Polo G’s ‘Hood Poet’ Tracklist Recruits Future, Lil Durk, GloRilla, And More For The Long Awaited Album

Following is rough several years, Polo G is ready to tell his story. After multiple delays, seemingly due to his ongoing legal battles, the “We Uh Shoot” rapper’s long-awaited album, Hood Poet, officially has a release date.

This Friday (August 9), the body of work titled after the acronym, he overcame obstacles during pain or emotional trauma, will hit streaming platforms. Today (August 6), Polo G revealed the album’s full tracklist over on Instagram. Although Polo G previously confirmed collaborations with G Herbo, 42 Dugg, Fridayy, GloRilla, Future, and more, now supporter know the name of of each respective track.

In May, one of the best and biggest rap stars from Compton announced his new album. No, not that one. YG, who has been equally beloved in his hometown for just as long, gave a preview of the cover art for his album Just Re’d Up 3 (for reference, the original Just Re’d Up came out on May 2, 2011), following up with the announcement of his Just Re’d Up Tour and a string of upbeat singles, including “Knocka,” “Weird,” and “Shake.”

Today, YG shared the tracklist for the album, which appears to be a double album. It’s also a feature-packed affair, tapping a bunch of fellow West Coast rap favorites including Kalan.Frfr, Larry June, Mozzy, and YG’s girlfriend(?), Saweetie. Ty Dolla Sign also shows up a couple of times, while non-Golden State guests include Detroiters Babyface Ray and Tee Grizzley, Chicagoan G Herbo, and Atlanta’s own Lil Yachty. Polo G’s Long-Awaited Album, ‘Hood Poet,’ Finally Has An Official Release Date After Nearly A Year Of Delays

Unfortunately, due to ongoing legal woes, Polo G hasn’t been able to fulfill a promise him made to fans back in August 2023. Well, that’s until now. After several unforeseen delays, the “Sorrys & Ferraris” rapper’s long-awaited album, Hood Poet, finally has an official release date.

Today (July 30), Polo G took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal the exciting news. “Hood Poet, August 9th,” he wrote. “The wait finally Over 🖤🖤.”

That information alone would have been sufficient. But after nearly a year of setbacks, Polo treated his followers to a bit more. “Plus, me and Smurk this Friday #weuhshoot,” he wrote.

A fresh collaboration between Lil Durk and Polo G set users online off.

“Finally getting my therapy collab, Polo G X Lil Durk yaayyyy🕺,” wrote one user.

The forthcoming single will mark the project’s forth singles, following “Barely Holdin’ On,” “Distraction,” and “Angels In The Sky.”

According to the promotional graphic, Polo G shared alongside the newly unveiled artwork, Hood Poet will feature guest appearances by GloRilla, Future, Offset, G Herbo, 42 Dugg, Hunxho, The Kid LaRoi, and Fridayy.

According to the tracklist uploaded to Apple Music, Hood Poet has a total of 18 tracks. With a release date formerly locked in, fans have one question—is a tour in the works?

G Herbo & Skilla Baby Get Active On “Shoot”

G Herbo is back once again with a new 2024 release called “Shoot”, featuring the likes of Detroit star, Skilla Baby. Over the last several months, the Chicago, Illinois native has been putting on for his hometown, dropping singles and features left and right. This year, we have seen the “PTSD” artist team up with Hotblock Jmoe, Chief Keef, 21 Lil Harold, Aarne, Kerch Dolla, and more. On the solo front, Herbo has put out “Subject”, a freestyle over BossMan Dlow’s “Get In With Me”, and now “Shoot”. With this prolific release pattern, the hope is that G Herbo delivers a new album/mixtape for 2024.

But while we wait for that, what does this Skilla Baby collaboration have to offer up? Well, to be frank, it’s sadly formulaic. The chorus from the rising talent is pretty forgettable and extremely repetitive. With a title like “Shoot” and previous knowledge of these two’s discographies, you might have a good guess as to what the song is about. While there is nothing wrong with rapping about street violence and stakeouts, the execution feels too one-note. It is cool to see Skilla Baby and Herbo work alongside each other, but the final product is just too lackluster for their standards. Still, give the song a try with the music video link below.

This is the latest offering from the Dolton, Illinois native, who is looking to stamp his name in Chicago rap history as one of the best to do it.

As we said, “FASHO” keeps the flame lit the entire way through. That is thanks to Hotblock and G Herbo bringing cutthroat bars and that Midwest, blue-collar attitude over a crisp trap instrumental. “We catch n**** lackin’, hawk ’em down, stand ovеr and over clappin’ (Come here)“. Jmoe does not let the star power of the guest deter him one bit. He holds his own and goes bar for bar, all while bringing a smooth and easy-to-hear flow.
