Mase and Cam’ron are no strangers to discussing fellow celebrities on their podcast It Is What It Is. That often includes sports coverage as they’re both big sports fans, though sometimes it can get them into hot water. Earlier this year they found themselves receiving some backlash over a segment they did about concerning allegations made against Dwight Howard. In the clip, they seem to primarily take issue with Howard’s sexuality more so than the actual concerning accusations he’s facing.
They’ve also been known to talk about Paul George in particular quite a bit in the past. The two hosts recently appeared on the Stephen A. Smith Show where they talked about how that made an actual encounter with George a bit awkward. Cam explains that he brought up Paul George after Hornets rookie Brandon Miller called him the GOAT. “I went crazy and said I don’t know what this kid is smokin,’ I don’t know where he’s been but he’s out his damn mind sayin’ Paul George is the GOAT,” he explained. Cam explained that Ma$e eventually ran into Paul George in person. “Fast-forward three weeks later, Paul George sees Ma$e at Summer League and says, ‘Why I can’t be the GOAT? What’s goin’ on, Ma$e? When he picked up Ma$e said “Yo Cam, Paul George and them got me surrounded right now — why you say he can’t be the GOAT?”

Furthermore, Smith doesn’t give any examples of “new media” actively rooting for the failure of player-driven media ventures.

If you reach a certain level of fame and brandability, it’s more than likely that you or your team will push you towards starting a podcast. After all, sponsors will be easy to source, you have a much more familial relationship with potential guests. Athletes doing podcasts is something of a win-win for all involved.

Andrews briefly asked whether Miller’s connection to the case would have any impact on how teams scouted him. At the time, this led to wave of backlash online. Many people accused Andrews of during sink Miller’s career with unrelated lines of conversation.
“She’s getting crucified during the Draft because… Brandon Miller…bringing up somebody’s past. She had an obligation to ask those questions. She did her job. If she doesn’t do her job, she’s off the air,” Smith said in response to the question. Meanwhile, during his Podcast P appearance, Smith also discussed the beef he had with the Irving family about comments he made about Kyrie and his father.

One such topic had to do with none other than Demarcus Cousins. As you may already know, Cousins is currently playing basketball in Puerto Rico. Overall, he has struggled to get a job in the NBA. Despite being an amazing player just a few years ago, he is out of the league. In Smith’s eyes, this is a great injustice. In the clip below, you can see the ESPN analyst delivering some great words of encouragement to Cousins.
“I look at a guy like DeMarcus Cousins. I don’t like the way he’s being treated,” Stephen A. said. “He got game bro. You know, and I’m not gonna rest . You’ve got people looking at me and he’s not a fit I’m like shut the hell up, DeMarcus Cousins right now would be a Top 5 big man in basketball, period.” While calling him top five might be a bit too much, this is still a great sentiment. At the end of the day, you can’t say Cousins isn’t better than some of the people on NBA rosters right now.

Stephen A. Smith is someone who has always been known for his wild hot takes. Although sometimes he gets things wrong, he doesn’t mind admitting when he does so. However, he has certainly amassed a few enemies throughout his career. This is because his delivery can be pretty harsh. When he goes on an infamous rant and you are in his crosshairs, you better look out. Sure, it may not always be fair, but he kind of does it from a place of love. Otherwise, why would he care to go on the offensive?
Recently, Stephen A. Smith was called out by Jackie Long of the Podcast P show with Paul George. This subsequently led to a hilarious response from Smith. Today, however, Smith went on Podcast P and they patched things up. They had a wonderful conversation about Smith’s career and whether or not he has any regrets. Surprisingly, he actually does. As you will see below, Smith believes it was a mistake to go off on Kwame Brown like he did all of those years ago.

Stephen A. spoke on Brown’s reactions to the clip and how Smith knows just how hurt he is by them. Moreover, Smith said that he had no clue the clip would live on in virality all of these years later. He did say, however, that he isn’t regretful of the content of his message. Overall, he still believes everything he said was true. It is just that the way in which he said those things was just a bit too much. If he could do it all over again, he would be a bit more diplomatic.

Paul George and Devin Booker have been beefing for a few years now. The origin of their beef appears to be a 2021 incident in which, during an on-court scuffle, Booker called George “soft.” The two players, who face each other multiple times a year in the Western Conference, have been at odds ever since. However, that beef boiled over in a recent episode of George’s Podcast P. George asked guest Klay Thompson about the “four rings” taunt he dropped on Booker during a game in 2022.
Thompson said he regretted the taunt. “I was not where I needed to be. Stuff doesn’t age well, and that didn’t age well for me. I don’t need to be flexing four rings, bro. Everybody knows that, that’s on Wikipedia. My game wasn’t where it was at, and we all get insecure at times. I’m man enough to admit we all have our moments of weakness. I’m not really proud of that one.” Later, on Instagram, Booker made two comments, tagging Thompson alongside a salute emoji and tagging George alongside the comment “Is that the answer u was lookin for?”
It didn’t take George long to issue a response of his own. While steaming on Twitch, the Clippers veteran addressed Booker’s Instagram comments. “My thoughts on Booker’s comments?” Paul began. “I mean, he didn’t really say nothing other that what none of us wanted to hear. I don’t really care – it’s Klay’s answer, y’know what I mean? That’s Klay’s answer. I asked a question, Klay gave his response. That’s Klay’s answer. I don’t know what that was supposed to mean. Sorry ass response, bro. I don’t know what that was supposed to mean.”
It’s clear that George wasn’t impressed by Booker’s reply. Furthermore, it appears that George is at best confused as to why Booker felt the need to insert himself into the conversation where there was no real beef to be had. At the time of writing, Booker has not responded to George’s clapback. Schedules for the 2023-24 season aren’t out yet, meaning we don’t know how early George and Booker will meet on the court. However, there is the potential for some confrontation if they are going to trade blows throughout this offseason.
Klay Thompson has been an essential part of the Golden State Warriors dynasty. Although he missed two years with injuries, his presence was felt as soon as he returned. The team won the NBA title in 2022, which gave Thompson and company his fourth title. Overall, it was a massive accomplishment that cemented this team as one of the great dynasties of our time. That said, there is still one blip on the Warriors’ resume. Of course, we are talking about the 2016 NBA Finals, where the team gave up a 3-1 series lead and lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Recently, Thompson was a guest on Podcast P with Paul George. During this interview, George asked Klay about what happened in 2016. As you can imagine, Thompson and his teammates are still fairly heartbroken about what happened. However, he noted that it was simply an anomaly and it led to better things for the team. In his eyes, without the incident in 2016, the Warriors would never have gotten Kevin Durant.
“Honestly I thought we were good even going back to Oakland [for Game 7]. I remember being like, we don’t lose at home. The last time we did it took Kyrie and LeBron going for 40 a piece, the first time in Finals history. So I’m like alright anomalies happen…,” Thompson said. […] “Why are you making me do this Paul? This hurts man f**k. But I don’t know if we don’t win we might not get Kevin [Durant] so like it all worked out but that one hurt. I’m not going to admit when it was slipping away, there’s too much pride to do that. It still hurts. You’re welcome city of Cleveland.”
