The Kendrick Lamar ‘Mustard’ Meme Is Taking Over The Internet

On Friday, Kendrick Lamar dropped a surprise (and Taylor Swift-free) new album, GNX. By Saturday, a meme was born. On “TV Off,” featuring Lefty Gunplay, Lamar yells “MUSTARD” — or as it’s transcribed by someone on Genius, “MUSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD.” Is it a reference to his favorite condiment? Possibly, but it’s also a nod to DJ Mustard, a rapper and producer who worked on GNX, as well as Lamar’s No. 1 hit “Not Like Us.”

Lamar’s “Mustard” shout out is all over the internet, including brands like McDonald’s, the Minions, and Shrek. There are Simpsons references, Peanuts-style drawings, and TikTok edits. A pastor yelled “Mustard” during a church service, as seen here, and even Lizzo got involved.

Mustard seems to be enjoying all the attention.

“I’ve been literally trying to get a song with him for years,” the producer told Billboard about Lamar. “Before I even made that beat [for “Not Like Us”], I got to a point where I was like, ‘I’m gonna send five beats a day.’ I maybe sent him five beats a day for maybe three months. I’m still doing it right now just in case he wants to record something. I sent him that beat and then I think that day I would make it a point just to go to the studio to make a couple of beats to send to him.”

He added, “I don’t think I even understood how big it was until it went No. 1. I was like, ‘This is the biggest song I ever had in my life.’ I just wanted a song with Kendrick.”

Kendrick Lamar surprised the entire hip-hop world on Friday when he decided to drop off a new album called GNX. Overall, this is being considered the hip-hop album of the year, and it has only been out for a couple of days. If one thing is for certain with this album, it is that Kendrick has united the West Coast. He featured numerous smaller West Coast artists on the project, and it has made for one of Kendrick’s most unique listens to date.

In the past, Kendrick has gone heavy with the concepts for his albums. GKMC was about his life growing up in Compton. Meanwhile, TPAB was all about America and the racism it was founded on. Mr. Morale was one huge therapy session. However, GNX is not burdened by a grandiose concept. Instead, it is Kendrick having a whole lot of fun. A great example of this is the song “Peekaboo” with AzChike. The song contains skeletal yet bouncy production in which Kendrick sounds as menacing as ever. On numerous occasions, he and AzChike trade bars and it makes for an amazing balancing act.

Ultimately, “Peekaboo” serves as an example of the type of creative space Kendrick is in right now. He wants to have fun but he also wants to embrace the boogeyman nickname that has been given to him. GNX is a victory lap and we’re not sure the lap is going to come to an end, anytime soon.

Drake Delivers a Message: ‘You Need Facts to Take Me Out’

Drake wants fans to know that the beef with Kendrick Lamar didn’t put him down. Appearing on stream with xQc, Drake stood in “mind, body, and soul.”

“I’m here, as you can see, fully intact,” Drake said. “You need facts to take me out, fairytales won’t do it.”

Drake is ready to take on Australia. After teasing the tour last week, The Boy confirmed the move during an appearance on xQc’s livestream.

“I’m coming to Australia for the first time in eight years, coming back to Australia on tour it’s actually funny enough called the Anitta Max Wynn tour,” he announced. “Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast.”

The tour will launch on Feb. 9, ironically the same day as Kendrick Lamar takes the Super Bowl stage.

Last week, the OVO superstar hints at international dates by showing an Instagram throwback image of Australia. “It’s been like 7 years,” Drake wrote with several eyeball emoji.

In related news, Drake is back with a new music video. The Boy dons all OVO clothing and is surrounded by his Woes in the video for “No Face.” You can see the whole unit at a mall, riding through the space in Escalades and with the OVO flags in tow. You can see the whole video.

Kendrick Lamar’s “squabble up” was first teased in the “Not Like Us” video, prompting fans to ask for it endlessly. The single arrived on the new GNX album and is immediately running up the streams. The single is expected to end Shaboozey’s streak on top of the Billboard 200 with “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”

The single is projected to debut at No. 1 and be Lamar’s third for the year, following “Not Like Us” and “Like That.”

SZA Says a ‘Whole New Project’ Will Arive Before 2025

SZA is on the clock. With her brother Kendrick Lamar dropping off GNX last week, SZA reveals that she will also serve fans before the end of the year.

Sitting with Kai Cenat on his marathon stream, SZA revealed a “whole new project” is in the tuck and “will be out before the year is over.”

Earlier this month, speaking with British Vogue, she previewed the Lana album.

“I think I am making music from a more beautiful place,” SZA said. “From a more possible place versus a more angsty place. I’m not identifying with my brokenness. It’s not my identity. It’s s**t that happened to me. Yeah, I experienced cruelty. I have to put it down at some point. Piece by piece, my music is shifting because of that, the lighter I get.”

Yak Gotti caught a break in his portion of the YSL Trial as some of his charges were dismissed.

According to 11 Allive, Gotti, born Deamonte Kendrick, had three counts related to drug possession and distribution tossed out by Judge Paige Whitaker via directed verdict.

A directed verdict cites, “there is no legally sufficient evidentiary basis for a reasonable jury to reach a different conclusion.”

Another directed verdict for his additional charges, including a RICO charge, was denied. That filing stated, “A person who was merely present at the scene of the commission of a crime at the time is not necessarily guilty of consent in and concurrence in the commission of the crime unless the evidence shows beyond a reasonable doubt that such person committed the alleged crime, helped in the actual perpetration of the crime, or participated in the criminal endeavor.”

PETA Sends Drake Bunny Chocolates to Thank Him for OVO Cloting Banning Animal Fur

Life is a box of chocolates when you help out animals. After Drake’s OVO clothing line banned animal fur from its clothing, PETA sent Drake bunny-shaped vegan chocolates as a thank you.

October’s Very Own (OVO), the clothing and lifestyle brand co-founded by Drake, has officially announced that it will no longer sell products made with real animal fur. The move comes after pressure from PETA and over 100,000 e-mails from its supporters urging the brand to end its use of fur, including that from rabbits and coyotes. PETA is sending OVO vegan bunny-shaped chocolates in appreciation.

“Fur belongs on the animals who were born in it, not on jackets and footwear,” said PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. The animal rights organization celebrates OVO’s decision, joining numerous fashion brands like Canada Goose and Dolce & Gabbana in rejecting fur.

Rabbits, known for their joyful leaps and sensitive nature, and coyotes, devoted parents with strong family bonds, are often confined to tiny cages or killed inhumanely for their fur. PETA continues its efforts to push other brands, including LVMH, to follow OVO’s lead and end the cruel practice. For more details, visit PETA.org.

Diddy’s Legal Team To Call Escorts As Witnesses In Third Bail Hearing

Sean “Diddy” Combs is assembling a defense for his upcoming federal trial with plans to call six escorts as witnesses. The trial, set for May 2025, centers on serious charges including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. AllHipHop first reported the news on Sunday (November 24), revealing that Diddy’s legal strategy includes testimony from escorts who attended his infamous “freak-off parties.”

Currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, the 51-year-old music mogul and father of seven awaits a judge’s decision on his third bail proposal. If approved, Diddy would be required to reside in Manhattan, where he was originally arrested in September.

Diddy’s legal team intends to use the escorts’ testimonies to counter the prosecution’s allegations. According to the defense, these witnesses could challenge claims about systemic abuse facilitated through Diddy’s businesses and employees. Prosecutors, however, assert that these six individuals represent only a fraction of the witnesses involved. “Six escorts are only the beginning,” one prosecutor said, hinting at the scale of the alleged activities.

The charges against Diddy are extensive, including kidnapping, arson, bribery, drug-related offenses, and obstruction of justice. If convicted, he could face life in prison for racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion. The latter charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years, while a separate charge of transportation for purposes of prostitution could add up to 10 years to his sentence.

Adding to his legal troubles, the court is examining allegations that Diddy violated jail protocols by attempting to contact witnesses. These claims could affect his chances of securing bail before the trial.

Despite his legal battles, Diddy has reportedly remained in good spirits. He recently celebrated his birthday with his children, expressing pride in their achievements during a call. However, prosecutors have accused him of using this same call to orchestrate intimidation tactics.

As the trial approaches in the Spring of next year, Diddy’s defense team is preparing for a high-stakes battle to counter the serious accusations against the music mogul.
