Calboy Teases New Album With “Chains Off (Freestyle)

Chicago rapper Calboy has had a rough couple of months due to legal issues with police. He has also called out plenty of his contemporaries, especially DaBaby. Furthermore, the artist was taken off a handful of rappers’ records, including Trippie Redd and Pop Smoke. Overall, he is not the most well-liked person in the industry, but he is looking for a fresh start. One way he is doing this is by forging his own path in the form of creating his own record label. He was recently a signee of RCA records. However, that is no more. Rumblings around this situation began around the first quarter of 2022 and it seems that Calboy has moved on.

Flaunt recently wrote a piece on Calboy and it centered around the release of his upcoming album. It will be called Unchained. However, there is no information on the release date. What we do know is that it will be 12 tracks and some of the themes and topics that will be covered. In the interview, Calboy says that it will focus on his public and private battles. Those will include artistic freedom, lingering grief, or industry feuds.

Just Blaze Surprises Fans With 2 Unreleased Slaughterhouse Songs

Just Blaze surprised fans by dropping two previously unreleased Slaughterhouse songs on Monday. Taking to Twitter, he announced that he finally found the never-released album, Glass House. It was still being worked on when Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, and Royce da 5’9″ disbanded the group.

“I just found the slaugherhouse album. Jesus this is great. I might do the lords work,” Just Blaze wrote in his post. Fans on social media were stoked by the news. One replied: “Please, Justin. For the good of humanity and dusty underground rap fans across the universe.” Another wrote: “If there’s ever a time to do something big for the culture again it’s 2023 we need a W lol and it would be interesting to see the response and ensuing chain of events.”

A previous update on the long-awaited project came in 2016, when Royce 5’9″ told HipHop-N-More that it was finished. “We don’t have a release date yet but we definitely have a full body of work done,” he said at the time. “We gonna go in after I finish what I’m rolling out right now and do some minor tweaks. We’re gonna try to put it out hopefully soon but we haven’t talked release dates yet.”

Budden also reflected on the demise of Slaughterhouse during an interview on Drink Champs, earlier this year. No longer caring about the years-old drama, he took the blame. “Gimme the blame. I’ll take the blame. Hey! I ruined everything. Everything that you loved, I ruined that sh*t.” Budden said. “I’ll take the blame. It’s just ten years long of just stories and talkin’—ay! I did it. That saw Gunna reflecting on the monotonous time he spent behind bars after his 2022 arrest. Since then, his approach to life seems to have totally changed, with health and wellness now being top priorities for the Southern artist. In addition to that, he’s been experimenting more musically as well, seemingly finding his bag in the Afrobeats genre. Aubrey O’Day called out Chrisean Rock and Lil Mabu on Twitter, following the release of their new collaboration, “MR. TAKE YA B*TCH.” O’Day remarked that she’s embarrassed for the new generation of artists. The release of the song comes amid rumors of a romance between Rock and Mabu.

“I’m so embarrassed for this new generation,” O’Day wrote in his post. “We did not walk so this trash music could run. We need the gate keepers back.. never thought I’d say it, but everything shouldn’t b allowed to enter the sacred space of real artists who practice their craft with discipline & respect.”

Tobe was asked to make a song for the documentary. “Lil Fish, Big Pond” was the result of that and he continued to make more soundtrack songs.

Just a few months before that in May, Tobe and one of the greatest ever to do it, Nas, got together for a blockbuster. The Transformers series got its latest installment, Rise of the Beasts and both brought some extra magic to the film. Kali Uchis Previews Spanish “Orquideas” Album With “Te Mata” Single: Stream

Any artists who plan on releasing new music before 2023 comes to a close have only a few New Music Fridays left to do so. Kali Uchis isn’t planning on giving us another album this year after dropping one ahead of her iconic Coachella performance in the spring, but the black-haired beauty did return with a new single today (October 20) to show us what’s in store for 2024. Uchis confirmed earlier this month that her Spanish album, Orquideas, is due out in early January. Both the previously released “Munekita” featuring el Alfa and JT and today’s “Te Mata” are on the tracklist, along with 12 other unnamed titles.

In the new Josh Crocker and Manuel Lara-produced single, Uchis lyricizes about life after a painful heartbreak. After some struggle, she manages to alchemize her pain into happiness – at the expense of her ex. “Well that’s already over, that’s not me anymore / I’m finally happy, my days are no longer gray / I finally realized that I deserve much more / and that kills you,” her lyrics, translated from Spanish by Uproxx, express.

The upcoming LP will be the fourth studio release from Uchis, who made her debut in 2015 with Por Vida.
