Gunna Given “GOAT” Status After Dropping New Song “Bittersweet”

Gunna is an artist that many had written off just a couple of years ago. Overall, his involvement in the YSL Rico trial had fans scared about his future. However, when he got out of jail and Young Thug didn’t, there was a narrative that he had snitched. This subsequently led to people saying that they would no longer listen to his music, out of protest. Eventually, Gunna came back with a gift & a curse and that nonsense stopped immediately. He dropped a great project and it received a whole lot of love online.

Since then, fans have been waiting for Gunna to drop off his next full-length album. Firstly, you would think the artist would come through with a single. This would allow him to get people excited for any future album plans. Well, on Friday, he came through with a track called “Bittersweet.” This song was previewed in a recent freestyle posted to his Instagram page. With this new release, we get the vocals alongside a full instrumental, and it sounds like Gunna at his most focused and hungry.

Gunna Does It Again

Following the song’s release, many took to social media to sing its praises. After all, Gunna continues to be a fan favorite these days. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that people would be so eager to give the new track its flowers. From the production to the flows to the lyrics, it seems like people are really loving the track. Some are even going out of their way to call Gunna the GOAT. Sure, it might be hyperbole, but it just goes to show how successful his comeback has been.

Lil Wayne Snaps On New Yeat Track “Lyfestyle”

Yeat has been teasing a new project for some time and now it is finally here. 2093 has 22 tracks with features from Future and Lil Wayne. This follows up his 2023 record AfterLyfe. After checking out the record, we had to talk about the Yeat and Lil Wayne collaboration, “Lyfestyle.”

This is one of the more unexpected collaborations as of late as both of their respective sounds are so different. Yeat operates in a more modern, futuristic soundscape. Weezy on the other hand like to rap over more traditional instrumentals. But, this duo pleasantly goes over much better than it does on paper.

Listen To “Lyfestyle” By Yeat & Lil Wayne

The instrumental is heavy on the drums and is fairly minimal. There is not really any booming bass, so it allows you to really focus on the lyrical content. It is also very dark and atmospheric, something we have come to expect. Yeat is not one to pen double entendres, but he does a good job on the refrain. However, Wayne simply steals the show. His rapid-fire flows are nothing new but he rips the beat to shreds with some terrific rhymes.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “Lyfestyle,” by Yeat and Lil Wayne? Should these two collaborate more often after hearing this? Is this the best song from 2093 why or why not? Where does this rank amongst Wayne’s features over the past couple of years? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Gunna Looks At The Pros & Cons Of Life On “Bittersweet”

To say that Gunna has gone through a lot in the past year and a half would be an understatement. The YSL rap member has been dragged through the mud by some for taking the plea deal in the ongoing RICO case. It became the main focus and theme of his 2023 record a Gift & a Curse. Since then, he has gone on to release his banger with producer Turbo called “Bachelor.” But that was in late 2023. Gunna did promise new music and he has delivered just that with “Bittersweet.”

This new single accomplishes the goal he set out for himself which was “substance.” That was a vague answer he gave to the TMZ crew while in Beverly Hills in early January. Gunna also talked about his next album having a heavy focus on the Afrobeat genre. “Bittersweet” does not accomplish the latter, but it does deliver on the “substance” side of things.

“Bittersweet” is produced by one of the many talents within the Working on Dying collective. Gunna makes references to the issues he has faced with the RICO ordeal, Lil Baby, and working on himself. He raps about the YSL gang saying, “Thinkin’ ’bout the crew again, could we reunite ’em? / S*** done been slow motion, but the peace steady climbing.” The minimal guitar-backed instrumental is a nice backdrop for Gunna’s heartfelt lyrics. This truly is one of his best songs and it sounds like it would fit right at home on this project he has brewing.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Bittersweet,” by Gunna? Is this her best song over the last year or so? Do you think this is part of an album rollout or just a loosie? Where does this rank amongst the rest of his deeper cuts? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Kaash Paige Drops Cold But Stunning Single “Waterfalls”

Def Jam signee, R&B singer, and terrific feature artist are just some of the ways to describe Kaash Paige. The 23-year-old from Dallas, Texas has taken up a lot of the recent soundscapes that have become popular over the last few years. Those ones we are referring to come from rappers like Travis Scott and Don Toliver. You will hear all of those familiar sonics on Kaash Paige’s latest single “Waterfalls.”

This single follows up her previous one from late January called “TEMPTATIONS.” According to Paige’s Instagram “Waterfalls” was a Valentine’s Day drop. However, with her last record dropping all the way back in 2022, a rollout for a new one could be in store. As we mentioned “Waterfalls” takes a lot of cues from Scott and Don’s music. Which makes sense considering their collaboration “Euphoria.”

Listen To “Waterfalls” By Kaash Paige

It feels very large in scope with its transcendent synths that sound like something right out of a MIKE DEAN’s track. However, he is nowhere to be found on this one. Credit goes to Christopher Billik and Sir Tim. Kaash pens a song about missing another love interest, questioning her own desirability, and trying get out of the rut she is in. The sound of the record is what takes this one to whole other level.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Waterfalls,” by Kaash Paige? Is this her best single over the last year or so? Do you think this is part of an album rollout or just a single? Does she deserve more praise for being one of the best R&B singers in the current field? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. ScHoolboy Q Spazzes On Third “BLUE LIPS” Single “Yeern 101”

ScHoolboy Q has been on absolute fire over the past month or so. The veteran California MC from Top Dawg Entertainment is about two and a half weeks away from returning with his sixth LP. BLUE LIPS is due on March 1 and based on what we have seen and heard; this is shaping up to be Q’s best record to date. One of the reasons why is because of the two pack he put out on February 6. “Back n Love” and “Blueslides” were both excellent tracks that offered contrasting pace and soundscapes.

If you follow ScHoolboy on Instagram, he shared a short teaser a couple of days ago. He captioned the post, “Yeern 101 tHursday…… I’m dope at stuff.” The video contained some snippets of recording sessions and music video sets. However, it did not prepare us for “Yeern 101” itself.

We are so happy it did not, because going in knowing nothing about the track only made it sound better. “Yeern 101” features Q rapping his behind off like the rent was due. Cardo handles the production and brings a rumbling beat that has a big presence to it that is not too overwhelming on the ears. What is also a plus about this track is that it is available on DSPs. The same cannot be said about the previous two songs. Q just continues to impress and “Yeern 101” has just elevated our expectations even higher.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Yeern 101” by ScHoolboy Q? Is this the best single from BLUE LIPS? Will this be Q’s best album ever, why or why not? Is this the most exciting upcoming TDE release this year? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. MIKE & Tony Seltzer Provide Their Take On Early 2000’s “R&B”

MIKE is someone we always love discussing here on HNHH. The New York rapper and singer just knows how to do things differently, without turning people away. At just the ripe age of 25, MIKE has delivered some fantastic projects since he got his start in 2017. 2023 was arguably his strongest year yet. The underground scene was more dominant over the mainstream in terms of quality releases. MIKE was a key part in two of the best albums from that year. Himself, The Alchemist, and Wiki, all came together for Faith Is A Rock.

Then, just about a month later he returned for his solo effort Burning Desire. That had features from Larry June, Earl Sweatshirt, and more. Since that point though, MIKE has remained dormant. That has recently just changed as he has just dropped his first piece of music in 2024. “R&B” is a collaborative single with producer Tony Seltzer.

Seltzer was worked with a host of rappers such as Ski Mask the Slump God, Rich The Kid, Jay Critch, and more. MIKE is very familiar with him, as they have been in the studio as well. According to Stereogum, they first collaborated their talents on MIKE’s debut record May God Bless Your Hustle. “R&B” has a soulful feel with the music video being a quite funny callback to early 2000s visuals. The fading to black briefly in between shots, as well as the grainy quality all add up.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “R&B,” by MIKE and Tony Seltzer? Should he and Tony drop a collaboration album this year, why or why not? Does this sound work for MIKE and should he do a full project with it? Is this one of his best songs in the past year, why or why not? BbyMutha Continues To Express Herself & Impress Others On New Single “Go!”, Announces Album & Tour

Over the past few years, it seems that female rappers are getting more and more eccentric. Some of those newest players include people like Sexyy Red and GloRilla just to name a handful. However, one female MC who has been doing this for longer than they have is BbyMutha. She hails from Chattanooga, Tennessee and always has a lot to say. Her production choices are also interesting and quite pleasing to the ears as well. Today, the 34-year-old is back with a new single to promote something big. BbyMutha’s “go!” is the second single from her forthcoming record, sleep paralysis. Stereogum and a host of other publications are really excited about what she has in store and so are we.

This soon-to-be eighth project in BbyMutha’s discography will follow up her 2023 LP, Muthaleficent 3. The first of the two tracks, “gun kontrol,” got the rollout for sleep paralysis going back in October 2023. However, if all of this information was not exciting enough for you, there is more! On top of the single and LP announcement, Bbymutha is hitting the road on April 17 to kick of her North American tour.

Cam’ron Gets To The “It Is What It Is” Set Early To Spit Fire “Two-For-One” Freestyle

Cam’ron is one of the very special talents we have going in rap music. Even though he has been releasing music since the late 1990s, Killa Cam still manages to drop heat. The Harlem, New York native is still active as well, even with his very popular sports talk show that shoots it straight, It Is What It Is. In 2023, Cam’ron hit us with The Lost Files: Vol. 1 and U Wasn’t There in 2022. Additionally, he put out four singles last year, and has a couple in 2024 as well. His most recent was for a KITH collaboration called “Last Stop.” The now 48-year-old Cam’ron is back with a new freestyle called “Two-For-One.”

According to HipHopDX, the TV host posted the hot bars on the Instagram page for It Is What It Is. Cam’ron cleverly named the freestyle “Two-For-One” because he gave fans two off-the-dome performances on separate occasions. Additionally, both were done at the recording studio about 10 minutes apart. The first of them was laid down right before the program began with his hairdresser getting Cam ready.

The Dipset rapper spazzed on more a trap flavored instrumental. Then, for freestyle number two, he switches things up to the familiar “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems” sample. It is more of fun and easy-going listen compared to the serious, braggadocious tone of the first. You can check out the full clip with the IG link above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new freestyle, “Two-For-One,” by Cam’ron? Is he the best freestyler ever, why or why not? Does he need to drop this on DSPs? RiTchie Of Injury Reserve Drops His Solo Debut Single “RiTchie Valens”

Since the unfortunate 2020 passing of Injury Reserve member Jordan “Stepa J” Grogg, Nathaniel Ritchie and Parker Corey have been working things out. According to Fader, the Arizona duo have been fine tuning their new approach to Injury Reserve. In an interview with the publication, Ritchie and Corey described it as a “gentle handoff.” They are now referred to as By Storm. All of that went down in August and since that time Ritchie has also decided to go through a bit of a renaissance himself. He switched up the stylization of his name to simply RiTchie.

The experimental rapper has also decided to begin a solo career in the process. How RiTchie is going about this is by dropping his debut single. It is named after one of the most famous artists of all time, Ritchie Valens. If you do not know who he is, Valens operated in the Chicano rock movement and tragically passed back on February 3, 1959. He is mostly known for his hit song “La Bamba.”

RiTchie first dropped a track on his streaming platforms back in July with Loraine James called “Deja Vu.” But this is his first solo release, and it is stylized as “RiTchie Valens.” He brings a zany energy to the track with his screeching but infectious “Riiiittchhieee” vocal lines. Hopefully, he more coming soon, because this one is a lot of fun.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “RiTchie Valens,” by RiTchie? Is he the best Injury Reserve member, why or why not? Does he have what it takes to forge a successful solo career? Bear1Boss & SoFaygo Hop On Their First Track Together With “Conscious”

Auto-tune is probably never going out of style in hip-hop and hopefully it never does. While it can be to the detriment of some rappers, Bear1Boss and SoFaygo use it expertly. The two auto-crooners who have roots in the ATL are bringing their first-ever collaboration to the world as of a couple of days ago. Bear1Boss and SoFaygo’s “conscious” is a futuristic and spacey trap banger with vocal work inspired by Yeat.

Bear1Boss’s “conscious” can be found on his most recent record SUPER BOSS! As we mentioned, Iit hit streaming platforms this past weekend. The project features rage rapper JELEEL! and D3rt as well. If you are not familiar with Bear1Boss, he is a prolific genre-bending talent. He navigates and successfully combines the worlds of pop, rap, and electronic to create his idiosyncratic style.
