Jae Skeese & Big K.R.I.T. Get “Situated” On New Track With Sauce Walka

These days, Buffalo-born performer Jae Skeese is hard at work, as his upcoming album is on the horizon. The project, titled Ground Level, is currently slated for release on August 16. Marking a pivotal point in his career, the LP will include various high-profile features from the likes of Jay Worthy, Dave East, Project Pat, Smoke DZA, Statik Selektah, and many more. The rapper even teamed up with Big K.R.I.T. and Sauce Walka for a track on the new album, which they unveiled last week. “Situated” features mellow production and high-octane bars about making money, personal evolution, and more. It serves as a solid introduction to the upcoming project, putting Skeese’s lyrical dexterity and laid-back flow on full display.

Ground Level represents my progression from the basement to building upon the foundation I’ve laid over the past three years. This includes my Drumwork debut Abolished Uncertainties (2023) and my collaboration with Conway The Machine, Pain Provided Profit. I’m now exploring how much higher I can climb from this first floor,” Skeese says of the upcoming project.

“The Ground Level mindset is about overcoming challenges and reaching new heights while staying grounded,” he also adds. What do you think of Jae Skeese and Big K.R.I.T.’s new collab with Sauce Walka? Will you be adding “Situated” to your summer playlist or not? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Yungeen Ace Drops New “Ready To Die” Single & Music Video Following Foolio Hit Allegations

Yungeen Ace is on a roll, as his diss tracks towards his late rival Foolio paved the way for a lot of viral engagement these days. To keep this hot streak up, he just dropped a new single and music video, “Ready To Die,” whose title and subject matter obviously invokes the late shooting subliminally and indirectly… or as low-key as it could given the circumstances. Regardless, it’s a pretty by-the-numbers visual treatment for a trap banger, but we’re sure that hardcore fans will be pretty happy with the results. Considering all the drama and speculation around Ace’s name right now, we expect many more releases emerge in 2024.

The big story right now, which Yungeen Ace hasn’t responded to in any serious manner at press time, is a claim from an unidentified male on social media that Ace paid him to carry out the hit on Foolio. “On everything I love, on the dead homies, I put it on everything, on my soul, on my kid, n***a: I’m the one that smacked Julio Foolio that night when he got dropped at his birthday celebration,” the mystery man said. “I ain’t gonna show my face or give my identity away or nothing like that, but you know, I did that. There was money on his head.

“I rock with [Yungeen Ace] and them boys, ATK,” Foolio’s alleged murderer went on. “I be in Jacksonville heavy. If you know, you know. I handled that because Ace had that money on his head, Ace had them put that 10K up. Told me to slide, told me to smack Foolio because he got tired of that n***a running his mouth, playing all the time, you feel me? It is what it is, bruh. A n***a don’t give a f**k. About that money, anybody can get it. Foolio had it coming to him, so I don’t really feel sorry.

“A lot of people feel that it was on some gang s**t,” Yungeen Ace’s alleged affiliate concluded. “It ain’t even really all that. Ace put that bread up and whoever wanted to take it, took it, so I took that. Rest in peace, Foolio.”

Strick & Future Finally Release Their Collab “RECIPE FOR LOVE”

Strick might have an incredibly stacked album on the way if fan speculation is correct. The Lumberton, North Carolina rapper and singer of YSL affiliation already has Future, James Blake, Young Thug, and 6LACK potentially on tap. The first of those guests lands on the latest record from Strick called “RECIPE FOR LOVE”. This is a song that has been in the making for two years, according to the “KISSES MAKE SURE” artist. While getting out music can be a pain in the rear overall, Strick was more so thankful than anything else to finally have this track see the light. He took the time to thank Future and the “RECIPE FOR LOVE” producer for their efforts on Instagram.

“Thank you @future!! Means a lot bro! Song is incredible!! 2 years in the making! Shout out @skipnosteps on the beat! This is a major moment in my career!!”, Strick said. He then went to share an inspirational message for artists with a similar background. “I’m from Lumberton North Carolina, this for all the small-town kids who have even bigger dreams! Never give up!!”. How is the song as whole, though? Well, in typical Strick fashion, it is a slow, emotional, and sensual cut, something that is in Future’s wheelhouse. He was recently in that mode to some degree on WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU as well as HNDRXX prior to that. Time will tell on when Strick will come through with the album, as details are still murky. But this figures to be one of its hits.

Veeze & Rylo Rodriguez Collide For “F*cked A Fan”

Veeze is someone who took full advantage of a down year for rap in 2023. However, that is not to discredit his Ganger album. Overall, it was one that made a lot of end-of-year lists for hip-hop across the web, including ours. The Detroit MC’s sleepy and nonchalant flows are ones that usually get overlooked, generally speaking. An approach like that usually gets associated with mumble rappers who have little to offer lyrically. However, he proves that he is someone that you cannot judge too harshly on the surface. Veeze continues to evolve and “F*cked A Fan” is one sample of that growth process.

What the “GOMD” rapper is focusing on topically in 2024 is dealing with all of this newfound fame. His first release of this year, “Pop Yo S***”, seems him accept the place he is in right now. “F*cked A Fan”, which features Rylo Rodriguez, continues this more hype and “I’m the s***” energy. The beat, like most Veeze selections, is pure gas. Triumphant and glitchy tones, booming bass and 808s, and resonant kicks all unite for a grand trap and celebratory track for Veeze.

LL COOL J’s “Passion” Is What Fans Are Going To Get Plenty Of On “The FORCE”

LL COOL J is delivering more details on his upcoming 14th studio album, as well as a new single from it called “Passion” this weekend. The legendary New York rapper has been working toward a comeback and now we have the official return date. According to Pitchfork, The FORCE, which stands for “Frequencies of Real Creative Energy”, is coming September 6 and will feature some impressive guests. Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, and Nas lead the way, but Saweetie, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, and more round things out nicely. Also affiliated with this project is A Tribe Called Quests Q-Tip, who is handling all of the production.

LL COOL J feels he made the right choice recruiting him, and he is promising fans nothing but heat and incredible creativity. “We’re talking 14 tracks of straight fire, all crafted by myself and the one and only Q-Tip. When you listen to this album, you’re not just hearing music, you’re experiencing a whole new vibe, a whole new level of artistic passion”, COOL J affirms. So far, we are certainly hearing what is saying, as the lead-off track, “Saturday Night Special”, was a luxurious and grand way to kick off this rollout. “Passion” is equally spectacular, as Q-Tip brings a head-nodding boom-bap vibe perfect for the summer. COOL J’s performance is equally passionate, as he continues to sound revitalized.

Sleepy Hallow & Sheff G Drop Sexually-Charged Collab “Yes Freestyle”

Sleepy Hallow and Sheff G share a lot of things in common. Both are from the city of Brooklyn, New York, they navigate a similar drill sound palette, and each of them love getting active with women. That is the topical focus of this latest Sleepy Hallow and Sheff G collab, “Yes Freestyle”. This single has a thumping instrumental that is synonymous with this area of rap. The kicks are very potent, giving this beat some extra oomph. Additionally, Sleepy and Sheff’s flows are easy to follow and making for a catchy tune. However, a song like this from the “2055” rapper should not be a surprise to anyone at this point.

“Yes Freestyle” is just hit in the Sleepy Hallow catalog. His 2023 album, Boy Meets World, features several go-to tracks. Two of those include “A N X I E T Y” with TDE signee Doechii and “Die Young” featuring 347aidan. Both songs alone have over 300+ million streams. Additionally, one of Sleep’s most recent offerings, “Winners In Paris”, is also making some noise with over 13 million plays on Spotify. But straying away from his solo stuff, him and Sheff G are also quite the dynamic duo. “Weight On Me” is their most popular to date, but they have plenty of others out there. Maybe they should make a collab album?

SosMula Impersonates A Maniacal Villain On “SLEEZY BASTARD (SLASHER PT. 1)”

SosMula possesses maybe the most unique mic presence in the world of hip-hop. His raspy and high pitch cadence closely resembles that of a cartoon villain. That is not really a slight, as it perfectly matches the subgenre of rap that he has been thriving in for the last several years. His roots in the horrorcore/metal trap run deep, as most of his career has centered around the work he has with ZillaKami. This seemingly inseparable pairing unfortunately felt it was time to go solo after dropping their 2023 tape, My Bloody America. But things are still looking good for SosMula, as he now has another single out called “SLEEZY BASTARD (SLASHER PT. 1)”.

Interestingly, the Brazilian-American rapper put out the second entry in this two-track series first a few weeks ago. This looks to be the second single for SLEEZE RELIGION, his first solo album since 2 HIGH 2 DIE in 2022. While SosMula does do a great job of being entertaining and animated on “SLEEZY BASTARD”, we cannot help but notice the flows which are similar to 6ix9ine’s on “GUMMO”. Verse number two is definitely where we hear it the most but let us know what you think. As of now, there is no official release date for this project, but Genius predicts it will drop in July.

MC Lyte & Queen Latifah Craft An Ode To Black Men On New Single “King King”: Stream

MC Lyte and Queen Latifah are two of the greatest femcees of all time, building their indelible catalogs off of the strength of great albums like Eyes On This and All Hail The Queen, respectively. But they’ve still got it, as they just released a new single and music video titled “King King.” It’s a tender, joyful, and celebratory homage to the success and happiness of Black men, whether it’s through fulfilling partnerships, financial freedom, supporting their communities, and much more.

Overall, it’s a very compelling portrait as MC Lyte gives these kings their flowers in her verses and Queen Latifah stresses the importance of resilience for the chorus. In the visual, you can see footage of various famous Black men from Barack Obama to Kendrick Lamar and even Martin Luther King, Jr. as Lyte raps at a communal gathering out in the sun. Considering how much these femcees get their due flowers, they could certainly choose to focus on their own experiences. But to see this overt support and gratefulness is a heartening two-way street for hip-hop to champion.

Since MC Lyte and Queen Latifah are also in tune with what’s going on in the female rap world today, we hope they continue to contribute to it. If you haven’t heard “King King” yet, find it on your preferred streaming service or check out the music video on YouTube below. Also down there, you can find some notable lines from the song and the comments section for you to drop your thoughts on the new record. Blu Travels Through The “Wild Wild West” On Evidence-Produced New Single: Stream

Blu is easily one of the most legendary and prolific underground rappers over the past twenty years or so; did you really think he’d let up? Moreover, the Los Angeles MC recently dropped the Evidence-produced single “Wild Wild West,” which is only available via its YouTube music video at press time (though it might appear on streaming services soon, so check your preferred DSP). Just a couple of weeks ago, he dropped another Evidence collab titled “Lost Angel,” so hopefully this means we have a full team-up project on the way.

Furthermore, Blu unsurprisingly tackles the “Wild Wild West” of California crime, gangs, and street life in this new cut. The abc spitter goes over his past homes and neighborhoods around Los Angeles in particular, and comments on the normalcy of violence in these regions. The implication through the tender soul beat and its melancholy vibe is that he’s trying to escape these cycles and not let these circumstances hinder him, while also showing empathy and solidarity with those still in the struggle.

Meanwhile, with short projects like Roll Up under Blu’s belt and many more long-form releases like Royal Blu in 2024, we can’t wait to hear what’s next. If you haven’t heard “Wild Wild West” yet, check out the music video on YouTube below. Also, drop your thoughts on this song in the comments section down there, as well as some standout bars from the record. As always, stick around on HNHH for the latest killer hip-hop drops around the clock.

Jay Worthy & Dam-Funk Drop Summer-Ready Single “Rich Today”

Last month, Jay Worthy and Dum-Funk teamed up to announce their upcoming collaborative album, Magic Hour. The eagerly anticipated project is currently slated for release on July 12, and to give listeners a taste of what’s to come, they’ve unveiled yet another single. “Rich Today,” which dropped last week, features Leven Kali and Polyester the Saint and arrives alongside a dreamy accompanying music video.

The laid-back, groovy track truly feels like an homage to the West Coast, boasting relaxed bars about cruising around in the summertime with next to nothing on your mind besides getting “rich.” This isn’t the first taste of the new album they’ve given fans as of late, however. “Rich Today” is in the same vein as a song they recently released alongside A-Trak, Ty Dolla $ign, Channel Tres, and DJ Quik late last month. The collab, “105 West,” arrived alongside a star-studded accompanying music video and is also expected to appear on Magic Hour.

They gave another nod to LA on “Westside” earlier this year, which also featured DRAM. What do you think of Jay Worthy and Dam-Funk’s new track featuring Leven Kali and Polyester the Saint? Will you be adding “Rich Today” to your summer playlist or not? Are you looking forward to the duo’s upcoming album, Magic Hour? Who else do you want to hear them collaborate with in the future? Share your thoughts in the comments section, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates. Check out the new single down below.
