C-Murder Appeals Murder Conviction Again

Earlier this week, U.S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance decided to uphold C-Murder’s murder conviction in federal court, after two key witnesses recanted their testimonies. They had previously implicated the rapper, born Corey Miller, in the 2002 murder of 16-year-old Steve Thomas. He’s currently serving a life sentence for allegedly carrying out the fatal shooting, but he’s already filed an appeal.

“NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Petitioner, Corey Miller, appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit from the District Court’s decision rendered on November 14, 2023, dismissing Petitioner’s Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus. R. Doc. 14,” the appeal reads. “Additionally, Petitioner prays that this Court grant him a Certificate of Appealability.

C-Murder Continues To Fight His Conviction

In Judge Vance’s recent ruling, she claimed that C-Murder failed to “put forth clear and convincing evidence of error in the state courts’ findings of fact.” This is far from the first time his appeal has been denied, however. He’s been working to get his conviction thrown out, or to at least be granted another hearing, for the past 14 years. He was first convicted of the alleged murder in 2009. Kim Kardashian famously brought attention to his case earlier this year after working on it herself for years.

“Louisiana recently enacted a new law that provides innocent people with the ability to raise a post-conviction claim of factual innocence,” she explained in August. “Mr. Miller has raised such a claim and, like all of his prior post-conviction filings, has been denied relief without even so much as an evidentiary hearing. In light of the fact that the only witnesses have completely recanted their testimony, there is absolutely no remaining evidence against Mr. Miller. Corey Miller deserves a day in court to test the veracity of the recanted statements and to prove that he did not shoot Steve Thomas.” Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Yo Gotti And Young Dolph’s Accused Killer Get Called Out In Jay Fizzle’s New Track

Yesterday (September 28), Jay Fizzle dropped of his new track, “FREE STR8DROPP, alongside an accompanying music video. The rapper is signed to the late Young Dolph’s label, Paper Route Empire. Fans were quick to notice that Fizzle references the man accused of killing Young Dolph, Justin “Straight Drop” Johnson. It sounds like Fizzle would like Straight Drop to get released from prison, so he can see him face the punishment he thinks he deserves.

“Tell ’em free Drop / I wanna see a n***a dead, not locked,” he rhymes. Straight Drop wasn’t the only one to fall victim to a diss on the new track. Fizzle also threw a jab at Yo Gotti, who was known to have beef with Young Dolph before the rapper was shot and killed in 2021. “Y’all go tell that big head-a*s n***a Gotti he a b*tch,” Jay Fizzle says on the song.

Jay Fizzle Goes After Straight Drop, Yo Gotti On “FREE STR8DROPP”

Jay Fizzle also isn’t the only one to have called out Young Dolph’s alleged murderers on a song. Earlier this month, the late rapper’s fiancée, Mia Jaye, dedicated a emotional song to them. “How could you take a father from his family and kids / Mr. Shooter, dear Mr. Shooter, what the f**k was you thinkin’/ You done f**ked up now,” she sang in a clip.

Straight Drop also released a song of his own from behind bars last year, “No Statements.” He appears to claim he’s innocent on the track, insisting that he’s just “a rapper” while “the state say that [he’s] a paid killer.” Obviously, Paper Route Empire artists didn’t take to the track very well. “It seem like somebody giving up some statements,” Paper Route Woo said of the song. Ugly God’s New Photos Seemingly Address Murder Allegations: “Don’t Believe The Hype”

Unfortunately for his biggest fans, It’s been quite some time since Ugly God released new music. Still, the rap community was taken aback to hear the headlines brewing about him earlier this month. At the time, the “Water” hitmaker was facing accusations of fatally shooting his best friend’s dad in Gulfport, Mississippi. The incident actually took place earlier this summer, in late June. At the time, 50-year-old Renaldo Delavallade was found dead by police inside a vehicle after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Not a lot of information on the investigation has been shared, though we do know Ugly – born Royce Cornell Davison Rodriguez – was in custody and cooperating with detectives. Gossip began to spread when the late man’s family members began accusing the 26-year-old recording artist of killing their loved one. According to a police report, the weapon used to commit Delavallade’s murder was a small-calibre handgun. The weeks since the news first broke have been relatively quiet, but on Friday (August 18), Ugly God finally spoke online, sharing an interesting message along with some new photos.

Ugly God is Back Online

“A lot can happen in a year,” the Indiana native reflected in his tweet from last night. “#DontBelieveTheHype,” he added, seemingly making reference to the harrowing accusations coming out against him. In the four photos added to his post, Ugly flexes a huge pile of cash in his kitchen. He wears a Fendi sweater and a chain, and notably has a weapon in his possession. As some are mentioning in the comments on blogs, this isn’t exactly a good look considering the situation he’s in, though time will surely tell just how innocent the “One Two” hitmaker is.

As we wait to get more answers regarding Ugly God’s alleged involvement in his friend’s father’s death, hip-hop heads unfamiliar with his work are seeking out information on the embattled artist. Read our report on his come-up in the industry at the link below, and check back later for more music/pop culture news updates.
