ASAP Rocky & LL COOL J Skate On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

Autumn is upon us, and with it falls a slew of hot new hip-hop releases to go through. For that, we’ve got our latest Fire Emoji playlist update ready, rounding up the best of the best rap of the week. Starting us off is a new album that perhaps you might not want to call a comeback, but it certainly feels like that more than ever before. LL COOL J finally graced fans with his new LP THE FORCE, his first studio project in 11 years. It’s got a lot of Q-Tip-produced highlights, but we’d recommend you start by checking out “Murdergram Deux” featuring Eminem.

Also on Fire Emoji is the brand-new single from ASAP Rocky and J. Cole, The Alchemist-produced “Ruby Rosary.” This track builds around cold, somber, eerie, but nonetheless dreamy piano samples, intoxicating and entrancing flows and vocal effects, and a lot of despondent but determined affirmations from both MCs. It’s an amazing teaser ahead of Pretty Flacko’s Don’t Be Dumb later this year. It’s also got some supposed Drake disses here and there, but you already knew that and probably don’t care at this point.

Elsewhere, we also wanted to shout out this new star-studded collaborative team featured on the track “Can’t Hold Me Down.” Pharrell, Lil Wayne, Lil Yachty, and Kyle Richh joined forces for the multi-media music division Doodles, which released this single as part of an EP for an animated special. Another welcome collaboration on Fire Emoji is the multi-lingual UK garage-inspired cut “Moi” from Central Cee and RAYE. Even though these combinations with drill might not sound fitting on paper, the atmosphere, tender melodies, and modular instrumentation here ends up fitting it all together successfully.

Meanwhile, Toosii and Gunna work together like bread and butter on “Champs Élysées,” a woozy and vibe-heavy trap cut. Finally, we’d be remiss not to mention Boldy James and Antt Beatz’s new single “Super Mario.” It puts the Detroit MC over his city’s traditional bounce – a rare combination these days for the Concreature. Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoj pick was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments below. Check the playlist out above and, as always, come back to HNHH for the latest great rap drops around the clock.

Ransom, Conway The Machine, & V Don Unite For 10-Track Effort “Chaos Is My Ladder 2”

Ransom and Conway the Machine had underground hip-hop fans chomping at the bit about a week ago. The unofficial duo put out a track called “Higher Killer” alongside Lloyd Banks and producer V Don. Since its release on August 30, the record has garnered quite a bit of traction, raking in over 76,000 streams. Fans felt they were picking up the scent of an upcoming collaboration project. Well, they were spot on the money because Ransom and Conway are here a week later with Chaos Is My Ladder 2.

Given the straight-forward nature of the lead single, we were predicting that this would be a fairly simple listening experience. What we mean by that is that we saw a scenario where the project would be pretty short and not toy with the listener. Give us what we need and nothing more. That’s exactly what we are getting from Ransom, Conway, and V Don. It’s 10 cuts and it clocks in at around 27 minutes. In all honesty, that’s what we were hoping for. While they are certainly great MCs from a rapping perspective, we don’t think they can differentiate things enough to keep things sounding fresh. Conway’s last project was a pretty good example of this. But overall, this is a tight and very fine tape from two of NY’s most prolific acts.

Eminem’s Publishing Company Has Reportedly Lost Its $40 Million Streaming Royalties Lawsuit Against Spotify

Snoop Dogg might not be impressed with DSPs payout. But that hasn’t stopped Eminem, or rather his publishing company, from going after what he’s owed.

Back in 2019’s the “Somebody Save Me” rapper’s co-publisher, Eight Mile Style, launched a lawsuit against streaming giant. Now according to Music Business Worldwide, the five-year-long $40 million case is partially over in favor of the stream.

In the decision, Judge Aleta A. Trauger shut down Eight Mile Style’s claim that Spotify “deceptively” asserted that it had the “proper licenses” for several Eminem tracks.

“While Spotify’s handling of composer copyrights appears to have been seriously flawed, any right to recover damages based on those flaws belongs to those innocent rights holders who were genuinely harmed,” she said. “Not ones who, like Eight Mile Style, had every opportunity to set things right and simply chose not to do so for no apparent reason, other than that being the victim of infringement pays better than being an ordinary licensor.”

Instead, Trauger ruled that Kobalt Music Publishing, another royalty collection agency, was seemingly at fault, a declaration Spotify’s legal team previously made.”

However, in a statement provided to the outlet (viewable here), Kobalt Music Publishing denied the accusation. “Spotify mischaracterizes the substance both of the services Kobalt provides to Eight Mile Style and Martin Affiliated in the United States, as well as the content of Spotify’s direct US licensing agreement with Kobalt,” said the rep.

Eminem has not issued a public response to the court’s decision.

Drake & Trippie Redd Meet Up With 1400cjay

When you think of unlikely but surprisingly welcome collaborations throughout the last decade, Drake and Trippie Redd’s “Betrayal” might stand out to you. Even though the two artists are pretty stylistically distinct for the most part, they linked up for a rage-inspired instrumental and held their own just fine. In fact, it was a bit of a preview for Drizzy’s For All The Dogs years later, and now we have another follow-up to this bond. The duo snapped a pic together alongside 1400cjay, which led a lot of fans to wonder whether or not they’re coming out with some new material together.

Of course, we all know the high praise that Trippie Redd has for Drake. He proclaimed “Back To Back” to be the greatest diss track of all time during an appearance on Complex‘s “GOAT Talk” series alongside Machine Gun Kelly. This emerged right around the time that the Toronto superstar and Kendrick Lamar were firing disses back and forth at each other, so maybe the conversation deserves a revisit. If you’re curious, MGK picked his own Eminem diss track “Rap Devil” as the GOAT diss song.

Drake, Trippie Redd & 1400cjay

Elsewhere, Trippie Redd has spoken on how Drake was an artistic inspiration for him. “My brother passed away when I was young, so that kind of gave me that drive to start wanting to make music,” he told The New York Times last year. “And I would sit at my grandma’s house and just rap on the stairs and be there for like two, three hours, just freestyling. We would have little things at school where we would have to write, so I would show my pen skills. I would make my school projects cool. Like, oh, I’m gonna write a letter to Drake. I literally did that too, I wrote a rap to Drake. I was in like seventh grade.”

Meanwhile, speaking of inspiration, Drake recently gave Lil Wayne his flowers for being his day one mentor. “We were so lucky to have the most supportive boss in the game always gassed us up,” he wrote over a repost of an old Young Money clip. As you can tell, this inspiration between artists is always a two-way street, and it always comes from something greater. One day, the next big rap artist will be talking about how much Trippie Redd inspired him to make it big.

The Weeknd Unveils Album Cover For “Hurry Up Tomorrow”

We are almost at the finish line, and as bittersweet as it is, it looks like The Weeknd will close out his trilogy – and moniker – with a bang. Moreover, he just unveiled the official album cover art for his new upcoming LP, Hurry Up Tomorrow. Much like its predecessors, After Hours and Dawn FM, it’s an image of the Canadian superstar’s face, but this one is much more “normal” and rudimentary compared to the blood-soaked and aged portraits of the aforementioned projects, respectively. As such, fans couldn’t be more excited to hear how these themes will wrap up with this third and final piece of the puzzle.

Furthermore, this adds to other Hurry Up Tomorrow details that The Weeknd shared with Billboard Brazil in their interview before his shows in the country this weekend. One of them is that he actually composed the “central song” of this new record in São Paulo. Abel Tesfaye also called something “Frankenstein,” and it’s a bit unclear if this is a nickname for the album as a whole or for this “central song” that the article mentions. Either way, this nickname indicates a fusion of a lot of different genres and sonic styles that still maintains a core and unmistakeable identity at its root.

The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow Cover Art

In addition, even though The Weeknd’s website doesn’t indicate a release date for this new album, we do have some hints as to when Hurry Up Tomorrow will come out. Well, we have one hint, to be honest. This is because of the physical pre-orders that he put up for this new LP, in addition to a pre-save option for digital streaming platforms. In the pre-order item description, it doesn’t indicate any release date. However, it does say that the physical copies will ship near the release date, which will apparently be no later than six months from today (Saturday, September 7). Hopefully he doesn’t take cues from his potential future collaborator Playboi Carti and actually drops the album.

Jokes aside, this rollout and piece-by-piece hype construction is very different to the Atlanta MC’s situation. Either way, we can’t wait to see what The Weeknd brings us next, especially with this artwork in mind. Will we get a more raw, simple, vulnerable, and definitive album building off of his mysterious, emotional, and trippy journey so far? Or can we not even fathom what’s in store right now? We can’t even tell which is the more exciting option.

Rich The Kid Grabs Rob49 For Extended Version Of “New Chanel Freestyle” Off His Recent Album

During the fairly stacked month of July, Rich The Kid put out his fourth full-length offering, Life’s A Gamble. There was a fair amount of hype behind the release, outside of it being his first solo work in four years. Perhaps the biggest reason is because of Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s involvement over the entire album. The VULTURES creators were credited as executive producers, which is always a benefit. Both have great ears for beats, and they didn’t run of out taste for the Georgia native. One of the best beats Rich The Kid selected was for “New Chanel Freestyle”.

Sure, the track only clocks in at 1:26, but SkipOnDaBeat was really in his bag with this one. The bass, kick drums, and 808s are mean mug worthy and it has an overall intimidating presence when it kicks in. After Rich’s verse ends, it certainly sounds as if there could’ve been another verse. Well, he’s doing exactly that this weekend, but it’s not coming from him. Instead, he brings on Rob49 to tie things together. See how the Louisiana native performs with the audio link below.

Sexyy Red Honors Rich Homie Quan During Her Show

Sexyy Red was one of many artists shocked by the sudden death of Rich Homie Quan. News of this broke on Thursday (September 5), the same day she had a “Sexyy Red 4 President” tour stop in Lincoln, Nebraska alongside her tour mate Kodak Black. The St. Louis femcee paid tribute to the late Atlanta icon’s memory by briefly playing his classic 2013 cut “Type Of Way.” While these two rappers never collaborated, interacted much if at all, and probably might’ve never met each other, it’s still heartening albeit tragic to see that the younger generation of hip-hop artists knows how special RHQ is and how saddening this loss is.

One small reason as to why this tragedy struck so many folks so deeply is that we will never get to see the reconciliation between Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug that they had spoken about and that fans dreamed of. “We do have a lot of music that hasn’t been released,” Quan had said in an interview before passing away later down the line. “But who knows what the future holds? First and foremost, it’s free Thugger. It’s free anybody that’s locked up, it’s free Lucci. It’s a touchy situation, so I try not to talk about it a lot. But I don’t know what the future holds, man, you know what I’m saying? I’m willing to have a conversation, and it’ll start from there.”

Sexyy Red Pays Tribute To Rich Homie Quan

Another recent and perhaps unexpected tribute to Rich Homie Quan came from Big Sean. “We got a lot of good memories together, you know what I’m saying?” he told TMZ on Thursday. “We’ve been in the studio, Treehouse Studios, you know, ATL. We had some great sessions, me and Rich Homie. He was one of one. He was one of one, for sure. His style… He was just very special, a very good heart. It’s such a tragedy hearing about his loss today.”

Meanwhile, Rich Homie Quan’s music is unsurprisingly experiencing a big boost these days. There are a lot of debates on whether or not these reflections and tributes are legitimate. Some rappers and other colleagues out there think that some folks are spreading fake love. But regardless of where it comes from, there’s a well-deserved grieving process right now through which fans and loved ones are personally honoring his legacy, impact, and memory.
RIP Rich Homie Quan.

Cardi B Teases New Album With Cryptic Hint

Cardi B has had a hectic past few months, but fortunately for her fans, there’s only more to come. Last month, it was revealed that she filed for divorce from her husband Offset after several years. Shortly after, she announced that she was pregnant with their third child. Nowadays, she’s also continuing to work on her highly anticipated sophomore album. For now, it doesn’t have an official release date, though Cardi does appear to be dropping hints.

Yesterday, the “Enough” rapper took to her Instagram broadcast channel with a cryptic message featuring the number 11. KenBarbie shared the news on Twitter/X, and Cardi retweeted the post, seemingly suggesting that the blogger could be onto something. It’s unconfirmed exactly what the number 11 means in this case, but it’s not the first time fans have seen it pop up.

Cardi B Drops Another Mysterious 11

For her BET Experience concert in June, Cardi also rocked a bedazzled jersey featuring the number 11. At the time, it prompted fans to speculate that this meant the album would be dropping in November, on the 11th day of a month, or even that the number could be related to the title somehow. It looks like fans will just have to wait and see what all of this means, and whether or not the project arrives this year as promised.

Luckily, she told her supporters earlier this month that she was ready to get down to business as she celebrated the success of her debut, Invasion of Privacy. “Album still sellin like good quality p*ssy,” she said at the time. “OKAY OKAY let me stop playing and drop this second album.” What do you think about Cardi B seemingly dropping hints related to her upcoming album? Are you looking forward to hearing it when it finally comes out? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Rihanna Catches Heat For Allegedly Ignoring Naomi Campbell At New York Fashion Week

Rihanna and Naomi Campbell have had beef rumors swirling around them for years now, none of which have really manifested into anything concrete. That being said, we don’t really blame folks for assuming that they don’t like each other given what little we have seen. For example, both superstars attended a New York Fashion Week event on Friday (September 6). The Dior partner went up to greet a man who was sitting right next to Campbell, and RiRi didn’t seem to acknowledge her at all. You can see this for yourself in the video down below, which many fans are treating as gospel.

Furthermore, for those unaware, Naomi Campbell denied that she and Rihanna had any sort of issues back in 2021. As for what the origin of this whole thing is, we’re not sure, although many assume that it’s just a competitive relationship in the worlds of media, fashion, and more. It’s far from Campbell’s only big-name celebrity interaction this year, though, which shouldn’t really be surprising considering her overwhelming fame. She sat front row with Kendrick Lamar (or rather, the other way around, since she’s the fashion icon here) for Chanel’s runaway earlier this year.

Rihanna & Naomi Campbell’s NYFW Interaction… Or Lack Thereof

Elsewhere, Rihanna doesn’t have to worry about people like Naomi Campbell when her husband A$AP Rocky is right there to sing her praises. “It’s crazy how we find balance with our chaotic schedules,” he told Billboard of their bond. “[The relationship] is going great. I don’t think there’s a more perfect person because when the schedules are hectic, she’s very understanding of that. And when the schedule’s freed up, that’s when you get to spend [the] most time together. It’s all understanding and compatibility.”

However, RiRi might have to make some major moves in her fashion-related businesses soon. Her CEO for Savage X Fenty quit after a year, instead taking a position at Victoria’s Secret. It’s unclear how this will impact Rihanna’s endeavors, and we still don’t have much news as to what the next steps are. If only there was a supermodel with decades of experience and plenty of style and business acumen to ask advice from…
