DJ Akademiks Chimes In On Rumors That Nicki Minaj Dissed Drake & PARTYNEXTDOOR

A lot of people are thirsty for more Drake beef this year, whether they’re the most ardent of OVO Stans or the biggest Drizzy haters this side of Compton. But many of his fans also know to be wary of narratives and speculation that people are hating on him or that he’s hating on others, and a fanbase that relates to this caution all too well is the army of Barbz that is analyzing Nicki Minaj’s latest livestream. Moreover, she seemed to refer to “ugly boy 1” and “ugly boy 1” for working with “ugly girls,” and many on both sides took this to mean that she was angry at the 6ix God and his OVO partner PARTYNEXTDOOR for working with Latto and Ice Spice respectively.

“Yo, Nicki is f***ing petty, bro,” DJ Akademiks said of the alleged Nicki Minaj, Drake, and PARTYNEXTDOOR situation. “I can’t believe that Nicki really treats the music industry like it’s high school. People are making money, man, people are making millions of dollars. You’re making millions of dollars. People are gonna collab with who they want. None of the beef that y’all have is that serious because, otherwise, you’d be pulling up on these b***hes.”

DJ Akademiks Speaks On Nicki Minaj’s Possible Drake & PND Disses

But again, for many Drake and Nicki Minaj fans alike, this narrative from Ak and others doesn’t make too much sense. For one, a lot of Barbz are claiming that Nicki had prefaced this by saying that they were going to make up a fake story to prove how quick the media is to grab headlines… Which is a really weird way of going about it, but it seems to have worked if true. On the other hand, the Young Money partners were doing great right amid the Kendrick battle, it seems like she played their collabs after her rant during this livestream, and there aren’t really any valid or surefire indicators of who she’s talking about in her rant other than recent context informing fans’ interpretations.

As such, there might be at least some friction with these collaborations, but we doubt that there’s actually any beef to report on here. A similar conclusion applies to the alleged beef between Drake and Lil Wayne, with Weezy sending some interesting signals as of late. But just like with this Nicki Minaj situation, we doubt that Ak and others are accurate in fully believing it. Nevertheless, only time will tell, so we’ll see what continues to happen with Young Money in the public eye…

Elliott Wilson Cosigns DJ Akademiks’ Theory As To Why Nicki Minaj And Others Are Hating On Him

Elliott Wilson is one of hip-hop’s most celebrated media voices, but thanks to recent situations with Charlamagne Tha God and Drake, it’s clear that he’s also among the most hated-on. Nicki Minaj recently seemed to fuel this fire by insinuating that he’s too old to chase Internet headlines, and DJ Akademiks questioned why some people are so quick to dismiss him. “Why everybody hate Elliott Wilson, man?” Ak began his remarks, a clip of which Wilson posted on Twitter while saluting the streamer for his breakdown. “This has to be studied. So, this [Nicki Minaj rant] was about Elliott Wilson. Elliott Wilson, ironically, is 53. Recently we’ve seen Charlamagne get at him, Drake got at him, and now Nicki Minaj basically, in a roundabout way, is getting at him. I’m wondering why everybody hates Elliott Wilson so bad. I’m wondering if it’s a few things.

“Is it because of his age or is it because of his actions?” DJ Akademiks continued. “You know, again, I think Elliott’s kind of doing what a lot of other people are doing in media. Yeah, I really don’t know why people hate Elliott Wilson. I think he’s doing what the majority of media personalities are doing. One thing I’ll say is that it’s clearly working. Artists hope to control the media or control the thoughts of the media. And when you get artists upset at you, as long as you’re not operating in bad faith, you’re probably doing something right or you’re operating and giving your thoughts against the grain. Now, I think Elliott’s a little bit different, and I think this is why he’s been getting dragged by a lot of people. Yeah, he did an interview with these people.

DJ Akademiks Wonders Why Some Artists Hate Elliott Wilson

“Maybe that makes sense,” DJ Akademiks added. “Didn’t they [Elliott and Nicki] do a CRWN together? Oh, they did. Now it’s making a little bit more sense. Like, Elliott’s got those [Nicki Minaj and Drake] interviews, and I think people feel like he’s regressed. I had to come up talking about the artists ’cause them n***as ain’t want to talk to me. However, I think with Elliott, they looked at him like someone they respected. Someone who was a great journalist that would talk to them, and they feel like he’s now… I hate to use the word ‘regressed,’ but they feel like now he’s in the lane of, like, gossiping. That’s the only way I could size it up. Because I can’t tell why they all mad at him, you get what I mean?

“But I think these people look at him like, ‘Yo, I gave you an interview. I did an interview with you back in the day, like, yo, what’s going on?’” DJ Akademiks concluded. “Now, I don’t know what Elliott Wilson necessarily has said about Nicki Minaj recently or what he’s posted about her. However, it’s interesting to see how he’ll kind of take this and run with it. S**t, I think he’s in his villain arc. I think Drake said something about him, he went crazy on Drake. And listen, yo, Elliott reminds me of me when Big Ak had to come out, you feel what I’m saying? When everybody was playing with me. I think that’s the mode that Elliott Wilson is actually on. I’m wondering if he’s gonna address it.”

Nicki Minaj’s Sister Responds After Rapper’s Alleged Shots At Her

Surprisingly, Nicki Minaj might be stirring up some family drama as of late, as people think that a recent social media rant might’ve taken aim at her sister, Ming Luanli. For those unaware, Ming has apparently done multiple interviews recently talking about her relationship with the rapper, especially as she tries to embark on a musical career of her own. However, given what Minaj said in the audio clips below, some people assume she isn’t happy with how her sister has spoken about her and referenced her in her own come-up. Of course, this is all pretty vague and too personal of an issue for the media to cast proper judgement, but it seems like an overall messy situation.

“Why would a person speak on a person they love?” Nicki Minaj’s comments began, allegedly aimed at her sister Ming Luanli. “Why would a person speak openly about a private person, why would a person do that, why would a person do that? Who would you speak about in your interviews if someone wanted to interview you? Yourself, right?

“It’s always a bad sign if a person who’s not even in your line of work, someone who has never been successful in your line of work is doing interviews with people in your line of work,” Nicki Minaj continued. “Like, hmm… I think y’all think talent, like, you can catch it like a cold. Or maybe people can pass it through the genes. Even with blood relation, what God has given to me is mine. You have to go and get your own. You have to discover whatever it is that you’re great at. Meanwhile, Ming Luanli actually responded to Nicki Minaj’s comments whether the Trinidadian MC intended to target her sister or not. Moreover, Luanli left a comment under the We In Miami podcast’s coverage of Minaj’s rant, which was one of the platforms that Luanli spoke on her sister with. “I still love her, I tried as a sister to please her but I realize I gotta please God first cause only he can judge the gift he gave me,” she expressed.

Nicki Minaj Accused Of Ignoring Ice Spice’s IG Comment

Queen Barb Nicki Minaj is being accused of throwing shade towards millennial rap queen Ice Spice after the Y2K! star commented on one of Minaj’s post and she ignored it, which was embarrassingly obvious to everyone paying attention.

Minaj posted a throwback pic of herself on her Instagram page yesterday(August 4) for her 229M followers, captioning the post, “17 years ago [ribbon emoji] Crimped my own hair [tick emoji] Did my own makeup [tick emoji] 2 padded bras to make my boobs look bigger [tick emoji] Barbz!!!!”

Fans and artists alike, including Sexxy Red, Kim Petras, Akbar V and even Ice Spice, commented on Nicki’s 20-year-old pic and Nicki liked all of their comments except Ice’s.

Fans were the first to notice that Nicki ignored Spice’s smiley face and and heart eye emoji comment, which has now been removed from the post. Either Ice deleted her comment or Nicki removed it, but the two are still following each other on Instagram.

Fans on social media were quick to react, with one commenting, “She being ignored deliberately ice’s comment has the most likes…oh this is messy.”

Another wrote, “She is the only one without a like [crying face emoji] Nicki is sick.”

An apparent Ice Spice fan claimed that Nicki was jealous of the “Munch” rapper, saying, “She’s taking Nicki’s spot. She already won. Nicki is 40+… her run has to end just like Beyonces and all the greats.”

Did Nicki Minaj Just Throw Shade At Ice Spice In Her Latest Instagram Post?

Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice became a beloved and fitting duo thanks to their collaborative run in 2023, but things didn’t take long to become a bit more complicated. Moreover, you likely remember that the latter seemed to disparage the former in a series of leaked tweets, and Spice later spoke on how she and Minaj aren’t the closest, but still have a good working relationship and have no issues with each other. Some Barbz, though, are reading quite deeply into their Queen’s latest Instagram post. Specifically, they noted how she liked some of the comments that other celebrities such as Sexyy Red and Akbar V left for her… but not her “Princess Diana” collaborator’s comments.

“17 years ago [ribbon emoji],” Nicki Minaj captioned the throwback Instagram post in question. “Crimped my own hair [tick emoji] Did my own makeup [tick emoji] 2 padded bras to make my boobs look bigger [tick emoji] Barbz!!!!” As for Ice Spice’s comment (which was a heart-eyes emoji), it’s actually no longer visible on the post, so she either deleted it or Nicki herself took it down. Still, fans had already noticed this and spread it like wildfire online, but it’s probably a massive reach. After all, they’re still following each other and it’s probably very easy for Roman to miss an IG comment or two because of how active and engaged-with her page is.

We don’t have the closest relationship, you know?” Ice Spice told Rolling Stone of Nicki Minaj in a recent interview. “But we’re definitely good. We’re mutuals. We had smash records together. I love us together, I think the world does too.” “I don’t really think she cares about s**t like that coming from a random girl,” she added about her leaked texts calling Nicki “ungrateful” and “delusional.” “But what I said in those texts was just in a moment of frustration around contract negotiations. I could have chose different words. But at the end of the day, regardless of how I felt in that moment, [Nicki] is still somebody I respect as an artist. I’m always going to admire everything she’s done for me and the culture.”

“Sometimes I’m tempted to engage with certain things,” Ice Spice previously told Bootleg Kev about the situation. “But I also realized you’re just going to give it legs to grow and run with and sometimes I think you can over-explain yourself a little bit. So, I just like to focus on what I can control and what really matters.”

Spotify’s New Art Exhibit For Women In Rap Has Fans Questioning Nicki Minaj’s Absence

Spotify’s new exhibit honoring women in hip-hop had a glaring omission, and some fans are pretty upset about it. The Gold Standard Exhibition has taken over The Hole Gallery in New York City with portraits painted by Manon Biernacki, who depicted Cardi B, City Girls, Doja Cat, Flo Milli, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Latto, Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie, and Sexyy Red in a realist style reminiscent of Renaissance paintings. However, when images from the show hit social media, fans of one rapper in particular — Nicki Minaj — expressed their displeasure.

“And no Nicki ??” questioned one. “Wow Spotify the most streamed female rapper of all time ??” Another railed, “Nicki gottaaaa be on the mfn ceiling somewhere because this is ridiculous. Y’all gotta be out y’all rabbit a$$ minds.” One more added a slew of other women in rap to their complaints, writing, “where is lil kim, nicki minaj, missy elliot, lauryn hill, iggy, salt n pepa? if this is the bar then the bar is an inch off the floor.”

Of course, there are arguments to be made for any number of “exclusions,” but at the end of the day, there were no criteria given for the selections other than that they’ve all got relatively recent releases currently trending on Spotify. While that number would include Nicki Minaj, it would also include a bunch of other names that weren’t selected. None of that will ever prevent the Barbz from lashing out, but then again, if they didn’t have something to complain about, would they even be the Barbz?

Summer Walker Puts Spotify On Blast For Leaving Out Nicki Minaj & Others At Gold Standard Exhibition

There are a whole host of legendary female rappers that have graced the mic over the genre’s history. Each one has had a unique impact on the game. However, there may never be no one more influential than Nicki Minaj. Many credit her for the trends that exist in the current landscape, and rightfully so. It seems every female star today takes some sort of inspiration from Onika. Sometimes, the Barbz can shove in your face a little too much, but that will never truly take away from her looming presence over the latest crop of talent. These reasons are why fans, including Summer Walker, are confused and upset with Spotify over a recent omission.

According to AllHipHop, the streaming giant put together a special exhibit called The Gold Standard Exhibition in New York City. It features tons of stunning portraits of all of the “ladies setting the bar for hip-hop”. Present faces such as Latto, Flo Milli, Sexyy Red, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, and more were featured. However, Summer Walker was quick to point out the exclusion of Nicki Minaj, Lil’ Kim, and Missy Elliott in the comments.

“I don’t even listen to hella Nicki cause I’m a r&b lover. But where is the Queen.. or Lil Kim at least or Missy Elliott… this mad disrespectful. This why I make my music n go home the industry weird”, Walker said. Fans were equally thrown off, too. “Kim, Nicki, Foxy, Lauryn, Eve, Trina, Missy, Da Brat, Left Eye, MC Lyte, Roxanne Shonte, Queen Latifah, YoYo. I’m sure I’m missing more but the disrespect”, another adds. This is certainly alarming, but it could be only one way to view it. There’s a chance that Spotify made this for the new generation looking to take over and carry the torch of the Nickis, Kims, Hills, and etc. It seems that was the case, but if not, then this is certainly a massive misstep.

What are your thoughts on Summer Walker calling out Spotify for the omission of several female rap greats at The Gold Standard Exhibition? Do you think the streaming platform was highlighting the new stars of hip-hop, or did they just screw up? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Nicki Minaj Roasted For Just Now Realizing She’s An Adult

If there is one thing that will always remain true in life is that we are all going to grow up. It is a natural process that we all must endure. It really is a sobering reality that some people are not ready to come to grips with. Some rush into adulthood, while others would rather push that inevitable truth as far down as possible. It seems like rap superstar Nicki Minaj is a part of the latter’s camp as evidenced by a recent tweet. “So, ummm….WE’RE the adults now? Goodness, 🫣 it all happened so fast. Do yall offer summer school? Night school?”, she questioned.

A lot of her fans were in agreeance with the Pink Friday 2 artist. One Barb writes, “Girl I just stream blessings and continue moving forward”. “I’m too damn grown now & it’s kicking my behind slowly but surely. Working full time, completing my masters, paying my car payment. Nobody ever told me it comes this fast”, another adds. However, there are also a fair share of commenters who are simply floored by Nicki’s Twitter thoughts.

Some Nicki Minaj Fans Are Astounded With Her

“Nicki go to bed baby”, one X user bluntly states. Others were coming at the musician for just being one of the older ones in the industry. “You been an adult for like 40 years😭”. “Baby you the new elderly”. However, same came to her defense, pointing out her responsibilities as a mother while working in a demanding industry. “Since yall wanna act all ignor@nt, imma explain! When you have a kid, and now you have someone you’re responsible for, it’s a different type of “Being an adult.” It’ll done on you differently that you’re the adult now 😂”. Clearly, this started a huge debate across social media, and it leads us to wonder where y’all stand.

Angel Reese Is Nicki Minaj Fans’ Latest Target After Supposedly ‘Disrespecting’ Her On TikTok

angel reese

Angel Reese has become hip-hop’s favorite basketball player over the past few months, drawing Latto to sit courtside at one of her games and appearing onstage with Megan Thee Stallion during her Chicago tour stop.

But fans of one rapper have seemingly turned on the record-breaking WNBA star after she supposedly “disrespected” Nicki Minaj in a video on TikTok. The Barbz are now attempting to undercut the All-Star, digging up more examples of perceived anti-Minaj sentiment. So, what’s got the notoriously prickly fanbase riled this time?

In the TikTok video, Reese and some friends are seen lounging in the entrance hall of a mansion listening to the remix of Sexyy Red’s breakout single “Pound Town.” Reese appears for a few seconds to lip-sync to the lyrics and lightly twerk, but slides out of the frame as Minaj’s verse starts. This was, in the view of some Barbz, a sign that Reese does not mess with the Queens rapper, and the green light to dig up as much dirt as they could find.

It didn’t take long for them to find a video of Reese answering an interview question about who she’d want to perform if she hosted SNL in which she names Cardi B, GloRilla, Latto, and Megan Thee Stallion. The Barbz noted that she did NOT say Nicki Minaj — because nobody is allowed to have their own opinions, I guess — and that everybody she DID name has been targeted by Minaj (conveniently ignoring the common denominator here).

Of course, cooler heads have pointed out how much Barbz appear to be overreacting.

Angel Reese Draws Wrath Of The Barbz For Alleged Nicki Minaj Disrespect

Fanbases in general are unique, obviously. But Nicki Minaj’s, also known as The Barbz, are a different breed. If we had to select one word in order to describe them, it would be toxic. Sadly, it’s part of the reason why the superstar femcee can be seen as controversial. Fans are great for a lot of reasons, but sometimes they can taint the image of the musician. The Barbz do exactly that and quite often as well. If they spot a sliver of what could be disrespect, you best believe they are all over it. Unfortunately, the target in their crosshairs is someone who really does not need nor deserve the extra criticism. That would be WNBA star Angel Reese, who is being accused of hating on Nicki Minaj in a recent TikTok video.

The Chicago Sky forward is seen with some friends of hers, with one of them dancing. Reese joins in before Nicki begins to rap. However, has soon as the Pink Friday 2 creator begins, the athlete dips out of the camera’s frame. Yes, this is apparently a slight to the almighty Queen of New York and The Barbz are letting Reese hear about it.

Angel Reese Has Made Another New Enemy In The Form Of Nicki’s Fans

They are digging up old clips, such as one of her being asked about which musical guest she would like to have on if she were to host an episode of SNL. In that interview she listed all of Nicki’s foes such as Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Cardi B, and GloRilla. It is worth mentioning that Reese had been onstage with several of these femcees. Latto had even popped out to the basketball player’s pro debut to show her support. It’s most likely playing a role in this Barbz attack and at the end of the day, all we can do is throw our hands up in the air and sigh. Thankfully, though, some Twitter users came to Reese’s defense.

What are your thoughts on Nicki Minaj’s fans claiming that Angel Reese is disrespecting her? Do you think her moving out of frame when she start’s rapping warrants this backlash, why or why not? Does the Trinidadian artist have the pettiest fanbase of any MC? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Angel Reese and Nicki Minaj.
