Don Toliver And Kali Uchis Celebrate The Birth Of Their Son: ‘You Are Everything We Could Have Hoped For’

Don Toliver is deep into the rollout of his fourth studio album Hardstone, which is shaping up to be one of his most personal projects yet. In the new video for “Deep In The Water” he released today, Toliver shares the first glimpse of his and Kali Uchis‘ son after they announced they were expecting in January.

In the video, which maintains the “motorcycle gang” aesthetic Toliver has chosen to represent his current creative direction, the Houston rapper rides his chopper down a desert highway under a chill blue filter. He also performs in a wood-paneled living room with the same filter, with rapid cuts showing off the baby’s feet and Kali holding him.

On Instagram, Kali posted a celebratory post featuring clips from the video interspersed with home video from the hospital. In the caption, she wrote, “ou are everything we could have hoped for & more. Thank you God for our beautiful healthy baby boy, & thank you all for the Good energy along the way. may our home & your homes forever be blessed with peace, happiness & health.”

Don Toliver Shares New Snippet, “VULTURES 2” Listening Event Adds More

Don Toliver just dropped “Bandit” last month, and with a new previewed track, it seems like he’s got a lot more coming. Moreover, new snippets emerged from his social media accounts that are circulating online over his next song “Deep In The Water,” which will reportedly come out next Friday (March 15) and features his boo Kali Uchis amid some pretty visuals. Sonically, the teased portions are pretty moody and deeply trap and sultry R&B-inspired, as expected from the Cactus Jack artist. His previous single was more of a hard-hitter, so whatever this woozy direction is, it seems like it will be well-balanced.

Not only that, but Don Toliver also appeared in one of the many tracks, both old and new, that Ye and Ty Dolla $ign played at their recent VULTURES 2 listening event. The track reportedly goes by “VENOM / FIELD TRIP” and also features Playboi Carti and Lil Durk. From what these short clips indicated, it looks to be another banger with his soaring vocals taking up much of the space in it. Whether or not the album will drop soon is another story, but it’s definitely in the cards and will likely please fans whenever it lands.

Will Don Toliver’s New Album Come Out In 2024?

It looks like Don Toliver is already working on a follow-up to his 2023 album Love Sick. 2024 figures to be a big year for the Houston rapper; last month, girlfriend Kali Uchis revealed she’s pregnant with couple’s first child, and today, Toliver dropped the video for his new single, “Bandit.” In the rock-inspired clip, Toliver plays the role of a biker in a gang called “Hardstone MC,” riding his chopper through the desert and throwing a grungy house party with a bevy of leather-clad revelers.

The single looks like the prelude to a full album, also possibly titled Hardstone. Shortly after releasing the video, Toliver updated his profile pic on Twitter to the Hardstone MC logo, then posted the single cover with the message “Album Soon.”

While “soon” is a pretty vague descriptor, it does seem to suggest that the album will be out sometime this year, just one year after the release of Love Sick and possibly before or after becoming a father. Of course, the fact that he is about have daddy duties may complicate his projected release schedule, but in all likelihood, he’s already factored those responsibilites into his plan. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Just a month after the “Drugs N Hella Melodies” music video dropped, the rapper confirmed that he was indeed in a relationship with Uchis. Speaking to Maxine Wally of W Magazine, he said, “We’re not crazy public or nothing like that. We just vibe.” When asked about when he and Uchis met, Toliver refused to spill that tea.
