Metro Boomin Uses “Life Is Good” Lyrics To Troll Drake On Instagram

Drake is in a tough spot. He spent the weekend getting bombed on by Kendrick Lamar via multiple diss tracks. He responded with “The Heart Part 6,” but the general consensus is that he’s losing the battle (if he hasn’t already). Metro Boomin is rubbing salt in the wound. He was the one who started the battle in the first place, when he asked Lamar to hop on “Like That.” Now, he’s taking a page out of the Drake playbook and trolling the Canadian rapper on social media. He’s even using the rapper’s own lyrics.

Metro and Future are riding high off the release of their joint albums WE DON’T LIKE YOU and WE STILL DON’T LIKE YOU. They are the current dynamic duo in hip-hop, and Metro commemorated this with pics of him and Pluto throughout the years. The caption on the Instagram post read: “Never turn my back on FBG, God forbid.” It doesn’t mean much out of context, but fans of the Drake and Future single “Life Is Good” know that Drizzy says this during his verse. “FBG” is a reference to Future’s label Freebandz.

Metro Boomin Used Drake’s Words Against Him

Metro is effectively dissing Drake on two different levels here. Firstly, he’s using these words to express his loyalty to Future and Freebandz. Secondly, he’s bringing this line back up to make fans realize that it’s no longer true from Drake’s perspective. Drake and the Freebandz crew are no longer cool, and based on the way things are going, they probably never will be again.

Metro Boomin has also been clowning Drake on the musical end of things. He released a beat called “BBL Drizzy” on Soundcloud, which, as one can guess, is a riff on Drake’s surgery rumors. Metro said that whoever makes the best song over it will get $10K and a free beat. This has led to the “BBL Drizzy” beat going viral, with rappers and musicians from all over the world taking a crack at rhyming over it. There have even been interpretive dances and guitar solos set to it.

Drake might have gotten Metro with “make some drums” line on “Push Ups,” but the producer may just get the last laugh.

Chuck D Thinks Drake And Kendrick Lamar Should Tour Together

Chuck D was one of the most controversial and combative rappers of all time during his prime. He had no problem taking it to anybody that criticized his message. That being said, the Public Enemy rapper is not one to promote division for division’s sake. He’s been watching the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle like the rest of the world, and while there are aspects he’s enjoyed, he’d prefer to see the two stars make up. Chuck D went as far as to suggest that they should reunite with J Cole and take the “Big Three” on tour.

Chuck D hopped on X (formerly Twitter) May 5 to set the record straight on the Drake vs. Lamar battle. He clarified that he was team Lamar, but felt that both men would be better serving the genre by banding together and presenting a unified front. He included J. Cole in his hopes. “These fantastic 3 rappers (I’m biased for KL) have songs that never will get this public attention,” he noted. “Hence this low hanging kid sh*t turns casuals heads.” Chuck D felt the best possible outcome for hip-hop fans would be a tour. “Get them all on a TOUR so we can pick seats,” he added.

Chuck D Thinks A Reconciliation Would Benefit Hip-Hop

The Public Enemy rapper also noted the difference between rap now and when he got into the game. He pointed out how he was considered “old” when he hit his 30s, yet Drake, Cole and Lamar are all pushing 40. “I didn’t make music for kids, but if they got it, it wouldn’t ROT them,” he explained. “When I turned 30, I was old in Rap. Same with 40, 50, 60. Now, with all going on in the world, 40 year olds asking me about 3 millionaire great rappers beefing.”

There have been lots of veteran rappers who have weighed in on the Drake vs. Lamar battle. Memphis Bleek voiced his support for Lamar, as did Rodney O from the duo Rodney O & Joe Cooley. Bun B didn’t pick a side, but he had a more positive take on the situation than Chuck did. He took to Instagram to say that as long as there isn’t violence involved, rap beef is entertaining for the fans. “Fans get more music done on a high level,” he asserted. “No one is physically hurt. Enjoy it! I know I am!”

Ice-T Dismisses Drake Vs Kendrick Lamar Battle As “Male Gossip”

Ice-T doesn’t have time rap battles. At least, the one currently going on between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. The rapper took to social media to give his two cents on the battle, given his own battle history, but he surprised many by expressing disinterest. Instead of picking a side, like so many other vets have, Ice-T dismissed the whole thing. He told his social media followers that he doesn’t have an interest in seeing two mainstream rappers engage in what he called “gossip.”

To be fair to T, he made it clear that he doesn’t care about any current rap battle. He’s got better things to do with his time, like appear on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. “I’m sorry if I’m not interested in current rap beef or random male gossip,” he tweeted. “I’m a hustler, I’m only focused on the bag.” This isn’t the first time Ice-T has been dismissive of a battle involving Drake. When the Canadian rapper was going at Meek Mill in 2015, Ice-T was extremely critical of his approach. He claimed that Drizzy’s “Back to Back” was a bad diss record because it was passive aggressive.

Ice-T Is Over The Concept Of Rap Beef

“That’s not a battle rap,” he said on Sway In the Morning. “A battle rap is like when Nas Ether’d Jay, you go in right at the first word you start dissing a ni**ga, you let a n**ga know right out the gate. It’s not out the side of your mouth, it’s not subliminal… That’s how women do it.” Conversely, Ice-T praised Kendrick Lamar during a 2013 Vibe interview. He called the rapper “dope” and claimed he was an old soul. “[He] came out of Dre’s camp,” T added. “And to get a pass from Dr. Dre you got to be dope.”

Ice-T’s perspective on rap battles have changed drastically over the years. He may not be interested in them anymore, but he was going back-and-forth with other rappers for decades. He dissed LL Cool J on his classic 1988 album Power. T also went after Soulja Boy back in 2008, claiming the “Crank That” star was “killing” the genre. Soulja responded by making run of Ice-T’s age in a YouTube video.

Ice-T has continued making music with his metal group Body Count, but he hasn’t drop a proper hip-hop release since Gangsta Rap in 2006. Like he said, he’s busy making that TV money.

Azealia Banks Shares Her Surprising Take On Drake And Kendrick Lamar’s Beef

Nobody has been embroiled in more beefs than Azealia Banks. The rapper has notably picked a number of high-profile fights and doesn’t shy away from criticizing almost anybody. Earlier this year she made Jay-Z and Beyonce her target in the wake of the announcement of COWBOY CARTER. Though the pair obviously never responded to her or acknowledged her criticisms, that didn’t stop her from continuing to make them when the album dropped and claiming it made her fall asleep.

Her beef experience could be seen as giving her a unique expertise in analyzing other people’s rivalries. So its no surprise she had comments to make about Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s recent back and forth. Surprisingly she seems to be prioritizing the catchiness and replayability of the songs more than the actual disses contained within them. She calls Drake’s song “Push-Ups” the crown jewel of all the disses and laments Kendrick’s lyrical first approach. She goes on to claim that Kendrick is “obsessed & pressed” and looking desperate in the beef. Check out everything she had to say about the beef on her Instagram story below.

Azealia Banks Is Taking Drake’s Side In The Beef

Azealia’s comments were made before Drake dropped his most recent track “The Heart Part 6.” On the song Drake reveals that he planted the story about having a secret second daughter and Kendrick bought it. That likely plays even more into Azealia’s theory that Kendrick is too obsessed with Drake dropping track after track after track.

The most recent target of Azealia’s wrath was Nicki Minaj. Banks slammed her new “FTCU” remix with Sexyy Red, Chris Brown, and Travis Scott. She claimed that Cardi B should have been on the remix version instead of Red. What do you think of Azealia Banks take on the Drave and Kendrick Lamar beef? Do you agree with her that Kendrick Lamar is taking things too seriously and should focus more on making catchier songs? Let us know in the comment section below.

Paul George Rejects Contract Offers From Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers were eliminated from the first round of the NBA playoffs by the Dallas Mavericks. The Clippers and the Mavs seemingly go up against each other in the playoffs every season. The Clippers were without Kawhi Leonard and were thoroughly outplayed by the Mavericks in the final two games. Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic both put on clinics and led the team over the Clippers. The Clippers have a roster of aging stars. They want to keep James Harden, Paul George, and Kawhi Leonard together, but that’s going to mean someone taking a pay cut. Reportedly, Paul George isn’t going to be the guy who rejected the Clippers’ initial contract offers.

This offseason, the Los Angeles Clippers hope to keep both Paul George and James Harden, but they have thus far attempted to do it at a reduced cost. Kawhi Leonard has already inked a three-year, $152.4 million discounted deal with the Clippers. Their ballooned salary is getting out of hand. If Pual Goegre and James Harden both take less than they command in the market, the Clips might be competitive next season. The keyword is “might.” Paul George doesn’t want anything less than the max.

Paul George Will Become Free Agent For Max Deal

Lawrence Frank, president of basketball operations for the Clippers, commented on the Clippers star’s future. He said Monday, “We’d like to be able to bring back and retain Paul and James.” He continued, “We’re hopeful we can, but also understand and respect the fact that they’re free agents. Paul has a decision with his option. James will be an unrestricted free agent, so our intent is to bring him back, but also realize that they’re elite players and they’ll have choices.” George has made it known that he wants his contract extended. If the Clippers had offered him a max deal, he probably would have signed it by now. It appears that they haven’t so far. It’s a strange move for an organization with not a lot of leverage.

Retaining Paul George is the most important objective for the Clippers. With Paul George, they have one of the best wings in the league. Without him, they go from being an old but competitive team to an old team that’s not competing. It’s vital they stay competitive also because their new arena is opening up in LA soon. Overall, the situation in LA is up in the air, and The Clippers have a lot to take care of this offseason.

Hit-Boy, The Alchemist, & Big Hit Recreate Iconic “Office Space” Scene To Promote Their Upcoming Album

Hit-Boy and The Alchemist are two of the most decorated and respected producers hip-hop has ever had. The longtime beatmakers have honed their craft and created instantly recognizable instrumentals for dozens of legends and rising stars. Luckily, we have been able to hear the two minds collaborate on one project. It happened with a mini three-track EP back in February of this year called THEODORE & ANDRE, which included a feature from Johnathan Hulett. But this offering got us wanting more and it seems we are going to get our wish soon. Hit-Boy recently uploaded an album trailer on his social media platforms just moments ago and it sounds like it will be one hell of a project.

Also, joining them on this endeavor is Hit-Boy’s father Big Hit. Him and his pops have been hard at work together ever since his caretaker served nine years of a 12 year-sentence. Big Hit was found guilty and convicted of a hit-and-run in Los Angeles, which led to some severe injuries in 2014. The father-son duo has gone on to release Paisley Dreams with The Game, as well as Big Hit’s debut album The Truth Is In My Eyes. Additionally, they had dropped SURF OR DROWN, Vol. 2 back in June of 2023.

Hit-Boy Album Trailer Makes Hilarious Callback

Now, their fourth effort, which is called Black & Whites is coming soon, but we are still awaiting a release date. For now, we have this funny trailer, which makes a direct reference to the 1999 classic comedy film, Office Space. The trio recreates the iconic printer smashing scene where the office employees obliterate the machine. Instead, they kick, punch and wield a bat on keyboards while a song from the album plays. It sounds like the tone of the project will be dark, at least based on the teaser and we cannot wait.

What are your thoughts on this album trailer from Hit-Boy, Big Hit, and The Alchemist? Do you think they did a great job recreating the iconic scene from Office Space? Could this be an album of the year contender? Who is the better producer of the two? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Hit-Boy, Big Hit, and The Alchemist. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.
