Ice Spice Catches Heat For Sharing Asian Edit Of Herself

Ice Spice is coming under fire on social media for sharing an edited photo of herself race-swapped. She posted the picture on Twitter while promoting her new song, “Think U The Shit (Fart).” The original selfie is the cover art for the single.

“Why is she making fun of asian people?” one user asked in response. Another referenced a recent Twitter trend, writing: “She’s trying to see what she would look like if she was black AND chinese.” The edit of Ice Spice appears to stem from a user on the site, @VLONEPREDATOR, who has been editing pictures in a similar manner.

Ice Spice Attends The BET Awards

Other replies brought up 1975 frontman Matty Healy’s controversial joke on The Adam Friedland Show in February 2023. Speaking with comedians Nick Mullen and Friedland, he jokingly referred to her as a “chubby Chinese lady.” Spice eventually responded to the drama during an interview with Variety. “When I had heard that little podcast or whatever, I was so confused. Because I heard ‘chubby Chinese lady’ or some sh*t like that, and I’m like, ‘Huh? What does that even mean?’” she said at the time. “First of all, I’m thick. What do you mean Chinese? What? Ice Spice Shares Edited Picture Of Herself

Ice Spice dropped, “Think U The Shit (Fart),” last Friday after teasing the single, earlier this month. On the track, she raps, “Think you the sh*t, b*tch? 21 Savage Freaks Out After Kai Cenat Corners Him With Snakes, Travis Scott Calls In To Place A Bet

21 Savage has been having a solid couple of weeks as of late. Overall, we say this because his album American Dream just came out. It has been number one on the charts for two weeks, and fans have been giving it rave reviews. Sure, it may have its fair share of haters. However, the album did a great job of showcasing 21’s talent and songwriting ability. Subsequently, he has been enjoying his success and living life to the fullest. This was evidenced by his appearance on Kai Cenat’s stream last night.

As we previously reported, 21 and Kai got into it while playing Madden. The two ended up wagering a whopping $300K. However, in the end, it was the rapper who got the money. This sent Kai into a rage as he destroyed his PC gaming setup. It was all very humorous and fans got a good kick out of it. However, during the stream, Cenat was able to get one over on the artist. As you can see down below, he surprised 21 with some live snakes, which sent the rapper into a tailspin.

21 Savage Does Not Play About His Phobias

The artist very clearly has a phobia of the reptile, as he ended up backing into a corner while trying to avoid touching them. He was holding up a box to defend himself, and Kai kept pushing. Although eventually, Kai decided to give up and move on with the stream. Later in the evening, Travis Scott called 21 Savage and placed a $10K bet on him to win in a game of 2K. All things considered, last night’s stream was huge for Kai, who continues to level up in regard to his guests.

JT Unveils New Single, Its Cover Art, & Release Date

At the beginning of January, JT, of the femcee rap duo City Girls, hinted at a single on her Twitter account. “Sideways is a song not a verse & in 2024 I want to go from ‘JT has good verses!’ to ‘JT make good songs !!’” It is always exciting to hear artists want to constantly improve and change the narrative around them. Many people had a lot of negative things to say about RAW, the City Girls’ most recent full-length. Low first-week sales in the single digits dug the hole deeper for them to crawl out of.

However, one bright spot from that record was JT’s solo song “No Bars.” A high-octane banger that was all gas and no brakes. In addition to that, fans were eager to hear what she could do as a solo artist. Especially with an R&B snippet that surfaced and some karaoke raps as well. It seems that the proclamation we referred to at the beginning is going to be the start of this new era for JT.

Fredo Rumored Sentencing In Dubai: What We Know

Throughout his career, the British rap star Fredo has faced several legal issues. However, those incidents typically happened on his home turf, and Fredo has now found himself in trouble in Dubai. Back in 2023, the UK rapper was rumored to be arrested after he was caught in possession of cannabis.

The rapper debuted in 2016 with his now-popular single, “They Ain’t 100.” However, he didn’t get to experience the song blow-up in real time as he was sent to jail. Fortunately for him, he beat the charges and was subsequently released. In 2017, another run-in with the law occurred but he has managed to stay out of prison since. It seems that his successful streak of staying out of trouble has come to an end, unfortunately, as reports claim Fredo has now been sentenced to prison in Dubai. Here’s what we know so far.

What Is Fredo’s Offence?

In late 2023, Fredo was on vacation in Dubai but unfortunately, he soon had a run-in with the law, ending his presumably blissful trip. According to reports from The Sun, authorities found the rapper in possession of cannabis and subsequently arrested him. Dubai has very strict drug laws, so the authorities reportedly wasted no time putting Fredo in jail after the discovery. The Sun reported on October 30, 2023, that he had been in jail awaiting trial since September.

Fredo has been penalized by the authorities for drug use before. In April 2023, he received a three-year driving ban in the UK. He had been speeding while driving. It was eventually discovered that he had used over the legal cannabis limit.

The Sentence

As aforementioned, Fredo is believed to have been in a Dubai jail since September 2023. It’s been speculated since the rumors emerged that the rapper could be sentenced to a few years in prison. Radha Stirling, the CEO of Detained In Dubai, an advocacy organization, gave a brief statement to The Sun, saying, “The most likely outcome for possession of cannabis would be one to two years in prison, it could be up to three years.” Stirling later added that if he were prosecuted with intent to sell or trafficking, Fredo could face upwards of 5 years in prison.

The “I’m Back” rapper’s case was expected to reach court this week, per Clash Magazine. Although on Monday (Jan. 29th) several online reports claimed that he has been sentenced to five years in prison, this has yet to be confirmed. Fredo nor his team have made public statements regarding the case.

Megan Thee Stallion Declares She’s Going On Tour In 2024 And Her Announcement Reveals Other Big News, Too

Megan Thee Stallion has clearly been building towards a new era with her recent singles “Cobra” and “Hiss.” Now, we have some more concrete information about what’s going on: Meg’s going on tour this summer.

On Good Morning America today (January 30), Megan Thee Stallion made the announcement, also indicating that her new album will be out by the time she goes on tour, too. She said, “Oh, we’re having the tour this year. The Hot Girl Summer tour is going to be 2024, summertime. I feel like I’ve never been able to be outside doing my own thing during the summer, since like 2019. So this is going to be the first time that I drop an album on time for the summer. I do want to give the hotties the Megan Thee Stallion experience.”

Dates for Megan’s 2024 tour have not yet been officially revealed. What we do know, though, is that the rapper will be at festivals like Bonnaroo and BottleRock Napa Valley later this year.

This news comes after she and Nicki Minaj have been embroiled in beef, although Meg has so far seemed unbothered by Minaj’s diss track “Big Foot.”

Yasiin Bey Admits Drake Is A ‘Talented MC,’ But That Doesn’t Mean He Takes Back What He Said About Drake’s ‘Pop’ Music

In an interview earlier this month, Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) said of Drake, “Drake is pop to me, in the sense like, if I was in Target in Houston and I heard a Drake song… it feels like a lot of his music is compatible with shopping. Or shopping with an edge in certain instances… It’s likable.”

That got some reactions online, including from Drake himself. Now, Bey has explained himself further.

In an Instagram Live broadcast yesterday (January 29), he said:

“Drake, if you’d like to speak to me directly, you can at any point. I reached out to [Dave] Chappelle, I actually reached out to you. I DM’d you. You are a very talented MC, but for me, I require more of myself and others than just talent or charm or charisma, particularly in times of urgent crisis. And what I would like to see, in terms of creators or creative people in the world, as it relates to our culture, is for people to connect with us beyond the jukebox or the dance floor.

A fair-weather friend can hardly be called a friend at all. The people who party with you: that’s cool. But will they show up for you when you’re at the triage?”
