H.E.R. Brings Her Own Twist To The Foo Fighters’ “The Glass”

H.E.R. possesses one of the most soulful and elegant voices in all of R&B. Unfortunately, her career is at a bit of a crossroads right now. What we mean by that is she has slowed down her musical production she appears to be following a trend of releasing a new album every two years. However, it seems that might not continue this year.

The only material she has put out this year was a solo single released back in May called “The Journey.” Additionally, she has been a part of a remixed single with Asake. “Lonely At The Top” dropped just a couple of days ago and there is also an acoustic version with H.E.R., too. Now, she is back to “remix” another single.

Usher’s “Best Part” Cover From Daniel Caesar & H.E.R. Is Sure To Soothe You: Watch

As one of the most iconic R&B artists of the past few decades, Usher has a lot of pressure on his shoulders. Not only is he expected to perform to high standards, but he’s also seen as a leader and a voice of counsel for the newer generation. After all, the soulful singer has a lot of experience to pass onto the next wave, one that allowed him to craft an acclaimed and opulent Las Vegas residency recently. Moreover, with his latest appearance on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge on Monday morning (October 23), he didn’t give any advice, but he did honor two of the most acclaimed contemporary artists in the genre to emerge over the past decade or so.

Furthermore, Usher covered Daniel Caesar and H.E.R.’s “Best Part,” and put together a wonderful rendition with a nine-piece band. While the full cover isn’t available on YouTube as of writing this article (which will likely change very soon), you can peep a clip of it down below. It’s quite the tender and softly passionate performance, with backing vocals and a lot of extra instrumentation to the originally guitar-reliant ballad. Rather than try to best it at its own game, he made sure to bring something to the table that the song didn’t have before, resulting in two great interpretations and not a simply diluted tribute.

Usher Covers “Best Part”: Watch

In addition, the Confessions icon also performed his recent 21 S*vage and Summer Walker-assisted single, “Good Good.” That track is pretty representative of Usher’s renaissance in these past couple of months, actually, at least when it comes to new releases. It became his first song to make the top 30 of Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in about eight years. With a Super Bowl halftime show on the way, too, we can only expect that the 45-year-old’s catalog will be inescapable in the lead-up to it- and we’re not complaining.

Meanwhile, what did you think of this rendition of “Best Part”? What other R&B classics or new favorites would you like to hear the Dallas native tackle next? However you may feel, let us know in the comments down below. As always, stick around on HNHH for the latest news and more updates on Usher.

Kendrick Lamar’s “HUMBLE.” Covered By Maneskin At Madison Square Garden

Kendrick Lamar’s “HUMBLE.” is one of the biggest rap hits of the past few years, especially coming from one of the most respected and acclaimed artists today. Its appeal is quite universal, with engaging and catchy refrains and melodies, plus some sharp bars. In fact, it’s stretching beyond genre and national boundaries, as Italian rock superstars Måneskin covered the track at their Madison Square Garden show in New York on Friday (September 22). “We cannot be the last rock band,” lead singer Damiano David remarked to the crowd before they went into their homage. “But maybe we can be the first rap band,” he added, albeit incorrectly.

Jokes aside, the cover is about as energetic and electrifying as you’d expect from a rock-centered rendition of “HUMBLE.” Driving guitars, hard-hitting drums, and anthemic vocals made Kendrick Lamar’s track translate quite well. At the very least, this is a much more respectful and appropriate nod to the rapper than another European incident involving a blackface-laden Polish karaoke competition. Hopefully more bands of various genres keep seeing the magic in the Compton MC’s music, and how it connects to any crowd.

Maneskin’s Kendrick Lamar Cover Has Them Feeling “HUMBLE.”

Of course, this shouldn’t come as much surprise to Måneskin fans, who know the group to be quite versatile. While speaking to Esquire for an interview, David explained how each member’s wide influences contribute to their aesthetics and songwriting. “Not to brag, but for us, it comes easy,” he stated. “We have four different and very strong backgrounds. Ethan and Thomas are very into rock and roll, punk, more classical, so they bring that energy. I’m very, very into mainstream music, mainstream hooks, mainstream melodies. So I bring that kind of idea, and they put steroids in what I do.”

Meanwhile, the Pulitzer Prize-winning lyricist impacts his peers in much more meaningful ways than just artistic inspiration. His Black Hippy and former TDE partner ScHoolboy Q recently gave K.Dot credit for “saving his life.” Surely, this will be far from the last cover of his music for generations to come. On that note, stay posted on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Kendrick Lamar.

Snoop Dogg & Chris Stapleton Cover “In The Air Tonight” As Monday Night Football Theme

The NFL has a new theme for Monday Night Football, and it mixes eras, genres, and fanbases to create a new anthem. Moreover, Chris Stapleton and Snoop Dogg graced fans with a cover of the iconic Phil Collins track “In The Air Tonight” on Monday (September 18). The rendition also featured Cindy Blackman Santana on drums, and made for a pretty grand and unexpected collaboration. ESPN and ABC aired it before coverage of the New Orleans Saints versus the Carolina Panthers and the Cleveland Browns versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively.

According to a press release, this will continue for all Monday Night Football games, plus ESPN‘s Week 18 Saturday Doubleheader, Super Wild Card, and its first Divisional playoff game. “It was fascinating to me to see how one song could get you in that mode to go kick some tail,” the Steelers’ Hines Ward told ESPN. “I don’t care if you are the home team [or] the away team. You are hearing that song no matter what [before the game],” the Washington Commandeers’ Terry McLaurin remarked, as well. But now for the real question: how’s the song?

“In The Air Tonight” Gets A Monday Night Football Makeover

Well, it’s just as epic and over-the-top as you would expect for Monday Night Football, and that’s by no means a diss. Chris Stapleton provides soaring and passionate vocals, doing the drama of the original Phil Collins track justice. In addition, the country star pulls off a killer guitar solo towards the end, backed up by Santana’s expressive and powerful drumming. But you might be wondering: how on Earth does Tha Doggfather fit into this? The answer is a classically smooth and cheeky verse in the middle section, something that “In The Air Tonight” had never featured.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the only big musical move from the NFL for Monday Night Football. They also tapped legendary duo Justin Timberlake and Timbaland to curate music for specific games during the season. All of this is fitting for an exciting season of great entertainment and even greater games. For more news and the latest updates on Snoop Dogg and the 2023-2024 NFL season, check back in with HNHH.

Nicki Minaj Shares “Pink Friday 2” Cover, Says It’s One Of Two

Nicki Minaj is not letting up on keeping the hype for Pink Friday 2 at astronomical levels, with new updates coming out seemingly every week. Recently, the Queen released her first single specifically part of this new album’s rollout, “Last Time I Saw You.” Moreover, the pop fusion cut’s been heavy in fan rotation since its release, and this plus the project’s title hints at a revitalization of what makes her such a unique voice in music. Die-hards probably thought that this would be enough to carry them home to the LP’s November 2023 release date. However, given that Nicki is always looking to one-up herself, they have never been happier to be so wrong.

Furthermore, Nicki Minaj just unveiled the album cover for Pink Friday 2. Not only that, but the Trinidadian MC also revealed that it’s one of two album covers, and we assume that this is the main one for use on streaming services. Maybe it isn’t, but either way, it’s exciting to see that she’s going to take advantage of a lot of different artwork and mediums to express this new phase. After all, if Travis Scott can release five different covers for UTOPIA‘s physical releases, why shouldn’t the Barb have her fun, too?

Nicki Minaj Unveils One Of Two Album Covers For Pink Friday 2

What’s more is that even rumors and unconfirmed assumptions are hyping fans up wildly on social media. For example, while celebrating her latest single going number one on iTunes in 37 different countries, the 40-year-old hinted at something special for next year. “Giving a big virtual hug to all these countries,” Nicki Minaj tweeted. “Omg can’t wait to see you guys on TOUR next year. #LastTimeISawYou seems like it was decades ago~ and seeing some of you for the first time ever.”

Meanwhile, now the question is what else she’ll energize fans with when it comes to Pink Friday 2. There might be feature announcements, promo opportunities, more snippets, and a whole slew of other possibilities. Even if she decides to stay low-key until the album drops, there’s enough anticipation to fuel a rocketship. On that note, stay logged into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Nicki Minaj.

Drake Unveils “For All The Dogs” Album Cover, Drawn By His Son Adonis

It looks like we might be getting For All The Dogs this week all along, and fans are ecstatic at the news. Moreover, Drake just shared the cover art for his highly anticipated new album on Instagram, further fueling rumors that it’s right around the corner. Not only that, but he also revealed that the artwork has a special meaning and marks an important milestone in the 6 God’s life. None other than his own son Adonis drew the project’s cover, which is just about the most wholesome collaboration you could get between a musician and an artist. Even though it’s a simple image, die-hards are already speculating as to what vibes it’ll represent musically.

Furthermore, the cover is an outline of an animal- probably a dog, obviously, but vague and unique enough to be open to interpretation- on a black background. The outline’s filled out by imperfect white strokes, and the four-legged and long-eared creature’s only defining features are its menacing red eyes. As such, this hints at a harder, more aggressive, or downright scary sound from Drake this time around. Previous reports, though, indicated that we might get the old Drizzy on this project with a more R&B-oriented focus.

Drake’s For All The Dogs Cover

Regardless, we’re sure that For All The Dogs will follow the rest of Drake’s discography quite fittingly. If it’s more R&B-based, then it would mark a stark difference from his previous dance outing (Honestly, Nevermind) and his trap-rooted collaboration with 21 S*vage (Her Loss). On the other hand, fans still want more of the gritty and boisterous OVO boss material that projects like the latter exemplified so well. Either way, it’s exciting to know that we’re officially closer to the album’s release than we’ve ever been.

Meanwhile, amid a highly successful tour run, this seems like the perfect time to give fans some new material. In addition, he just broke the record for the rapper with the most monthly listeners in Spotify’s history, which Travis Scott had set just days ago. We’re sure that there are only more great things to come for the Canadian superstar, Adonis, and all their proverbial “dogs.” Log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Drake and For All The Dogs.

Teezo Touchdown Shares Cover & Release Date For New Album

Teezo Touchdown is without a doubt one of the most exciting artists working today, with so much vibrance, creativity, and versatility as a rapper, singer, and writer. While he’s gained a lot of fans in the past few years, there’s nothing like a new album to open up the gates for further stardom. Moreover, the Texas native recently announced the release date for his next project, How Do You Sleep At Night?, and shared its cover art. The new LP is scheduled to release on Friday, September 8, and it follows great singles like “5 O’Clock.” If you’ve never heard of Teezo before, join the Rid the Mid campaign and check him out before this drop.

Furthermore, the album’s cover art shows about four different versions of the metal-haired creative laying down on a bed in black-and-white. He seems to be wearing a mesh shirt on the cover, and didn’t remove the nails from his long hair before saying night-night. It’s quite a trippy image, with all the Teezo Touchdown depictions blurring into each other in trippy fashion. Overall, it’s an evocative and eye-catching image that hopefully represents the imaginative and genre-blurring talents that the 30-year-old proved to channel time and time again.

Teezo Touchdown’s How Do You Sleep At Night? Dropping On September 8

What’s more is that this seems like the perfect time to become a Teezo Touchdown fan if you’re not one already. Many listeners got their introduction to him thanks to “MODERN JAM,” a highlight off of Travis Scott’s massive new album UTOPIA. Teezo’s feature on that cut is reminiscent of André 3000’s acrobatic vocal inflections, with his own original charisma and vocal talents on full display. Maybe it’s a hot take, but he might just be the best feature on the whole project, because when has a Travis song ever had the energy that Teezo brought to the table?

Meanwhile, there are plenty of singles for you to enjoy and catch up on before How Do You Sleep At Night? drops. This will be a big year for him, and one that will likely put him at the forefront of chameleon-like musicians. Hopefully the album lives up to the hype. For more news and the latest updates on Teezo Touchdown, keep checking in with HNHH.

Chloe Bailey’s “fukumean” Gunna Cover Makes Her Akademiks’ Latest Target: “This S**t Trash”

Of the hip-hop bloggers creating content today, DJ Akademiks is perhaps best known for feuding with those he reports on. We’ve seen him take aim at various figures in the industry throughout his career. Lately, it’s been Yung Miami and Lil Baby feeling the heat. More recently, Chloe Bailey is on his mind too. The latter covered Gunna’s hit song “fukumean,” for her followers earlier this week. Now, Ak thinks she’s sliding into the YSL artist’s life since he’s out of jail and has a new album.

“You dipped on that ni**a soon as that ni**a got locked up,” the Off the Record host’s bizarre rant began. “I ain’t gon’ call you the b-word, ‘cuz I heard you down with Beyonce. I don’t want them getting mad at me,” he added. “Man, as soon as she thought Gunna was not coming back home, she was single. Single as a motherf**ker. I watched her in some s**t called ‘Swarm,’ getting her BACK BLOWN OUT,” Akademiks continued, referencing Bailey’s first-ever intimate scene opposite Damson Idris in Donald Glover’s series.

Akademiks Thinks Chloe Bailey is Wrong for Covering a Gunna Song

“Why wasn’t you on the jail call singing this s**t to that ni**a?” Akademiks asked, despite “fukumean” not being out. “Y’all remember when Gunna was looking like a crackhead in jail?” he continued to yell while pulling up old photos of the embattled lyricist. Elsewhere, Ak went on to accuse Bailey of always singing other people’s songs before falsely claiming her debut album only sold 3,000 units in its first week. He also said that he doesn’t understand the hype about Chloe, but couldn’t help but admit she is an attractive young woman.

Her In Pieces album’s first-week sales may not have satisfied Akademiks, but they’re good enough for the Atlanta-born singer to take her debut solo project out on two separate tours. She wrapped up the first round of dates back in the spring, and a few weeks ago, Chloe Bailey confirmed her second round of In Pieces concerts, taking place across North America this fall. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Chloe Bailey Covers Hit Gunna Song In New Video

Chloe Bailey’s raw vocal talent is something that has consistently impressed her fans throughout her entire career. Now, in a new video she posted to Twitter she is once again showing off her vocal chops. In the video she delivers an amazing performance of Gunna’s hit song “fukumean.” Unsurprisingly, fans in the comments were eating it up. “maybe he’ll add you to the remix ” reads one of the top comments under the post. “Oh you ate that up, we need an official remix like ASAP!” says another. The video has already racked up over 16k likes less than two hours after she originally posted it.

The cover comes just a few days after the song reached a new peak on the Hot 100. After debuting in the top 20 “fukumean” has climbed all the way up to number 4 on the chart. This week it’s the highest-charting non-country song in the entire Hot 100. It also matches Gunna’s previous high, with his Lil Baby collab “Drip Too Hard” having also reached number 4 back in 2018. The decision to cover this song in particular is also relevant to some relationship drama dating back to last year. For a short time, fans speculated on a potential romance between the two. While Chloe eventually came forward to confirm their suspicions, it was only because the relationship had already ended.

Chloe Bailey Takes On “fukumean”

Last week Chloe Bailey treated fans to the newest in a long-running series of stunning Instagram posts. This time she was seen enjoying some sun in what looked like an absolute paradise laying in a hammock and drinking from a coconut. Unsurprisingly, she had some bikini pics that left fans completely stunned.

The video also comes just a few days ahead of her sister’s debut solo single. After Chloe released her own solo album In Pieces earlier this year, Halle is up next. She announced in a tweet on Monday that her debut single “Angel” is coming later this week. What do you think of Chloe Bailey’s cover of Gunna’s “fukumean”? Let us know in the comment section below.
