Nicki Minaj Blasts Industry For Weak State Of Female Hip-Hop, Jess Hilarious Responds

Nicki Minaj recently stirred up a firestorm by speaking on the current state of female hip-hop, one she feels quite disappointed by. Moreover, she recently called out the music industry for, in her opinion, signing female rappers with subpar rapping ability in order to replace her. Of course, the Trinidadian MC has a lot to say on this subject and has plenty of good reason to right now, if only for the fact that she’s promoting her new album Pink Friday 2. On that album she also tears into other femcees and the hip-hop game as a whole, so she’s just relaying what she already spit. But the 41-year-old definitely ruffled some feathers here and spoke on people who don’t know music being authorities on it, addressing a topic that is much bigger than just her.

“Rap should sound like f***ing rap!” Nicki Minaj exploded while on air on a radio program. “That’s y’all f***ing problem, and that’s why all of the record labels– not all, but some– are scrambling so bad because they about to go f***ing bankrupt. ‘Cause they was trying so bad to replace this one b***h. When you water something down, you lose the quality, which then loses the investors and investments. ‘Cause it’s not bringing back any profit.

“And that is why people who do not understand rap are judging rap,” Nicki Minaj continued. “Why? It’s because, the same way y’all used to get mad and say, ‘Hm, who’s actually voting for the Grammys?’ Well, guess what? You have no idea? Most people voting for most awards don’t listen to that kind of music that they’re voting for. Most people speaking on music don’t actually listen to the kind of music they’re speaking on.”

JJ Redick On Zion Williamson: “He’s Still Not In Shape”

After a 133-89 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA’s In-Season Tournament, everyone’s got something to say about Zion Williamson. Moreover, many folks within the basketball world, whether it’s fans, commentators, analysts, or fellow players, criticized his 13-point, 3-rebound performance. While these are never easy critiques to handle as a professional athlete, many of them come from a place of love, admiration, and hope. Everyone knows how good Zion is, especially former teammates like JJ Redick, who expressed his thoughts on the matter on Friday’s (December 8) edition of NBA Today. During his remarks, he expressed belief in the fact that the young North Carolina forward has always faced these issues, but expressed even more hope that he can overcome them.

“I was disappointed, and overall, I’ve been disappointed in Zion this season,” JJ Redick remarked. “We can certainly point to counting stats and say he’s having a fine season, but you can be in the building, you can watch on TV, you can be courtside and you can see he’s not in shape. Saucy Santana’s recent comments during a dating show segment seemed to contradict his inclusive artistry. Moreover, he remarked on how they were bringing him girls that didn’t have a BBL or makeup on, and that he was dissatisfied with this. It prompted a wave of backlash and criticism, especially given the positivity and message attached to his art and persona. As such, the City Girls collaborator went on TikTok to address the issue and clarify his stance. “I think when it comes down to being a bad b***h, to me, I like super glam girls,” he expressed. “Barbies. I remember growing up as a kid, and I would get shooed out the room.

Lil Yachty caught a lot of flack recently when he came out and said that hip-hop was in a terrible place. Overall, these were comments that got a lot of people upset and understandably so. Yachty has been critical of the genre before, and a lot of people don’t appreciate the things he has said. Of course, this would be a bit of a misinterpretation of things as Yachty still puts out hip-hop tracks in abundance.

Essentially, Yachty is looking at the fact that hip-hop is no longer the number-one genre in the world. Instead, country and Latin music have surpassed it in terms of sales. This comes after a decade of chart dominance for the genre. Yachty even referenced the time Ebro came out and said that record execs were giving hip-hop artists less money. Essentially, Yachty is looking at this purely from a budget and numbers perspective. As for the art itself, Yachty does believe some have gotten too comfortable with their sound which has led to fatigue from listeners.

D.L. Hughley Says King Harris’ Outburst Was “Insulting”

This past holiday weekend was maybe a bit up and down for T.I. and his family. He brought his loved ones out to the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons game. It turned out to be a good one, with both vying for possession of first place in the NFC South. The Falcons would emerge victorious, certainly making T.I. a happy camper. However, a family feud went down during the game and it has gone quite viral since it happened on Sunday, November 26. It was recorded on Instagram Live so a ton of eyeballs saw it, including comedian D.L. Hughley.

Another celebrity who caught wind of it was Charleston White. He shared his thoughts on it like he always does with everything that is trending. “God damn it, I told T.I. he should kicked that boy’s a** last year. If T.I. woulda kicked that boy’s a** last year, that boy wouldn’t have had to jack him up today. You had that boy showing out at the Falcon game and embarrassing the family.”

Now, Doja has finally taken some action to rid herself of the haters. “everyone lost their privileges for commenting except for people i follow. also atlanta is my fav,” she captioned a new series of photos. The pictures themselves show some highlights from a recent tour stop in Atlanta. But the highlight of the post is Doja’s decision to let only people she follows comment on it. The move is common among stars dealing with some controversy. Just a few weeks ago Justin Timberlake was forced to turn his Instagram comments off entirely while dealing with backlash from Britney Spear’s new memoir.

When there is a big headline a lot of people will feel inclined to chime in and give their two cents. Especially, when there are a vast amount of ways to dissect and analyze it. One of the hottest topics, albeit more serious than what is trending, is the downfall of Diddy and Cassie’s relationship. If you have not been keeping up with it, some rumblings began around late September. Cassie’s new man, Alex Fine, who is a personal trainer, took some shots at the rap mogul’s sexuality.

While it was nothing too ground-shaking, it was still something to keep a bookmark on. Then, on November 16, the true bombshell dropped. Cassie filed a lawsuit against her ex for sexual assault and physical abuse. Over the past few weeks, things have continued to snowball as the situation gets messier and messier by the day. A lot of celebrities, especially 50 Cent have taken aim at the billionaire. However, Texas rapper Slim Thug seems to be blaming Cassie for not taking action when things first started to turn sour. He believes that she was never truly in peril and is looking for money. That elicited fans to clap back and say it is not easy to just speak up and get the authorities involved.

They certainly have a valid argument. Thug has had this thought process before and Cassie’s supporters are fed up with it. The rapper sort of walked back his comments saying he has no hate toward Cassie, he was merely giving his opinion. He says he is not running from anybody and is willing to listen to other people’s takes on the matter. However, a lot of people are not buying it. So, fans have recently dug up an old Craigslist ad from Thug. According to HipHopDX, it was for any woman interested in having a good time with him. It was posted in 2011 after a breakup. The post read, “I’m a 6’6, handsome, rich, black male looking for sex with no strings attached. I just got out of a relationship and looking to get my rocks off.” Thug has not yet replied to this at the time of writing.

Timbaland Walks Back “Muzzle” Statement About Britney Spears

A few months ago, producing extraordinaire, Timbaland made some controversial comments during a recent interview. The misogynistic-like statement was given during a live interview with 9th Wonder at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. It took place right before the end of October. What led to putting himself into hot water was that someone asked about the revived buzz around “Cry Me a River.” This is according to Billboard.

This popular song, of course, was produced by Timbaland and landed on Justin Timberlake’s 2002 album, Justified. The renewed talk is due in part because of Britney Spears’ memoir, The Woman in Me. It came out before the interview happened. Timberlake’s album is widely viewed as a response to his splitting with the pop star after dating from 1999-2002. That is when Timbaland made the comment, “She going crazy, right? I wanted to call and say, ‘JT, you gotta put a muzzle on that girl.’” It went viral on social media and after all the backlash, Timbaland decided to issue an apology.

According to Fader, this was his apology. He says, “I’m sorry to all the Britney fans, even to her. I’m sorry because muzzle was—no, you have a voice. You speak what you want to speak. Who am I to tell you what not to speak?” Timbaland continues, “And I was wrong for saying that. I was looking at it from a different lens and what I am is a reconcile person. I’m not a person who takes sides… I apologize to the Britney fans and her.” The reason for him using “muzzle” is because of some serious and personal issues that Britney wanted to reveal to the readers. That includes going through an abortion and more.
