Did Beyoncé Shade Donald Glover During Her “RENAISSANCE” Opening Show? Twitter Thinks So

Since turning his talents from making music back to television, Donald Glover has found plenty of success with shows like Atlanta and Swarm. The latter is the multi-talent’s most recent project, and it arrived on Amazon Prime Video a few months back. Starring Dominique Fishback and Chlöe Bailey, the short series tells the story of a young woman whose obsession with her favourite pop star takes her to some deadly places. After the show premiered, many couldn’t help but draw comparisons between the idolized vocalist on-screen, Nijah, and real-life superstar, Beyoncé.

The mother of three hasn’t publicly commented on Swarm – until last night’s debut RENAISSANCE World Tour performance, that is. At one point during her captivating set, Queen B adorned a bee costume. It in itself appears to be a nod to the fanbase in Glover’s show, seemingly referencing her actual audience, known as the BeyHive. When she sang into the microphone, “Swarm on these hands, n*gga,” however, Beyoncé made it pretty clear that she doesn’t have a positive opinion of the six-episode series.

Beyoncé Appears to Respond to Donald Glover’s Swarm

Regardless of what the B-Day songstress has to say about Swarm, critics on Rotten Tomatoes awarded it an impressive 86%. As for at-home audiences, they seem to fall closer to Beyoncé’s side of the fence, ranking it at just 72%. While it’s certainly been criticized (namely for Glover’s admitted failure to prepare his lead actress for her role), it also captivated viewers thanks to salacious moments such as Damson Idris’ sex scene with Bailey, as well as a noteworthy nude shot of Rory Culkin.

As for the 41-year-old’s opening night, things seemed to go off without a hitch. Her seemingly shading Childish Gambino was arguably one of the evening’s wildest moments, though she also borrowed some of Lil Uzi Vert’s dance moves, and called out those who have been begging her to drop visuals to accompany her latest LP, which arrived last summer. While she prepares to take the stage in Europe once again, Twitter has been lighting up with reactions to the rumoured beef between Bey and her co-star from The Lion King.

Twitter Reacts

“To everyone that said, ‘Beyoncé loved ‘Swarm,’” one Twitter user wrote while retweeting a clip of Beyoncé at last night’s concert. Elsewhere, another asked if the “Telephone” hitmaker might have been upset over her mentee, Chlöe’s appearance in the hit series. Did Beyoncé Shade ‘Swarm’ During The ‘Renaissance Tour?’

The Donald Glover-produced Amazon show Swarm was one of the most talked-about television/streaming events of the year so far. Fans were blown away by the Black woman anti-hero tale, from its controversial opening sex scene with Chloe Bailey to its guest starring turns from Billie Eilish and Paris Jackson to its mind-bending ending. But because it was so closely associated with Beyoncé, even the show’s creators were worried about its reception from the real-life Swarm analog, Beyoncé’s infamous fanbase, the Beyhive.

Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour just had its first show, and fans can’t help but wonder whether the queen herself responded to Swarm during the concert. Dressed as a bee and posted up next to one of those “on air” signs you see at movie studios and radio stations, Beyoncé seemingly shouts into the mic, “Swarm on these hands, n****!” — which is one of the top ten funniest things anyone has ever said. What does that even mean!?

Fans can’t help but wonder the same thing. The short, elusive clip above doesn’t really offer much context for the statement, and there appears to be some disagreement on just what Beyoncé is actually saying in it. For instance, she could be saying “Swarm on these Ms,” as in, millions, which would probably make more sense. But the Hive is feisty and loves a good internet fight, even if they have to reach and contort reality to get it — I mean, that’s what the show was about in the first place!

So, no, Beyoncé probably wasn’t shading Swarm or its creators, Donald Glover and Janine Nabers, but hey, if they need inspiration for season two, I’m sure they can wrangle something out of this. Now, that’s entertainment.

Blue Ivy & Jay-Z Support Beyoncé’s “RENAISSANCE” World Tour Debut In Sweden: Watch

Beyoncé’s long-awaited RENAISSANCE World Tour began with a bang last night – all thanks to excellent overseeing done by her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy. It seems the “Halo” songstress brought the family along with her for opening night in Stockholm, Sweden, where she had the stadium crowd going crazy while performing titles from her latest LP. All eyes were on Bey as her vocals rang out and she performed incredible choreography in beautiful designer outfits. The show’s most noteworthy moments found her reminding the crowd that “a Queen moves at her own pace, bitch” and performing Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” dance, much to the internet’s pleasure.

While her mother reminded the BeyHive exactly why she’s their favourite performer, Blue Ivy faithfully watched on from in the pit with her father, Jay-Z. They did their best to blend in with the crowd, wearing subtle black and white garments so as not to upstage the Houston native on her big day. As the crowd cheers and screams behind them, the Roc Nation head nods along, looking around him in approval at the massive number of fans cheering his partner on.

Jay-Z and Blue Ivy Show Out in Stockholm

As DailyMail notes, Beyoncé’s performance wasn’t quite as energetic as past tours have seen her, though some speculate this is due to her recovery from surgery. Her first concert began with a series of ballads, and she didn’t hesitate to take breaks as needed throughout her set. Regardless, the Hive is more excited than ever to see the 41-year-old back on the road for the first time since 2018, when she and Jay-Z brought their collaborative THE CARTERS effort on tour.

Speaking of Hov, he’s got plenty celebrating of his own to do this week. On Thursday (May 11), an open letter from his Roc Nation label went public, declaring why they’re the strongest contender for New York’s casino license. The east coast icon is hoping to open in the top eight floors of a Theatre District skyscraper, and eventually bring plenty of positivity and money into the lives of local residents and business owners. Here Are All The Custom Outfits Beyoncé Wore For The ‘Renaissance World Tour’ Opener

Beyoncé opened her Renaissance World Tour at Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on Wednesday, May 10, and suddenly, the Beyhive had plenty of reasons to forget their collective displeasure over Beyoncé holding back the Renaissance visuals since the album’s July 2022 release.

The Renaissance World Tour featured Beyoncé in all her glory, and one person on Twitter did the Lord’s work by documenting every single outfit Queen Bey wore on stage throughout her all-encompassing set.

Vogue relayed that Beyoncé’s custom looks were designed by Anrealage, Jonathan Anderson, Olivier Rousteing for Balmain, David Koma, and more.

“Overall, the tour feels like a fabulous embodiment of the techno and ballroom-infused sound of Renaissance, which Beyoncé has described as an ode to dance music and queer culture,” Vogue‘s André-Naquian Wheeler wrote. “They also continue the singer’s streak of ostentatiously avant-garde couture fashion for the album’s innovative visual campaigns. A teaser for ‘I’m That Girl,’ which runs a little under two minutes, featured a chaotic flurry of over a dozen custom looks by Schiaparelli, Balenciaga, and others. Beyoncé is well and truly in her fashion girl era.”

Members of the Beyhive who weren’t present for opening night in Sweden have another chance at Friends Arena tonight, May 11, before the Renaissance World Tour moves to Brussels, Belgium on May 14. See all of the dates here.

Beyoncé’s Stunning ‘Renaissance’ Tour Opening Night Has Her Father Reflecting On The Singer’s Childhood Drive

At last, Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour kicked off in Sweden yesterday (May 10), and the show has her father, Mathew Knowles, in a reflective mood.

Yesterday, he tweeted, “I’m just looking at a video from Beyoncé’s first show in Stockholm. Amazing! Just amazing! I remember when Beyoncé was a little girl and all she wanted to be was an entertainer. She has worked so very hard to be the best entertainer in the world, and I am so immensely proud.”

This comes after a series of tweets shared on May 9, in which Knowles wrote more about his daughter’s childhood and how driven she was:

“Beyoncé kicks off The Renaissance World Tour this week. Believe it or not, I’m often still in awe as I watch her continue to soar to heights that few in history have ever been able to. […] If it’s a passion, you won’t need to tell them to go to practice, pick up the instrument, or show up to class. They’ll want to show up naturally and immerse themselves in it. […] We never once during her childhood had to tell her to show up when it came to music. She was never distracted from her inner drive. She knew what she wanted and she went after it. As parents, we didn’t need for her to be an expert or passionate about everything. She faced challenges in math, for example, but as long as she did her best and focused on her musical passion–we were happy.

For me, the start of Beyoncé’s tour this week isn’t just an addition to an already historic year where she now holds the most Grammy award wins ever. It’s a symbol of human achievement and possibility. It’s a mark of what’s possible when a child is encouraged to chase after their dream. And above all else, it hopefully serves as a beacon of light for young people and dreamers of all shapes and sizes to believe in themselves.

Beyoncé Does Lil Uzi’s “Just Wanna Rock” Dance On Tour: Watch

Beyoncé just kicked off her “Renaissance” tour in Stockholm, Sweden. There have been plenty of headlines coming from the first night of the tour. Before the show, fans were eagerly waiting for the setlist. Luckily, they were able to see it early thanks to a video of the tour book being uploaded. The tour book showed a preliminary setlist with some songs circled, starred, and crossed out. Now that the first night of the tour has concluded, fans finally have the full, 36-song setlist. However, Beyoncé did take a moment during the concert to remind fans who is in charge.

Since the release of Beyoncé’s latest album last year, fans have been begging for some sort of visuals. Generally, visuals are a huge part of any album the iconic artist releases. So, it’s no surprise that the main question on fans’ minds has been, “Where are the visuals?” Hilariously, a segment of Beyoncé’s set provided a very direct response to this question. In the intro to “Formation,” a narrator provides a voice-over as the words are displayed on huge screens. “I know you hear me. You’ve asked for the visuals,” the disembodied voice says. “You’ve called for the queen, but a queen moves at her own pace, b*tch.”

Yoncé Just Wants To Rock

There were plenty of classic Beyoncé moments on the first night of the tour. At one point during the show, she showcased her dance moves by doing her own version of Lil Uzi Vert’s famous “Just Wanna Rock” dance. The Lemonade singer was captured on video performing the popular dance as a mash-up with her hit song “Diva.” Her enthusiastic dance moves caused quite a stir among the audience.

The clip has since gone viral on social media platforms, with fans thrilled by the sight of the iconic singer dancing to the catchy beat of Uzi’s track. It’s evident from the video that Beyoncé took the dance very seriously. As always, she gave it her all and proved again why she is considered one of the greatest performers of our time. What do you think of all of the clips from the first night of the “Renaissance” Tour? Sound off in the comments!

Beyoncé Reminds Fans: “A Queen Moves At Her Own Pace, B*tch”

Beyoncé is a highly successful artist with a devoted fanbase. The Beyhive fiercely defends her against negative comments on social media. However, because she has reached the pinnacle of success in the music industry, she is very rarely subjected to criticism. However, anyone who tries will be reminded by her fanbase that Beyoncé is an icon in the industry. Tonight, the singer began her “Renaissance” tour in Stockholm, Sweden. It is a significant moment for her as she has not toured since 2018.

Fans were eagerly waiting for the setlist, which they were able to see early thanks to a video of the tour book being uploaded. The tour book showed a preliminary setlist with some songs circled, starred, and crossed out. Fans believed it to be real, but not the final version. Now that the first night of the tour has concluded, fans finally have the full, 36-song setlist. However, Beyoncé did take a moment during the concert to remind fans who is in charge.

Beyoncé Is In No Rush

That wasn’t all. The narrator went on to remind fans that it was Beyoncé’s decision when and where she would give fans more, if at all. “A queen decides when she wants to give you a f*cking taste.” It was a hilarious reminder that Beyoncé is not blind to the cries of disheartened fans. However, make no mistake: demanding things from Beyoncé does not mean you will get them. What do you think of the message that the artist sent to fans during the concert? Let us know in the comments!
