Recently, the up-and-coming femcee received praise from high-profile predecessor Trina despite just recently kicking off her rap career. During a performance in Detroit earlier this week, the Miami-born artist even invited Chey to join her onstage as a special guest. “I always like to show love to people,” Trina said as she welcomed her to the stage.

Chey took to social media afterward to thank Trina for the gesture, sharing a photo of the two of them together. “We told y’all I was taking over right? Trinaaaa [four heart-gesture emojis] @trinarockstarr thank you so much for having me!!” she wrote. “I appreciate you and respect you so much for everything you do for upcoming artists!!!” Chey continued, “I PERFORMED FOR A SOLD OUT SHOW IN DETROIT!!!!!!! I still can’t believe it. I’m so grateful.”

She opened up about some common misconceptions about her career in a chat with Shaoliiin Entertainment earlier this year, revealing that her father has always encouraged her to work towards her goals.

“A lot of people would say [that he could just make a call and put me on], but at the end of the day, you gotta put in the work,” she explained. “He could do that but he rather see me work for it and really push but he’s gonna support one thousand gajillion trillion percent. Ben Shapiro Responds To Nicki Minaj Co-Sign By Begging For Grammy Invite, Gets Flamed For It

Ben Shapiro has been a staunch critic of hip-hop for a very long time. Overall, the conservative pundit has said that rap is not “real” music. Ultimately, this is an extremely reactionary take. Furthermore, it is one that is rooted in a whole lot of racism. However, Shapiro found himself on a rap song recently. Tom MacDonald is a white conservative-adjacent rapper who does the whole MAGA-hop thing. It is a tired and sad grift, and Shapiro decided to give MacDonald his first-ever rap verse.

In the song, he actually disses the likes of Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion. Despite this, Nicki decided to co-sign Shapiro amid her feud with Megan. This subsequently led to criticism online, as fans couldn’t believe Minaj would align herself with someone like Shapiro. Well, since then, Ben has decided to respond to Minaj. As you can see in the tweet below, he actually opted to beg for a Grammy invite. “Yo, @NICKIMINAJ, bestselling rapper in the world can’t get an invitation to the Grammys. Can you hook a homie up?” Ben wrote.

Immediately after this, fans started roasting Shapiro on Twitter, especially after he referred to himself as “homie.” The quote tweets were flooded with jokes, while others simply spoke about just how disappointed they are that Minaj would stoop to this level. “This man is PLAYING in our faces and barbz are eating it up,” one user wrote. This is the bed she chose to lie in,” said another. “A complete embarrassment of a person. No redeeming qualities whatsoever and terrible judgment to boot.” If one thing is for certain, Nicki is only polarizing people further, while the Barbz continue to support no matter what.

Ice Spice Co-Signs Playboi Carti Track “BACKR00MS” After He Shouts Her Out

Ice Spice had herself a truly incredible 2023. Following the success of her 2022 hit “Munch,” Spice became a household name. Overall, she was able to secure some massive collaborations with the likes of Taylor Swift, and even Nicki Minaj. Although some were questioning the sustainability of her success, she ended up putting a lot of those questions to rest. Heading into 2024, she is primed and ready for another big year, especially with the Grammys on the horizon.

Last night, Ice Spice found herself as part of the rollout for Playboi Carti’s brand-new track “BACKR00MS.” The song features Travis Scott, and leading up to the song’s release, Carti was shouting her out. She had posted some raunchy photos for her birthday, and Carti ended up reposting them. As it turns out, there is even a bar on the song about Carti needing a “Munch” like Ice Spice. Spice was taking notice, and once the song dropped, she ended up showing some love. “Backr00ms,” she tweeted while adding a lipstick kiss emoji.

As for the song itself, it is yet another lowkey and mysterious song from the artist. With each new album era, Carti has delivered a new sound. Drake Gives Sexyy Red The Ultimate Praise Following “For All The Dogs” Feature

Drake has been having an interesting weekend so far. Overall, it has been a successful one given the fact that he just dropped For All The Dogs. The 23-song undertaking is going to be the number-one album in the world come next Monday. However, this may just prove to be a bittersweet moment for Aubrey. The album is quite polarizing and people are a bit underwhelmed by what the megastar put out. With a name like For All The Dogs, fans expected some hard rap tracks. Instead, the majority of the album sees Drizzy getting into his R&B bag.

Despite the negative reactions to the album, there is one song that is almost universally beloved. Of course, we are talking about the cut “Rich Baby Daddy” which features Sexyy Red and SZA. SZA appears earlier on the tracklist with the previously released “Slime You Out.” As for Sexyy Red, she has been getting a ton of co-signs from Drake as of late. Consequently, it came as no surprise that she would get a feature on the album. Now that the song has been released, Drizzy continues to give the newcomer her flowers.

In the Instagram story reposted above, the Canadian legend thanks Sexyy Red for all that she has done. “Thanks for holding me down and killing sh*t all summer,” Drake wrote. “You are the kindest most solid and I luhhhh you.” Previously, the artist had added Sexyy Red as the opener to his tour. Furthermore, she is going out on tour as an opening act, and the shows have already sold out. C-Murder Co-Signs NBA YoungBoy, Calls Him His “Soulja Slim Of The New Generation”

Thanks to modern technology, C-Murder has been able to keep up with at least some of the hip-hop headlines over the past decade while he’s been in prison. His name has been in the headlines this month as Kim Kardashian does her part to help free the 52-year-old, however, not everyone (especially not his alleged victim’s family) wants to see Murder – born Corey Miller – back on the streets. Regardless of what’s happening with his legal affairs, the New Orleans native is still using his platform to speak out about issues that are important to him, particularly the relationship between the new and old generations of hip-hop.

On Sunday (August 20), Murder’s Instagram page lit up with a new post sending out a message to others from his generation. “I want to ask the older cats to stop hating on our new generation that rap. These dudes really eating and it’s all legal,” he captioned a photo of NBA YoungBoy. Apparently, the 23-year-old has been “keeping it realer with [Murder] than any ni**a [he] knows.”

Russ Recalls Getting Drunk Before Interviews, Flexes Dr. Dre Co-Sign

During a recent interview with Zane Lowe, Russ opened up about his previous alcohol consumption. Apparently, that’s what could have led to some of his previous controversies. He revealed that he used substances to mask his insecurities, claiming that eventually, it just felt normal to him. It soon got out of hand, however, and he began to feel the need to drink before interviews.

“I was drinking a lot, and it was just because when I first started making music, that’s what it was,” he began. “The studio was a party. You’re smoking weed, you’re drinking. And so I would drink when I was in the studio. It just felt normal. It felt regular.” Russ went on, “But then I was drinking before interviews, and that’s how a lot of those interviews went left. I was pretty hammered in some of them. Because it’s all that’s coming out, but I never had a problem. I wasn’t waking up and like, ‘I need a drink.’ I would just drink in certain situations, but that in and of itself was an issue.”

“And it was easier to just do that than actually be authentic and be like, ‘You know what? I am nervous, I am feeling insecure, I am all these things,’” Russ shared. “And now it’s, yeah. I’m not rigid to the point where it’s like, ‘I will not drink.’ It’s, ‘I’ll have a drink whenever I want to have a drink.’ It’s just now I don’t want to have a drink when I wanted to have a drink back then.”

He went on to explain that he’s been able to maintain a healthy relationship with alcohol since slowing down, which has helped him come into a more real version of himself. It looks to be paying off, as his new album SANTIAGO has so far been a success. Recently, it even got the approval of Dr. Dre. Russ shared a clip of the duo nodding along to “Enough” in the studio. “A big part of this album is about validating yourself and chasing your own approval,” he captioned the post. “But I can’t lie DR DRE APPROVAL FEELS GOOD AS F*CK!!!!“

The hilarious clip has gotten nearly 7.5K likes, and thousands of comments from people reacting to the 35-year-old. One of them came from Drake. He wrote, “This was needed today,” leading Nef The Pharoah to pin him at the very top of the post. “I appreciate it gang ,” the latter wrote back.

Drake seems to be in surprisingly positive spirits considering a handful of his previously unreleased tracks surfaced online today. Scar Lip broke down into tears after getting a co-sign from her fellow Bronx rapper Cardi B. The Invasion of Privacy rapper shared a video of Scar Lip on her Instagram Story, Monday night, with the caption, “I love her.” The post came after Cardi attended the 2023 Met Gala in New York City.

“Cardi B just posted me,” she said while breaking down into tears. “She inspired me. She from The Bronx, bro. I’m from The Bronx. She showed us young girls we could make it and we could be something, bro. I can’t fucking believe this shit. We did it.”
