Zonnique Pullins Takes Credit For “Baddie,” Cites Beyoncé’s Former Instagram Handle

OMG Girl Zonnique Pullins, also known as Miss Star, demanded that fans give her group credit for popularizing the term “baddie.” In a recent tweet, the singer said, “I’m sorry to tell y’all but Beyoncé would of never named her Instagram ‘baddiebey’ and wrote a letter to the OMG Girlz thanking us for naming her Instagram if OMG didn’t put the word on the map… Never said we invented it… I know exactly where the word was invented🤧.”

This comes after a clip from her interview with podcaster Mr. Jay Hill where he claimed not to know any OMG Girlz songs went viral. Zonnique was quick to respond, citing some of the group’s best hits, including “Gucci This (Gucci That),” “Where The Boys At,” and “Baddie.” She asked, “You hear girls saying baddie, right? Where do you think that comes from?”

Zonnique Claps Back

Twitter users had mixed opinions of the clip. Some agreed with Mr. Jay Hill, stating that they also did not know any OMG Girlz songs. Others sided with Zonnique and claimed to have witnessed the group’s influence first-hand. Some users even claimed that it was disrespectful for him to invite the artist to his podcast without knowing who she was.

Social media’s opinion about how influential the OMG Girlz were may be mixed, but the truth remains that they did influence Beyonce’s OG Instagram handle, @baddiebey. In November 2012, the musical group did an interview with ISHlist entitled “Top 7 Reasons Beyoncé Is a Baddie.” The RENAISSANCE singer took note of this and, in true Queen B fashion, replied with a handwritten note. It read, “Hey Beautiful Young Ladies. Thank you so much for the sweet things y’all said. You named my Instagram!! FYI!! I’m very proud of you ladies. I hope to see y’all soon – Baddie Bey.”

The OMG Girlz’s Influence

This isn’t the first time the OMG Girlz have referenced the fact that they influenced Beyonce’s original Instagram name and the popularity of the word baddie overall. In May 2022, during an interview with The Shade Room, they referenced influencing the mother of three and recounted their reaction to finding out that they helped with coining her Instagram name. Do you think Zonnique has a point? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more pop culture news.

DJ Quik Says Working With JAY-Z and Beyoncé in a Studio Was an ‘Out-of-Body Experience’

DJ Quik Says Working With JAY-Z and Beyoncé in a Studio Was an ‘Out-of-Body Experience'

DJ Quik has lived one of the best lives in Hip-Hop history. Appearing on All the Smoke with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, Quik recalled being in the studio wth JAY-Z and Beyoncé, saying it was an “out-of-body experience.”

“Amazing, an out-of-body experience,” Quik said. “It’s like, ‘Wow.’ You really made it when you’re in the studio, Beyoncé’s offering you motherf**ing water, fruit and sh*t and just chilling. That session was just like you could imagine it’d be. Jay is quiet, he ain’t the kinda dude to walk around the studio writing and thinking or something. He sit there and just let the music get in and what not.”

Quik would contribute to the Hov doesn’t write rhymes legend, stating the rapper gets quiet in a corner and goes to wrok in his mind. Once he emerges he cocks his hat and drops off the heat.

“When he cock his hat, he go in there and just start nailing that shit. I ain’t see this motherf***er write not one lyric.”

DJ Quik Recalls Studio Session With Jay-Z & Beyoncé: “An Out-Of-Body Experience”

Jay-Z and Beyoncé are formidable artists individually, but as a couple, the powerhouse hitmakers are untouchable. They’ve collaborated with hundreds of artists from all facets of the industry and even more openly desire to work with them in the future. DJ Quik is a Hip Hop legend in his own right, but he, too, couldn’t help but be a tad star-struck when he was in the studio with Jay and Bey.

The California icon shared his story while visiting the All the Smoke podcast. It was 20 years ago when Quik collaborated with Jay for his The Black Album project. He called it an “amazing, out-of-body experience” to be in close quarters with the couple. “It’s like, ‘Wow.’ You really made it when you’re in the studio, Beyoncé’s offering you motherf*cking water, fruit, and sh*t. And just chilling.”

“That session was just like you could imagine it’d be,” Quik continued. “Jay is quiet. He ain’t the kinda dude to walk around the studio writing and thinking or something. He sit there and just let the music get in and whatnot.” Young Guru was “at the controls,” he added, while “I’m on the beat, [Beyoncé] is over there chilling. Cool as shit, so humble, sweetheart, right?”

“Jay will just be sitting there humming, making these little sounds and sh*t. And he’d just cock his hat to the side, and it’s like, ‘Alright, Guru, I’m ready.’ When he cock his hat, he go in there and just start nailing that sh*t. I ain’t see this motherf*cka write not one lyric.”

Jay & Bey’s Next Era

Hov and Bey have been busy, if not with their crafts, then in business. Fans are preparing for what is slated to be the most significant world tour in the last few years as Beyoncé is preparing to embark on her Renaissance travels. She recently became the artist with the most Grammy wins, and Jay-Z was at the ceremony to watch his wife accept her honor. Meanwhile, ever so often, Hov creeps on a track with a surprise verse that sets the internet on fire. His diversified portfolio keeps his schedule stacked; from sports to politics to spirits to management, the Knowles-Carters stay at the top.

Halle Bailey Revealed Her Ariel Doll From ‘The Little Mermaid’ And It Sounds Like Beyoncé Wants One Too

As I’m sure you know by now, Halle Bailey is due to appear as the titular character in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid — which means that not only will her likeness be appearing in trailers and on billboards but on toy aisle shelves as well.

The singer choked up as she revealed the strikingly accurate Ariel doll in a video on her social media pages, gushing that “she even has my mole!” A voice can be heard from off-camera saying “I want one,” and fans are convinced that it’s none other than Halle’s mentor Beyoncé, as evidenced by a comment from her cousin Angie Beyince saying “I’m with [bee emoji] I want 1!”

Bailey’s casting, although progressive on its face, wasn’t without some controversy. Upon seeing the first teaser revealing Halle as the aquatic protagonist, some viewers took to social media to decry the casting decision. However, Halle took the criticism in stride, thanks to encouraging words from her grandparents and the realization that the casting was symbolic of progress for little Black girls who get to see themselves as princesses.

The same principle probably applies to the doll as well. While there’ve been plenty of Black dolls throughout the years, few have been officially licensed by Disney based on their most lucrative intellectual properties.

Where To Buy Renaissance Tour Tickets

World-renowned, multi-talented Beyoncé is officially setting off on her new 57-show tour in honor of her seventh studio album, Renaissance. The Renaissance World Tour is peeking right around the corner with her first concert scheduled to commence on May 10, 2023 in Stockholm. Beyoncé is easily one of the best performers in the world, so it’s safe to expect an amazing show. It has been projected to be Beyonce’s highest grossing tour yet, not to mention a unique crowd experience compared to past shows. It has been made crystal clear that this tour should not be taken lightly, and fans should be prepared.

2023 has truly revealed itself to be a year full of ticket fiascos. In an effort to prevent a similar disaster to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour presale, we have compiled a list of options to make the process somewhat less catastrophic. While there have already been people struggling to get seats and presale has closed, it’s still not too late. There is certainly no better time than the present for fans to start getting their hands on some tickets, especially the best seats.

Ticketmaster

Anybody scrolling on social media during the time of Taylor Swift’s tour presale knows that Ticketmaster has caused some serious trust issues. Luckily, efforts have been put in place. Ticketmaster gives the best visual of the stage no matter the location, allowing fans to find their perfect view. Filters also allow fans to find tickets within their budget. As of March, general admission tickets through Ticketmaster from around $100 USD to around $500 USD, while VIP packages can go all the way up to $5,000 USD.

Now that presale is over, some fans are disappointed. However, the past has taught us that perhaps presale isn’t quite the best. Now that sales are open to the general public, there is no queue or hassle to get on the sites. Beyoncé’s own website trusts Ticketmaster the most as that’s where they send interested buyers.

StubHub

StubHub and Ticketmaster have been butting heads for years, competing as arguably the most trustworthy ticket sale sites. One aspect that makes StubHub stand out against the rest is the way they prioritize protecting their customers to ensure there are no issues. They make it easy to find the perfect tickets for any fan, and even display when tickets are selling fast. It also allows flexibility for any fans who might need to sell their tickets last-minute.

VividSeats

This site is pretty much the run-of-the-mill ticket sale platform. VividSeats provides fans with access to everything they need in order to ensure a smooth process, however the features are not necessarily special. This is a great place to go for Renaissance tour tickets if other sites are down. Prices may also be lower here, so it’s definitely worth checking out.

What about other platforms?

When searching for tickets to a concert as momentous as Beyoncé’s tour, fans will often find themselves settling for the cheapest they can find. While this is understandable, these are typically the sites that customers end up having issues on. The recommended sites above are the most trustworthy according to research and experience. There are plenty of scammers and manipulative resellers that will be sure to take advantage of a tour as big as the Renaissance tour. It is important to be on the watch for deals that feel too good to be true, because they almost always are.

Getting tickets to this show is on many fans’ priority list this year, and there is absolutely no doubt at all that Beyoncé is going to put on yet another amazing performance. Presale may have been chaotic but fans can now be at ease knowing there are still plenty of options to buy. It is important to remember that Beyoncé always prioritizes serving under-privileged communities through her BeyGOOD Foundation, allowing fans of all kinds to have a chance at attending. This show will be one to remember.
