Metro Boomin has been racking up tons of awards over the past year. Both of his recent albums are still doing crazy streaming numbers. While he does have a lot of big songs, with some getting radio play, they do not have your typical “bubblegum” feel to them. When you break down his productions detail by detail, there is certainly a lot of intricacies that you will catch.

You can have superstar artists on your beats, but that alone is not enough. It is a big reason why more underground names have been dominating 2023. They do not necessarily need big names attached to their works. Artists like Danny Brown, JPEGMAFIA, Black Thought, and more put a lot of effort into what they do. Metro has certainly done that now with HEROES & VILLAINS, for example. But, he really has done it throughout the entirety of his career. The publication recognized him as their producer of the year. AllHipHop grabbed some quotable excerpts from the talk and one of them takes a shot a cash-grabbing artists. The St. Louis native said, “I feel like people can just tell I care. At a time when everybody has their hand out — like, ‘Let me do this for cash; let me make a dance for TikTok’ — you can hear all the details and thought behind my music.” He brings up an interesting point and a prevalent one at that. While there are definitely benefits to platforms like TikTok, a lot of listeners have their reservations about them.

Kanye West Is Attempting To Buy Out Lil Durk’s Label Contract: Details

Kanye West and Lil Durk have not given us much material together. However, when they have, it has been special. One of those moments landed on Ye’s 2021 record, Donda. “Jonah,” one of the more emotionally deep cuts on the record, was certainly a slept-on moment in the tracklist. Then, of course, we have one of the most controversial songs of the year, “Vultures.” Some people are vibing with it, while others are disappointed in the final product. It is due mostly because of Kanye’s most talked about bar on the single.

“How I’m anti-Semitic? I just fucked a Jewish b****,” has been the talk of the town. The track was also getting a lot of people upset due to the fact that Durk was left off on the initial release. The Chicago drill rapper was pretty upset about it, according to Revolt. He said on an Instagram Story, “Be lucky I’m humble. Look at it as your blessing.” While some were mad at Kanye for not including Durk, we now have more background as to why. Durk’s label, Alamo Records, has had issues with the GOOD Music label before.

Revolt says there has not been much movement in getting this done at the moment. However, if this does go through, we could get tons of new music from these two.

Rod Wave Denies Stealing Boosie Badazz Sample: “Find You A Hobby Fk Nia”

When Rod Wave first caught wind of the hate Boosie Badazz was spreading about him online, the 25-year-old took things in stride. He offered to have a discussion with the Louisana native so they can agree to an amount of money to squash the situation, but instead, Boosie is hinting at filing a lawsuit and dropping a diss track about Rod. At this point, the “Great Gatsby” artist has had enough of the drama and has taken to platforms like Twitter and Instagram to get some things off his chest.

“Jus ‘cuz you know ’bout da original song [doesn’t] mean I stole it? [You] d*mb b**ch,” he wrote in a now-deleted tweet. “I ain’t never stole s**t, five platinum albums. Find [you] a hobby f**k ni**a. [You] b**ches don’t even [f**k with me], speaking on me. Mind yo bidness b**ch,” his rant continued. While that likely helped air out some of his feelings, it wasn’t enough for Wave to call it a night. Instead, he hopped on his IG Story with more to say.

“It was okay for me to be a f**king teenager listening to they music,” the Florida native vented to his followers on Tuesday (November 21). “Supporting them and s**t, f**king with them… How they finna be bringing up all these lyrics like I stole some s**t? It’s public record. I ain’t stole no s**t. Tryna come up with some s**t like I stole they s**t.”

Among others who are weighing in on the validity of Boosie Badazz’s bitterness is Fat Joe. The Terror Squad member can name at least 20 instances that would give him grounds to claim his music was “stolen” by other artists but doesn’t seem too bothered about bringing the potential legal battles to court. Lizzo Harassment Lawsuit Update: Accusers Fighting Attempted Dismissal In Court

Life for Lizzo since being accused of creating a hostile work environment for some of her dancers has mostly returned to normal, though the lawsuit they’ve raised against her hasn’t quite disappeared yet. The Detroit native’s legal team previously filed a motion to have the case dismissed, but on Friday (November 10), Rolling Stone confirmed that lawyers for Lizzo’s accusers are standing firmly behind their client’s allegations.

Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez – with the help of their attorneys – have filed an opposition pointing out that “anti-SLAPP statuses don’t protect Lizzo from facing legal repercussions for their allegations.” In the 19-page document, the women accuse the body positive creative of “either cherry-pick[ing] allegations or outright [omitting those] inconvenient to their position, instead sanitizing them with euphemisms.”

As HipHopDX notes, Lizzo’s team has already responded to today’s allegations, reminding readers that many of her team members have already publicly pledged their loyalty to her in this trying time. “Last month, 18 independent witnesses stood by Lizzo’s work ethic and character,” Stefan Friedman told the outlet. “It is clear that since then, these plaintiff lawyers have come up with exactly zero to refute these facts.” For their part, the defence suggests that Davis, Williams, and Rodriquez were exhibiting “a pattern of gross misconduct and failure to perform their job up to par” before cutting ties with Lizzo.

Paul Costict Dead At 57, B-Rock & The Bizz Member Mourned By Loved Ones

Unfortunately for music lovers, another pioneer of hip-hop has lost their lives far too soon. On Monday (October 23), TMZ shared the sad news of Paul Costict’s death, which reportedly happened unexpectedly at his home in Norfolk, Virginia on Saturday. A family member told the outlet that the 57-year-old’s cause of death is unclear at this time, though he was in good spirits during a phone call earlier on in the week. It’s worth mentioning that the B-Rock and The Bizz member recently dealt with an illness, though we’re not sure if that will be connected to his death in the long run.

Costict’s music career was relatively short, as his group became a one-hit wonder thanks to the success of “My Baby Daddy.” It landed back in 1997 and ultimately went on to peak at No. 10 on the Billboard chart at the time. Prior to his passing, the artist saw the single certified gold, though it went on to cause him some problems on an episode of Divorce Court.

Costict found himself in a dispute with his ex-wife, Lasancious, over his commemorative RIAA plaque, which she wanted to hold onto during their separation. His fellow band member, Thaddeus “T-Bird” Maye told TMZ he’ll remember Paul as “a very funny and Kool brother.” The two grew up together in Alabama, and enjoyed the time they spent together creating.

Even though posthumous releases are nice in thought, they rarely hit the same as music shared straight from the source. It’s unlikely we’ll hear more from Paul Costict, but we’re continuing to see others who have been laid to rest surpassing impressive milestones musically. Dame Dash “Broke” But “Proud,” Roc-A-Fella Co-Founder Says He’s Been “Losing Money For Years”

Figures like Benzino and Dame Dash were at the top of their game decades ago, but as time has passed, so have the ways of the music industry. Now, the landscape looks completely different, and the men responsible for running The Source and Roc-a-Fella have unfortunately fallen on hard financial times. Both have been open about their struggles in the past, with Dash recently speaking his truth on an episode of The CEO Show. During his interview, the 52-year-old confirmed that he’s been watching his bank account balance dwindle for years, despite all that he previously accomplished as an executive and entrepreneur.

“I’ve had to start [a] new company from scratch, without any money to start it with,” the guest told host Dr. Taje Moreno. “I had to do it [by] rubbing two sticks together. So I can’t pay out three or four hundred thousand a year in child support, ‘cause I ain’t making that. But I’m not ashamed of that because I have things to show for it, but it hasn’t profited yet,” he confidently continued. Though he’s “broke,” Dash is still “proud,” he explains past the 11:30 mark in the video below.

In addition to that, the New Yorker clarified that the ownership stake in his ex-wife Rachel Roy’s fashion line was taken into consideration when the payments were determined. She presently controls that equity, which Dash believes should supplement Roy for the missing child support. “You can’t be mad at me and make me feel bad if the money that I had to give the kids, you got, and you still expecting me to pay that while I’m investing and losing money for years,” the father of three vented.

He and Ty Dolla Sign have reportedly been planning for a massive performance in Italy, though that was postponed earlier this week. Amid that news, reports of West having a difficult time finding a distributor for his next LP have been spreading rapidly.

Even with all the trouble he’s landed himself in over his comments on the Jewish community, the 46-year-old still has friends willing to stick their neck out for him. Among them is Rick Ross, who publicly expressed an interest in signing West to his Maybach Music Group label. “Imagine if Ye came and allowed MMG to distribute his new project,” the “Purple Lamborghini” hitmaker reflected.

Gillie Da Kid Reacts To Birdman’s Clubhouse Comments: “I’m Bigger Than That Ni**a Right Now”

For some listeners, Birdman’s recent Clubhouse conversation with Wack 100 and other industry executives gave an insightful look at what’s happening in the industry at this time. Others, however, like Gille Da Kid, weren’t so impressed with what the Cash Money Records CEO had to say about him. If you didn’t tune in, Birdman spoke candidly about what transpired between him and the podcaster that led to their falling out, though he said he has no “ill feelings” toward Gillie. Despite the mostly positive message, the Million Dollaz Worth of Game host wasn’t having it.

“I’m bigger than Baby. Ain’t that [wild]?” the Philadelphia native said on Instagram Live earlier this week. “I’m bigger than that ni**a right now. I generate more money than that ni**a right now. I don’t wanna hear this s**t. Motherf**kers counting me out and I’m f**king bigger than you,” Gillie ranted, obviously in his feelings over what Birdman had to say about their past. “Shut up. Nobody give a f**k about you,” he publicly declared.

Later on during the same stream, Gillie couldn’t help but point out that the Louisana native kept quiet on the matter for an awful long time. “Birdman waited so long to say something man, I can’t even respond when you say something 25 years later,” he called out his former mentor. “You only respond because you don’t hear the roar of the crowd no more… I done called you a b**ch a** ni**a for 25 years. 25 years later you respond… I see the way you treated a real ni**a, rest in peace Killer Stone. It was initially reported that he and longtime client Justin Bieber will be parting ways, leaving many music lovers shocked. While that provided a sigh of relief to some, Variety dropped a report on Tuesday (August 22) with sources claiming that Braun will be walking away from the world of artist management.

Aside from the Bieber rumour, Demi Lovato has also amicably parted ways with SB Projects, and word has it that Ariana Grande is looking elsewhere too. Justin Bieber & Scooter Braun Management Deal Will Continue, Sources Confirm

In the music industry today, it’s rare to see artists find managers that they’re able to work with as they evolve for more than a few years. Of course, there are exceptions like Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun. They’ve been together since the Canadian was just a young boy from Stratford, Ontario sharing singing videos in his living room. Due to his many health struggles, Bieber has taken some time out of the spotlight as of late. On Friday (August 18), reports began circulating via Puck that he and Braun haven’t spoken in several months.

According to the original gossip tip, the “Baby” hitmaker has been shopping around for new management options. Rumour has it that lawyers are even involved. However, just hours after that news hit the net, Entertainment Tonight shared an exclusive report stating that Braun and his client have no bad blood between them. “Justin and Scooter are still working together. Justin is not taking meetings to look for new management. The two recently worked on something together,” multiple people have told the outlet.

Months before that, he and the Cactus Jack artist connected on another hit single, “Honest.”
