D4vd Wonders “Where’d It Go Wrong?” On His New Single

Believe it or not, d4vd, Houston, Texas singer-songwriter, has not put out a debut album yet. He’s been in the industry for about three years now, but he’s held back from putting out a true LP. The “Romantic Homicide” artist does have a collection of EPs (Petals to Thorns, The Lost Petals, etc.) and whole slew of singles. But it seems he’s inching slightly closer to pulling the trigger with this new record, “Where’d it Go Wrong?” which hit streaming platforms this weekend.

According to Genius, it will be titled Withered, and a 2025 release looks to be the most realistic expectation right now. With that said, a specific day has yet to be revealed. But this song should tide fans over for a bit as it’s one of d4vd’s most personal ones to date. Part of the reason why is because according to Hypebeast, the 19-year-old Darkroom signee recorded this track at his childhood home in his closet. In terms of the equipment, he went back to his stripped back and raw roots by using BandLab and his iPhone. D4vd shared with the outlet how much it meant to him to lay down this single in this fashion. “This song reminded me why I’ve always loved making music on my own.” The passion is certainly there on all fronts, so make sure you check it out below.

Quotable Lyrics:

And I don’t really want your love no more, I swear, ’cause I don’t need it
And I don’t mean to be conceited
But I’m the reason you’re still breathin’
I’ll stop picking up your calls, ’cause you won’t stop screamin’
Is it love or lust? I can tell you’re feenin’
And I don’t wanna hurt your feelings

SZA Embraces & Acknowledges Her Flaws On “Cry Baby”

SZA fans are finally able to say that LANA, the deluxe of SOS, is finally here. The hinting, teasing, promoting, or whatever you want to call it, was going on for close to two years. Then, when the day did arrive, it wasn’t out immediately. Due to some mixing issues and tweaks, her supporters were really getting anxious. But at 3 p.m. ET, the record made its way onto streaming, and so far, there are some instant hits for us. We already got to a couple of them, with those being “Drive,” “Saturn,” and “30 For 30.” The latter features Kendrick Lamar and it just goes to show how that whenever they link it’s a hit. That song in particular is already sparking some debate online thanks to K. Dot’s verse.

Some think he’s subliminally dissing another rapper, but who really knows. While it’s great that it’s getting all of the attention (for the most part), we wanted to put more people on to “Cry Baby.” For many SZA die-hards this has been a coveted track. Its origins supposedly trace back to a Hyde Park set in London during the summer of this year. Then, it was teased at the end of the full music video for “Drive” yesterday. Now, the completed version is here, and it’s got some great writing and stunning singing, which is what you come to expect from SZA. It finds her taking on her flaws and insecurities and embracing them. Overall, she’s faced a lot of pressure throughout her career; something she acknowledges on the first verse. But the way she was able flip the narrative around on her “Cry Baby” is special. See what we mean by visiting the link below.

I could evolve

Ne-Yo Drops Off Seductive Single “Show Me”

Ne-Yo is keeping it classy and not too dirty on his latest effort, “Show Me.” This is the Arkansas singer-songwriter extraordinaire’s first solo single since “2 Million Secrets” back in June of this year. Whether or not we are in the midst of an album rollout remains to be seen. However, fans are more than ecstatic about this new release. “This is the Neyo I remember it’s giving early early 2000🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥” one fan comments under the music video post. “This song is very intimate. It’s not too sexual. The lyrics are perfect for what the video explains. Good job Ne-Yo for keeping it clean,” another applauds.

“Show Me” finds Ne-Yo entranced by a woman he meets at a club. She’s giving him attention, making herself available, and showing all the right signs. He then invites her back to his pad for a sensual and passionate evening, and things get beautifully romantic between them. As that one fan says, the visual perfectly tells the story in the song, making it that much more impactful. It’s got all of the makings of being another hit for Ne-Yo, which is highly commendable given how long and how much he’s seen in this industry. His run in the 2000s to early 2010s was nothing short of amazing, with every album having multiple smash singles. Even into the 2020s decade, Ne-Yo hasn’t really lost much of his touch and “Show Me” is an example of that.

Sleepy Hallow Shows His Moodier & Melodic Side On “Read This When You Wake Up”

Sleepy Hallow and Sheff G have now both officially delivered. Leading up to the release of both of their projects, both New York drill rappers were dropping singles in tandem. They were put out via these two packs called Don’t Sleep While It’s Lit, and there were two of them. Additionally, they dropped a handful of teaser tracks on their own. Now, with Sleepy Hallow’s Read This When You Wake Up here this weekend, the cycle is now complete.

As we have stated many times before, one thing that separates the Jamaican-born artist apart from most of his drill contemporaries is his ability to meld pop and R&B elements with the rap subgenre. On this project, he’s doing just that, and it’s created one of his moodiest listening experiences yet. Typically, with R&B and pop music, catchy choruses and hooks are key. There are a couple of instances where Sleepy Hallow pulls that off too. “Mmm” is one example, even though it’s just him repeating the song’s title. “Winners In Paris” is another that executes it better with an additional catchy melody to boot. Overall, if you are a fan of Hallow’s more low-key cuts, this album may be for you.

Roy Woods Crafted “Rolling Stone” Made For One Purpose Only

“This is some of the best music I’ve ever made in my life!! Rolling Stone dropping December 6th… This is just the beginning.” These are words direct from the source of this project’s creator, Roy Woods. Most may remember him for his “Drama” collaboration with his OVO boss, Drake. We wouldn’t blame you if that’s what you mostly associate himself with, as the 2015 Exis cut has over 520 million streams. But don’t think that’s all he’s good for. The Brampton, Ontario native has been holding his own for nearly decade. He may not be a household name, but he’s got one heck of a passionate fan base.

Since they got their hands on the lead single for Rolling Stone, “Hold Still,” back in late October, they have been psyched for what was to come. Well, that is this brief, seven-song tape/EP. Based on his quote at the beginning though, there seems to be a bigger project in the works behind the scenes. For now, let’s focus on what’s in front of us. Rolling Stone is the first body of work since his July 2023 album Mixed Emotions. That featured the likes of Jada Kingdom, Coi Leray, and Vory. On this abbreviated listen, which clocks in at just 20 minutes, Roy is able to stick to one consistent theme. That is music made for the bedroom, and it succeeds at its job. He’s got some great vocal displays across it, especially on the closer with 03 Greedo. Check it out below.

Blxst Extends His Explorative “I’ll Always Come Find You” LP With Five Deluxe Tracks

Blxst continues to trend toward being a pillar of modern R&B thanks to his willingness to go out and try things. That’s especially true sonically, and he’s done for the majority of his career. Being a Swiss army knife has led him to some fun collaborations with artists of all kinds. Blxst was then able to collect a diverse feature list of his own for his recent tape, I’ll Always Come Find You.

The four-part album did explore different topics, as well as instrumentals. 2 Chainz, Ty Dolla $ign, Amanda Reifer, and a now late Fatman Scoop were just a mere handful of guests to up the diversity. But clearly, Blxst was not content with just dropping the album how it came. His laundry list of producers was certainly put to good use because Blxst has just dropped off the deluxe of I’ll Always Come Find You this weekend. There are five new tracks, a fifth act, and appearances from DeJ Loaf, K CAMP, and more.

Miguel Delivers One Of His Most Raw Records Yet With “Always Time”

Los Angeles, California singer, songwriter, and producer, Miguel, has become one of R&B’s more elusive faces. Throughout the 2010s, he was dropping records with fair consistency. However, since 2017’s War & Leisure, he’s been a recluse. He’s helped out with other artist’s singles. But solo wise, Miguel has remained pretty silent for the most part. A return could be near though, as he’s been teasing a new album over the last year, Viscera. It’s still very much in limbo, as a release date remains hidden. Potential releases that could make the cut include 2023’s “Give It To Me” and “Number 9” with Lil Yachty.

You could throw “Always Time” in there now as well, which Miguel just dropped this weekend. Over his illustrious and underrated career, the “Sure Thing” artist has proven to be unpredictable. On “Always Time,” he’s wailing over a haunting acoustic instrumental about letting go of a past lover. However, it’s clear that this relationship meant a lot to him. Miguel has spoken very candidly about this single, saying, “This may be the most difficult song I’ve ever had to write — for all of the life lessons and experiences that live between each line,” he began. However, it seems that this song needed to be written, and its ideas had to be spread to release that pent up pain for Miguel. “I’m grateful for the closure it has given me and know it’s the most honest way to begin this chapter of my artistry and relationship with my audience.” Overall, it’s a terrific display of vocal range, rawness, and vulnerability, and this next of his era should be special.

Mary J. Blige Expresses “Gratitude” On Her Potential Final Album

One of the steadiest and most consistent R&B talents of the modern era may be hanging it up soon. Mary J. Blige is back with her 15th studio album, Gratitude, and during the rollout she revealed that she’s considering retirement. “It might be the last studio album. It might be,” she told People. Then, on top of that, the New York native came across as at peace with where she’s at in her life thanks to music. In speaking with the daytime talk show Sherri about the title of the album, she said, “It’s called Gratitude because that’s where I am. I mean, look at my life right now. I’m in a constant state of gratitude.”

Blige added, “I feel good. I have jobs and opportunities. I’m healthy. My family’s healthy. I have people around that care for me and love me. And I have amazing fans. I’m so grateful to my fans for all the years of love that they’ve given me and support.” We will just have to keep tabs on her going forward, especially when she heads out on tour. Mary J. Blige is taking Gratitude across the US starting at the end of January and wrapping things up on April 14. The For My Fans Tour will also include openers Ne-Yo and Mario, so it could be a nice victory lap for what’s been a stellar career.

Benji. Turns The “Love Gun” Series Into A Trilogy With The Final Entry

Benji. is one our favorite talents from the Spillage Village crew thanks to his stunning voice. No matter what sort of track he hops on, you can almost guarantee that he’s going to deliver on his end. A great example of this is “Bobby Boucher,” arguably the group’s catchiest banger. Why it’s not a captivating vocal display, his ability to match a vibe of song like this one is pretty incredible. The cockiness is heavy and Benji. manages to put on a cool, calm, and collected persona with tons of personality. On top of that, he produced the track, making him that much more of star. This weekend though, we are talking exclusively about Benji. instead of the gang because his new EP, Love Gun 3, is here.

This is a series that the Pittsburgh born artist has been eyeing on completing and he’s getting to fulfill that promise to himself here. The trilogy kicked off in October of last year, with the second entry actually landing in July of this year. Benji. said farewell to the Love Gun era on social media, expressing gratuity for being able to bring his ideas to life. However, the now GRAMMY nominated act is looking toward what’s next. “Last but not least, Love Gun 3 🎸❤ out & available EVERYWHERE! Happy and proud to bring this trilogy to a close and excited for what lies ahead!” We are too Benji. and we are loving the EP as well. Let us know what you think by submitting your thoughts in the comments below.
