NBA YoungBoy & Herm Bring A Catchy Melody To “My Bobo”

NBA YoungBoy sort of pulled a 180 on us a little bit with the release of his new album Compliments of Grave Digger Mountain. Usually when he drops a project it is super long. On average, you can expect at least 18-20 tracks. Sometimes, that number can hit 30 plus. However, YB decided to trim the runtime down with just 13 tracks. The last time he hit that number was in 2022 with the release of 3800 Degrees. Also surprising is that none of the songs that were dropped on YouTube made it to this project.

Apparently, NBA YoungBoy has another album coming (no surprise there). So, maybe those songs will a home in the near future. Currently, Compliments of Grave Digger Mountain is available on Spotify and Soundcloud, but not Apple Music or YouTube. Our condolences go out to those users. But, we are here to talk about “My Bobo,” a collaboration with Herm.

We feel it is one of the stronger cuts, thanks in part to Herm and YB’s chemistry. Also, this song has a solid melody, especially coming from the keys and the lead’s vocals. A “Bobo” is a person that loves materialism and affluence and it after hearing that definition, it makes the lyrics a little more confusing actually. It seems the track is more so about violence than wealth. Either way, it is one of the stronger bangers on the record.

Jalen Hurts Shaves His Goatee, Fans Are Devastated

Fans are mourning the loss of Jalen Hurts’ signature goatee as the Eagles QB debuted a clean-shaven look on social media. The 25-year-old looks considerably older without his facial hair, which he has had in one form or another since his 2018 sophomore season at Alabama.

As mentioned, fans were not happy about Hurts’ decision to shave. “Don’t make me start knocking sh-t over Jalen ,” one fan warned. “Went from Democrat to Republican,” joked another. Furthermore, many people joked that he now looked like a dad. “WHERE HE AT I SEE HIS FATHER, BUT WHERE HE AT?” teased one fan. “He look like a n-gga in a city who looks like Jake’s Hurts,” mused someone else. Goatee or not, Hurts is popular both within and outside the NFL. Last year, Hurts got to rub shoulders with the rich and famous during an appearance at the TIME 100 Gala. Attending with long-time partner Bry Burrows, Hurts found himself sitting alongside Nigerian musician Tems. The pair were seen exchanging pleasantries in videos posted to social media. Unfortunately, many of the videos were posted without audio so it remains a mystery what the pair talked about.

Meanwhile, in November, LeBron James responded to the love he was shown by Hurts. “And it’s all love and respect right back to you Young [King]!!!” LeBron wrote in response to Hurts speaking at length about how much he admits the veteran Laker. Hurts addressed his admiration for LeBron after attending Lakers-Sixers earlier in the week. “Just thought it’d be cool to go see him, and obviously I had the opportunity to meet him. I wanted him to shake my dad’s hand, too. That’s a guy that my dad has watched, being an older guy, watched him grow into the monumental figure he is now. It’s just all love and respect for him,” Hurts said at an Eagles media availability.

Katt Williams Stole Jokes From J.B. Smoove, Nelly Claims

Nelly has accused Kat Williams of stealing jokes from J.B. Smoove. “The hypocrisy of it is he stole J.B. Smoove’s joke,” Nelly said as Cedric the Entertainer spoke on his beef with Williams on The Shop. However, Nelly is not the first person to make the allegation against Williams. “I dare somebody to say this ain’t true ’cause I can get a thousand comics to back me up. I root for Katt, but that joke where he do like, ‘Man, if you listen to this song, you can do anything off this song. That’s J.B. Smoove’s joke, homie.,” Corey Holcomb said on the Wonder Twinz.

Of course, Williams accused Cedric the Entertainer of stealing jokes on Club Shay Shay. “1998, I’m doing this joke…Cedric comes to The Comedy Store, he watches me in the audience, he comes backstage, he tells me what a great job I did and how much he loves the joke. Two years later, he’s doing that as his last joke on The [Original] Kings Of Comedy and he’s doing it verbatim, he just changed my car into a spaceship,” Williams said. However, he also noted that Cedric had since apologized to him.

Of course, there were a lot of reactions to Williams’ fiery interview. Saturday Night Live took aim at Williams’ Club Shay Shay interview in an episode in January. Ego Nwodim played Williams while Devin Walker played Shannon Sharpe. The skit was billed as the “eight-hour extended version” of the interview. “Three things are true about me. I am 5’3, I have never told a lie, and I am 6’3,” Nwodim’s Williams says. Furthermore, the skit featured several jokes about Williams’ comments about Kevin Hart. “Look, Hollywood made Kevin Hart. Everyone knows Kevin Hart was made in the same factory where they make Teddy Grahams. Why the hell he smell like cinnamon?” ranted Williams. Other targets of Nwodim’s Williams included Barak Obama and included Williams claiming he invented fruit.

Furthermore, Williams has continued to fuel his post-interview beefs. He dropped a freestyle aimed at Ludacris while appearing on Suge Knight’s Collect Call podcast. “I’m coming for your number one spot, one of us a killer and the other one is not/ One of us the realest and the other one a fraud/ You heard the interview on ‘Club Shay Shay,’ I gave ’em all a payday/ I’m still going f-cking viral so who care what the haters say/ Ludacris, you must be out your rabid a– mind/ You made a rap song but, n-gga, you ain’t say I’m f-cking lying,” Williams rapped. Furthermore, Williams implied that Ludacris had engaged in a sexual relationship with Quincy Jones.

Saigon And Fredro Featuring Grand Puba “Think Twice”

In conjunction with the celebration of Hip-Hop’s landmark 50^th anniversary, legendary rapper Saigon & and Swedish multi-platinum producer Fredro have joined forces to create a love letter to Hip-Hop. Specifically, 1986-1996, a/k/a The Jordan Era. They have also tapped many other legendary voices to help join their celebration.

After announcing their new album, and releasing the project’s first single and video, “Lyrical Genius,” which featured one of Hip-Hop’s “holy trinity of emcees” in Grandmaster Caz (co-author of “Rappers Delight” and the emcee with the longest running tenure atop the billboard Hot 100 Charts), and “Get Loose” with Pete Rock, now they are back again with yet another legend, Grand Puba, who is featured on the new single “Think Twice”; which is now available.

Saigon and Grand Puba both show and prove on “Think Twice,” taking turns flaunting their effortless styles and flows over Fredro’s bouncy production. You will also hear “Think Twice” being played during the new episode (EP. 302) of the Starz breakout hit show BMF, which will air on 3-8-24.

Oprah’s Upcoming TV Special Will Address Impact of Weight Loss Drug

Media Mogul Oprah Winfrey is ready to discuss one of the hottest topics in modern medicine—the weight loss drugs that are taking the industry by storm—in her upcoming ABC primetime special, “An Oprah Special: Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution,” which will air in a couple of weeks.

TMZ reports that the special will address “the impact prescription weight loss drugs are having on society, including herself.”

It’s interesting timing, as this special is being released close to Oprah’s parting ways with Weight Watchers after a long-standing 10-year partnership. This arguably negatively impacted the weight loss company after the revelation that she uses weight loss drugs.

Let’s be real: many media outlets reported she lost an astounding 40 pounds last year alone, much attributed to prescribed medication, although she never said which one she uses.

Get this: Oprah once said the usual suspects in the weight loss drug world, like Ozempic and Mounjaro, were an “easy way out,” but I guess she had a change of heart, even though, again, we don’t know what she used.

Back to the TV special. TMZ reports it will “explore questions and concerns about weight loss medications’ intended uses, side effects and their impacts on people living with obesity and diabetes.” On its face, it feels informative and needed with these drugs being so popular right now.

In a statement, Oprah said, “It is a very personal topic for me and for the hundreds of millions of people impacted around the globe who have for years struggled with weight and obesity.”

She continued “This special will bring together medical experts, leaders in the space and people in the day-to-day struggle to talk about health equity and obesity with the intention to ultimately release the shame, judgment and stigma surrounding weight.”

Maybe she will review what she used to drop the pounds. Stay tuned …

Denzel Washington Back on Broadway With Jake Gyllenhaal in Classic Story of ‘Othello’

Acting icon Denzel Washington is heading back to Broadway, and he is poised to play Othello, William Shakespeare’s tragic African general. The new production will be opposite Jake Gyllenhaal. Talk about two Hollywood heavyweights sharing the stage for one of Shakespeare’s greatest stories.

Kenny Leon is directing the production of Othello by producer Brian Anthony Moreland. Washington plays Othello, and Gyllenhaal stars as Lago, his nemesis who ruins his life and marriage.

Most of the upcoming Broadway rendition of Othello is being kept under wraps, but the production will kick off in the spring of 2025.

The last time Washington dipped his toe into Shakespeare was in Kenneth Branagh’s 1993 film Much Ado About Nothing. The film also starred Branagh, Emma Thompson, Keanu Reeves and Michael Keaton. Washington also starred in The Tragedy of Macbeth, an Apple TV+ film directed by Joel Coen, and co-starred Frances McDonald and Alex Hassell.

Washington is also starring as another iconic historic African general, Hannibal, in a film by Antoine Fuqua.

‘Sugar’ Trailer: Colin Farrell, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and More in Apple TV+’s New Detective Series

If you’re a fan of detective shows like True Detective, then Sugar might be a sweet heir apparent, pun intended. Apple TV+ released the first trailer for Sugar, which Shadow and Act reportedly described as a private detective drama series.

The new series stars veteran actor Colin Farrell, who coincidentally led arguably the least popular second season of True Detective. He plays an investigator on the verge of solving a mysterious disappearance.

Sugar will premiere on the streamer with two episodes on April 5. Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Amy Ryan also star.

Here’s the official synopsis from Apple TV+:

“Starring and executive produced by Farrell, Sugar is a contemporary, unique take on one of the most popular and significant genres in literary, motion picture, and television history: the private detective story. Academy Award-nominee Colin Farrell stars as John Sugar, an American private investigator on the heels of the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel family secrets; some very recent, others long-buried.“

Here’s the breakdown of the other cast members: James Cromwell, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler, and Alex Hernandez are all on board for the ride.

Farrell is the executive producer of Sugar, and the series creator is Mark Protosevich. The series is directed by Fernando Meirelles, an executive producer, and Adam Arkin, who co-executive produces. Audrey Chon and Simon Kinberg are executive producers for Genre Films, with Sam Catlin, Scott Greenberg, and Chip Vucelich serving as executive producers.
