Meek Mill Gave A Vulnerable Speech As He Helped Get A Reform Bill Signed And Said It’s ‘Not For Clout’

Meek Mill recently joined Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, as part of his continued efforts with his Reform Alliance nonprofit, according to Rolling Stone. Shapiro had signed SB838, which is a new bill that “limits the length of probation and prevents people from being sent back to jail for minor violations.”

“I thought that it was either I go to jail and I take my son to school and I ended up taking my son to school so I want to thank you guys here today,” Meek Mill shared during his vulnerable speech. “I don’t want to get emotional because it’s a lot. We all grew up in the streets and we tried to be better, but they labeled us as felons and sent us back to jail. I had to fight against that the whole time to gain my respect and be who I am today and I’m proud of that.”

“I don’t even drop tears, but I want to say this because there are a lot of young men who follow me in the streets,” he added. “They don’t really know what I go through to be in these places with government officials and to change my life… I didn’t ask for this position… It’s not for clout, it’s something that I stand and live for.”

Meek Mill started the organization in 2019 alongside Jay-Z and Michael Rubin, with the hopes of being able to “transform probation and parole,” by directly getting the laws to change. The rapper had previously been pardoned by the prior governor, Tom Wolf. He had previously served eight months in prison for drug and weapon possession and would go back for violating house arrest in 2017.

Check out the video of Meek Mill enacting change and his full speech above.

From Rapper to Reformer: Jay-Z Leads Charge with $24M REFORM Charity Benefit

Jay-Z | Meek Mill | Michael Rubin

Pennsylvania’s probation system has officially undergone a transformative shift with the passage of Senate Bill 838 thanks to influential figures such as Meek Mill, Jay-Z, and Michael Rubin. Philadelphia Governor Josh Shapiro is set to sign this bill into law in an upcoming special ceremony.

Jay-Z Walk’s The Talk

In October 2023, a star-studded charitable event hosted by Jay-Z, Meek Mill, and Michael Rubin raised $24 million.

On Dec. 15, the impact of this fundraising was realized as Senate Bill 838, aimed at reforming Pennsylvania’s probation system, will be signed into law by Governor Josh Shapiro. Change has come to Pennsylvania’s probation system with the help of notable names like Meek Mill, Jay-Z, and Michael Rubin.

A special ceremony will be held in Philadelphia, where Governor Shapiro will sign the bill into law, joined by Meek, Rubin, and other advocates.

In a historic moment, the Senate Bill 838, aimed at reforming Pennsylvania’s probation system, has been passed and is now awaiting Governor Josh Shapiro’s signature.

What Will This Change?

The significance of this bill signing is not lost on Meek Mill, as he hails from Pennsylvania and has become a vocal advocate for criminal justice reform.

The bill serves as an emblem of REFORM’s birth story, an organization that aims to address the flaws and injustices within the justice system. Meek Mill’s unjust incarceration served as a catalyst, sparking the #FreeMeek movement and highlighting the millions of Americans negatively impacted by an unfair judicial system.

SB 838 brings about essential reforms that will positively impact over 300,000 individuals on probation in the coming five years. These reforms include limitations on sending individuals to prison for technical violations, the implementation of early termination protocols for probation terms, incentives for maintaining employment and pursuing education, personalized probation conditions, and considering individuals’ financial situations regarding fines, fees, and restitution.

The Values

The success of the REFORM Alliance, which is also spearheaded by the Philly rapper, Michael Rubin, and Jay-Z, is evident through their core values of spark, reaction, and results.

Meek Mill’s unjust imprisonment six years ago ignited international outrage and led to his eventual release.
This prompted a group of leaders from various domains to come together and launch the REFORM Alliance, which aims to transform probation and parole systems for millions of other Americans. Since its inception nearly five years ago, the organization has played a crucial role in passing 17 transformative bipartisan bills in multiple states, providing countless individuals with opportunities to rebuild their lives outside the justice system.

Star-Studded Casino Event Hosted By Jay-Z, Meek Mill & Michael Rubin Raises $24 Million For Criminal Justice Reform

In a star-studded and charitable affair, Jay-Z, Meek Mill, and Michael Rubin, alongside other A-list attendees, hosted an exclusive casino event to raise funds for criminal justice reform. The event was an impressive success, generating over $24 million.

The star-studded affair, led by REFORM co-chairs Michael Rubin, Meek Mill, and founding partner Jay-Z, highlighted the organization’s mission where they work to reshape the nation’s supervision system for nearly 4 million individuals on probation or parole. The black-tie affair aimed to support the important work of REFORM Alliance in transforming the nation’s supervision system for those on probation or parole.

With their joint efforts, the trio and their supporters made a significant stride towards creating opportunities for work and well-being instead of perpetuating a revolving door back to prison.

Raising Awareness & Funds

The event, emceed by the hilarious Kevin Hart, attracted a host of notable celebrities, including legendary rapper Lil Kim, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Quavo, Jack Harlow and more in attendance. These influential figures came together to support the REFORM Alliance’s efforts in creating pathways to work and well-being for millions of individuals on probation or parole.

One of the highlights of the evening was the thrilling final blackjack hand played on-stage for all the guests. The excitement culminated in a $1 million win by Andrew Goldberg, managing partner of TAO GROUP, who generously announced a $750,000 donation from his winnings to further support the work of REFORM Alliance.

Throughout the dinner program, the organization’s remarkable achievements were celebrated.

The focus on public safety solutions has already contributed to the passage of 17 bipartisan bills in 11 states. These legislative victories have paved the way for nearly 700,000 individuals to transition out of the justice system, breaking the cycle of incarceration.

A Night of Philanthropy & Entertainment

The event offered attendees the opportunity to bid on unique items generously donated by NFL player Tom Brady, George Condo, Rashid Johnson, and Jay-Z himself, where the auction raised a staggering $7.8 million.

Following the live auction, surprise performances took center stage. Rappers Travis Scott, Meek Mill, Lil Baby, Fat Joe, Lil Durk, Quavo, French Montana, Fabolous, and Romeo Santos added to the event with their appearances.

Rick Ross Doubles Down On His Promise To Climb Mount Kilimanjaro Next Year

Back in 2022, Rick Ross made a surprising promise to fans. He claimed that he was planning on climbing the tallest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. He initially said he was going to do it in 2023 and was silent on the promise for much of the year. But he’s apparently been quietly putting the work in and hasn’t forgotten the goal he set for himself. In a recent Instagram post, he updated fans on the journey.

While on a run with his friend, author Neil Martinez-Belkin, Ross the newest details on his climb with fans. “I mentioned on the podcast last year we was climbing to the top of Kilimanjaro. It’s official. Early 2024. It’s going down,” he began. He also claims to be in the best shape of his life and has high hopes for his ability to summit the mountain. But he also joked that there was some kind of plan in place just in case he doesn’t make it to the top. Check out the full video he shared below.

Rick Ross Teases Mountain Climb Next Year

Much of the Rick Ross discussion on social media recently has centered around his new boo Christina Mackey. She tried to post some motivation for fans to her Instagram story but it didn’t go over particularly well. Fans mostly focused on just how many women Ross has had in his life over the years and it got so bad that Mackey had to share numerous responses to their backlash.

Last month, Rick Ross teamed up with Meek Mill for a joint album called Too Good To Be True. The feature-packed 17-track affair did receive plenty of positive buzz from fans but it only amounted to modest sales numbers. Some online like 50 Cent tried to take shots at the pair for their relatively low sales but they didn’t seem to be bothered by it. Both rappers took to social media to flex the control they had over their own music being more important than volume sales. What do you think of Rick Ross claiming he plans to climb Mount Kilimanjaro next year? Let us know in the comment section below.

Rick Ross’ New Girlfriend Sends A Message To Her Haters

Earlier this week, Christina Mackey shared some motivation for her fans online. That came in the form of pics she dropped with her new boo Rick Ross including one that appears to be the pair kissing in front of a private jet. “Use it as motivation” she captioned the post seemingly to inspire her followers to similarly chase their dreams. But that wasn’t exactly the theme of many responses to the post.

Plenty of people took issue with just how many women Rick Ross has been associated with throughout his career. The comments in a repost of the pics by The Shade Room eventually got so bad that Mackey had to come to the comments to defend herself. “You all are very mean spirited.. Instead of expressing your love for him as the “supporters” you claim to be, and being happy to see 2 beautiful black people genuinely smile — you’re spreading hate,” her response comment reads. But she had even more to say and chose to say it in a response video she shared to Instagram earlier today. Check out that clip below.

Rick Ross’ Girlfriend Speaks Out

In the new video Mackey shared, she flips things back on the haters themselves. She accuses them of short-sighted jealousy that’s causing them to hate on others and asks why should would ever listen to haters after what she’s earned for herself. Unsurprisingly, that didn’t slow down her critics. “People that make videos to tell the internet “they don’t care about what the internet thinks” is WILD AF to me….. I’ll never understand it,” one of the most upvoted comments on the video reads.

Rick Ross recently teamed up with Meek Mill for a new collaborative album called Too Good To Be True. While some, like 50 Cent, tried to clown the pair for the relatively low sales of the album, it didn’t seem to bother them much. Rather than focusing on raw numbers, both praised the fact that they’ve taken complete ownership of their music. What do you think of Christina Mackey’s new message for those taking issue with her relationship with Rick Ross? Let us know in the comment section below.

We both know what our true gifts are, our talents are when it comes to production. So when it came to this vibe, it was really simple. It didn’t take a lot of time, but we brought the best out of each other. This was just personal.”

He added, “This was just me and Meek and that was just us in the studio. It wasn’t a lot of people, just the team, the private team. Meek, his team, my team, Sam Sneak, Brion, the producers, and we kept it uncut. We went straight to the vein with it. “

“I’m going to run jumping out that window a hundred miles an hour. But we joke all the time. You’re going to see a lot of that throughout the content and all that. And it’s organic too, Zane. We came up with this idea and we got around each other, built, vibed out and then got in the studio. It don’t matter where we’re recording at, we could be in the closet, Rose going to get this shit done.”

Meek Mill’s Mystery Woman On Dubai Trip Had Him Going Bad For Her: Photos

Meek Mill recently hit up Dubai for some international travel, and the baddie that accompanied him had him feeling pretty excited. Moreover, he posted some pictures of them together for which he posed quite seductively, saying that he’s “a different breed” “with the braids.” As such, the Too Good To Be True artist seemed to have a great time, and maybe their socials will show us what else they got up to in the city. Given the recent release of the Rick Ross collab album in question, we’re sure he has plenty of reason and motivation to celebrate. However, the Philly MC also reckoned with some less than positive stories and narratives in his life as of late.

For example, he recently called out Trippie Redd out of the blue, and had some harsh words for the Ohio hitmaker. “This guy no good!!!” Meek Mill wrote on his IG Story over a picture of Trippie. “I ain’t even know you said my name…. If you f**k with me f**k this guy right here…. I wanna stand on n***as freely saying my name make it tight outside! I ain’t even know you said my name I seen you get pulled in a room by the gangstas in la you was scared. But let’s see how tough yall guys are! I can’t believe these Philly young bulls gassed you to say my name! ‘ look like you repping the devil ima show you how trying god is @trippieredd.”

On the other hand, the Dream Chasers boss also recalled his very first rap battle, during which he very much got destroyed. “My first time rap battling — this some real s**t — that n***a made me cry,” Meek Mill shared. “I was like a bada** young boy at the time. We was battling, but it wasn’t about the battle. My whole hood was laughing at me and I never got laughed at about s**t. You can’t mess with my sneakers, nothing! I turned around and peeped with my eyes, got that lump in my throat, I started crying and walked off. I said, ‘All y’all n***as gonna be banging my s**t!’”

Meanwhile, what do you think about this recent post? Will we see this mystery woman more or is this a chapter in the book of the cougar fantasizer? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. For more news and the latest updates on Meek Mill, check back in with HNHH.

Meek Mill Blasts Trippie Redd: ‘This Guy No Good!’

Meek Mill Confirms That He Privately Apologized to Vanessa Bryant

Meek Mill has some words for Trippie Redd. Hitting Instagram, Meek wrote “This guy no good!!!”

In a message on Instagram, Meek wrote: “If you fuck with me fuck this guy right here…. I wanna stand on niggas freely saying my name make it tight outside!”

Meek would go on to state that Trippie is no longer welcome in Philadelphia and also added “I seen you get pulled in a room by gangstas in LA you was scared but let’s see how tough yall guys are.”

And another message read, “He may worship the devil so all my god bodies watch this p**** I can’t wait to see him.”

There is currently no direct source of what set Meek off. You can see his messages below.

Why Are Meek Mill & Trippie Redd Beefing?

meek mill
Getty Image

If you asked me to name two rappers who were very likely to beef, Meek Mill and Trippie Redd would be very low on the list. They just run in such disparate circles — only ever crossing over occasionally — that before today, I’d have been willing to bet that Meek didn’t even know who Trippie is, let alone have beef with him.

And yet… here we are.

Apparently, Trippie did something very irksome to Meek — which hasn’t proven to be extremely difficult in recent years — resulting in the Philly rapper going all the way off the handle on Trippie via Instagram. In a series of since-deleted posts, Meek threatened the Ohio rapper, demeaned his street credibility, and told him he “look like you repping the devil” (which is in my top-ten rap fan tropes that need to die by New Year’s Eve).

Rap fans on the whole seem pretty confused by the whole thing, wondering what exactly sparked the tirade from Meek, to which Trippie has yet to respond. Was Meek’s (often hilarious) account hacked? Did Trippie say something about him behind-the-scenes? Are they hyping up some sort of collaboration (unlikely, but entirely possible this week)? No one seems to know, but if things continue or escalate, we may have a chance to learn more.

Chris Brown Scores Another Top 10 Album As NBA Youngboy, Meek Mill And Rick Ross Sell More Than 30k

Chris Brown’s new studio album 11:11 sees the R&B star once again in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. Every single one of his projects have scored top 10 debuts, with 11:11 coming in at 9th. While it’s the lowest debut on the charts for an album in his career so far, it’s still a monumentally impressive achievement. It’s Brown’s first studio album since 2009’s Graffiti to debut outside the top 5, with that album turning up at number 7. The project sold 44k copies placing it above albums released this year from artists like Don Toliver, Jack Harlow, and Trippie Redd.

It also debuted above some other big rap albums that came out the same week. NBA Youngboy released his 4th album of 2023 Decided 2. The project landed the third highest first week sales of the 4 projects pushing 35k units in its first week. Meek Mill and Rick Ross also teamed up for a new collaborative album called Too Good To Be True. Their star-studded collaborative project sold just over 31k copies in its first week. All three projects were out-sold by new albums from K-pop group Stray Kids and country singer Chris Stapleton this week.

Chris Brown’s New Album Puts Him Back In The Top 10

Meek Mill already shared his thoughts on his new album’s first week sales following the early predictions. While some fans were disappointed by the numbers he and Rick Ross ended up with, he saw things differently. He saw the dip in sales as a worthwhile sacrifice for going outside the industry machine and making sure that he and Rick Ross own all of their music.

Chris Brown managed his sales numbers after surprise dropping his album a day early. He was originally planning on dropping the project on November 11, which is fittingly 11/11. But fans found the project released a day early on November 10. What do you think of the first week sales for new albums from Chris Brown, NBA Youngboy, Meek Mill, & Rick Ross? Let us know in the comment section below.
