The Best Vinyl Releases Of October 2024

Anybody who thought the vinyl resurgence was just a fad was mistaken: The industry has experienced a legitimate revival. As a result, music fans are interested in physical media in ways they may not have if the decades-old medium hasn’t made a comeback. That doesn’t mean everybody is listening to just their parents’ old music, though. That’s part of it, sure, thanks to rereleases that present classic albums in new ways. A vital part of the renewed vinyl wave, though, is new projects being released as records, of which there are plenty.

Whatever you might be into, each month brings a new slew of vinyl releases that has something for everybody. Some stand out above the rest, naturally, so check out some of our favorite vinyl releases of October below.

Weezer — Blue Album 30th Anniversary Edition

Geffen/UMe

Weezer is celebrating three decades of their iconic debut album this year, and they’re doing it big. A new anniversary reissue of the album is packed with goodies, including newly released archival recordings, all in a massive box set that has four LPs, a 10-inch vinyl, and a 7-inch vinyl. Many of the formats, including the box set wrapped in a sweater and the zoetrope edition have sold out already sold out, but the half-speed remaster is still available for pre-order online, or you can head to your local record store starting on 11/1 to see what they have.

Utah Saints — Utah Saints (Reissue)

Utah Saints

Utah Saints, pioneers in the UK electronic scene, released their self-titled debut album 30 years ago now, so they’re giving it a big, fancy reissue to mark the occasion. The rerelease has been remastered and extended with rare cuts and remixes from folks like David Morales, CJ Bolland, and Andrew Weatherall, all housed in “special limited edition mirror board packaging.”

Jimmy Eat World — Futures: Phoenix Sessions and Surviving: Phoenix Sessions

Exotic Location Recordings

Jimmy Eat World performed their classic album Futures in full earlier this month, and that’s because the album just turned 20 years old. The group has also unveiled an anniversary vinyl in honor of the project (and of Surviving), which is taken from the band’s 2021 livestream event, during which they played the album.

Girls — Album (Reissue); Father, Son, Holy Ghost (Reissue); and Broken Dreams Club (Reissue)

True Panther Records

Girls had a strong run from 2007 to 2012, and now that era is being immortalized: They released two albums — Album and Father, Song, Holy Ghost — and an EP — Broken Dreams Club— and they’ve all gotten vinyl reissues. This is the first time the albums have been pressed since their initial releases. And, if you want to see what Christopher Owens is up to now, he just dropped his latest, I Wanna Run Barefoot Through Your Hair, which is also available on vinyl now.

MF DOOM — MM..FOOD (20th Anniversary Edition)

Rhymesayers Entertainment

MF DOOM’s legacy continues to grow (even, unintentionally, in the realm of popcorn buckets), and part of that legacy, 2004’s MM..FOOD, is getting some love on its 20th anniversary. The new anniversary edition, available in vinyl and digital editions, comes with new artwork by Sam Rodriguez.

Green Day — American Idiot (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)

Green Day

American Idiot was a massive album back in its day… era-defining, even. That was somehow 20 years ago now, and Green Day is giving the album the love it deserves with a significant new reissue, an 8LP (and 2-Blu-ray) box set that has previously unreleased demos, rare B-sides, bonus songs, and unreleased live recordings.

Get it here.

Neil Young — Freedom (Reissue), Ragged Glory (Reissue), Weld (Reissue), and Arc (Reissue)

Reprise Records

Last year, Young re-released four beloved albums from the late ’80s and early ’90s as Official Release Series Volume 5, but now he has made all of those albums available independent of the collection. The box set marked the first time these albums were remastered for vinyl, so this is the best these albums have ever sounded in this medium.

George Michael — Careless Whisper EP

Sony Music

“Careless Whisper” is one of the more iconic songs ever, so fans are in for a treat with this one: It’s the song’s 40th anniversary, so there’s a new EP celebrating it, and it includes a previously unreleased live recording of the classic.

Get it here.

Bronski Beat — The Age Of Consent (40th Anniversary Edition

London Records

“Smalltown Boy” has been dubbed one of the best dance songs ever, and the album it comes from, Bronski Beat’s The Age Of Consent, is now 40 years old. There are a few new editions out now in light of this, including a 2LP version that also features the follow-up remix album, Hundreds & Thousands.

Jackson 5 — Third Album (Reissue)

Motown

Motown has been on a tear reissuing a bunch of albums from their classic catalog, and of course the Jackson 5 are part of the proceedings. Among the October offerings is Third Album, home of the iconic hit “I’ll Be There.” They also offered up new pressings of The Supremes’ A Bit Of Liverpool (Mono edition) and The Temptations’ Sky’s the Limit, continuing a run to get some of the best music ever created in fresh circulation.

Get it here.

Aphex Twin — Selected Ambient Works Volume II (Expanded Edition)

Warp Records

Aphex Twin is reissuing Selected Ambient Works Volume II in a number of new editions. The 4LP box set is the most impressive configuration, as it features four black LPs in polylined inner sleeves, a fold-out poster, and a “sticker sheet and booklet containing development sketches for the original artwork concept by designer Paul Nicholson,” all in “a hinged oak case with a bespoke chemical etched and eroded copper plate and engraved logo with paint infill.”

Creedence Clearwater Revival — Willy And The Poor Boys (Vinyl Me, Please Reissue)

CCR was hustling in 1969: Willy And The Poor Boys was the third and final album they released that year. It was a winner, too, featuring two of the band’s signature songs: “Fortunate Son” and “Down On The Corner.” The new Vinyl Me, Please edition is a winner, gorgeously pressed on “washboard marble” vinyl.

Megan Thee Stallion Admits She Lied To Gayle King About Sleeping With Tory Lanez

Megan Thee Stallion dropped her In Her Words documentary via Prime Video on Thursday (October 31), and it has some very compelling and shocking bombshells throughout. One angle that fans immediately took notice of was when she spoke on the interview she did with Gayle King about the Tory Lanez shooting case. For those unaware, he was convicted of shooting the Houston femcee earlier this decade, a case that continues to follow them around. Nevertheless, King asked her whether they had a sexual relationship, to which she answered that they didn’t. However, in this new doc, Meg admits to lying about this to a degree.

“Yes, b***h, I lied to Gayle King, b***h,” Megan Thee Stallion expressed in the documentary. “First of all, I ain’t know that b***h was even going to ask me about that s**t, b***h. I thought we was going to talk about the shooting. Why is you asking me about f***ing Tory? That’s not what this is about. Even if I was, I f***ed the n***a, like, once. Maybe twice, on a drunk night. But she kept catching me out of my f***ing mind.”

Megan Thee Stallion Admits To Lying During Gayle King Interview

As for the case itself, a recent update we got concerning it revolves around Megan Thee Stallion’s lawsuit against Milagro Gomez for allegedly spreading false information about the Tory Lanez shooting. This relates to a couple of seemingly false or completely false claims online, such as the weapon in the shooting disappearing and an appellate court finding him innocent, both narratives which experienced debunks online. In the case of the latter, it’s 100% inaccurate, but the former could definitely benefit from another impartial assessment to definitively settle the situation.

Meanwhile, Tory Lanez recently filed an ethics complaint against his former attorney, claiming that she had ties to Roc Nation, which is supporting Megan Thee Stallion. As such, there are still a lot of moving parts about this case that have fans feeling skeptical, something this Gayle King confessions will surely contribute to. But intimate relationships were not the crime here. It was the shooting itself. We’ll see whether future developments hold any changes in this regard

Draya Michele Reacts To Laura Govan Alleging She Beat Her Up Over Gilbert Arenas

During her recent interview with Carlos King, Laura Govan had a lot to say about her ex Gilbert Arenas’ relationship with Draya Michele. According to Govan, Arenas allegedly told her he received oral sex from a Philly woman in a car following a brief split. Later, when Draya first appeared on Basketball Wives, Govan claims she befriended her. Ultimately, however, Govan learned that Draya was allegedly the woman Arenas hooked up with.

“When I found out, it was because I was going through some papers at the house, and I saw that he had given her $25,000 and brought her to LA,” Govan explained. “I remember finding the paper, I remember calling my friend and telling her to pick up the kids for me… And I remember going to where she was filming in Hollywood… I remember showing up and I was not supposed to be filming, and I walked past everybody, and I beat the f**k out of her.”

Draya Michele Clears Things Up

Now, Draya has taken to her Instagram Story to defend herself. In a series of posts, she insists that Govan’s timeline isn’t accurate. “I didn’t mess with anyone’s husband,” she wrote in part. “Let’s be clear that no one was married. Let’s also be clear that the interactions I Had with him were years before I was on the show. I did not know her then. And I also did not know her when I agreed to be on the show or her sister. I didn’t even know either of them were going to be on the show so to say the word friend is a huge stretch.”

What do you think of Draya Michele firing back at Laura Govan? Who do you think is in the right in this situation? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Chad Johnson Breaks His Silence On Shocking Sharelle Rosado Split

Chad Johnson, who you might know better as Ochocinco, has been the talk of the town this week. Moreover, his longtime partner and fiancée Sharelle Rosado recently came out on social media to say that they broke up. The former NFL player seemed to push back on this, though, as he posted her initials on his Instagram Story with a lock emoji to suggest that he still wants to keep going. Nevertheless, he addressed the issue recently during an appearance on the Nightcap podcast, his show that he cohosts with Shannon Sharpe. It seems like this is still a pretty complex situation for the most part.

“I’m just saying, I’m blocked,” Chad Johnson remarked. “I don’t know what to do. […] If you live it publicly, you break up publicly? It’s okay. I can deal with that, though. The stove is hot, boy. I won’t touch it. No, [she didn’t say not to call her anymore]. Why don’t you do me a favor? Why don’t you be the moderator? *laughs* You laughing. That s**t ain’t funny, man. That s**t hurt, boy. All I do is tweet normal. I tweet football, that’s it. That’s with me. You ain’t have to be so public, and you might be watching.”

Chad Johnson Addresses Sharelle Rosado Breakup

Shannon Sharpe basically advised Chad Johnson to keep things offline, to give Sharelle Rosado space, and to be ready to have a conversation when she’s ready. But some folks think that there was already something going on in Ochocinco’s relationship. For example, Corey Holcomb recently suggested that her eagerness to appear on Nightcap should’ve been a “red flag” for Johnson from the jump. Of course, that’s just a speculative theory, but it’s one of many examples of folks trying to figure out what could’ve happened.

Nevertheless, that’s not for anyone to know other than Chad Johnson and Sharelle Rosado, so hopefully they can talk things out and reach a decision together. At least we know that Shannon Sharpe is there to support, even if he and Ochocinco have their issues from time to time. Maybe we will see a public resolution to this or they will settle this in private, which seems like the ideal move.

Diddy & His Bodyguard Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 17-Year-Old Boy During “Making The Band” Audition

It’s no secret that Diddy has been hit with countless shocking allegations in recent months. Now, he’s facing even more of them thanks to a new lawsuit, according to AllHipHop. In the suit, an anonymous man alleges that he was sexually assaulted by Diddy. He alleges that this took place while he was auditioning for the mogul’s reality show, Making The Band.

“On the first day of the audition, during a one-on-one interview, Combs asked Plaintiff hypothetical questions about handling situations involving sexual pressure,” the lawsuit alleges. “As Combs described these scenarios, he began to sexually assault Plaintiff by touching Plaintiff both over and under his clothing, including groping and fondling his penis and instructing Plaintiff to undress. While he groped Plaintiff, Combs engaged in sexually explicit behavior, including masturbating himself. Throughout this encounter, Combs emphasized his power to control Plaintiff’s future in the music industry, stating that he had the ability to ‘make or break’ Plaintiff’s career.”

On the third day of the audition, John Doe alleges that one of Diddy’s former bodyguards got involved. “On the third day, Combs introduced his bodyguard ‘T’ into the sexual advances,” the lawsuit alleges. “Combs framed this as a test of Plaintiff’s willingness to do anything necessary to succeed in the music industry. ‘T’ requested oral sex from Plaintiff, and while Plaintiff complied due to force, Combs sexually assaulted Plaintiff again, simultaneously groping and fondling both Plaintiff and the bodyguard.”

Ultimately, Doe alleges he was eliminated from the competition “due to his reservations about performing oral sex on [Diddy’s] bodyguard.” What do you think of a man accusing Diddy and one of his former bodyguards of sexually assaulting him? Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Unveil “Missionary” Tracklist With Star-Studded Support

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre are making their studio album return with Missionary, their new collab project dropping on December 13. Now, we have the condom-themed cover art and tracklist for the record, indicating its playful vibe and teasing the featured guests that will be on it. They are the following: BJ The Chicago Kid, Dre on the mic, Alus, Jhené Aiko, Tom Petty, Jelly Roll, K.A.A.N., Sting, Method Man, Smitty, Cocoa Sarai, 50 Cent, Eminem, Dem Jointz, Stalone, and Fat Money. As you can see, there are some expected picks, some surprises, and overall a whole lot of variety on this forthcoming LP.

Missionary comes out via the Snoop Dogg-owned Death Row Records and Dr. Dre will be responsible for the album’s production. It’s a bit of a spiritual sequel to their 1993 classic Doggystyle, and its first single – “Gorgeous” with Jhené Aiko – drops tonight at midnight (Thursday, October 31). In fact, this is all part of a pretty prolific run for Tha Doggfather these days, as he recently featured on EARTHGANG’s latest offering, Perfect Fantasy. There are a lot of reasons to be excited about his output right now.

Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre’s Missionary: Features & Artwork

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre recently spoke on the creative process on Stephen A. Smith’s show. “Be original,” Snoop remarked. “Right now there’s so much copycatting, mimicking, sounding alike, and imitation. Find your production, your sound, find your ear for who you are, and be original even if it ain’t hitting. Stay you.” “Find your collaborators,” Dre added. “I don’t like the fact that there are nine different producers on one album. I like the idea of one producer on an album. Continuity is everything.”

Furthermore, this discussion of chemistry and continuity made a lot of fans even more excited for Missionary, even if they might disagree with Dr. Dre’s take. Regardless, we can’t wait to hear what Snoop Dogg and company have in store on December 13. In addition, plenty of other recent reflections and statements reminded us of why this moment could be so exciting. Kendrick Lamar recently revealed that they were at fault for his first public display of tears, and their magnanimous place in hip-hop will be a treat to witness.

Benji Blue Bills & Lazer Dim 700 Are Ready To Get Active On Load Out”

Five-year underground rapper from Georgia, Benji Blue Bills, is back with one of the fast risers in his hometown in LAZER DIM 700 for a new record. It’s actually their first track together and it’s called “Load Out.” It arrives after an Instagram post from the former documenting their link-up. “I fw luh Lazer 👾” Blue Bills wrote about a week and a half ago. Then, yesterday, he shared a teaser of the music video for “Load Out,” which is out now on YouTube.

This track also follows Benji’s third solo project 500k Degrees, which dropped back in late August. As for LAZER DIM 700, he’s been having a nice few weeks himself. In particular, his feature game is thriving. He was on VonOff1700’s “Dead N****s” with Polo G and most recently teamed up with Denzel Curry and Bktherula on “STILL IN THE PAINT.” Overall, “Load Out” is pretty standard fare from both Benji and and LAZER. It’s violent and almost cynical, as well as grungy and dark. Their chemistry is there though, so for fans of each of these MC’s we want to know what y’all think. Check out the single first and then leave your thoughts below in the comments.

Montel Williams Sets The Record Straight Amid Kamala Harris Sex Tape Allegations

Recently, unfounded rumors that a sex tape featuring Vice President Kamala Harris and Montel Williams allegedly exists have been circulating online. Moreover, it’s rumored that the alleged tape is being shopped around. According to Williams, however, there is absolutely zero truth to these allegations.

“Wow, I was just informed by my friend, who is the CEO of a large tech company, that there is allegedly a sex tape being shopped around involving Kamala Harris and Montel Williams,” X user Matt Wallace wrote earlier this week. “This could break the internet and seriously damage the Harris campaign with just 8 days until the election.”

Montel Williams Confirms “There Is No Tape”

Yesterday, Williams hopped online to set the record straight, making it clear that no such tape exists. “Wow, I hear a blogger I’ve never heard of got millions of views claiming someone is ‘shopping’ a sex tape of me [rolling eyes emoji] that will ‘break the internet.’ Let’s ‘break the internet’ w/ truth – there is no tape,” he wrote. “@KamalaHQ’s surge clearly has some people worried [shrug emoji].” While there’s no sex tape, Harris and Williams did have a brief relationship over two decades ago. Harris has since married Doug Emhoff while Williams has tied the knot with Tara Fowler.

Regardless, social media users periodically dig up old footage and photos of the two of them together, often accompanied by more unfounded speculation. In 2019, Williams addressed their relationship and clarified his feelings towards Harris. “@KamalaHarris and I briefly dated about 20 years ago when we were both single,” he Tweeted. “So what? I have great respect for Sen. Harris. I have to wonder if the same stories about her dating history would have been written if she were a male candidate?” What do you think of Montel Williams shutting down rumors about a sex tape allegedly featuring him and Kamala Harris?
