It goes without saying that it’s been a major year for JT, as the City Girl has found tremendous success with her several solo singles. She proved that she’s here to stay with her latest release, “Okay,” and has even more on the way. Her upcoming solo mixtape City Cinderella is slated to drop sometime this year, though an official release date has not yet been confirmed.
Fans are certainly looking forward to hearing what else JT has up her sleeve musically, but it looks like new songs aren’t the only thing they can expect from the Miami-born performer. During a recent appearance on All Things Keyshia Ka’oir, she expressed serious interest in taking on some new business opportunities. Specifically, she wants to get into makeup and boob tape.
“I want to do boob tape, and of course makeup, but first before I start makeup I kind of want to be more educated so I’m in [talks] for a brand deal right now,” she explained. “Hopefully I get it, fingers crossed, it’s a big brand. But once I do the brand deal I want to learn more about it and then get into the business, cuz I think people start businesses without knowing anything… No.” Ka’Oir was more than supportive, even offering to give JT some tips as the CEO of her own cosmetics company. “I can help you,” Ka’Oir interjected. “Because I want you to have a deal.”
Of course, fans are now flooding the femcee with demands for certain products, with most agreeing that they’d love to see lipsticks, glosses, and liners. Tems has been one of the true breakout stars of the 2020s. The singer went from relative obscurity to headlining radio hits alongside rappers like Drake and Future. She even got the lead singer on a Black Panther soundtrack. The anticipation for her album has been at a fever pitch since it was announced back in 2022, and we finally have a tracklist. The Nigerian singer previously released the album cover, but the tracklist gives us a better feel for what she has in store, musically speaking.
Tems’ body of work so far has been concise and largely EP driven. Born In the Wild is a chance for her to display her artistry over a lengthy period, and she’s taking advantage of it. The album has 18 songs on it, and the features are minimal. It’s obvious the singer has the chops and the confidence to carry the lion’s share of the album on her own. Asake, another Nigerian artist, is featured on the song “Get It Right,” and J Cole will appear on “Free Fall.” The latter is a fascinating choice, given that Tems has worked with the other two rappers in the so-called Big Three. She’s made two hit songs with Drake, and she had a Q&A with Kendrick Lamar in 2023.
Tems talked about the recording process of Born In the Wild during her Interview Magazine chat with Lamar. She told the rapper that she didn’t intend to make the album so personal in theme. She was just compelled to dig into her own life whenever she stepped in the booth. “Sometimes it freaks me out,” she explained. “Sometimes I freestyle to a point where I can’t feel my feet. I’ve entered somewhere and I don’t even know where I am anymore. I’m just pouring out my gut and then when I’m done, I don’t remember what I just did.”
Tems also claimed that she encountered several “lightning in a bottle” moments during the making of the album. Moments in which she gave herself over to her artistic muse, and operated on instinct. It’s hard to find, but it’s special when you find it. “It’s like tuning a radio and you find a channel, but the thing is, once you lose that channel, you can’t find it again,” she told Lamar. “You can find another channel, another freestyle, another thing, but not that. Unless you’re really, really tapped in.”
Daylyt has a unique perspective on the battle of the so-called “Big Three.” The rapper has ties to Drake, J Cole and Kendrick Lamar, and has given his opinions on the various diss tracks that have been released between them all. This makes him an authoritative voice in terms of what to expect, and whether there is more that fans should be expecting. Daylyt even appeared on the J Cole album in which the Dreamville rapper dissed Kendrick Lamar. In his estimation, though, the battle is officially over.
Daylyt hopped on X (formerly Twitter) to give his two cents on the battle. He not only weighed in, but he acknowledged that the discourse around the battle has gotten old. “This my last and final post about this beef,” he wrote. “So that y’all don’t keep coming to my page looking for ebony type tweets.” The rapper then revealed that he’s had individual conversations with each of the Big Three in recent weeks. “I spoke to Cole,” he added. “I spoke to Dot, I spoke to Drake. The beef is over.” Daylyt then shifted the focus to the good music that came out of the beef, and the good music that’s still to come. “We back to making good music,” he tweeted. “To all rap n**gas the game has ben set hof!”
Daylyt’s association with the Big Three has taken on different forms over the years. He scored his first Billboard charting song opposite J. Cole on “Pi,” which also featured TDE rapper Ab-Soul. He previously worked with Drake, though there’s controversy surrounding the work they did together. Some fans think Daylyt wrote “Back to Back” for Drizzy, and the former’s song “Uncharged Up” was meant to poke fun at the Drake diss “Charged Up.” Another Daylyt song, 2016’s “Cat’s Out the Bag,” supports the “Back to Back” theory in its lyrics. “All of em jewish guys,” he raps. “Help em write the back 2 back but what money did you provide. Drake Joe, who should i ride for.”
Daylyt isn’t the only person who’s claimed that the Big Three battle is over. On May 10, Kendrick Lamar’s former label head, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, tweeted a similar opinion. “This battle is over,” he wrote. “A win for the culture, while keeping it all on wax. Especially when publications try to make it something else. We proved them wrong. That’s a victory within itself.” Top Dawg’s sentiments were shared only a handful of days after Lamar released the one-two punch of “Meet the Grahams” and “Not Like Us.”
For almost 15 years now, fans of The Breakfast Club have been able to tune into the show and hear Charlamagne Tha God serving as host. It doesn’t seem like he’ll be done any time soon but that doesn’t mean he’s avoiding the conversation about what’s next for him. Recently he was asked about it on the Flagrant podcast, where he made it clear it wasn’t the first time he’d thought about his future. Though he couldn’t give fans a concrete answer on how much time he has left, he seems to have a general idea himself.
“I personally have a number. Not even Breakfast Club, but just being a talent period. Not a financial number,” Charlamagne says over two hours into the podcast episode. For fans wondering what’s next, it appears to be a shift to a more behind the scenes role. “I like being behind the scenes a lot more nowadays. Empowering other people, watching people get their shit off, watching other people become these great entities that people love and fuck with,” he elaborated. G-Eazy is no stranger to receiving hate from rap fans online. Despite the hate he’s been a commercially successful. As he notes in a recent appearance on Steve-O’s Wild Ride! podcast, he went on a pretty high-selling run of albums. 2014’s These Things Happen, 2015’s When It’s Dark Out, and 2017’s The Beautiful & The Damned all went on to reach platinum status. “We had a great run, three albums in a row went platinum. Then my mom died. And COVID, my mom passing, I just finally was like, ‘I need to reset,’” the “Me, Myself & I” rapper explains.
He returned with a new album called These Things Happen Too in 2021, but it didn’t reach nearly the same level of commercial success. As he explains in the podcast, he always knew that would be a possibility. “I needed to finally give myself a break and take some pressure off of the cycle of releasing music. And that comes at a risk,” he claims. “Then I’m reading the comments… ‘Damn, he fell off.’ I should not have done this, don’t ever Google yourself. Though G-Eazy hasn’t released a new album in three years he’s dropped a few singles in 2024 already. He confirmed elsewhere in the podcast that his next album would be called Freak Show. Unsurprisingly, the disturbing footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie at a hotel has sparked countless big reactions since it surfaced online earlier this month. Most agree that it’ll be tough, if at all possible, for the Bad Boy Records founder to bounce back reputationally. He apologized for his behavior as it went viral on social media, though it did little to quiet the explosive backlash.
During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the mother of another major force in hip-hop shared her take on the debacle, The Notorious B.I.G.’s mother Voletta Wallace. According to her, seeing it has drastically changed her perception of the mogul, who she admits she once liked. Now, however, she believes he owes a major apology to both Cassie and his own mother, Janice Combs.
“I’m sick to my stomach,” she told the outlet, “I’m praying for Cassie. I’m praying for his mother. I don’t want to believe the things that I’ve heard, but I’ve seen [the hotel video]. I pray that he apologizes to her.” Wallace continued, revealing that she has plans for Diddy the next time she sees him in person. “I hope that I see Sean one day and the only thing I want to do is slap the daylights out of him. And you can quote me on that,” she said. “Because I liked him. I didn’t want to believe all the awful things, but I’m so ashamed and embarrassed.”

Yung Miami isn’t shy about being one of the proudest parents in rap. Even though the competition for that can be pretty stiff she makes a pretty good case for herself by celebrating her kids online regularly. The most recent example came from her son, who is in fifth grade. He’s already on his way to a school dance and Miami went full parent mode celebrating. She took to Instagram to share a photoshoot of her son and his date hilariously posing in a car they’re far to young to drive.
In the comments, fans have a variety of reactions to the post. Some find it totally adorable that Miami is so proud of her son. I would say the first memory I have is singing at my sister’s kindergarten graduation. I was five years old and I wrote my first song for her that day and I remember my family all being there and getting a kick out it!
Who inspired you to take music seriously?
I grew up singing in church so I heard amazing voices all the time but I would say Michael Jackson and Brandy were some of the artists that made me fall in love with music and wanna start making my own sound.
Do you know how to play an instrument? If so, which one? If not, which instrument do you want to learn how to play?
I play piano, and a little bit of guitar but I would love to master electric guitar. It’s my favorite instrument and i’ve always wanted to be able to shred on stage!
What was your first job?
My first job funny enough was acting on Friday Night Lights when i was 9! It was my first time working and getting paid and it just so happened to be something super cool like that show! I remember my first day on set I was feelin myself and thought I could do something like that forever haha.
What is your most prized possession?
I would say my family. Nothing is more important to me than my family, I feel like it’s my most sacred, valuable thing in my life.
What is your biggest fear?
Losing someone I love, or failing. Those things both haunt me. I also have a phobia of birds unfortunately.
Which celebrity do you admire or respect for their personality and why?
I really love Prince and Whitney Houston’s personalities. I admire their candor and how unfiltered they were haha. I dream to be as unapologetic about how I feel and what’s on my mind and then on stage be this incredible talent that people revere.

That’s such a crazy question! in my life?? There’s so many! First one that comes to mind is “Human Nature” by Michael Jackson. I think that song is perfectly written, perfectly composed, perfect everything. Everyday I wish I wrote that song.
What’s your favorite city in the world to perform, and what’s a city you’re excited to perform in for the first time?
One of my favorite ever shows was in London! I had my first headline show there last year and it was sold out and the energy was just electric, I wasn’t expecting it! I also really love performing in New York! I haven’t done a show in Paris yet or Brazil, I’ve been wanting to go there for a long time.
You are throwing a music festival. Give us the dream lineup of 5 artists that will perform with you and the location where it would be held.
It would be in Houston, Texas and I would say Beyonce, Drake, Chris Brown, SZA, and Meg Thee Stallion.
What would you be doing now if it weren’t for music?
I’d probably still be doing something creative or in culinary or in sports! Both my siblings were athletes and I’m really competitive so I’d be somewhere in that world.
If you could see five years into the future or go five years into the past, which one would you pick and why?
I would go five years into the past just to appreciate every moment I experienced more and learn the things I learned all over again. I’ve grown so much in the last couple of years so it’s been a beautiful journey of growth and healing. I’m not in a rush to see the future haha, I like to let God just do His thing and reveal things to me when He wants to!
What’s one piece of advice you’d go back in time to give to your 18-year-old self?
Trust in God’s timing!!! Don’t lose hope if things aren’t panning out at the exact time that you want because it will all align perfectly!
It’s 2050. The world hasn’t ended, and people are still listening to your music. How would you like it to be remembered?
I would love for it to be remembered as a source of healing for people that needed to feel. and I would love for my music to be remembered for it’s composition, the harmonies, the details that went into it.
Amid Young Thug’s highly publicized YSL RICO trial, social media users have seen him receive a great deal of support from both fans and peers. He’s been behind bars for over two years now, facing accusations that his label Young Stoner Life is actually a “violent street gang.” It’s rumored that the trial could continue well into 2027, despite his team’s attempts to speed it up last year. He was arrested in May of 2022 alongside several other alleged YSL members, including Gunna.
Gunna was released in December of the same year after accepting a plea deal, which sparked speculation that he turned his back on his co-defendants in exchange for his own freedom. He denies this, though critics continue to have their suspicions. Regardless, he frequently shows love to Young Thug at his shows and online, prompting mixed reactions from followers.
