Rick Ross Discusses Possible Drake Reconciliation

Yung Miami recently hosted Rick Ross on her Caresha Please podcast, getting into a slew of topics around their lives and careers. Unsurprisingly, a big part of this discussion concerned his ongoing beef with former close collaborator Drake, which formed part of 2024’s Kendrick Lamar battle. At one point in the conversation, the Maybach Music Group mogul reflected on why their relationship soured, how he would characterize this development, and whether or not he sees them burying the hatchet one day. Considering how much great material they have together over more than a decade, we knew this question would come up eventually.

“Nah, I’m not going to say it’s business,” Rick Ross answered when Yung Miami asked if the Drake beef was personal or money-oriented. “He mentioned my name and that’s a no-no. Don’t do that. Especially when it ain’t about no real s**t. […] I enjoy that I can wake up every day and say BBL Drizzy or some more s**t while I’m smoking a joint, listening to the waterfalls and all that s**t, looking at the birds fly off. That s**t easy for me, but is everybody built for this? It most definitely could be a real thing.”

Rick Ross Addresses Drake’s Alleged Plastic Surgery On Caresha Please

Then, Yung Miami asked if Rick Ross would ever be down to have a phone call with Drake to settle their differences. After all, she brought up that Rozay mediated the Toronto superstar’s feud with Meek Mill. “I don’t know, it depend on how I feel,” he answered before doubling down on his plastic surgery claims against The Boy. “Me being boss, everybody don’t understand the opportunities they have,” Ross said of how he feels about their falling out. “Some n***as take s**t for granted. I don’t know what it is. Everybody that’s been loyal to me or been down with me, you know that’s something that I extend for the longevity of time.

“I just think when you not really from the streets, and really understand the way certain things work sometimes, you could take s**t for granted,” Rick Ross went on. “Then two months later s**t be looking crazy for you when you really could have just… This s**t just really be a phone call. A lot of this s**t be a misunderstanding. But when you jump out there, I don’t know homie.” They also talked about his fight with Drake fans in Vancouver, with him explaining why he lost and how things could’ve turned out worse for OVO die-hards if he had proper backup.

Kai Cenat Gives Shannon Sharpe Advice After Viral Instagram Live Blunder

Shannon Sharpe went viral on Wednesday afternoon, but not for reasons he was hoping for. The Hall of Fame tight end-turned-wildly popular sports commentator accidentally went live on Instagram while having sex with a woman. The internet was shocked, and Sharpe’s social media manager quickly issued a post claiming he was hacked. Of course, that was not true, and Sharpe addressed the reality of the situation on his Nightcap podcast with Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson that evening. He admitted that the live was accidental, and he was deeply embarrassed by what happened earlier in the day. After his initial apologies, Sharpe and Johnson got some jokes in, bringing some levity to the situation.

Twitch streamer Kai Cenat appeared on the Thursday evening episode of Nightcap, dubbed “The Roast of Shannon Sharpe.” The episode featured a rotating cast of characters, including Snoop Dogg, Cam Newton, and comedians Godfrey and Lavell Crawford. Cenat also made some jokes at Sharpe’s expense and gave him some advice so that he can avoid a repeat.

Kai Cenat Gives Shannon Sharpe Advice After Instagram Live Snafu

“Hey, Shannon, stop being so freaky, bro,” said Kai Cenat. “Next time, put your phone all the way in the next room, alright? Before you get that pu**y bro, put the phone in the next room, okay?” Sharpe jokingly responded that he’s going to leave his phone in the car. After Cenat left the stream, Sharpe made a few remarks in jest about Cenat’s height. “He ain’t even 5’5 […] Yeah, he’s about 5’3,” he said to Johnson.

This situation has been the source of many memes over the last couple of days, and Sharpe has been taking it in stride. After learning what happened on his Instagram live, he reached out to ESPN to let them know. ESPN decided that no disciplinary action would be made against him, likely because he was upfront with them about everything that happened. It is nice to see Sharpe be able to laugh at himself after such a blunder. Hopefully, he’ll be careful with his social media next time.

Lauren London Reveals How She Met Nipsey Hussle

Lauren London’s most recent podcast appearance on A Really Good Cry with Radhi Devlukia might give you just that. During their conversation, she recalled how she met the late legend Nipsey Hussle, with whom she would form a beautiful relationship with before his tragic loss. Even though this love story has a devastating ending, what has endured since then is a deep feeling of love, dedication, and constance that this recollection embodies.

“I do remember how we met,” Lauren London said of Nipsey Hussle. “I was on a set. At the time, he had dropped this Crenshaw mixtape that all the ladies on set were listening to. They were all from L.A., we were in L.A. on this shooting. I was like, ‘It would be really cool if I, like, got them his mixtape and all like, you know, the Crenshaw stuff.’ And so I had reached out to a friend of mine, Danny, like, ‘Hey, do you know Nip? Could you reach out and see if I can get a discount on some of this stuff? ‘Cause I’m kind of buying in bulk.’ He’s like, ‘Yeah.’

“So Nip never reached out,” Lauren London continued. “His manager then reached out to my friend. I didn’t get the discount, either. So I was like, oh, okay! *laughs* I guess he’s not trying to give me it, it’s fine. And so then, I bought the stuff, gave the girls their rap gifts. I end up following him on… I don’t even remember what social media it was. See, my memory is so wack. Maybe it was Twitter? Or… At the time, it was Twitter. I don’t know, I don’t remember. Instagram, maybe. So I follow him and he DM’d me, like, ‘Hey, thank you.’ Yeah, he was in my DMs. ‘Thanks for the support, appreciate you, send me your sizes so I can send you a personal box.’

“Then he gave me his number,” she concluded concerning Nipsey Hussle. “So then I text him, because I was like, I don’t do DMs. Yeah, I thought he was fine. First of all, me following him, I was like… He took the bait. *laughs* No, yes, I always thought he was very attractive. I actually had friends that knew him that were like, ‘I think you guys would get along!” Years before that. But, you know, I was just on my, like, single mom stuff.”

Pharrell Reveals He and Chad Hugo are Not on Speaking Terms

Screen Shot 2024 04 01 at 3.29.20 PM

The Neptunes are still a fractured unit. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Pharrell revealed that he and Chad Hugo are not on speaking terms, following a lawsuit earlier in the year.

“I always wish him the absolute best,” Pharrell said to The Hollywood Reporter. He added they are not on speaking terms, “”But I love him, and I always wish him the absolute best, and I’m very grateful for our time together.”

The conflict stems from Hugo’s accusations against Pharrell of attempting to gain complete control of their duo’s trademarks despite an alleged agreement to share everything equally.

According to a report by Billboard, Hugo’s legal team has raised concerns over Pharrell’s company, PW IP Holdings LLC, filing three applications to register “The Neptunes” as a trademark. Hugo’s lawyer, Kenneth D. Freundlich, highlighted in a legal filing that, throughout their 30-year history, both Hugo and Williams had agreed to divide all assets equally. Freundlich further alleged that Pharrell’s actions in excluding Hugo from the trademark applications amounted to fraud and bad faith.

Pharrell’s team, however, has refuted these claims, stating that they had reached out multiple times to involve Hugo in the ownership and administration of the trademark. Pharrell’s representative expressed surprise at the accusations and reiterated their willingness to ensure that both Pharrell and Hugo share ownership and administration of the trademark.

While attorneys for Pharrell acknowledged that Hugo co-owns The Neptunes name, Hugo’s lawyers argued that Pharrell’s company had attempted to impose burdensome business terms on Hugo regarding the trademarks. The specifics of these terms were not disclosed in Hugo’s filing.

It was revealed that Pharrell’s company had previously trademarked The Neptunes for musical sound recordings, with an application pending for clothing and merchandise. Hugo’s legal team hinted at possibly taking further legal action to void these trademarks.

The Neptunes, known for producing hits for artists spanning various genres, have left an indelible mark on the music industry. Their contributions have been widely celebrated, from working with the likes of Clipse and Snoop Dogg to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. Pharrell and Hugo were honored with induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

As the legal battle ensues, the future ownership and administration of the Neptunes trademark remain uncertain.

Lil Wayne on Not Being Selected for Super Bowl Performance: ‘It Hurt a Whole Lot’

H.E.R., Lil Wayne, The Isley Brothers Are Set To Headline 2021 One Music Festival

Lil Wayne has made his first statement after not being selected to headline the Super Bowl. Appearing in a video, Weezy F Baby thanked his fans for supporting him.

“First of all, I wanna say forgive me for the delay,” Wayne said. “I wanna say, first of all, I had to get strength. I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking. I wanna say thank you. I wanna say thank you to every voice, every opinion, all the care, all the love and the support out there. Your words turned into arms and held me up when I tried to fall back. That hurt. Hurt a lot. You know what I’m talking about. It hurt a whole lot.

“I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown and for just automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that was my position. So I blame myself for that.”

With widespread support that Lil Wayne should have the Super Bowl stage in NOLA, Drake posted images online. It is worth noting that Drake’s current foe, Kendrick Lamar, has the Super Bowl spot.

Kendrick Lamar’s selection as the Super Bowl halftime performer has rubbed members of the Hip-Hop community the wrong way. Many, including Wayne’s engineer, Marasciullo, believe it should have been Lil Wayne.

“Confused. Disappointed. Angry. But most of all, inspired,” Marasciullo wrote. “Will never again be in a position or have the 🐐 in a position where we are at the mercy of someone else’s decision. We will make the decisions.”

Kendrick Lamar will take center stage at the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show at The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, 2025. Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL made the announcement today, sparking excitement for the globally anticipated performance.

Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter, founder of Roc Nation, praised Lamar’s influence: “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision… His impact will be felt for years to come.”

Seth Dudowsky, Head of Music at the NFL, echoed this sentiment, saying, “Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar… Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop.”

Apple Music’s Oliver Schusser emphasized the excitement: “Apple is thrilled to bring this show, starring the absolutely incomparable Kendrick Lamar, to fans worldwide with Apple Music’s industry-leading Spatial Audio quality.”

Lamar, a Grammy and Emmy-winning artist and co-founder of pgLang, continues to redefine hip-hop, earning accolades like a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album DAMN. and his chart-topping collaborations earlier this year.

PgLang will creatively direct Lamar’s Super Bowl performance, which will be produced by DPS. Roc Nation’s Jesse Collins will serve as executive producer, and Hamish Hamilton will serve as director.

Apple Music’s ongoing partnership with the NFL and Roc Nation has already produced record-breaking halftime shows. With Kendrick Lamar at the helm, this year’s performance is set to be another groundbreaking moment in Super Bowl history.

Common Reveals He Overlooked Kanye West Due to His Drums

Elliott Wilson has released the third episode of his podcast, Elliott Wilson Experience, which features hip-hop icons Common and Pete Rock.

In this episode, Common opens up about his early interactions with Kanye West, admitting that he initially overlooked West’s potential stardom. “I’m victim too,” he shared. “Ye was trying to give me beats back in ’97, I had no idea. His drums weren’t there yet… Eventually, I was like come on, bro, save me.”

Common also discusses the newfound longevity of hip-hop artists, citing Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar as prime examples. He noted, “Two dudes be growing with their styles, like sounds on their albums. ‘good kid’ is not like ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ is not like ‘DAMN.’ Ye’s all his joints, ‘College Dropout,’ you can feel the evolution there.”

Reflecting on hip-hop’s aging, Common added, “A lot of people we looked at as GREATS didn’t keep evolving… But then you started getting new artists like Ye or what JAY did with 4:44. That’s one of his best albums to me; that’s showing maturity and evolution.”

The Elliott Wilson Experience podcast launched recently with an inaugural episode featuring NYC hip-hop artist Cash Cobain and will release weekly episodes featuring hip-hop talents, executives, and innovators via HipHopDX’s YouTube channel and on all streaming platforms.

VAYA’s New Song and the Angel of Transformation

VAYA’s New Song and the Angel of Transformation

In her latest musical endeavor, artist VAYA introduces us to “VEHUIAH,” a powerful new song inspired by the Angel of Transformation from Kabbalah. VEHUIAH, recognized as the first Angel in this spiritual tradition, symbolizes a call for profound change and spiritual elevation, themes that VAYA explores deeply in her new work.

The creative process behind “VEHUIAH” was marked by a profound personal experience for VAYA. She describes a pivotal moment at her alchemist’s table, where, between two heartfelt prayers, she received an urgent message of transformation. VEHUIAH manifested to her as a dynamic, fiery energy, igniting courage and guiding open hearts toward new beginnings. This encounter was more than just an artistic inspiration; it was a spiritual awakening, revealing VEHUIAH as a luminous warrior and a beacon of hope for a world struggling with disconnection and “NONE-LOVE.”

VAYA’s song reflects the urgent need for change in a society increasingly disconnected by technology and ephemeral pleasures. VEHUIAH’s message, as interpreted by VAYA, calls for a return to genuine human connection and spiritual growth. The creation of the song involved an intense and immersive process. Over a span of three weeks, VAYA recorded 53 tracks, fully dedicating herself to capturing the essence of VEHUIAH’s fiery intensity. The resulting piece serves as a testament to the resilience and passion required to keep the flame of life alive amidst modern challenges.

The task of channeling VEHUIAH’s energy into music demanded not only creative talent but also deep patience, dedication, and humility. VAYA notes that being a messenger of VEHUIAH involves precise communication and an understanding of how to effectively convey the Angel’s message. This role requires both wisdom and courage, reflecting the complexity of translating spiritual messages into artistic expressions.

The production of “VEHUIAH” includes contributions from a talented team of collaborators. Mike Fahey is working on the mix, while Yumi Sonoda, a Japanese videographer, is directing the accompanying video. Parisian jeweler Clara Jasmine is crafting pieces inspired by VEHUIAH. This collaborative effort highlights the diverse talents coming together to bring VEHUIAH’s vision to life.

An intriguing detail about the song is its duration—13 minutes and 13 seconds. The number 13 holds symbolic significance, representing the end of a cycle and radical change. This detail underscores the song’s message of transformation and the need to embrace love and spiritual growth.

In her reflections on the project, VAYA echoes Baudelaire’s sentiment, “You gave me your mud and I made gold from it.” For her, this project is a manifestation of the transformative power of love and a testament to the preciousness of human existence. As she continues this journey, VAYA remains dedicated to expressing messages of love and transformation through her music.

In addition to the new song, VAYA released instrumental versions of each Angelic piece, including MANAKEL INSTRU, ROCHEL INSTRU, and YEHUIAH INSTRU. These versions offer listeners a chance to experience the compositions in a new light, encouraging personal interpretation and creative engagement.

As VAYA prepares for the filming of the music video in Japan during the First Super Moon, she invites everyone to join her on this transformative journey. The video release of VEHUIAH is for the New Moon of November 1st. Through “VEHUIAH,” VAYA hopes to inspire a deeper understanding of love and its limitless potential.

VAYA’s “VEHUIAH” promises to be a profound exploration of transformation and connection, inviting listeners to embrace the Angel’s message and reflect on their own journey towards love.
