IDK And Joey Badass Fire Off Nothing But Pristine East Coast Raps In A Preview Of Their New Collab, ‘Denim’

It seems that in 2024, there will be plenty of rappers on the comeback trail. Add to their number IDK and Joey Badass, who are both looking to follow-up well-received projects in F65 and 2000, respectively. As they both appear to have new albums on the way, it only makes sense for them to team up, which they do on “Denim,” a new single coming out this Friday, March 29. To generate some buzz, they hit up the respected freestyle rap outlet From The Block to perform their song before the New York City skyline overlooking the Hudson River.

When last we heard from IDK, he was promoting songs from both the soundtrack to the Apple TV original series Swagger (“Win“) and his fourth studio album, F65. He had also recently collected accolades for his collaborative EP with Kaytranada, Simple, and performing at Coachella last spring.

Joey Badass, meanwhile, garnered attention for more personal dealings, including his burgeoning relationship with actress Serayah. Although he didn’t put out much new music in 2023, he did deliver a swan song for his Power character, Unique, who met an inevitable demise that nonetheless surprised Joey himself. This year, he’s released two tracks: “Fallout” with Lyrical Lemonade, Lil Yachty, and Gus Dapperton, and “Passports & Suitcases” with Kaycyy.

Serayah Crying Footage Has Joey Badass Putting “TMZ” On Blast

After seeing a video of Serayah and her boo, Joey Badass, getting in their feelings during a stroll through Los Angeles earlier this week, some began to worry about the status of the pair’s beloved relationship. Thankfully, the “Love Is Only a Feeling” artist once again won the world over when he wrapped his arms around his girl in a sweet embrace amid her sobbing. Rather than simply leave it at that, he’s also addressing the situation on Instagram to clear up any concerns from social media sleuths.

On Tuesday (March 12), Badass’ Instagram lit up with a new photo dump of him and Serayah dressed to the nines. We’ve seen plenty of them killing it on red carpets and at Fashion Week events over the past few months, but this might be one of their best collaborations yet. While the multi-talent looked dapper as ever in a black suit with simple but elegant gold accessories, his date was shining bright like a diamond. The top half of her dress was covered in silver gems, resembling a seashell, while the feathers around the bottom only helped to enhance her curves.

In his caption, Badass wrote, “People all in our business they don’t even know the facts, they don’t see the s**t we witness only what the cameras catch ,” crediting @swurv3 for capturing photos. Clearly, the 29-year-old’s pen game is just as strong as ever, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be back on the market anytime soon.

Now that we know Joey Badass and Serayah’s relationship is still going strong, the couple’s supporters are wondering what’s next for each of them. Back in January, the rapper-turned-actor said goodbye to his character on 50 Cent’s Raising Kanan, meanwhile, his lover showed off her vocal skills with a seven-track EP last summer called Flutter. Conway The Machine & Joey Bada$$ Go The Distance On “Vertino”

It seems like Conway the Machine always has a new track, EP, or album out every Friday. To some that can be very annoying. The reason why is because his voice and messages in his songs can get stale very quick. However, the Buffalo native always finds a way to keep things interesting even with the frequent release pace. That can be said about Conway the Machine’s brand-new single “Vertino.”

He grabs Joey Bada$$ for this one and both sound great over this dark boom-bap instrumental. The beat is not anything we have not heard Conway on before. But, it just sounds good. Especially at the very end when the grimy guitar loop rolls in. Both New Yorkers rap extensive verses while Joey handles the chorus.

Denzel Curry Comes To Joey Badass’ Defense After Fans Dislike New Snippet

Earlier this week, Joey Badass took to Instagram to share a new snippet of music with fans. But the track had a very different feel than what many are expecting when he drops new music. It followed in the footsteps of his song “Fallin’” last year which took his sound in a more R&B-influenced direction. The new preview sounds similar even making use of electronic vocal effects and auto-tune over Joey’s singing. But fans expecting more straightforward rap music flooded the comments with their opinions.

In response to the negative reaction, Denzel Curry came to Joey’s defense. The two have crossed paths musically before, teaming up for the fan-favorite “Zenith,” a standout cut from Curry’s 2016 album Imperial. Curry took to Twitter to stand up for Joey’s right to expand his range artistically. “I Support my brother Joey Bada$$ new Art and you shouldn’t hold people back for trying new things if you like 1999 then go listen to 1999 it’s on streaming platforms,” his tweet reads. One of the favorite characters of many, Unique, played by New York rapper Joey Bada$$, was recently killed off. His role was in the Power Book III: Raising Kanan spin-off. Like the supporters of Kadeem Mathis, Bada$$ was also quite heartbroken about leaving the great cast and crew behind.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, he said, “ Unique Forever Much love to my @raisingkananstarz family. It was an honor and pleasure. ” Fans have been stunned for a few days now.
