Dr. Dre Wants To Try Out For The 2028 Summer Olympics

After a highly successful Summer Olympic Games in Paris, they passed the flag over to Los Angeles. The City of Angels is hosting the event in 2028, and it will certainly be a star-studded affair. Long Beach native Snoop Dogg, who served as a correspondent during the last two Games, will be unlikely to miss such a homecoming opportunity. The same goes for his partner-in-crime, Dr. Dre. Dre and Snoop performed at a special event on Venice Beach to celebrate the handoff. Now, Dre confirms that he will be in Los Angeles in four years. It is reasonable to assume that he will perform at the opening ceremony. However, he surprised fans when he told Nischelle Turner of Entertainment Tonight that he plans to try out for Olympic competition.

In the interview, Dre announced that he plans to try out for the 2028 Olympics. When Turner asked what sport he was interested in, he gave a surprising answer. “Archery,” he said. “I’m deadass serious.” Dre admitted that he’s been an avid archer for much of his life. He revealed to Turner that he had been on his junior high school’s archery team. He took a break from the sport when his music career blossomed into what it is today, but picked it back up when his son bought him equipment for Father’s Day.

Dr. Dre To Try Out For Olympic Archery In 2028

“I have it set up in my backyard and I heard qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet. I practice at 90,” Dre added. If he qualifies for the 2028 Summer Olympics, he would be among the oldest athletes to ever compete. He would be 63 years old in Los Angeles. The oldest athlete to compete at the 2024 Paris Games was Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo, a Spanish equestrian.

Aside from his Olympic dreams, Dre has enjoyed a strong year. He and Snoop Dogg are working on Missionary, the long-awaited sequel to Snoop’s legendary debut album Doggystyle. He made a cameo at Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out concert, playing “California Love” before introducing “Not Like Us,” which Lamar played five times. Dre is aiming high for the Los Angeles Olympic Games, and being able to compete in front of his hometown would be an unforgettable honor.

Tyler, The Creator Shares Harsh Opinion About A Lot Of New Rappers

Tyler, The Creator has proven again and again that he is an artist’s artist. He truly tries to evolve and experiment with sounds, textures, and genres, to bring a different listening experience to each project. It’s why he’s become one of the biggest names in hip-hop, especially over the last several years or so. It’s been quite a bit since we got a new project from the California chameleon, with CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST being the most recent in 2021. We did get the extended version, The Estate Sale in 2023, but not a truly fresh and separate LP. We are going to hear him collaborate with A$AP Rocky again when DON’T BE DUMB drops on August 30.

While we continue to hope for new music, Tyler, The Creator is sharing some pretty blunt comments/opinions on the current landscape of hip-hop. This is nothing new as he is going to speak out if he feels passionate about something. In this case, the IGOR creator is putting a lot of the new rappers on blast for not respecting the art form and thus do not deserve the musician title. In a repost from NFR Podcast, the clip sees Tyler sitting down with Maverick Carter, a close friend and collaborator of LeBron James.

Tyler, The Creator Thinks A Lot Of Rappers Aren’t True Musicians

He hosts his own show called Mavericks which is produced by Bron and Mav’s media company, SpringHill. His sit-down with Tyler will air on YouTube tomorrow, August 14, according to the teaser. In the short preview, he says, “There are so many n****s out right now who aren’t musicians, that are getting treated like musicians because they make meme records”, he states. Later, Tyler adds, “[They] publicly will be like, ‘I don’t give a f*** about music, I just do this s*** for money’”. Hilariously, at the end of the video, there’s an audio bite of Tyler saying that someone’s going to take this out of context. We will have to wait to hear the full conversation, but it seems pretty clear cut to us that Tyler doesn’t have a lot of respect for this new wave of talent.

What are your thoughts on Tyler, The Creator’s feelings toward the new crop of rappers? Do you think he makes a valid point, why or why not? Are you going to tune into this episode of Mavericks with Mav Carter? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Tyler, The Creator. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

Kanye West Plays New Song With Skepta At “Vultures 2” Party

Kanye West premiered a new song with British grime MC Skepta tentatively titled “Cash Cow” at a private party for Vultures. Footage from the event offers a snippet of the previously unheard track. The few seconds of audio features Ye and Skepta delivering bars one after the other. The beat sounds more in line with what Skepta raps over than what fans know Ye for.

It is not clear if the track will be saved for Vultures 3. There is a chance that Ye adds it to Vultures 2 as one of the album’s many bonus tracks. Considering West’s spotty release history in the last ten years, there is also a possibility that the song never sees the light of day. Kanye West and Skepta’s relationship goes back nearly a decade. However, they have yet to officially appear on a track together. Skepta previously shared a snippet of West on a remix of his track, “Peace of Mind,” during West’s rollout for Donda, his tenth LP.

New Kanye West & Skepta Snippet Played At Vultures 2 Party

In addition, Skepta received credit as a songwriter on Kanye West’s 2018 track, “I Thought About Killing You” alongside fellow British rapper Wiley. The duo’s most famous crossover came at the 2015 BRIT Awards. At that show, West premiered “All Day” alongside Allan Kingdom, Theophilus London and several UK hip-hop stars.

Fans probably would have preferred a collaboration between the two a few years ago, when Kanye West was closer to an elite rapper than he is now. Vultures 2 recevied the lowest marks of West’s career, sitting at a critic score of 40 on Metacritic. One of the most persistent critiques of the new release is that West is proving to be increasingly less capable as an MC. You can read our review of the album here. Skepta’s first solo LP in five years, Knife and Fork, is scheduled to release before the end of 2024. However, since he first announced it, he has not shared any further details. Maybe Kanye West will find inspiration in making music with the grime legend.

Erica Banks Keeps Egging On Renni Rucci Beef By Clowning Her Baby’s Name

Erica Banks and Renni Rucci’s beef began back during their Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta days, and it doesn’t seem like it’s letting up any time soon if the former has anything to say about it. Moreover, during a recent conversation, Banks basically clowned the “Bend It Over” femcee amid discussions about what she should name her baby. “You can name her… I don’t give a f**k about what she names her,” Erica remarked. “I don’t even know why the f**k they asked me that. But I could honestly give less than a f**k about what they name that damn baby.”

Of course, this doesn’t really go at Renni Rucci directly, as plenty of readers could probably care less about what even their best friends name their children. But still, it’s hard not to interpret some sort of shade with Erica Banks’ strong words, or at the very least, making it very clear that the “H*e Please” rapper wants nothing to do with Rucci’s personal life or coverage. We wonder if this is even a strong enough stance to respond to, although involving kids in tense situations rarely ends well. Maybe this will be the fuel for another spat or the more likely scenario instead, which is that it won’t really amount to much.

Erica Banks Couldn’t Care Less About Renni Rucci’s Baby’s Name

Regardless, Erica Banks and Renni Rucci are doing their own thing these days and just focused on whatever it is they are the most busy with. For the former, it’s been constant critiques of her BBL, something that she’s shown off proudly and spoken about a lot in the past. For this sort of body image conversation, we know how toxic and superficial they can be on social media, so we don’t blame Banks for her staunchness.

Don’t waste your whole life looking at comments, you know?” Erica Banks said about the negative backlash. “When I first came into this whole world, you know, it was hard for me to kind of not look at comments. ‘Cause I was new to it, you know? But over time, I was just like, ‘I’m never going to see these people.’ I can’t allow, you know, this app to upset me and hurt my feelings. So, you know, that would just be my best advice to that.”

Chinx’s Alleged Killer Hit With 23-Year Prison Sentence

Quincy Homere, who previously pleaded guilty to the 2015 killing of Chinx, received a 23-year prison sentence in court on Monday. Authorities argued Homere was jealous of the late rapper and, in turn, took his life. NYPD detectives had been trying to put the case together for years.

“Quincy Homere was sentenced today to 23 years in prison for killing Lionel Pickens Jr., a successful rapper, husband, and father who was mercilessly gunned down in 2015,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a statement. “Homere fired numerous rounds into Pickens’ car while he was stopped at a red light in Briarwood and then fled, leaving the young man for dead. Nothing can undo what happened, but I hope today’s sentence brings some solace to Pickens’ loved ones as they continue to grieve.”

In pleading guilty, Homere took a lesser charge of manslaughter. That result disappointed Chinx’s widow, Janelli Caceres-Pickens, who was hoping for a murder two charge. She wrote on Instagram, last month: “Manslaughter has me livid n heartbroken. He deserves to spend his life in jail … but we will be there August 12 to hear him get sentenced … CHINX WILL FOREVER LIVE ON THRU IS ALL!! Thank you to all that has continued to support us thru this journey!” She further elaborated on her feelings on the result while speaking with FOX 5 NY’s Lisa Evers in an interview at the time. “It was pretty emotional. I literally cried the whole time sitting there, actually staring at him, because there’s so many different thoughts and words are running through your head, and you know you have to keep your composure.”

Chinx’s career was taking off prior to his death. He had signed with French Montana’s record label. His posthumous debut studio album, Welcome to JFK, released shortly after his death. Be on the lookout for further updates on Chinx on HotNewHipHop.

Sauce Walka Calls Out Drake For Not Supporting The Houston Rap Scene

Dating back to 2015, Houston rapper Sauce Walka has had some issues with Drake. It mostly stems from The Boy’s Houston Appreciation Weekend and the lack of support for Houston-bred artists. The “Texas Cyclone” MC put him on blast, saying, “A n**** using our culture for lyrical content, and ain’t giving s*** back but a family fun day and some money to some h*es he tricking on in the club. This b****-a** n**** make music with artists from everywhere but Houston”. This set him off so much that he would go on to release a diss called “Wack 2 Wack”, rapping over Drake’s “Back To Back” beat.

Things between these two would continue to be tense up until just a few months ago. Sauce and Drake were spotted at a Houston strip club called Area 29 chopping it up, seemingly putting their differences behind them. However, things seem to be unraveling as evidenced by some “new” comments by Walka on The Breakfast Club. DJ Akademiks reshared a clip from their recent conversation and it sees him rehashing the same issues from the past.

Sauce Walka Wants To See Drake Work With Lesser-Known Houston MCs

A post shared by DJ Akademiks (@akademiks)

Essentially, Sauce doesn’t understand how Drake claims to be a proponent of Houston’s rap culture but has hardly any collaborations with artists from there. Walka might want to check the receipts though, because he has songs with Travis Scott, Bun B, Pimp C, Beyonce, and etc. However, he argues that he only works with artists who are on equal playing grounds and ones that will elevate his status. Sauce essentially wants to see Drizzy help the lesser-known talents and to give them more exposure. If he does this, Walka thinks bigger music festivals, like Rolling Roud, will come to the city as well. He could just be talking about what happened with Drake in the past and things are still good, but it’ll be interesting to see if something happens between them again.

What are your thoughts on Sauce Walka calling out Drake’s lack of support for the Houston rap scene? Do you think his criticisms are justified, why or why not? Is some of the hate that the Canadian rapper is receiving is getting out of hand? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Drake and Sauce Walka. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.
