T.I. Receives Atlanta Award For Community Efforts & Philanthropy

T.I. just received the city of Atlanta’s “highest honor” for his community-based, philanthropic, and humanitarian endeavors: the Phoenix Award. Moreover, he celebrated alongside Mayor Andre Dickens, former Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Senator Raphael Warnock, and Phillana Williams, who presented this to him onstage. This was on Friday (December 29), and followed the trap pioneer’s second show at the Atlanta Symphony Hall to commemorate Trap Muzik‘s 20-year anniversary. In addition to his extracurricular work, this award also points to his indelible musical contributions and what he represents for the city and the culture. In a statement to HipHopDX, Tip expressed gratitude for this achievement and called to his roots and main motivators in his career.

“Humbly honored for us to have received this highest honor by Mayor Andre Dickens and the City of Atlanta,” T.I. expressed. “Dis is for Trap Muzik, 20 years later. Happy to have shared this illustrious moment wit my wife and the rest of my family, along wit da people in da City.” While the Harris family is dealing with some legal trouble and sexual assault accusations at press time, it’s heartening to see they were able to bask in this occasion and enjoy it.

Furthermore, this accolade arrives just as T.I.’s kids are forming their own career paths and following in his magnanimous footsteps. For example, his daughter Heiress recently had her radio debut, which he was of course very proud of and ecstatic to shout out and praise. In fact, the father-daughter duo recently performed one of his hits, “Live Your Life,” which was a nice full-circle moment to witness amid a creative surge. Hopefully there’s more to come in that regard down the road, because it’s always very interesting for us as fans to see these peeks into their dynamics through their art and expression.

Meanwhile, that bond isn’t perfect, but neither is any family unit’s, especially one so overtaken by media coverage and social media scrutiny. All we know for sure is that the 43-year-old should be lauded for his work, a journey that’s far from over yet. We’re sure that 2024 will hold more great things and hopefully some clarifying accountability when it comes to his and Tiny’s accusations. December is coming to an end. December for folks in Miami or the art world means only one thing: Art Basel Miami Beach. Over the past decade, people of color and urban influence have increased during Art Basel. Hip-hop culture was a thread in the hundreds of art exhibits this year. The infamous, always apologizing Kanye West hosted a listening party, and Instagram flooded with pictures from Teyana Taylor’s birthday party. Not only was the art world in Miami but also the industry, namely artists, influencers, content creators, and more.

Red Rooster Overtown hosted the Mayor of Atlanta, Andre Dickens, along with his team, friends, and family at a brunch during Art Basel.

The experience was “when food, vision artisans, and cultures. It’s a recipe for success,” says Chief Creative Officer Kembo Tom of top marketing firm KTC | a Creative Solutions Agency.

What came from the brunch was the need to bring more art and culture events similar to Art Basel to the City of Atlanta, which is one of the centers of Black music and film. As you know, the film industry has rapidly increased in Georgia since 2002, signifying the importance of art and culture. With the help of Andre Dickens and the support of local visual artists like the renowned Fahamu Pekoe and Leroy Campbell, the city can become a hub for art, attracting collectors from around the World for a week of exhibits and festivities. 21 Savage Christmas Giveaway Earns Rapper Community Award

21 Savage has received a community impact award from the City of Atlanta following the fifth year of his Christmas giveaway in the city. Savage accepted his award in a ceremony attended by his manager and his mother. The award was presented by State Representative Billy Mitchell. Despite having been born in the UK, Savage has firmly made himself a part of Atlanta. The run-up to Christmas also sees “21 Savage Day” on December 21. The event typically sees Savage perform in the city as the city honors him for his musical and cultural contributions. He recently returned to Atlanta after his first-ever European tour. The tour was made possible as 2023 marked the year that Savage finally got his green card, allowing him to legally leave the United States.

DaBaby Hosts Christmas Giveaway In Charlotte

However, Savage isn’t the only rapper in the giving spirit this holiday season. DaBaby arrived to his annual Christmas giveaway in style, hanging out the side of his ride with a Santa hat and joint as people flocked to see the rapper. The annual event was happening in the rapper’s hometown of Charlotte. Furthermore, it was held at the Eastway Church of God. Gifts given out included bikes, basketballs, and even TVs. “Give back. Give back when you’re blessed if you’re able to bless others,” the rapper told local media outlets.

Furthermore, he expanded on why he puts on the drive every year. “I always remember my mom. Even when we had less, like when we didn’t have enough, when we was barely holding on, when she was making ends meet, I always remember her going outside and us helping others. There’s not a time in my life that my mama wasn’t helping somebody else. You know what I’m saying?” the rapper told local media during the event.

In the comments of a repost of the clip, fans debate whether or not Savage should have his own day in Atlanta. “THIS N*GGA NOT EVEN FROM THERE,” one fan jokes. It’s in reference to the viral story from a few years ago where Savage was shockingly arrested by ICE and it was revealed he was actually born in the UK. “21 savage day before Lil Baby day is crazy to me,” another commenter agrees. Travis Scott Teases “JackBoys 2,” Brings Out 21 Savage In Atlanta

Travis Scott has hinted that he is working on JackBoys 2. While signing autographs for fans, one asked Scott about the rumored projects. “It’s in the works!” Scott shouted back, leading to much excitement. Of course, Scott has already released Utopia this year but it seems that he’s already back on the production wagon. The original JackBoys album came out in 2019 and hit No. 1 on the Billboard Album 200. Fans have been clamoring for a follow-up ever since.

Elsewhere, it also appeared that 21 Savage has made a swift return to the US after his European tour. Savage appeared in Atlanta alongside Scott to perform “TOPIA Twins”, their collab from Utopia. Scott made a few stand-in appearances for Savage during the “It’s All A Blur” Tour before Savage acquired his green card. They had previously performed the song in the US earlier this year. However, the reception was equally electric this time around.

21 Savage Honored By Arsenal FC

As for Savage, as mentioned he just finished up his first-ever European tour. As part of that, the British-born rapper received a warm welcome at Arsenal FC. Arsenal presented Savage with a custom #21 Savage jersey. The #21 jersey is currently worn by Fábio Vieira, who joined the Gunners from Porto in 2022. After the game, Savage also linked up with Emil Smith Rowe, Arsenal’s 23-year-old midfielder. Also following the game, the Emirates Stadium made sure to play Savage’s bar from “Circo Loco” about the team winning the Premier League.

Savage couldn’t have picked a better game to attend. Arsenal dismantled French side Lens, scoring six goals to officially win their Champions League group. However, Arsenal have one more match in the group stage. The Gunners travel to the Netherlands to face second-place PSV in mid-December. Furthermore, Arsenal sits two points clear at the top of the Premier League. The Gunner did their part, beating Wolves 2-1. However, they were helped out by Manchester City drawing 3-3 with Spurs to widen the gap at the top of the table.

BabyDrill Got All Eyes On Him On “Watchin Now”

As we approach the end of the year, it’s becoming clear that BabyDrill will be one artist to keep an eye on in 2024. He’s already emerged as a frontrunner for Atlanta and his latest offering further cements his status as one of the South’s most promising stars. “Watchin Now” brings the rapper’s laidback flow and descriptive bars together with icy and hard-knocking production to set the tone for his next project, Score God. It’s an excellent showcasing of the number of flows he pulls out of his hat.

The record arrived alongside a raw music video that provides a behind-the-scenes look at his life. From mobbing through the streets of Atlanta with his day-ones to backstage at shows, the video for “Watchin Now” captures a star in the making. The video also includes a cameo from Latto, who brings him out on-stage to perform “ISSAPARTY” and chops it up with him backstage. It’s a simple black-and-white visual that doesn’t need special effects or a big budget to capture the essence of BabyDrill.

BabyDrill Got Next

BabyDrill began buzzing in the A with the release of “32 Freestyle.” However, the song began blowing up while he was incarcerated. It set the stage for his return home, and ultimately, landed him a deal with PDE. The budding star hit the ground running afterward, building his buzz while garnering mentorship from Young Nudy and 21 Savage. Currently, he’s serving as 21 Savage’s supporting act in the UK.

Score God will serve as the official follow-up to BabyDrill’s June 2023 project, MadMan. The 17-song project largely centered around BabyDrill, although 21 Savage and Young Nudy did appear on the song, “Slight Dub.” With Score God on the way, we imagine that 2024 will be a massive year for the Atlanta native. Check out his latest single above and sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below.

But she scared at the same time, her only boy, can’t let ’em take me

T.I. Blasts Club For Promoting Event With His & His Son’s Pictures Despite No Booking

T.I. is a hero in Atlanta, and maybe some people depend too much on that legacy to give legitimacy to certain events. In fact, sometimes promoters and organizers might add his cosign onto pretty much anything… even without his knowledge. Moreover, Tip recently went to Buckhead on Tuesday night (November 28) to call a club out for using his picture- and that of his son, presumably King Harris- to promote their event. There’s a video of him speaking to various patrons or venue staff at its entrance, and he’s definitely quite heated.

Furthermore, this is an unfortunately common sight these days, as T.I.’s argument with King over him being an “embarrassment” went viral recently. Perhaps this narrative is what the Buckhead club wanted to capitalize on, and he was not happy at all. “N***a, you can talk to me!” the rapper exclaimed at those present. “Until then, ain’t nobody getting nothing going. Nothing! Call who you need to call, do what you need to do. Ain’t nothing happening. No money, no beers, no partying, no sections, nothing! You putting me and mine on the motherf***ing flyer, n***a, give me everything! And if you can’t, don’t play with me. I don’t know if y’all from here, but n***a, don’t play with me in this city. This my motherf***ing city, don’t play with me in this city.”

T.I. Goes Off On Buckhead In Atlanta: Watch

About that King Harris fight, though, T.I. thinks that the Internet is blowing up the whole situation out of proportion. “Fck what dis internet talkin bout…” he wrote on Instagram while promoting their new episode of Complex‘s “GOAT Talk.” “Da HFamily Tied Like a Knot. We all We Got… 4LIFE… Ima RIDE to da heavens or da depths of HELL bout my Jr.& ain’t nothing gon change that.”

Meanwhile, what do you think about this club trying to get more people in their doors by falsely promoting this family? What did you think about their joint appearance on “GOAT Talk,” which lines up suspiciously (but casually) close with their combative incident? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments section down below. As always, stay posted on HNHH for the latest news and updates on T.I.
