Fat Joe Seems To Shade Chance The Rapper While Addressing Grammys Loss

It seems like Fat Joe still has a sore spot over losing a Grammy to Chance The Rapper back in 2017, as he recently expressed this disappointment during a sit-down conversation. However, it seems like Joey Crack has a particular issue with the “3333” MC given his language, which seems to go beyond typical jealousy, frustration, or indignation. “All The Way Up” lost to Chance’s “No Problem” for Best Rap Performance, whereas it lost to Drake’s “Hotline Bling” in the Best Rap Song category.

“We got robbed,” Fat Joe said of his two Grammy-nominated tracks, one of which was “Lean Back” with Remy Ma and Scott Storch in 2005 and the other of which was “All The Way Up” with Remy Ma, French Montana, and Infared in 2017. “‘Lean Back,’ we lost to the Black Eyed Peas, I don’t know if you know…. And then we lost ‘All The Way Up’ to Chance The Rapper. Like, that’s the biggest disrespect. Let me tell you something. No, I’ma keep it real with you. You know how Jay-Z used to say, you know, ‘Got to learn to live with regrets‘? I can’t live with that one. Losing to Chance The Rapper, ‘All The Way Up,’ or whatever his s**t was, it was just not that, right? […] It’s crazy. The Grammys have been playing with us the whole time.”

We don’t know if Fat Joe really has a problem with Chance The Rapper or if he just really wanted his Grammy, but we doubt that either rapper will clarify this. Maybe they do speak on some tension further down the line, but it doesn’t sound like a likely scenario. After all, they both probably have a lot more to focus on these days, such as new projects and extracurricular endeavors.

Meanwhile, Chance The Rapper is not the only 2010s superstar that Fat Joe recently spoke on. He also told Big Boy about his thoughts on the Kendrick Lamar and Drake battle, how he thinks it was successful, and what its impact created. Chance The Rapper Treats Fans To A New Writing Exercise As New Album Demands Increase

Chance The Rapper has been dropping a lot of loose material over the past two years, but some fans feared that the new Star Line album that was on the way wouldn’t manifest at all. Fortunately, we have a new reason to assuage those fears, as he dropped a new “writing exercise” on YouTube. It’s a new song about the things in life that nobody can prepare you for, filtered through the Chicago MC’s perspective as an artist, businessman, and as a Black man. While the instrumental remains quite light, soulful, and soothing, there’s a more melancholy and almost pessimistic tone to the actual content that creates a compelling contrast.

For those unaware, one of Chance The Rapper’s last drops was “3333,” which was also a bit of a conceptual track about his love for performing and a particularly undersold Minnesota show. These new cuts have all been very interesting, as their introspection and airy sonic pallet shows a lot of heartfelt reflection and lack of pretense. With this new track, Chance also announced the “Writings on the Wall” event in Miami from December 3 to December 6, which will be a chance to listen to this new Star Line album and what its introspective nature will yield.

Elsewhere, Chance The Rapper recently took a break from his next musical moves to seemingly address the United States election this year. “For the lost,” he captioned a post containing various Black leaders throughout history, evoking not just their revolutionary or transgressive rhetoric, but also their imagery. It’s a bit too vague to fully attribute it to the election’s outcome, but given all the context of the past few weeks, it certainly makes sense.

Meanwhile, this upcoming Miami listening event for Star Line wouldn’t be the first, and previous iterations already generated a lot of hype for the new album. But still, we don’t know what Chance The Rapper is waiting for when it comes to this new project, as we’ve been in rollout and loosie single mode for a while. At least we know that a solid LP will result from it.

With so much hip-hop happening in 2024 so far, it’s ironic how the growth of competition only seems to yield more and more MCs chiming in for a huge year. Among the most anticipated comebacks for the next eight months or so is that of Chance The Rapper, who’s been teasing a lot of new music for his upcoming Star Line Gallery album. Moreover, he just shared a new clip on social media on Sunday (April 21), in which he’s taped in the studio with Lil Wayne, T-Pain, JD, Jazze Pha, Jermaine Dupri, and many others while he sings a tender unreleased track amid a lot of other footage. Overall, the Chicago rapper seems to be gearing up for something truly special soon.

Furthermore, this follows a lot of other short teases on platforms like Instagram and Twitter, one recent example of which actually calls for a revolution as opposed to the typical democratic process. He’s never been shy about his sociopolitical views, but it seems like there’s another kind of fire that’s building within him as opposed to what we’ve seen earlier in his discography. Chance The Rapper Plays New Music In Chicago Ahead Of “Star Line Gallery” Album

Chance The Rapper’s upcoming album Star Line Gallery is one of the year’s most anticipated releases, of which we’re getting brief but promising hints. While it’s been a long time since his last project, which disappointed many fans, it feels exciting to see this second wind connect with a lot of people. In fact, the Chicago native recently got to play some presumed material from the LP to his hometown. Folks obviously aren’t 100% sure that these will appear on the tracklist, but it’s definitely a likely outcome. The most important thing is that these new cuts are sounding like really well-crafted, thoughtful, and tender lyrical cuts.

Chance The Rapper is gearing up to drop Star Line Gallery in spring of 2024, fans believe, and this new track “I Will Be Your” is a great indicator of that. Moreover, the song is dedicated to his Black Star Line Festival in Ghana, and as such, themes of community, perseverance, support, and hope in the face of adversity are very present. It makes for one of the Chicago rapper’s most emotionally resonant singles in his post-The Big Day run, although these other cuts did not have a lack of meaning. Instead, this song amplifies it with a light-hearted tone, both delivery-wise and production-wise, even if its artist is speaking on large issues. What’s important is that he tackles them with the care and levity with which you’d speak to a family member.

Furthermore, a soulful sample provides the bed in which Chance The Rapper lyrically lays, proclaiming that “I will be your everything.” By cutting out the last word, he switches between being different roles for a loved one, all of which communicate the idea of him as a leader. Think what you will of the “Writing Exercise #5” MC’s last project, but don’t doubt that he has this capacity. Sure, some may read this as a little too savior-complexed, but we’d be lying if we said that it wasn’t an inspiring sonic pallet. Lyrically, he’s colorful, charismatic, clever, and seems very focused on building a lively and comforting narrative.

Chance The Rapper Reveals “A Lot Of Negatives” During Tour With Macklemore In Europe

Chance The Rapper and Macklemore might not be the first two artists you think of together, but the two actually go way back. While reflecting on the ten-year anniversary of his mainstream breakout project Acid Rap to Ebro Darden, Chance spoke on the early days of his career. At one point, he touched on opening for the Seattle MC during his Europe tour in 2013, and called it one of the most challenging obstacles he faced during his rise to the top. However, that’s not because of his performance partner, but rather the circumstances and crowds that they experienced during their trek. It’s wild and heartening to hear the Chicago artist talk about his unfortunate struggles, and to see how far he’s come since.

“The toughest challenge I ever experienced was I went on tour with Macklemore,” Chance The Rapper remarked. “Macklemore is an amazing, amazing person and helped me out tremendously as well. But his shows, it was in Europe and it was, I think 38 dates, all 20,000 capacity rooms. All like off markets too, like Poland and Dusseldorf.

That’s speaking a different language and Black, a lot of negatives on top of each other for the Swedish crowds. So I’m dealing with that.

“When I came home, I got to finally feel at the end of that year when I went on my own solo tour, I got to feel having my own crowd, selling my own tickets and really built my whole off that tour,” the 30-year-old expressed. “The year Acid Rap dropped, I started out and went on tour with Mac Miller, rest in peace, my guy, amazing dude, changed my life in a lot of ways. But I went on tour with Mac Miller at the end of March and my mixtape dropped while I was on tour. I literally watched people go from yawning and looking at their clocks while I was on stage to singing along to jumping along. Keke Palmer Drama Discussion Drags Chance The Rapper Into The Fray

Some of the spiciest pop culture drama this week is what’s going on between Keke Palmer and her boyfriend Darius Jackson. For those unaware, the Internet stormed on Jackson after he expressed disapproval of Palmer wearing a slightly revealing outfit to Usher’s concert- and many think that he was jealous of him serenading her. Of course, like with any public drama between celebrities, people from every corner stepped in to give their take. In the process, people who called out double standards in this case actually brought up Chance The Rapper, referencing a viral video of him from not too long ago. According to these proponents, social media was happy to bash on Chance but let Keke do something similar.

However, when you really compare the two instances, it’s clear that Keke Palmer has much less to explain on her end than Chance. Moreover, someone filmed the Chicago rapper grinding with a woman that isn’t his wife at a festival, which many took issue with. Still, it’s not like it was complete backlash, as plenty of users still defended it as just harmless fun that we don’t even know if his wife approves of. Regardless, it seems like a stretch to compare an act to a dress, especially when its public nature wasn’t prompted by the couple itself as Jackson did in this case.

Chance The Rapper Reflects On How Drug-Fueled Lifestyle Could’ve Killed Him

However, that era also represented a dark time for the Chicago star. Moreover, he recently spoke to Complex and reflected on his heavy drug use at the time, which he believes would’ve killed him if he continued down that path. As the project celebrates its tenth anniversary, this context sheds a dark light on an otherwise bright start to his mainstream success. As a treat to fans, he will perform an anniversary concert at Chicago’s United Center on August 19.

Still, such celebration is underscored by the 30-year-old’s reflections on his personal struggles. “I probably would have died,” Chance The Rapper remarked to the publication. “Definitely, the way that I was living at that time. After that monetary boost, the “Same Drugs” artist said that he went through a lot of changes in his personal life. Despite his burgeoning success, he said that drugs followed him along the way. “I went and rented a crib,” he explained. “This is my first time living outside of my parents’ house in another city and having money and doing a lot of drugs.” From his perspective, substance dependency made him a “different” and also “lesser” person than he is today. Later on in the interview, he theorized what his place in hip-hop would be if he hadn’t had an awakening.

The video of Chance The Rapper grinding with another woman during a Jamaican festival send social media into a frenzy. However, all that’s come from him and his wife concerning the subject is shrouded in an indirect haze. Moreover, the Chicago MC just reposted a clip of standup comedian Bill Burr talking about marriage and fights that happen within it. Furthermore, he doesn’t seem to have captioned the post, but it does line up with people calling him out for the dance. Wherever you land on the debate of whether or not he can do so, it’s hard not to see Burr’s words relate to the situation.

“Yeah, I love my wife to death,” the comedian expressed during his stand-up show. “I love everything about being f***ing married. But I’ll tell you this right now: we do fight a lot. We do argue all the time. If I’ve learned anything in five years of being married, it’s we’re always working on me. You know?” Burr concludes on Chance The Rapper’s IG Story with a laugh.
