Blxst And Russ Lament The Game-Killing Effects Of ‘Fck Boys’ In Their Steamy New Video

Blxst and Russ lament the game-killing effects of “Fck Boys” in their steamy new video for the single from Blxst’s Just For Clarity EP. The melodic rap brethren trade verses about the difficulty of finding love and loyalty as a result of lames who ruin it for everybody as they entertain their female companion in luxurious surroundings. And, in classic Blxst video form, the West Coaster ends up at a photoshoot, swaggering in a casual look as a model drapes herself over his shoulders.

Just For Clarity, which dropped in March, opened up the circle of Blxst collaborators, which had previously only included fellow Angelenos like Dom Kennedy, Tyga, Ty Dolla Sign, and Bino Rideaux. While the South Los Angeles collaboration trend continued with Drakeo The Ruler, the two-song release finally paired Blxst with someone from outside California; the New Jersey-born, Atlanta-based Russ, whose independent hustle and usual choice of introspective content pair with Blxst’s like wine and cheese.

Russ showed off more of his heartbreak anthems earlier this year with videos for “Misunderstood,” “Hard For Me,” and “Bankrupt,” so his collab with Blxst sees both firmly within their respective comfort zones, coolly insisting that their peers need to step their game up.

Blxst Enjoys A Campus Romance In His ‘Chosen’ Video With Tyga And Ty Dolla Sign

Blxst‘s new video for “Chosen” from the deluxe version of his No Love Lost EP takes inspiration from historically Black colleges and universities, with a heavy emphasis on fraternity life as displayed in movies like Spike Lee’s School Daze. Blxst plays the big man on campus, bumping into his romantic lead early in the video and spending time with her on the yard and at a house party.

The song’s featured artists, Tyga and Ty Dolla Sign, also appear as fellow members of Blxst’s frat, throwing a parking lot party and staging a performance backed by cheerleaders on the football field. Meanwhile, the cheerleaders put on a private twerk show of their own in the locker room.

The “Chosen” video follows “Got It All” with Dom Kennedy as the latest visual releases from No Love Lost, while the LA-based rapper and singer followed-up the project with a two-song double single release, Just For Clarity, earlier this month. That single included appearances from the recently released Drakeo The Ruler and indie rap evangelist Russ.

Blxst Collabs With Russ And Drakeo The Ruler On His ‘Just For Clarity’ EP

Blxst is certainly in for a big year after gaining great popularity as a result of a thrilling 2020. While his plans for the forthcoming months remain to be seen, Blxst is kicking things off with a pair of new singles. The West Coast native returns with his Just For Clarity EP supported by contributions from Drakeo The Ruler and Russ. Blxst connects with Drakeo The Ruler for “Don’t Forget,” a silky-smooth effort that sees both artists discussing the skepticism they encountered on their way to the top. While they’ve forgiven their doubters, the duo declares that they won’t be forgotten as it fuels their motivation to continue thriving.

The second song of EP presents Russ alongside Blxst for “Fck Boys.” On this track, they both find themselves in relationships with women who are damaged due to sub-par experiences with men they encountered prior to them. Despite these hardships, the duo declares that they’re the man their female companions have been waiting for. To add to their point, Russ questions “who the f*ck is he to f*ck up your whole life” while Blxst reminds listeners that “f*ck boys f*ck it up for real n****s.”

The songs arrive after Blxst shared a deluxe reissue of No Love Lost at the end of last year. Since then the singer has also delivered videos for “Got It All” and “No Love Lost.”

Blxst’s ‘No Love Lost’ Dance Video Showcases Some Award-Winning Talent

LA rapper Blxst is in the midst of a huge breakout after bubbling on the city’s underground scene for the past few years. With the release of his debut tape, No Love Lost, and its star-studded deluxe edition, Blxst has become a household name on the West Coast, with designs on expanding his popularity to the national stage in short order.

To help with that, he’s enlisted the aid of Angyil, a Red Bull Dance Your Style World finalist, to put her own interpretation on the latest single from Blxst’s breakout album. The “No Love Lost” dance video puts Angyil on the picturesque Dakar coast, which provides a beautiful backdrop for her electrifying moves.

Blxst’s highly visual approach to his debut project is part of the reason for its success. Beginning with the video for “Overrated,” several of the videos from the original project tell an overarching narrative that describes a night of LA-style troublemaking, as Blxst and his boys “run a play,” forcing Blxst’s girl to stay up late worrying about him. The narrative concludes in the video for “Pressure,” resolving the plot and establishing Blxst as a master storyteller — which is the biggest part of his appeal.
