Usher Pulls April Fool’s Joke On Dreamville Fest By Teasing Beyoncé Guest Appearance

On the most dangerous day to trust headlines online, a headlining act had some fun with thousands of adoring fans. Usher just trolled Dreamville Fest during his set with an April Fool’s joke, claiming that he was about to bring out Beyoncé to perform. Of course, fans went ballistic when they heard the R&B singer say her name, but it clearly dawned on them that something was wrong when Usher looked back confused at his festival staff. After walking around the stage for a bit, beckoning for someone to come up, he stepped to the mic and crooned, “April Fool’s.”

Hilariously enough, it wasn’t the only prank scare that rocked the North Carolina event, although the other instance proved to be truthful (unless A.I.-generated content has really gone too far). Lil Durk said that he’s been collaborating with J. Cole during a sit-down interview at Dreamville Fest. When initial reports of the news came out, fans expressed skepticism until Internet sleuths posted the clip in question. As such, fans now anticipate a hard-hitting product from the two revered hip-hop storytellers.

Usher’s April Fool’s Prank Leaves Beyoncé Fans Fuming

Furthermore, the Confessions artist went on a bit of a hot streak promotionally recently thanks to a few factors. First, there’s his sultry and immaculate Las Vegas residency, during which he serenaded a fan with an intimate performance. To elaborate, he went into a crowd and danced with a fan as he fed her strawberries. Given his status as the “King of R&B” and the smoothness of his music, no one can deny it was quite the remarkable experience for a fan to get. Still, it’s not uncommon for Usher to engage with fans during his performances in a sweet and evocative way, and still gives a show for all to remember.

Meanwhile, he recently released the single “GLU,” which is a classic, buttery, and passionate R&B cut. With that, he fought back against common takes that the genre is “dead,” showing fans and detractors alike that he’s still got it. Apart from that prank, it seems like people were blown away by the sheer amount of hits that the 44-year-old played for fans at Dreamville Fest during his great performance. Regardless, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Usher and this weekend’s Dreamville Fest.

Kim Burrell Details Phone Call With Jay-Z When Beyoncé Was “Going Through It”

Jay-Z and Beyoncé carried the image of a picture-perfect relationship throughout their lives but in 2016, the world found out about the turmoil between the power couple. The moment Bey released Lemonade, she provided a rare glimpse into her otherwise private life. She alleged infidelity during their marriage and the struggles she faced to keep her family together as Jay and Becky with the good hair frolicked around together, allegedly. Then, Jay dropped 4:44, which served as a companion piece that showcased the rapper in his most vulnerable form.

Though Jay-Z and Beyoncé have explored the backstory of their respective projects, Kim Burrell recently shone a light on an interesting conversation she had with Hov. Burrell explained that she received a call from Jay-Z at one point, who told her that Beyoncé listened to nothing else but her music to uplift her spirits. However, Hov identified Beyoncé’s habitual listening patterns as a sign that she was “going through it.”

Jay-Z Calls Kim Burrell

Around the time Jay-Z was working on 4:44, he rang up Burrell to inform her of the impact she had on Beyoncé during a trying time in her life. “At the time, I didn’t know it was going to be the name of the record but he called me and said, ‘Hey, my wife is going through it. I always know because I hear you playing in the background,’” she recalled. “He’s like, ‘My wife locked up in there for 11 hours and I heard nothing but Kim Burrell for 11 hours.’”

Burrell explained that Jay-Z called her to inform her of the impact that her music had on his wife. “He’s like, ‘Here’s why I’m calling you. When she came out, she was better.’ He said she was so much better. He says, ‘I’m calling you because I need to have a meeting with the person that made my wife better.’” Following the conversation, Kim Burrell said that she flew out to him and met him at the studio where he recorded 4:44. Though her intention wasn’t to appear on the album, she wound up featuring on the titular track which served as a public apology to Beyoncé. Check the clip out above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Beyoncé’s “CUFF IT” Surpasses “Halo” As Her Longest-Charting Solo Song Of All Time

In less than two months, Beyoncé and her crew will head out to amaze audiences with her long-awaited RENAISSANCE tour. While jokes about the mother of three practicing vocal runs while sprinting on the treadmill in heels, and exclusively consuming almonds and water to keep her figure right have been circulating on social media, her album continues to speak for itself by breaking more records. Most recently, one of her newer songs beat out an old fan favourite as her longest-charting solo song of all time.

Twitter account @PopBase shared the news on Monday (March 27) evening, that Beyoncé’s 2008 hit, “Halo,” has officially been surpassed by “CUFF IT” on the Billboard Hot 100 in terms of total weeks charting. The former song arrived on the Houston native’s I Am… Sasha Fierce album, and has an undeniably ethereal, feel-good vibe to it. The latter, of course, is on the RENAISSANCE project and has since seen incredible remixes from Blxst and Bey herself.

“CUFF IT” Continues to Break Records

While “CUFF IT” is undeniably a fan favourite, other popular titles from the 16-song tracklist include “BREAK MY SOUL,” “ALIEN SUPERSTAR,” and “ENERGY” featuring Beam. Shortly after unveiling RENAISSANCE to the world last summer, Beyoncé hinted that the project was part of a trilogy, though it remains unclear when the next two albums will be arriving. As for her tour, it’s due to begin on May 10 in Stockholm, before the vocalist takes over stages in various other cities around the world. Ahead of the big premiere, fans got a preview of what’s to come when Beyoncé made a grand return in Dubai earlier this year.

At the time, she was helping to celebrate the opening of a new hotel in the luxurious country, and celebrity friends like Kendall Jenner, Chloe and Halle Bailey, and her husband, Jay-Z were all in attendance. A strict no-phones policy was enforced ahead of the performance, though some attendees still managed to capture clips and leak them online. While what we saw of that show was undeniably impressive, it’s likely that the upcoming RENAISSANCE shows will only be better thanks to the Virgo superstar’s incredible work ethic. Revisit “CUFF IT” below, and check back later for more music news updates.

Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Track ‘Cuff It’ Is Still Breaking Records, Several Months After Its Release

Beyoncé‘s Renaissance was undoubtedly one of the biggest, if not the biggest, release of 2022. The album was full of hits; the lead single “Break My Soul” is a timeless banger, and “Alien Superstar” kept fans entertained and making memes.

Months later, the album is still kicking it, especially “Cuff It.” The song has exceeded her beloved classic hit “Halo” as her longest-charting solo song of all time on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, according to Pop Base on Twitter. The feat has fans celebrating.

Renaissance was also recently the inspiration for a collection with Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing. About it, Rousteing said, “I was sketching and sketching as I listened, and sometimes you can’t control the emotion of your sketch… it wasn’t something I was supposed to be doing but I was just inspired by the music to do it.”

Beyoncé’ praised it, writing, “Thank you @olivier_rousteing and @balmain for bringing RENAISSANCE to life in couture,” she wrote. “Designing alongside you was freeing—thank you for allowing me to celebrate the human form, to take artistic risks, to push boundaries and to freely express myself. To the @voguefrance team, thank you for trusting in our vision and sharing it with the world.”

Beyonce Ranked 8th Most Influential Black Celebrity

The most influential Black celebrities on social media were recently revealed and you won’t guess who was listed at the top. New research was used by analysing Instagram and Twitter followings as well as follower engagement rates.

Beyoncé ranks eighth on the list of social media’s most influential black celebrities, with an influence score of 75.86 out of 100. The legendary singer and songwriter has 294.7 million followers on Instagram and 15.7 million followers on Twitter

French footballer Kylian Mbappé ranks as the most influential black celebrity on social media, with a social media influence score of 93.18 out of 100. The 24-year old, who currently plays for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain, has a whopping 97.1 million Instagram followers and 11.7 million Twitter followers. He was found to have the highest Instagram engagement rate out of any celebrity in the list at 12.09%, and the second highest Twitter engagement rate, at 2.43%. It is worth noting this is well above the average engagement rate for any user on either platform, which is 0.98% for Instagram and 0.04% for Twitter.

The study, conducted by Black lifestyle brand That Sister, used data to create a combined social media influence score for more than 20 of the most popular Black celebrities. The overall score took into account the number of followers each celebrity has on Instagram and Twitter, as well as their audience engagement rates on both platforms.

Beyoncé Praised Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing And Reflected On The ‘Freeing’ Design Experience For Their New Collection

Today, just a day after announcing the end of her partnership with Adidas for Ivy Park over creative differences, Beyoncé got to announce some good news in the form of a new collection with Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing. Rousteing, who was inspired by Beyoncé’s new album Renaissance, said of the collection, “I was sketching and sketching as I listened, and sometimes you can’t control the emotion of your sketch… it wasn’t something I was supposed to be doing but I was just inspired by the music to do it.”

Over on Instagram, Beyoncé offered her thoughts on the collection, thanking Rousteing and Balmain and calling the experience “freeing.” “Thank you @olivier_rousteing and @balmain for bringing RENAISSANCE to life in couture,” she wrote. “Designing alongside you was freeing—thank you for allowing me to celebrate the human form, to take artistic risks, to push boundaries and to freely express myself. To the @voguefrance team, thank you for trusting in our vision and sharing it with the world.”

The collaboration marked the singer’s second major collaboration with the French design house. The first, in 2018, produced the pieces that she wore during her historic headlining set at Coachella. Rousteing was responsible for that collection as well, which consisted of HBCU-inspired pieces like hoodies and t-shirts as well as the elegant, diamond-draped gown she wore on stage.

Each of the new looks is inspired by a different track from Renaissance, which you can check out on Vogue‘s website.

Teyana Taylor Recalls Teaching Beyoncé The ‘Chicken Noodle Soup’ Dance As A Teenager: ‘She Was Like A Proud Aunt’

Teyana Taylor had a good time last night (March 23) during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to support her new movie A Thousand And One. She discussed her funny interaction with Justin Bieber during a celebrity basketball game, and she also dished on her experience teaching Beyoncé the “Chicken Noodle Soup” dance when she was only 15 years old.

“She originally wanted to learn the ‘Chicken Noodle Soup,’” she told Kimmel, and then clarified, “This is a popular Harlem dance. I’m from Harlem. I’m battling everybody, and she wanted to learn. So they called me and I was like 15 years old, so I hopped off the bed onto my skateboard and went down there.”

She was surprised at the time, saying she “didn’t even know I would have that opportunity.” Beyoncé even advocated for her to spice up Jay-Z’s music videos as well.

“She was like a proud aunt. She was like, ‘I told you she’s a superstar,’” she said.

When Kimmel asked if Jay-Z thought she was a superstar as well, she answered, “He did. But first he tried to give me a hard time, because we’re both a Sagittarius. So he was testing me.”

Beyoncé And Balmain Co-Designed The Glamorous ‘Renaissance Couture’ Collection, Inspired By ‘Renaissance’

Beyoncé has the fashion girlies buzzing, and they are ready to swarm all over her latest business endeavor. After news broke that the “Cuff It” singer and sports clothing manufacturer Adidas would be splitting ways due to “creative differences,” fans were curious as to what that meant. Now, with the announcement of her latest fashion collaboration, any residual confusion has been cleared up.

In a new interview with Vogue, Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing revealed that the “Flawless” singer and the fashion house had been secretly working on a line dedicated to her Grammy Award-winning album, Renaissance.

Each garment in the 17-look couture collection, titled Renaissance Couture, was designed to emote lyrics and concepts from the vocalist’s album. When asked how he was able to get the entertainer onboard with the idea, Rousteing, replied, “I contacted Marni [Senofonte, Beyoncé’s stylist] and B. And I said, ‘honestly, I want to create a couture collection with you.’ And they were like: ‘Wow, that’s a big surprise.’”

Just like with the record-breaking album, Rousteing points out that this collaboration will also go down in the record books.

“This appears to be the first time that a Black woman has overseen the couture offering from a historic Parisian house,” the designer said. “And those designs were created in partnership with the first Black man to ever oversee all the collections at an historic Parisian house.”

By no means is this the first time that Beyoncé and Balmain have worked together. In fact, the high-end fashion brand played an intricate part in the beloved garments during the singer’s epic Coachella performance, which went on to be immortalized in her documentary film Homecoming.
