EARTHGANG & Spillage Village Deliver 5-Song EP “ROBOPHOBIA”

Back in November 2023, experimentative rap duo EARTHGANG gave us a first look at the type of direction their next project would take. That path is one of funk, soul, R&B, with some of their hip-hop knowledge thrown in for good measure. On Instagram earlier this month they shared this message. “Robophobia is a sonic dive into a new terrain for @EarthGang as we explore new soundscapes and topics on imperfections, connections and projections within humanity’s relationship with each other and AI.” “BLACKLIGHT” was the introductory track for the now-released tape.

EARTHGANG’s ROBOPHOBIA is also a bit of sequel for the Atlanta natives. Back in September of last year, they worked their extended rap collective Spillage Village to bring a five-track EP, RIP Human Art. These two projects do share some commonalities both thematically and curation wise. As for the latter, this latest entry in the EARTHGANG vs The Algorithm series is also five tracks.

Listen To ROBOPHOBIA By EARTHGANG & Spillage Village

For the themes both are centering around technology, imperfections, and our relationship with AI. Which makes sense considering their outlook they mentioned earlier. All in all it is a very solid EP on both the writing and production fronts. It all sounds futuristic, vibey, and fun all at the same time.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP, ROBOPHOBIA, by EARTHGANG and Spillage Village? Do you like this sonic direction for the duo, why or why not? Who had the best feature on the record and why? What songs are you gravitating toward the most so far? The Alchemist Announces “Hall & Nash 2” With Westside Gunn & Conway The Machine

Just when we thought Christmas Day couldn’t get any better in 2023, we have a new (and hopefully fantastic) album to look forward to. Moreover, The Alchemist announced that he will be releasing the original version of the Hall & Nash 2 mixtape with Westside Gunn and Conway The Machine. This will continue the prolific run that these artists have been on for years now, but it comes with some historical context. It’s a sequel project to the Griselda rappers’ original tape from around 2015, and this original version will drop exclusively in physical formats (vinyl, cassettes, and CDs) on Friday, December 29 with a new version coming later in 2024. Let’s allow Uncle Al to explain.

“When i first linked with @westsidegunn & @whoisconway the original plan was to do a Hall & Nash 2 tape,” The Alchemist wrote. “From the first day in the lab, i knew i needed these guys on my beats more than they needed my beats. The s**t was coming out cr*zy. They linked with [ScHoolboy Q] one day at my spot and made one. We knew we had something good. While we were finishing the project, they signed their deal with Shady.

The Alchemist Unveils Hall & Nash 2 As A Physical-Only Release

“We ended up changing the plan to drop H&N2, & over time used some of the songs for different things,” The Alchemist continued. “But a handful of songs never came out, & the original version of the album was never released. Now for the first time, the OG version of Hall & Nash 2 will be released on vinyl cd and tape. Collectors item for the day ones. FRIDAY. 12 NOON E.S.T. ALCRECORDS.COM. Limited version artwork by @ral_duke . Next year me @daringer_ Wes & Conway already cooking an official HALL & NASH 2. u have been warned.

Meanwhile, this comes after the legendary producer cosigned Kid Cudi’s idea for a collaborative project. As such, we could be getting a whole lot more greatness from these creatives in 2024, which shouldn’t surprise anyone. After all, they put out too much amazing stuff to expect any less from them. Queen Naija Shares Some Gorgeous Vocals On Her New EP “After The Butterflies”

Queen Naija is a talented singer, there is no disputing that. She is back to put her skills on full display with a brand-new, 10-track EP, After the Butterflies. Over the course of 2023, Naija had been releasing a single here and there to keep her fans satisfied. One of the songs that had some people talking was a pretty unexpected collaboration with NBA YoungBoy.

“No Fake Love” had the contemporary R&B flare with some surprising well-placed vocals from the Lousiana rapper. His lower tone fit in well with the vibe of the track, and is a reason why it is becoming a hit in her catalog. Little did we know, it would be a single to the new EP we have now. In addition to that feature, Naija also taps some R&B powerhouses.

Conway The Machine & J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League Working On New Project, Erik Ortiz Confirms

Conway The Machine is reportedly working on a new album that will be entirely produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. Member Erik “Rook” Ortiz confirmed the plans during an interview with HipHopDX on Monday.

“We can do it all, we can carry a whole album and we can make it sound phenomenal,” Ortiz began. “Next up for us is Conway The Machine. We’re doing that whole album with Conway. We’re in talks with a lot of other artists right now to do their whole albums. I can’t really say right now, but some really, really cool big names. But you should expect that from us — whole albums, whole projects from J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and it should be fun, man.”

The comments from Ortiz come after the production duo worked with Jeezy on his upcoming double album, I Might Forgive…But I Don’t Forget. That project is scheduled to drop on Friday, November 3. He added: “And so Jeezy’s is [our] first foray into full-album territory [they’ll be handling one half of the double album]. I think Hit-Boy knocked it out the park with Nas and he set the blueprint, and I’m glad that we can offer up something really cool like this.”

As for Jeezy’s album, Ortiz says it will handle “very mature” subjects. “As you work on the album, y’know, you start talking about life, talking about music, experience and all that,” he said. “So it just became more songs and more songs and more songs, and then one day, [Jeezy] was like, ‘Y’know what? This gon’ be a double album.’ [The album is] very mature. He opens up about a lot of subjects — some things people might be curious about or never even knew about him. It’s very meticulously put together.” The album arrives after the release of Jeezy’s recent memoir, Adversity For Sale: Ya Gotta Believe.

Memphis Bleek Says JAY-Z Isn’t Interested In Doing A Collaborative Album

Memphis Bleek says that he is still trying to convince JAY-Z to team up for a collaborative album, but he doesn’t think it will happen. He discussed the possibility during a recent interview with TMZ.

“I’m on that boat too. I wish!” he told the outlet when asked about the idea. From there, he admitted that he still doesn’t think it will happen. “I don’t think so. Hov too far gone, man! I was supposed to try this when he had $100 million, not a billion. When you got a billion, it’s hard to get you in the booth. Only his wife can do it.”

Despite the odds being unlikely, Bleak is still holding out hope that his persistence will pay off. “Hold it ’cause I’m trying. I still send him joints, I get shot down like a clay pigeon,” he joked. “But something gon’ stick one day, ya know? But if we could drop an EP together, that would be — c’mon, that would close off the whole trilogy of the ‘Coming of Age’ story. [Fans] need something classic.” Check out the interview below.

Memphis Bleak Discusses Working With JAY-Z

The pair grew up in Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects and first worked together on JAY-Z’s Reasonable Doubt song, “Coming of Age.” JAY-Z previously reflected on his friendship with Memphis Bleek in his 2010 book Decoded. “I collared him and said, ‘Look, I’m making an album and you can be on it, but you have to learn this song in 24 hours. You don’t learn it, then you’re not on it,’” Jay recalled. “He took the paper I handed him and looked it over. I’d written the verse down for him in some chicken scratch… He came to my apartment the next day and spit the whole thing like he’d been doing it his whole life.”

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown Unleash “Scaring The Hoes: DLC Pack” EP

One of the best albums of 2023 just got an upgrade, and it’s just as raw and impressive as its first volume. Moreover, JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown just released the Scaring The H*es: DLC Pack, a four-track expansion on their stellar collaborative project from this year. Peggy’s obviously back on production, and his instrumentals are still a wonder of impressive sampling, gritty drum patterns, and dynamic motion. Furthermore, these beats provide a wild but addictive bed for both MCs to dominate, with hilarious references and wordplay plus some sharp lyricism. Overall, if you’re not a fan of the fringes of hip-hop that become more and more important with each year, then let this be your starting point.

First off, the opening track “Guess What B***h, We Back H*e!” is a classic flow and formula for the duo, with woozy synths and hard-hitting drums. However, “HERMANOS” takes things in a more laidback direction (instrumentally, at least) with a breezy guitar sample, reminiscent verses from JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown, and a wild outro. In addition, the following cut “Tell Me Where To Go” is also a chilled-out cut with a great Al Green sample, calm delivery, and a solid boom-bap rhythm. Also, the final song brings back the gospel chops with distorted drums and a hilarious but sharp acapella outro from Danny.

In other news concerning the rappers, the Veteran artist looks like he’ll have a busy year, with him saying he has two more albums in the year. While it’s unclear whether this EP counts, he did spark rumors of a collab tape with Denzel Curry. Meanwhile, the unkowhatimsayin¿ creative recently spoke on working through writer’s block with Logic, and as complicated as the creative process might be, it’ll probably yield some more gold from all artists involved in the future. If you want to check out this new EP, find it on YouTube and peep the tracklist below. Also, stay up to date on HNHH for the latest news and updates on JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown.

KayCyy Links Up With Gesaffelstein For “TW2052” Project

If you are a fan of KayCyy, you know that he is an incredibly unique artist with a great sound. Overall, he has been getting some pretty major co-signs from some big artists. For instance, in 2021, he even got to be part of Kanye West’s Donda. Although he was eventually taken off “Keep My Spirit Alive,” he was immediately remembered by fans who were paying attention. These days, he continues to make his own music, all while performing at huge festivals like Rolling Loud. Simply put, he is here to stay.

Subsequently, he has been teasing a brand-new project with the likes of Gesaffelstein. Gesaffelstein is a super producer of sorts who has worked with the likes of The Weeknd. He has a very dark and brooding electronic sound that fans love. Overall, we get to hear a glimpse of this project with the amazing song “Roll The Dice” in which KayCyy shows off his singing chops. Now, they are here with a full 7-track EP together called TW2052.

KayCyy Continues His Ascent

Gesaffelstein’s production is fantastic all across the album. Loud drums, electronic soundscapes, and quite a bit of ambiance allow for KayCyy to shine. Some of these tracks take an industrial hip-hop approach, such as “No Cold.” However, the first three songs have more of an r&b vibe that some could compare to The Weeknd and others of that ilk. Either way, this is KayCyy at his absolute best. He is experimenting quite a bit and is doing some great things here. This new project cements him as someone to continue watching.

With KayCyy making big moves, it will be interesting to see what he sets out to accomplish next. Of course, he is still young and still has so much upside as an artist. That said, let us know what you think of this latest project, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will always bring you the latest releases from some of the biggest artists.

  1. Roll The Dice
  2. Ashley’s Heartbeat
  3. Timeless
  4. No Cold
  5. Okay!
  6. The Sun
  7. Love & Hate
