Gunna Might’ve Sent A Message To Lil Baby On New Song “Bittersweet”

Lil Baby and Gunna were once at the top of the world of unofficial rap duos, and what goes up must sadly come down. Following the latter’s plea deal in the YSL RICO case, which many took as overt proof of snitching, the former distanced himself considerably. However, the College Park crooner came back, dropped a Gift & a Curse last year, and is forging his new career path largely on his own. On the other hand, his former Atlanta partner has sent not-so-subliminal shots at him and even called him out during live performances. While this has been pretty aggressively anti-Wunna, the DS4EVER artist might be taking the opposite approach.

Furthermore, fans took note of one of Gunna’s opening lines on his brand-new single, “Bittersweet.” “You my dawg, I don’t care if we fall out, I never could diss you,” he raps on the cut, which many fans online interpreted as a message towards Lil Baby. After all, one of his first-ever big hits was the song “My Dawg,” so there’s enough connective tissue and context here to paint Baby as the receptor. It’s been a pretty one-sided beef from the “California Breeze” lyricist against the “fukumean” hitmaker. Maybe this will prompt the reconciliation that so many fans begged for online, and continue to pray for.

Gunna’s “Bittersweet”: Listen

Meanwhile, as Lil Baby and Gunna continue this rift in the public eye, the origin of their falling out moves on. The YSL RICO case finally reached its more developed trial stages, and a whole lot changed in this proceeding’s course since the latter left. Young Thug and company are still locked in a battle to defend themselves, and the prosecution is not slowing down in their efforts to provide proper evidence. It’s worth noting that both clashing MCs voiced their support for Thugger and the crew various times over the past few years, regardless of what was happening at the time.

With all this in mind, what do you think about Gunna seemingly offering an olive branch to Lil Baby on “Bittersweet”? Will the positive reception to this track turn the tide on their relationship? Whatever the case may be, drop your thoughts down in the comments section below. Also, check back in with HNHH for more news and the latest updates on the Drip Harder team.

Gunna Given “GOAT” Status After Dropping New Song “Bittersweet”

Gunna is an artist that many had written off just a couple of years ago. Overall, his involvement in the YSL Rico trial had fans scared about his future. However, when he got out of jail and Young Thug didn’t, there was a narrative that he had snitched. This subsequently led to people saying that they would no longer listen to his music, out of protest. Eventually, Gunna came back with a gift & a curse and that nonsense stopped immediately. He dropped a great project and it received a whole lot of love online.

Since then, fans have been waiting for Gunna to drop off his next full-length album. Firstly, you would think the artist would come through with a single. This would allow him to get people excited for any future album plans. Well, on Friday, he came through with a track called “Bittersweet.” This song was previewed in a recent freestyle posted to his Instagram page. With this new release, we get the vocals alongside a full instrumental, and it sounds like Gunna at his most focused and hungry.

Gunna Looks At The Pros & Cons Of Life On “Bittersweet”

To say that Gunna has gone through a lot in the past year and a half would be an understatement. The YSL rap member has been dragged through the mud by some for taking the plea deal in the ongoing RICO case. It became the main focus and theme of his 2023 record a Gift & a Curse. Since then, he has gone on to release his banger with producer Turbo called “Bachelor.” But that was in late 2023. Gunna did promise new music and he has delivered just that with “Bittersweet.”

This new single accomplishes the goal he set out for himself which was “substance.” That was a vague answer he gave to the TMZ crew while in Beverly Hills in early January. Gunna also talked about his next album having a heavy focus on the Afrobeat genre. “Bittersweet” does not accomplish the latter, but it does deliver on the “substance” side of things.

Listen To “Bittersweet” By Gunna

“Bittersweet” is produced by one of the many talents within the Working on Dying collective. Gunna makes references to the issues he has faced with the RICO ordeal, Lil Baby, and working on himself. He raps about the YSL gang saying, “Thinkin’ ’bout the crew again, could we reunite ’em? / S*** done been slow motion, but the peace steady climbing.” The minimal guitar-backed instrumental is a nice backdrop for Gunna’s heartfelt lyrics. This truly is one of his best songs and it sounds like it would fit right at home on this project he has brewing.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Bittersweet,” by Gunna? Is this her best song over the last year or so? Do you think this is part of an album rollout or just a loosie? Where does this rank amongst the rest of his deeper cuts? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Gunna. Finally, stay with us for the most informative song posts throughout the week.

Quotable Lyrics:

S*** been rough, but I ain’t too tough to say I love and I miss you
You my dawg, I don’t care if we fall out, n****, I never could diss you
For the chains and the fame, only we seen the vision
‘Bout my name, let it bang, goin’ out with my pistol
Got me a taste of this fame, it was sweet, now it’s bitter
Maybach came with pillows, I can’t talk in no pillows (Uh)
