Joe Budden Draws Backlash For His Domestic Violence Comments & His Past Accusations

Joe Budden doesn’t just give out hot takes on hip-hop: he also speaks on wider societal issues, for better or worse. Moreover, he recently sat down with the BagFuel podcast to speak on his perspective on domestic violence and abusive relationships, particularly when it relates to a man suffering from them. However, many folks online pointed out that the rapper and media personality has his own history when it comes to allegations of perpetrating these crimes. Nevertheless, he spoke from his own perspective and viewpoint when it comes to his struggles with toxic partnerships, addressing the dangers of gender standards regardless of how folks will respond to his point of view.

“I was in a domestic violence relationship, but we men, so we don’t know that,” Joe Budden posited. “We don’t know that if somebody just gets up and starts [saying], ‘Hey, you got a text I didn’t like. I’m burning all your clothes.’ That’s domestic violence… I had an incident one time where me and a lady broke up, and I took the phone back that I bought and was actively paying the bill for. Charges. Charges brought up. I didn’t know that [was stealing] so that was a lesson like, ‘Oh, okay. If there’s a dispute, you can’t tough the phone, even if you bought or got it.’”

Regarding Joe Budden’s accusations, his ex-partner Esther Baxter claimed that he caused her to have a miscarriage by allegedly sitting on her stomach during an altercation. Also, his ex Tahiry Jose called him out for supposed hypocrisy when he condemned the video of Diddy assaulting Cassie. “FOH, who??? The irony. This is so triggering!!!” she expressed on social media. “I remember joey throwing me down a flight of stairs dragging me back into the house & me having to talk him into letting me go. FOR HOURS!!!!

Ryan Garcia Expelled From World Boxing Council After Racist Twitter Rant

Ryan Garcia shocked social media this week with a racist Twitter rant that mocked George Floyd’s death, the Israel-Palestine conflict, and included multiple disparaging remarks and slurs against African Americans, Muslims, and other discriminated groups. Moreover, the World Boxing Council, one of four major organizations that sanction professional boxing bouts, announced his expulsion from the group on Thursday (July 4). “Exercising my authority as president of the WBC, I am hereby expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organization,” Mauricio Sulaiman stated. “We reject any form of discrimination. I fear for Ryan well being [sic]. He has declined multiple attempts for our help with mental health and substance abuse.”

“I was trolling I want all the killing to stop,” Ryan Garcia expressed on social media as an apology after his remarks. “I love everyone sorry if I offended you.” This is a pretty rough year so far for him, as the New York State Athletic Commission banned him from boxing for a year due to testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs for his recent fight with Devin Haney. We don’t know what else will come of this development, but we hope that there aren’t more antics in its wake. After all, it seems like the last thing the controversial boxer needs right now.

Fans are still mourning the death of Foolio following a shooting at his birthday celebrations, but that’s been a very strange process so far. Moreover, that’s thanks to his Instagram account, which has still been active and posting stuff since his passing, leading many to believe wild conspiracy theories about him faking this tragedy. This latest post adds more speculative gas to that fire. “THE LIFE OF A DEMI GOD [purple devil emoji],” the account posted on its Story, showing someone (presumably the Florida rapper himself) flexing their jewelry. “You can NEVER KILL A DEMI GOD [purple devil emoji]. The power of VOODOO is real and the WORLD will be shocked VERY SOON mark these words. KNOW MOMMY.”

In addition, Foolio’s Instagram account also recently commented on a post featuring his alleged killer, and its language ties back to this most recent Story post. “Demi God [purple devil emoji],” the account commented. “I ain’t going nowhere, I’m a demigod. You can’t get me,” he had said during a No Jumper interview earlier this year, and he even captioned an IG repost of this clip with the caption: “I’ll Never Die I’m a DemiGod.”

“My grandma does VOODOO,” Foolio’s Instagram account captioned a video post featuring an old WWE wrestling match and a video of him rapping in a vehicle. “He’s here, going to shock the world when the time is right. Game over?? The game just begun,” it continued. It seems like many of these posts were promptly deleted, so either these are hacks that his team is following up on or there are some very bizarre choices and developments behind the scenes. Either way, it’s a very spooky social media presence that many fans see as disrespectful, disturbing, and distressing.

Of course, another part of Foolio’s online presence since his death has been the attacks that Yungeen Ace sent his way after the shooting. This resulted in a while lot of controversy as well, especially with some scathing diss tracks and videos. But this hacking or revival narrative definitely takes precedent now as the most odd thing to emerge out of all this. Hopefully all this slows down and we can let him rest in peace.

Angela Simmons Issues Second Apology For Gun Purse At BET Awards

Angela Simmons has had a rough 48 hours. The reality star turned heads at the BET Awards when she brought a bedazzled gun purse onto the red carpet. She not only showed off the gun purse, but posed with it as though it was actually a gun. She aimed it at photographers, which didn’t go over well, to say the least. Simmons was criticized for her fashion choice, and tried to quiet the situation by issuing an apology video. Evidently, the reality felt that more needed to be said.

Angela Simmons posted a lengthy written apology to Instagram on July 1. She explained her reasoning for bringing out the gun purse, and acknowledged why it may not have been a great idea in retrospect. “I deeply regret that this item, which symbolizes a gun, was inappropriate and insensitive,” she wrote over a black background. “Especially given my personal and community experiences with gun violence.” She claimed that she merely intended for the purse to “amplify” her beauty, but now views the accessory as a “bad decision.”

Simmons didn’t stop there. She then detailed the ways in which gun violence has impacted her life. “I have personally lost my partner, the father of my child, to gun violence,” she added. “I have witnessed its devastating impact on my community in Southeast Queens.” From there, Angela Simmons listed the ways in which she has fought gun violence. “My work with Erica Ford,” she explained. “And my own organization that creates programs to reduce gun violence and helps those directly impacted by the pandemic, have always been about making peace a lifestyle.”

The reality star wrapped up her statement by restating her apology. “I ask for your understanding and forgiveness,” she wrote. “And I hope that you can accept my sincere apology.” She referred to the gun purse as a “misstep” and promised that she would not let it impact the positive work she’s done. “I will not allow it to define my moral compass,” she subsequently wrote. “Or my commitment to promoting peace and ending gun violence.”

Kanye West is facing yet another lawsuit and this one went against him and his former chief of staff Milo Yiannopoulos in U.S. District Court, according to new legal documents reportedly obtained by TMZ. Moreover, it accuses them of subjecting their employees to “forced labor and cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment,” specifically those that formed part of the YZYVSN development team. For those unaware, that’s an app that Ye wanted to use to distribute VULTURES 1 and future installments instead of using streaming services like Spotify, and he also planned a porn venture that apparently is now scrapped. Regardless, he and Yiannopoulos allegedly abused their power over this development team in a very exploitative manner.

Furthermore, Kanye West and his former chief of staff hired an international developer group of various Black tech wizzes, a few of which were as young as 14 years old. The lawsuit accuses Ye and his colleague of falsely promising payment for these employees, forcing excessively long shifts through the night with no pay, and engaging in racist jabs and demeaning rhetoric. For example, they allegedly called some employees “new slaves,” a reference to the Chicago artist’s 2013 Yeezus track and a horrible way to treat your co-workers. According to court documents, this development team mostly worked remotely via platforms like Zoom and Slack.

Then, in April of 2024 (about a month into the possible YZYVSN launch), Milo Yiannopoulos allegedly promised to pay the team $120K. This would be after they completed the app’s development and under the condition of both no complaints and full agreement concerning work conditions. Kanye West allegedly demanded NDAs from all of them and threatened to fire and not pay them if they didn’t sign, which complicated things. Minor developers had to sign “volunteer” agreements, according to court docs. In addition, white managers overseeing the operation would allegedly disparage employees with racist remarks and other attacks on their identity, such as Yiannopoulos sending a Black team member a Black emoji and calling a younger employee a school shooter.

Meanwhile, another bombshell claim concerns the inception of “Yeezy Porn” in late April of 2024, which Yiannopoulos actually resigned over. Kanye West’s wife Bianca Censori allegedly sent someone in the app development team a file-sharing link with hardcore adult content, which the minors were allegedly not shielded from viewing. However, it’s important to note that Censori is not a defendant in this case. On May 1, the team allegedly showed one of the finished apps to Ye, although it’s unclear which one, and the lack of payment is what led to this lawsuit. The team seeks damages for unpaid wages, overtime pay, and emotional distress. At press time, no public response has emerged.

Moreover, the firm reportedly represents many music industry titans, and if this report is true, likely cut ties with him due to his various accusations and lawsuits concerning sexual assault, abuse, and sex trafficking. However, apparently this decision manifested at the request of another one of GSM&S’ clients, Lady Gaga. “Lady Gaga said she was leaving [the firm] if they didn’t drop Diddy. And she’s too big to lose,” an alleged insider told the publication.

Furthermore, this comes amid other news that the city of Miami has canceled its “Diddy Day.” Back to this specific case, Sean Combs allegedly knows Allen Grubman and was with GSM&S for over two decades. The firm reportedly involved itself in various successful stadium runs and catalog sales over the years with massive industry players like The Weeknd, Lil Nas X, and more. At press time, neither the Bad Boy mogul’s team nor representatives from the firm have publicly responded to these claims.

For those unaware, Hov said that Oschino’s idea that he refused to stick up for Sigel in court is a lie, but his former colleague thinks that either the Roc Nation boss himself is lying or that the podcaster has something up his sleeve. Flav took to Twitter on Sunday (June 9), to defend the Houston rapper and to call for more humane treatment of artists.

Still, one argument that seems particularly divisive online concerns the question of whether or not she’s an “arena artist,” a notion that Charlamagne Tha God disagrees with. Sure, maybe it’s not as consistent as other acts, but look at any footage from this trek and you will see spectacles and crowds fit for massive platforms.

Whether or not he will continue his fandom for Megan Thee Stallion as he has as a Swiftie is another question entirely.
