DL Hughley Thinks That Jay-Z Allegations Should’ve Been Expected Amid Diddy Drama

The explosive allegations against Jay-Z lit a fire under hip-hop culture that hadn’t been felt since… Well, Diddy faced his initial onslaught of lawsuits and accusations a year ago. For those unaware, a Jane Doe accused both men of sexually assaulting her at a VMAs after party in 2000 when she was 13 years old. But DL Hughley doesn’t seem to be as shocked as everyone else is, although it might not be for the reasons you expect. The comedian recently stopped by VladTV with DJ Vlad for an interview, and naturally, they eventually addressed the topic with some strong reflections.

“But, to be honest,” DL Hughley’s remarks on the Jay-Z and Diddy allegations began. “Nobody believed that this wouldn’t touch a lot of very famous people, right? This whole milieu we find ourselves in, [that it] wouldn’t touch a lot of famous people. And all I can say when I saw it is, I didn’t go to none of those parties. No. It never appealed to me. I’m not saying that everybody who did go was wrong. But I’m glad I ain’t got a lawyer asking me to get my story together.”

DL Hughley Speaks On Jay-Z & Diddy Allegations

Elsewhere, DL Hughley compared Diddy’s currently tanking reputation to Jay-Z’s, who has received a lot more industry support defending his reputation. While Hughley still wouldn’t put it past anyone, he also made a comment about how these moves – plus previous takedowns of R. Kelly and Bill Cosby – have taken down the 1990s decade in popular culture. In addition, he also commended Hov’s response to the allegations and posited that everyone deserves the presumption of innocence in these cases until proven otherwise.

Overall, it seems like DL Hughley wants to see everything play out in court before making a strong judgement call, as Diddy made the same denial of wrongdoing that Jay-Z did. Of course, the Sean Combs situation quickly proved to be much more different thanks to that video of him assaulting Cassie that leaked earlier this year. With a whole lot to anticipate in 2025 and surely more legal developments on the way, we can expect hip-hop and pop culture at large to continue discussing this heavily.

Lil Durk Accused Of Conspiring To Take Out Witnesses In His Murder Case

Lil Durk continues to face bad news in his federal case for alleged murder-for-hire conspiracy, which now has two cases to deal with. The first concerns the shooting of Lul Pab in what was allegedly a targeted attack on Quando Rondo in Los Angeles in retaliation for King Von’s murder. The second – and most recently revealed one – concerns the 2022 murder of Stephon Mack, which police believe was in retaliation for the murder of Durk’s brother Dontay “DThang” Banks. However, this last case is not something that the Chicago rapper received an official charge for yet, and the case remains open.

Now, alleged legal filings reportedly obtained by AllHipHop provide more details as to the prosecution’s claims against Lil Durk. Authorities accused him of offering payments to eliminate witnesses and individuals tied to this open 2022 case, including a witness’ family member. In this case, 24-year-old Gangster Disciples member Stephon Mack was fatally shot in Chicago in January of 2022. Smurk’s legal team hasn’t responded to these new allegations at press time, but they denied any and all wrongdoing at the onset of this case.

“Lil Durk’s modus operandi is clear,” prosecutors claimed in court documents. “He will use his power, his money, and his influence […] to endanger anyone who he perceives as a threat, including witnesses in this case.” In addition, they also alleged that these bounties came into effect via intermediaries despite Durk’s incarceration and public scrutiny. Apparently, these revelations in these newly obtained court filings contributed to a federal judge’s denial of bond for The Voice, but it’s unclear whether the defendant will continue in his efforts to secure bail.

Meanwhile, though, some other updates in Lil Durk’s life are much more heartening, which probably balances out some of his stronger challenges. Primarily, we’re talking about how he reportedly secretly married his longtime partner India Royale, who continues to show him a lot of support amid this legal drama. Hopefully they can one day enjoy their partnership outside of the repercussions of all these situations. After all, it seems like there are even more challenges on the way in the courtroom.

6ix9ine Reportedly Released From Prison After Violating Probation

Few rappers have had such extensively covered and explosive run-ins with the law as 6ix9ine, and now he has a chance to right that wrong once and for all. For those unaware, he was recently in jail for violating the terms of his parole, which stems from his original implication in the RICO case against the Nine Trey Bloods gang. The New York artist is reportedly now free again as of Thursday (December 12), but he has a lot of conditions to meet if he wants to stay out. He’s got a probation extension of a year, a home-stay order and electronic monitoring, the requirement of a full-time and lawful job, home address restrictions, and many other terms.

At least 6ix9ine is out and can begin work on his reformation without the pressures of prison, as his stay in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn came with its own controversies. Of course, this is sadly nothing new for him, as he always pops up in the headlines for some legal trouble. Maybe this will be the final straw in that long-running series, especially as career opportunities seem slim.

6ix9ine Is Reportedly Out Of Prison

Furthermore, as part of 6ix9ine’s new probation conditions, it seems like he will have to step away from the mic. Since one of these terms requires a full-time and lawful job on top of so many other restrictions, it seems like a music career is out of the cards. Maybe he can find a way to loop around this presumed interpretation, which shouldn’t be too hard to explain in legal terms. But nevertheless, we doubt that the court would feel comfortable with that level of visibility and exposure, especially as it hasn’t really helped the debacle so far.

Regardless, 6ix9ne did promise to stay “squeaky clean” when he signed a new deal with Kartel Records, and that was before all this probation hassle. Perhaps that merely interrupted his process rather than reflecting its shakiness, so the benefit of the doubt could yield some positive results now that he’s out. Or, on the other hand, it means that Tekashi will have to work that much harder to prove himself right.

Tory Lanez Reveals Surprising Regret In New Verse Aimed At Megan Thee Stallion & Kylie Jenner

Tory Lanez has been releasing a lot of music as part of his Lost Tapes series, but he’s also even offered some verses from behind bars. Moreover, he recently featured on DDG’s track “HANDLING BUSINESS,” on which he made some pretty interesting remarks in the eyes of fans. “The only one thing I regret on that night, is jumping up outta the pool with Kylie,” Tory raps on the cut, seemingly referencing the night of the Megan Thee Stallion shooting, which took place outside of Kylie Jenner’s party. The court convicted him of the crime, and although that saga is not over, he’s also looking forward to moving past it.

Referencing the debacle on wax probably won’t help much in that area, though. Regardless, there’s so much going on that it probably wouldn’t do much to stop the narrative even if it did outwardly ask to move past it. For example, Megan Thee Stallion recently accused Tory Lanez of conspiring with Milagro Gramz to spread misinformation about their case. “In one phone call, [Tory and his father] confidently asserted that [Megan] would be unable to prove that [Tory] paid Defendant for attacking [Megan],” her lawyers reportedly alleged.

Tory Lanez Speaks On Megan Thee Stallion & Kylie Jenner In New Song

However, it looks like Megan Thee Stallion and Milagro Gramz will have to mediate in order to resolve their legal issue regarding the Tory Lanez case, as the court ordered a compromise. “Rather than rebut the allegations online, Plaintiff chose to use the Courts to intimidate and silence the Defendant from exercising her First Amendment rights to publish her opinions and beliefs,” Gramz’s legal team alleged. “And also to serve as a warning to other critics that if the Plaintiff does not like what you say about her, you will likely have to deal with a federal lawsuit.”

Meanwhile, amid more new music from Tory Lanez, we’re sure we haven’t heard the end of these Megan Thee Stallion reflections. Still, it’s interesting for him to bring up the situation with Kylie Jenner as a whole, as he might consider a more big-picture perspective these days. No matter what these individuals in this situation express, fans will likely continue to fight over it for months to come.

Lil Durk Denied Bond Request Despite $3.3 Million Proposal Deal

Lil Durk will not be a free man anytime soon. The rapper has been charged with murder-for-hire, and scheduled for a trial in 2025. His lawyers proposed a motion for his release on December 12, as a means of securing his freedom until the trial starts. Unfortunately for Durk, the request was denied by a federal judge. To make matters worse, Lil Durk was linked to a second murder-for-hire case that allegedly took place in his native Chicago in 2022.

The bond information was provided by Chicago Tribune reporter Jason Meisner. He provided updates on the Lil Durk case Thursday. He claimed that the rapper’s attorneys proposed a sizable $3.3 million bond, which was split between two sources. The first $2.3 million was from equity on two of Lil Durk’s homes in Georgia. The remaining $1 million was to be a cash sum from the rapper’s label, Sony Music. A statement detailing Durk’s recent accomplishments was also submitted. “He has demonstrated a genuine resolve,” the statement asserted. “To publicly advocate for improving underserved communities and stopping the violence.”

Lil Durk Was Linked To Second Murder-For-Hire Case

Despite the large sum, the motion was denied. Lil Durk’s attorney, Jonathan Brayman, voiced his disappointment to the Chicago Tribune soon after. He did, however, assure the rapper’s fans that they will continue to fight. “We were obviously disappointed, but will continue to fight on,” Brayman told the outlet. “[He] remains confident and optimistic about the future. He deeply appreciates the outpouring of love and support he has felt since his arrest.” The attorney may be confident, but the second murder-for-hire allegation does not look good for the rapper.

The second murder-for-hire case allegedly took place on January 27, 2022. Lil Durk is alleged to have sanctioned the shooting of Stephon Mack, on West 111th Street in Chicago. The FBI claims that the 24 year old Mack was the leader of the Smashville sect of the Gangster Disciples. The prosecution notes that Lil Durk’s brother, Dontay Banks, was shot and killed the year prior. A warrant application for Banks’ death state that a member of the Gangster Disciples carried out the murder. Durk hasn’t been formally charged with Mack’s death. Local law enforcement informed the Tribune that the case is still open.

YSL RICO Trial Defendant Launches Class Action Lawsuit Over Fulton County Jail

Shannon Jackson, a defendant in the YSL RICO trial, has launched a class action lawsuit against Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat as well as the Chief Jailor, John Jackson, both in their official capacity only. He accuses them of “deliberate indifference to the known, excessive risks to the health and safety of detainees at Fulton County Jail… which violate the detainees’ rights under the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution.”

In the introduction section of the filing, his attorneys write: “This is an action to protect people detained in Fulton County Jail… from serious harm by the cruel and unusual conditions of confinement at Fulton County Jail,” as caught by the ThuggerDaily social media account.

At the end of the lengthy YSL RICO trial, the court acquitted Jackson of almost all charges. The jury found him not guilty of the 2015 murder of Donovan Thomas Jr., of participating in criminal street gang activity and conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations act, as well as a second murder. However, the jury found him guilty of possessing a firearm as a felon.

As for the jury’s ruling, two members spoke about their decision for an interview with Melanie Goolsby on YouTube shortly after the verdict. They said the group was able to agree that YSL is technically a gang, but they didn’t feel they constitute an “enterprise.” “Was it this whole big organized thing, or was it just a bunch of people that were affiliated with each other doing individual stuff to take care of their families or to get revenge?” she said, as caught by Meghann Cuniff. Overall, the group agreed there simply wasn’t enough evidence. “Most of the overt acts were Instagram pictures. A lot of us kind of feel like, I’m not about to put nobody in jail for, like, Instagram pictures,” she added. Check out Jackson’s class action filing above.

Lil Durk Linked To Another Alleged Murder-For-Hire Amid Prison Stay

Lil Durk is currently behind bars in Los Angeles on charges related to alleged murder-for-hire conspiracy. Now, however, it looks like he’s in for even more legal trouble. According to a new tweet from DJ Akademiks, the Chicago rapper was recently linked to yet another alleged murder-for-hire. Reportedly, this involves the 2022 murder of Stephon Mack, which authorities believe was allegedly carried out in retaliation for the 2021 murder of Durk’s brother Dontay “DThang” Banks. He’s yet to be officially charged in relation to this particular case, though he’s accused of being involved in newly unsealed legal documents.

DThang was shot and killed outside of Club O in a town outside of Chicago. He was 32 at the time of his death. Durk is already potentially facing a life sentence for his previous charges. His arrest took place shortly after five other alleged OTF affiliates were taken into custody. They’re accused of being paid to carry out the murder of Quando Rondo in retaliation for King Von’s 2020 death. In 2022, Quando Rondo and his cousin Lul Pab were targeted in a shooting at an LA gas station. Quando Rondo walked away unharmed while Lul Pab passed away as a result of his injuries.

Lil Durk has since pleaded not guilty to his charges, and prosecutors asked that he remain in jail before his trial. They called him an alleged “flight risk and a danger to the community.” His trial has been tentatively scheduled for January 7, 2025, but is “expected to be postponed,” per ABC7.

This latest update on Durk’s case arrives after his attorneys fired back at the prosecution’s claims that he allegedly referenced Lul Pab’s death in one of his songs. “When you see an artist’s rap lyrics quoted as ‘evidence’ against them,” they told TMZ Hip Hop earlier this month. “It is a glaring indication that there is no real evidence against that person.”

Rio Da Yung OG Released From Prison With Plans For A Massive “Welcome Home Concert”

Rio Da Yung OG has been released from a federal prison in Arkansas where he had been serving a 60-month sentence after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Rio will now finish the remainder of his sentence through “community confinement,” according to Pitchfork, which cites a Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesperson. He’ll be able to stay at either a halfway house or home confinement until Saturday, July 12, 2025. At that point, he’ll only need to maintain 18 more months of supervised release.

Rio had previously expressed his hope for getting an early release on his Instagram Story back in January 2021. “I’m doing 5 years for some sh*t I ain’t know was going on but I take full responsibility cause I know what comes wit this street sh*t,” he wrote at the time. “Thank you god for putting me through this situation cause it really opened my eyes and show me how to deal wit people.”

At the time, U.S. Attorney Matthew Schneider noted his minimal criminal history and respectable career during his sentencing memorandum. “It is not certain that [Rio]’s participation in this offense was easier or more lucrative than working for Chrysler, and whether the decision to enter into this conspiracy was driven by his familial relationship with one of the co-defendants, a desire to attain more street credibility for his nascent music career, or some other reason, but it has had a negative effect on his community and on [Rio] himself,” Schneider wrote.

Rio has already announced a welcome home concert in Detroit to celebrate his release from prison. It’ll take place on Saturday, January 11th with the promise of “surprise guests.” In response to Rio making the announcement on Instagram, Lil Baby popped up in the comments section to celebrate. “Straight to biznessss,” he wrote. Quando Rondo Sentenced After Pleading Guilty To Federal Drug Conspiracy Charges

In August of this year, Quando Rondo accepted a plea deal in his federal case after securing a $100K bond and landing on house arrest in late 2023. The Georgia rapper pled guilty to drug conspiracy and participating in criminal street gang activity, according to XXL. He had been facing up to 20 years behind bars. Accepting the deal shrunk his maximum sentence down to five years.

He officially received his sentence during a court hearing yesterday (December 11) in his hometown of Savannah. WJCL 22 News reports that he must spend 33 months in prison. In addition to this, he’ll spend three years on supervised release and pay a $40K fine. As part of his release conditions, he also has to undergo regular drug testing, avoid contact with gang members, and get mental health treatment. The defense was asking for 24 months, while the prosecution pushed for 37 months. Quando Rondo is required to report to prison by January 10. “I did the wrong thing, and I’m getting punished for it,” he said during the proceedings.

Quando Rondo Sentenced To 33 Months In Prison And Three Months Of Supervised Release

In an exclusive interview with WJCL 22 News, he shared plans to use his sentence as an opportunity to heal and work towards a better future. “As cr*zy as it sounds, that’s enough time to really sit down, rehabilitate myself, and come up with better plans for my family and friends,” he told the outlet. Just after accepting his plea deal this summer, he issued an apology to his family, friends, and the city of Savannah outside of the courthouse.

“I really wanna give an apology to the city of Savannah,” Quando Rondo said at the time. “I wanna give an apology to my family and friends, loved ones and most of all my daughters for taking all my family and all my loved ones through this stressful point.”

Meek Mill Slams Outlets For Coverage Of UnitedHealthcare CEO’s Death

Meek Mill has multitudes. He’s best known for being a hard-nosed rapper, but he has always tried his hand at being an advocate for various causes. He showcased an activist streak following his release from prison in 2018. Meek Mill has been especially concerned with his hometown of Philadelphia, and the gun and gang violence that has run rampant there. It was this concern that inspired Meek’s social media rant on December 11. The rapper addressed the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, and lamented the fact that inner-city deaths are given less attention.

“100 kids get murdered in my hood the press stuck on one CEO,” Meek Mill tweeted on Wednesday. “I will never get it!” The rapper then vowed to make a difference in Philadelphia, and make sure those who don’t have a voice will be heard. “When somebody put me to the challenge,” he added. “I’ll collect 1000 guns off Philadelphia street without snitching. Just helping clean my community! I ain’t come this far for off games! Only pain and growth.” Meek Mill made it clear that he wants to see an equal amount of value and attention placed on human life. Regardless of where it comes from.

Meek Mill Wants Inner-City Deaths Get Similar Coverage

Meek also lamented the fact that gun violence has made it difficult for him to enjoy his hometown. He claimed that nobody cares about “people in the hood dying.” He feels as though too many deaths go unremarked on. “I can’t even hang in Philly because it’s too many guns and I don’t wanna adapt to the habitat,” he asserted.

The rapper was not oblivious to the family of Brian Thompson, however. Meek Mill made it clear that he was saddened by the CEO’s violent murder. “Rip to that CEO too his life matters too,” he wrote in another tweet. “Never over looking the life of a human unless they’re a danger to society… I don’t know anything about no healthcare ceos except ‘CINQCARE’ because they are for us.” Meek Mill has become a bit of a punching bag online. There’s a tendency to write off what he tweets given some of the more awkward moments in his career and personal life. That said, most fans were in support of Meek’s thoughts. They felt the rapper was on the right side of this particular take.
