Baby Tate Responds To Fans Claiming Similarities To Nicki Minaj’s Rap Style

Baby Tate recently found herself at the center of a controversy following the release of her “From The Block” freestyle on February 8. Fans and critics alike speculated that her animated delivery and distinctive look had similarities to Nicki Minaj, prompting Tate to respond to the accusations. Despite receiving praise for her creative bars, some fans raised concerns about potential similarities between Tate’s style and that of the iconic Nicki Minaj. One fan expressed, “Looks like you’re biting Nicki Minaj’s style too much,” advising Tate to develop her own identity to avoid constant comparisons.

In response to the criticism, Tate took to social media to set the record straight. She adamantly defended her animated delivery, stating, “Nicki Minaj is not the first or LAST person to blink their f*cking eyes, tilt their head, or be in a general sense ANIMATED in rap or any other genre.” Tate, who identifies as a “Theater Girl,” emphasized her commitment to expressing herself with animation, silliness, and goofiness, independent of any comparisons. Firmly asserting her individuality, Tate declared, “I am and will forever be animated, silly, goofy, have fun and fully express that the way I so CHOOSE. If you in your limited mind can only see someone else when I do that, it’s not on me. I’m Baby Tate. PERIOD.”

Baby Tate Responds To The Critics

Facing further critique that suggested she should pay homage to Nicki Minaj, Tate reminded her audience that she had already done so when she first entered the scene. Responding to the critics on Twitter, she stated, “It’s 2024, and I’m on my 9th year in the game, babe. YALL LATE as to who I am, and that is not my fault or responsibility to guide you through the education of Baby Tate. Do ur own research, leave me alone!”

However, the discourse took an unexpected turn when Tate returned to social media to apologize to her fans for engaging in the topic. Acknowledging that the focus should remain on the music, she expressed gratitude to her supporters, stating, “I wanna apologize to my fans for taking the focus off of what matters, which is the music. Y’all know I’m a human at the end of the day. But the bigger picture is so much more important than being right in a comment. I love y’all for always being by my side regardless.” Moreover, in taking this mature and reflective approach, Baby Tate demonstrated resilience in the face of criticism and a commitment to keeping the spotlight on her artistry. Ice Spice Respects The Opinions Of Music Critics

Ice Spice has been the biggest new star in all of music for 2023. She’s repeatedly been the subject of numerous interviews and features trying to break down the secret to her meteoric rise to fame. Earlier this month she talked about Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, and how many rappers act differently behind the scenes in a major cover story for Variety. During another recent interview with the LA Times, she sent fans into a frenzy when she mentioned that she was dating someone but wouldn’t say who.

Now, she’s part of another cover story this time for Complex. She talked about a number of things in the interview but one that stood out in particular is her take on music critics. Unlike most of her contemporaries who spend a lot of time dissing their critics, she has respect for them. “They actually study music and care about it. So I feel like I’d rather hear their opinion. I’m more interested in that because at least it’ll be paragraphs explaining why they feel that way and I’ll be able to understand the person better versus just one little hateful ass comment from a private page. At least there’s an author and a face attached,” Spice explained. Check out her entire interview below.

She explains that she wants to keep her lyrical content simple and digestible for maximum enjoyment.

Over the weekend Spice made her debut appearance on Saturday Night Live. She took the stage alongside host Pete Davidson for the first new show since the end of the writer’s strike. What do you think of Ice Spice’s take on music critics? Let us know in the comment section below.

“Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” Opens To Rave Reviews

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse was a sensational hit when it premiered in 2018. The Sony production veered away from the Disney/MCU style of Spider-Man and focused on Miles Morales. The studio weaved a poignant origin story for the character’s feature film debut alongside a truly gorgeous art style.

A sequel was quickly greenlit and has been eagerly anticipated by fans. Building on the foundations of Into The Spider-Verse, Across The Spider-Verse looks to expand the universe of the original film, once asking the question “What does it mean to be Spider-Man?” while also avoiding simply making the same film twice. Instead of Miles learning the ropes, his abilities and ideology will now be put to the test in myriad ways. The film also added a wealth of talent to an already stacked cast. Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, and Oscar Issac are just some of the A-listers joining the cast.

Reviews Love “Across The Spider-Verse”

Across The Spider-Verse premieres on June 2, but critics’ reviews have now been made public. In short – they love the film. Across the Spider-Verse has opened with a 97% critic’s rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Mike Ryan of Uproxx has called it “One of the most, if not the most, immersive superhero stories going, pushing far beyond the boundaries of what superhero stories should and could be.” Meanwhile, Clarisse Loughrey of The Independent summarized the film as “Out of every multiverse, this is the easiest to root for.”

The positive praise continued. Empire Magazine‘s Ben Travis noting that “Across The Spider-Verse cranks every dial to 11, and somehow doesn’t collapse in on itself. Visually astonishing, emotionally powerful, narratively propulsive — it’s another masterpiece.” However, not every critic was a fan. Tim Robey of The Telegraph argued that the film “gets drunk on itself – sometimes sad-drunk to the brink of a hangover, slurrily outstaying its welcome.” Despite some detractors, it’s clear that fans should prepare themselves for another powerfully emotional, visually stunning spectacle. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse releases in the United States on June 2. Follow all the latest film news here at HotNewHipHop.

Netflix Drama “Beef” Earns Rave Reviews

Beef, the latest limited series from Netflix, presents a deceptively simple premise. After a road rage incident, two individuals set out to ruin each other’s lives. Created by former It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia staff writer Lee Sung Jin, Beef stars Stephen Yeun (The Walking Dead, Nope) and Ali Wong (Always Be My Maybe, Tuca & Bertie).

However, Beef goes beyond its simple premise to become an intimate and petty look at the lengths people go to in order to feel alive. Yuen’s Danny is a handyman with no self-awareness of his patronizing view of the world. Meanwhile, Wong’s Amy is trapped in a suburban hell she pretends is her ultimate goal in life. A chance meeting in a hardware store parking lot becomes a road rage chase through the suburbs. That incident becomes the spark for the two to engage in an increasingly dramatic war of words and actions. But as much as the two of them despite each other, the havoc they can wreak on each other is the only thing giving their lives meaning.

“Beef” Is Certified Fresh And Widely Praised

Debuting on April 6, Beef quickly garnered the rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. At the time of writing, the show holds a 99% critics rating and a 96% audience rating. It continues a strong showing for Netflix in the TV department, with YA fantasy Shadow & Bone‘s second season currently holding an 83% rating. Furthermore, Beef‘s strong debut also allows Netflix to keep pace with the hits of its competitors such as Apple TV (Ted Lasso Season 3 – 93%), Paramount+ (Rabbit Hole – 77%), and HBO (Succession Season 4 – 97%).

Critics have praised Beef‘s encapsulation of modern rage, especially in “an era that sells us on the ease of being able to have anything we want, only countered by our frustration at being unable to.” (Gayle Sequeira, Film Companion). Additionally, the show never fails to embrace comedy at the right moments, with Joey Moser of Awards Daily noting that “Beef will stick out its tongue as it gives you the finger.” Overall, the show is a visceral, petty masterclass of societal critique and can’t-look-away revenge television.

Reginae Carter Claps Back At People Tearing Down Her Relationship

Reginae Carter recently aired out her frustrations with critics of her relationship and how openly loving the two are. While her and her partner Armon Warren always show affection, some people ridiculed how young and naïve they seem. As such, many pointed out how much they seemed to rush into their status and into their affection. For example, one user prodded Carter to think more realistically “He literally didn’t have a passport before he met you but was buying hallow jewelry, be fr reginae.”

Still, Lil Wayne’s daughter was having none of it. “It’s really super weird to me when people get mad at you for loving your significant other out loud…” she tweeted. “Like I’m sorry you’ve played the side for so many years you don’t know different … but me ? Imma post wtf I want . Never have to hide s**tttttt.” Even with critics still making their points, she had a lot of people supporting her in the comments. “They want you to keep that s**t a secret so bad,” a Twitter user wrote in response. “But they couldn’t wait to blast you when you were going through it…keep loving and being loved out loud.”

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old recently clapped back at haters who trolled her boyfriend Armon gifting her a promise ring. “Y’all old asses mad at my promise ring but been in 10 year relationships with a bunch of broken promises,” she exploded on Twitter. “Get you somebody to take care of your time not waste it aunties. But anyways .. back to my amazing morning … Happy Holidays!” While people thought it was a bit too much, Warren’s message was still pretty sweet.

“So this is my promise ring to you baby, okay?” he said in a video clip. “This is my loyalty, this is my love. This is everything, this is me investing my time, everything into you. I only want to be with you. This is my promise.” Regardless of what you think of their relationship, come back to HNHH for the latest on Reginae Carter.
