Ice-T Calls Lenny Kravitz’s Celibacy Streak “Weird,” Gets Pushback From Fans

Ice-T is someone who frequently speaks on the biggest topics of the day on social media. Overall, he has never shied away from a topic, even if it is a bit controversial. For instance, he will talk about politics, sex, and everything in between. Yesterday, the actor found himself in the midst of a debate surrounding legendary musician Lenny Kravitz. As we reported, Kravitz revealed in a recent interview that he has been celibate for the last nine years. He hasn’t found a relationship, and he is just taking things day by day.

This subsequently led to a strong response from Ice-T, who let his feelings be known on Twitter, now known as X. “Hey…If you’re a guy and you can voluntarily go 9yrs without sex… you’re following the wrong page,” the artist wrote. A few fans question Ice for his take, noting that Kravitz isn’t hurting anyone and that this was simply his choice. Ice-T then doubled down on his position, saying “shit’s weird to me. I love to fuck… A lot.”

Ice T Gives His Take

In the comments section over at The Neighborhood Talk, Ice T got a lot of flack from fans. “Imagine not understanding self-control and self-discipline,” one person wrote. “I’ve been celibate for almost 11 years. No unplanned pregnancies, No STD’s & no drama. life is good,” said another. Many of the comments were of a similar tone. At the end of the day, people can live how they want, and in the eyes of fans, celibacy shouldn’t be considered “weird.”

Let us know what you think of Ice T and his comments here, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that he was being too harsh on Lenny Kravitz? Also, what do you make of Kravitz’s recent admission? Is it really that big of a deal? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. The Best Vinyl Releases Of May 2024

vinyl feat
Uproxx

Anybody who thought the vinyl resurgence was just a fad was mistaken: The industry has experienced a legitimate revival. As a result, music fans are interested in physical media in ways they may not have if the decades-old medium hasn’t made a comeback. That doesn’t mean everybody is listening to just their parents’ old music, though. That’s part of it, sure, thanks to rereleases that present classic albums in new ways. A vital part of the renewed vinyl wave, though, is new projects being released as records, of which there are plenty.

Whatever you might be into, each month brings a new slew of vinyl releases that has something for everybody. Some stand out above the rest, naturally, so check out some of the best vinyl releases of May below.

Justice — Hyperdrama

Justice Hyperdrama vinyl
Ed Banger Records/Because Music

Justice had one of the month’s best new albums with Hyperdrama, which includes features from Miguel and Tame Impala. The 2-LP release (a double black 140g vinyl in a gatefold sleeve) bears on the front its striking cover art, an organic spin on their classic cross imagery.

DIIV — Frog In Boiling Water

DIIV Frog In Boiling Water vinyl
Fantasy

DIIV recently told Uproxx of their new album, “For a lot of people, that is part of what they fell in love with with the first two albums — this rich, dreamy atmosphere that is very feelings-forward. Rather than this song has an amazing bridge and an amazing chorus. A lot of times with the earlier songs, sometimes there wasn’t even a chorus, but it didn’t really matter because the song felt so good to listen to. I feel like the new album has an element of that which makes it feel more comprehensive in our catalog.”

The 180 gram red ECO pressing is limited to 500 copies and still available, but we can’t imagine that will be the case for long.

Black Sabbath — Black Sabbath (Reissue)

Rhino

Will we hear from Black Sabbath again? Maybe! Either way, we’ll always have their music, and now their self-titled debut album is on vinyl once again via Rhino’s High Fidelity series, which is limited to 5000 copies of 180-gram vinyl pressing.

Devo — Freedom Of Choice (Reissue)

Rhino

Also from the same Rhino series, which boasts Kevin Gray as personally overseeing the pressings, 1980’s Freedom Of Choice is an essential for any collection for two predominant reasons: It’s the album with “Whip It,” and it’s the album that saw Devo introduce their now-iconic energy dome hats. This reissue is a special edition of a special album: it’s a AAA cut from the original stereo master tapes, it comes with exclusive notes from album producer Robert Margouleff, and, like the Sabbath release, only 5,000 numbered copies are being pressed.

The highly anticipated A24 horror film I Saw The TV Glow came out this month, and it has quite the soundtrack, too, featuring Phoebe Bridgers, Caroline Polachek, Bartees Strange, and more. It’s also one of the best movies of the year, so be sure to check it out while it is still in theaters.

Vince Staples’ Wish Came True As Netflix Renews ‘The Vince Staples Show’ For A Second Season

After landing a recurring role in Abbott Elementary, Vince Staples kept his acting momentum going with Netflix’s The Vince Staples Show. The series was well-received, with a response that has now prompted Netflix to give the program a second season, it was officially confirmed yesterday (May 30).

Staples said in a statement (as Variety reports), “The ‘Vince Staples Show’ is back! The people have spoken and the most riveting, captivating, and polarizing show on Netflix is returning for season 2. Get ready for hijinks that only a mother can love. Thank you, Netflix!”

Netflix and Staples also teased/confirmed the news on social media with straightforward posts.

It would appear that Staples calling his fans to action has worked: In February, in response to a fan asking for more episodes, Staples tweeted, “Netflix didn’t buy anymore episodes so make sure you hit that double thumbs up. Peer pressure works and I’m tryna re up.”

In an Uproxx interview from that month, Staples said, “Hopefully, it performs well and we are able to keep it going. That’s kind of how we got situated over here with Netflix, and I think it came out good. I feel like no matter how it ends up, we gave a round story and gave it some closure, some context. So I think we’ll be good either way.”

Did Cardi B Diss BIA On GloRilla And Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Wanna Be’ Remix?

The much-anticipated Cardi B-featuring remix of “Wanna Be” is here, and on the track, she’s out for blood.

Did Cardi B Diss BIA On GloRilla And Megan Thee Stallion’s “Wanna Be” Remix?

Towards the end of Cardi’s song-opening verse, she raps, “Guess I’m a teacher since you wanna sub me / She did what? Had no idea / Thought she was on the shelf, Ikea / Hope she talk like that when I see her / B*tch, please, don’t nobody wanna be ya.”

The beef between Cardi and BIA seemingly started earlier this year, after Cardi released “Like What (Freestyle).” The song samples Missy Elliott’s 1999 single “She’s A B*tch,” as does BIA’s 2023 song “Fallback.” Some online pointed out the similarity and BIA subtly stoked the flames by acknowledging it. Shortly after, Cardi tweeted, “B*tches make a fool of themselves every single time [crying laughing emoji].. ima show ya something when I release this song tho.”

As for what Cardi’s saying on the “Wanna Be” remix, the line about being “on the shelf” is seemingly a dig at BIA’s relative lack of chart success despite having been active as a rapper for over a decade, with three singles hitting the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Also, when Cardi says “don’t nobody wanna be ya,” it would appear that “be ya” is meant to be a reference to BIA.

Kendrick Lamar Creeps Up On Drake’s Spotify Dominance As Diss Tracks Continue To Dominate The Conversation

The Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef is still a very hot topic of conversation in the hip-hop world, even if it’s more from a retrospective. For example, a lot of folks are curious as to how the “numbers” battle ended up between both mainstream juggernauts, and while “Not Like Us” has gotten a lot of the love in this regard, both artists certainly impressed. Moreover, a new graphic surfaced showing how The Boy and K.Dot’s monthly listeners on Spotify changed throughout this battle. As of May 27, 2024, Kendrick’s Spotify listeners rose from about 50 million to 77.11 million, whereas Drizzy’s been comfortably at around 83 million all year.

In addition, this information from HipHopNMore‘s Navjosh via Chartmetric also includes breakdowns of each streamable diss track in the Kendrick Lamar and Drake battle, not including IG-only or deleted releases like “Taylor Made Freestyle,” the “Buried Alive” reimagining, “6:16 In LA,” or J. Cole’s “7 Minute Drill.” The graphic compares the YouTube and Spotify streams for each song as of May 28, and if you want to count “First Person Shooter,” that still remains the most overall streamed song here. However, “Like That” is a few million behind, and “Not Like Us” already reached two-thirds of the For All The Dogs cut’s streams on Spotify and surpassed them on YouTube, so we’ll see how this all evolves.

Kendrick Lamar & Drake’s Diss Streams Compared

Perhaps the most interesting part about these numbers is that Drake and Kendrick Lamar were much closer in the song-for-song competition than fans on either side probably give their opponent credit for. For example, the double-drop of “Family Matters” and “Meet The Grahams” sees each song with pretty much the same number of streams, with Aubrey Graham slightly ahead. While he may have more Spotify listeners and definitely more streams overall than Kendrick, the Compton lyricist’s diss tracks are out-streaming his rival’s own. If you total all the YouTube and Spotify numbers for all these applicable diss tracks, Mr. Morale beats the 6ix God 883 million to 591.1 million.

Meanwhile, there are some rumors that this isn’t the end of the battle. However, we’d be more inclined to believe that there will only be subliminals from here on out unless someone fires yet again. With all the wildness of 2024 so far, who’s to say what happens? But one thing’s for sure: no matter the course of the next few months, Kendrick Lamar and Drake are making some big bags this year.

Sheff G & Sleepy Hallow Clap Back At Peter Rosenberg After Being Criticized For Trump Support

Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow are two New York artists who caught quite a bit of flack recently. Overall, this was due to the fact that they joined Donald Trump on stage for a special rally. During this rally, they revealed their support for the former President as he seeks election in 2024. Many fans felt like this support was a bit of a betrayal. Meanwhile, other fans praised the two artists for being politically active. Needless to say, it was a polarizing move.

Yesterday, we reported on how Peter Rosenberg of Hot 97 said that Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow should be removed from the Summer Jam lineup. Ebro and Laura Styles didn’t necessarily disagree, although it remains to be seen what will happen next. What we do know is that both artists have responded. In the Instagram post below, you can see that Sleepy Hallow took a more schoolyard approach, saying “this old n***a is dick eater.” Meanwhile, Sheff G offered up a longer retort.

Sheff G & Sleepy Hallow Offer Their Takes

In his post, Sheff G noted that Hot 97 has never shouted him out for his success. Instead, the only time they talk about him is when they want to be negative. Furthermore, Sheff G pondered why he needs to have the same political opinions as the Hot 97 hosts. As he notes, everyone is free to vote for who they want. While some may vehemently disagree with the way Sheff G is using his platform, it’s clear that he is standing on his previous actions. Whether or not this leads to a removal from the Summer Jam lineup, still remains to be seen.

Let us know what you think of this response from Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that these two are going to be taken off of the Summer Jam lineup? Do you agree with the way they handled the comments made by Rosenberg? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Cardi B Seemingly Disses BIA On “Wanna Be” Remix, BIA Responds With Mockery

Looks like there might be another beef on watch for 2024, as Cardi B seemingly took a shot at BIA on her remix of GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Wanna Be.” “Guess I’m a teacher since you wanna sub me / She did what? Had no idea / Thought she was on the shelf, IKEA / Hope she talk like that when I see her / B***h please, don’t nobody wanna be ya,” she rappped on the cut. The Bronx MC had previously warned her that she wanted to “show her something” after they traded some subliminal shots online or on wax. The Medford, Massachusetts rapper chose to respond first via Twitter, quoting some of Bardi’s on-and-off-again boo’s Offset’s bars.

“ION SEE THE CAP I GO RAY CHARLES BLIND,” BIA supposedly responded to Cardi B in a seemingly since-deleted tweet, quoting the former Migo and Gunna’s “Prada Dem.” She also roped in an iffy quote from the couple’s song “Clout” which also seeks to discredit Cardi and dismiss her shots. “B***HS IS WACK,” the 32-year-old expressed. “B***HS IS TRASH. I SHOULD HANG B***HS RIGHT OVER MY KNEE, THE WAY I BE PUTTIN MY BELT TO THEY A**.” Looks like a main point of contention between them or their fanbases is Bardi allegedly stealing her style.

Cardi B Disses BIA

Then, when a fan asked BIA to save this negative energy against Cardi B for the booth, she was quick to flaunt her skills and seemingly issue a challenge. “B***h you don’t want me in the booth I’m REALLY like that,” she wrote. In addition, the “I’M THAT B***H” spitter shared a video of battle rapper Yoshi G dissing Cardi, even though it doesn’t really look like the bar landed in that instance. Either way, it seems like there’s a lot of potential sore spots and avenues for this to go through, and we wonder what else could happen for rap beef in 2024. We’d rather things stay civil and friendly, but if there’s a battle, there’s a battle.

BIA’s Responses

I didn’t switch up on anybody because I don’t know Cardi in real life,” BIA said of Cardi B last year when rumors spread that a collab caused issues. “I’ve never met Cardi, we’ve never had a conversation. Like, I don’t have no issues with her, it’s all love, but I don’t know her.”

SZA Poses In Jaw-Dropping Nude Alien Costume And Leaves Fans In Awe

SZA is one of the biggest artists in the world right now. Overall, this is due to the fact that she is always good for a few hits. On her album SOS, SZA showcased that CTRL was not a fluke. The album won her numerous Grammys and it delivered some of the best r&b tracks of the decade so far. Furthermore, it led to a massive world tour that helped the singer become even more of a household name. At this point, SZA is unstoppable, and we can’t wait to hear what she comes out with next.

As it stands, the artist is reportedly working on Lana which is some sort of deluxe version of SOS. However, at this point, it might as well be a whole new album. Meanwhile, she has also been fairly active on social media, Instagram in particular. On her IG page, she typically posts some photo dumps of either herself or whatever it is she might be up to. What Does Eminem Say About Megan Thee Stallion On His New Song ‘Houdini?’

The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) is on the way, and if Eminem’s forthcoming album truly does mark the end of Slim, he’s not going out quietly. Today (May 31), Eminem dropped the new single “Houdini,” and on it, he doesn’t obscure the fact that in one bar, he’s talking about Megan Thee Stallion.

What Does Eminem Say About Megan Thee Stallion On “Houdini”

At the end of the song’s first verse, Eminem raps, “If I was to ask for Megan Thee / Stallion if she would collab with me / Would I really have a shot at a feat?” The line is of course a reference to Tory Lanez shooting Meg.

Notably, “Houdini” arrives months after Megan’s “Hiss,” which includes what could be interpreted as an indirect reference to Em. On the song, Meg raps, “I feel like Mariah Carey, got these n****s so obsessed.” The lyric refers to Carey’s 2009 song “Obsessed,” on which Carey sings about, well, somebody being obsessed about her. That song was released shortly after Eminem’s Carey-referencing track “Bagpipes From Baghdad.”

Megan, meanwhile, has her own album coming out soon, and she said of it, “We don’t just stop at the snake. This is just what everybody sees right now. Renewal, rebirth: that is the whole concept of this [album]. We started with the snake because, first of all, I love snakes, but I feel like snakes are so misunderstood, especially in western culture. Snakes represent rebirth, spirituality. I’m not really a person that’s like, ‘Oh my God, sunshine,’ and just super bubbly, happy. I like darker things. I like things that are a little scary. I like things that are unique. I picked the snake because… it’s kind of like an antihero.”

Eminem Catches Serious Flack For His Megan Thee Stallion Bar On “Houdini”

Eminem is someone whose lyrics have always been seen as controversial. Overall, he has had some dark thoughts that have made their way to his records. Furthermore, he has had no issues saying some inappropriate things about women in his songs. Ultimately, these lyrical choices have shaped Eminem into an artist who is inherently polarizing. This is especially true as fans have felt his last few releases have been either mediocre or straight-up bad.

On Friday, Eminem returned to the rap game with a new song called “Houdini.” From the production to the flows to the melodic passages, the song is a return to his old sound. However, fans are currently fixated on one line in particular that was interpreted as a diss towards Megan Thee Stallion. “If i was to ask for Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me would I really have a shot at a feat?” Of course, this is supposed to be a reference to the fact that Meg was shot in the foot by Tory Lanez.

Eminem Mentions Meg

The song eventually started going viral on social media, and the Meg lyrics were a massive point of contention. In the tweets below, you can see just how upset people were with these bars. They felt they were incredibly disrespectful especially when you consider what Meg has been through. Furthermore, Meg’s situation has been turned into some eye-roll-inducing lyrics for numerous male artists, and it seems like fans are sick and tired of it. Whether or not Meg responds to Em, remains to be seen.

Social Media Reacts

Let us know what you thought of the Megan Thee Stallion bar from Eminem, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that it was a big deal or is the internet doing too much here? Why do you think so many male artists keep mentioning Meg in their songs? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world.
