.” On “850,” IDK, which stands for Ignorantly Delivering Knowledge, delivers celebratory bars over a hypnotic, ominous, beat.

“You was just stopped, now you want to have a revolution / now you’ve changed / that ain’t a problem / Just don’t bring the thought to me, unless it’s with the brain / lay flat in the plane / Go to sleep in LA / Then I wake up in Spain,” he raps.

Midway through the song IDK and his collaborator, Rich The Kid, switch up their flows, as the beat changes after a brief interlude.

Over the years, IDK has demonstrated his range as a rapper, a singer, and a producer. In an interview with BET last year, IDK expressed the desire to cultivate a sense of perseverance within his community.

“Community, to me, is the most important thing to have,” he said. “Some people, especially if you’re an artist from the hood — let’s say you’re from Memphis — rely on the people that relate to you. That’s your community. You want to have Memphis behind you. These are the people who are going to have your back no matter what. It’s always important to have that. But in order to have solid community support, you have to be of it, and the person representing the community has to be real.”

You can listen to “850” above.

IDK is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Rich The Kid Was Once Signed To Top Dawg Entertainment

Rich The Kid’s autobiography will have stories for days. The “Plug Talk” rapper had a storied career, even before he had a major label deal or a break-out single. He went through the motions of the average up-and-coming artist and the hard work ultimately paid off. When he released The World Is Yours, he became champion by the rap community, including a few elite MCs.

Though Rich The Kid is far from being a top-tier lyricist, that was never his point. His infectious energy and quotable bars ultimately landed him a verse from Kendrick Lamar on his breakout hit, “No Freezer.” It was an unsuspected collaboration but one that took the world by storm. It became one of the biggest records of 2017 and felt inescapable upon its release. The song later reached platinum status and the two performed the record at the BRIT Awards in 2018 where they smashed a Lamborghini.

Rich The Kid Signed To TDE

Though we were previously aware that A$AP Ferg initially had a verse on “New Freezer,” Rich The Kid provided a far more in-depth response to how he landed a K. Dot verse. In an interview with Bootleg Kev, Rich The Kid said he penned a deal with Top Dawg Entertainment. “I did sign to Interscope through TDE,” he said, confirming the long-standing rumor that emerged prior to the release of “New Freezer.” At the time, he was recording his album while Kendrick worked on DAMN. and SZA recorded CTRL.

He explained that he wasn’t even aware that Kendrick or SZA were working in the same studio complex. However, he recalled the day Kendrick came in the room to hear what he was working on. “I played him ‘New Freezer’ and he was like, ‘Yeah, I need that.’ I was waiting for the verse for like a month ’cause he was on the road doing shows and shit,” he said. The collab earned him a spot within TDE’s tightknit circle but, due to his contractual agreements with 300 Ent. and Quality Control, he had to buy his way out of both deals. Check his interview with Bootleg Kev above.

Rich The Kid Honored Late Migos Member Takeoff With A Permanent Tribute: A New Tattoo In His Memory

February 1 will mark three months since Takeoff was fatally shot outside of 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston, where he attended a private event with Quavo. But regardless of how much time passes, Rich The Kid has ensured he will never forget Takeoff.

Tattoo MF Red has posted video of him inking Rich The Kid with a simple yet powerful tattoo: “Takeoff” is written on the outside of Rich The Kid’s hand.

According to TMZ, the tattoo appointment happened in Tampa, Florida and only took 30 minutes. Rich The Kid squeezed it in between a recording session and a scheduled radio interview.

Takeoff was best known as one-third of Migos — alongside Quavo and Offset — but the 28-year-old beloved Atlanta rapper and Quavo had released their joint album Only Built For Infinity Links less than a month before Takeoff’s tragic passing.

When news broke on November 1, Rich The Kid took to Instagram to express his grief:

“Today I lost more than a brother,” he wrote. “My twin my best friend everything. I don’t wanna believe it I can’t. The most humble person I know we used to share shoes & clothes before we made it with no problem! I miss you already you didn’t deserve that!! I can’t stop crying I love you so much bro forever.”

Takeoff and Rich The Kid dropped their joint “Crypto” single in March 2022. It was far from the first time they collaborated. As noted by Billboard, Rich The Kid met Migos in 2012 and featured on their 2013 track “Jumpin’ Like Jordan.” Takeoff hopped on Rich The Kid songs like “Trap-A-Holics” in 2013 or “Rockets” in 2019. Quavo and Takeoff also featured on Rich The Kid’s “Too Blessed” in 2020.
