Post Malone Shows Off His New Look After Dropping 55 Pounds

Often, fans need a reminder that their favorite artists are people just like them. Enter Post Malone, who has never been shy about sharing even the most mundane of his personal struggles. Last month, he sat down for an interview on The Joe Rogan Podcast where he talked about his pretty substantial weight loss. “I was like 240, now I’m like 185,” Posty revealed. He also revealed the method he used to do it, cutting out soda after various shows. “Yeah, shows, soda. Soda’s so bad. It’s so bad. But I’ll have a soda. I’m a bad boy. I’ll have a Monster Energy. But Celsius is so good, too.”

Post Malone also elaborates that he’s only human and sometimes will reward himself. “You know what, I had a great show, I’m feeling a little bit naughty. I’m gonna have myself coke on ice. So good.” In a recent series of pictures on Instagram, Post showed off his new figure and had fans discussing his health journey in the comments. “Chile I love you so much,” he said in the caption of the post. The top comment mentions his weight loss directly. “Let’s all give a round of applause for posty getting in shape!” the comment reads. It currently sits at nearly 7k likes underneath the post. Fans recently got the chance to see Post Malone perform in a raw and personal format. That came from his NPR Tiny Desk Concert where he teamed up with some impressive musicians. They delivered some of the rappers mega-hits in an acoustic format that delighted fans.

ACC Adds Stanford And Cal, Officially Killing Pac-12

The presidents and chancellors of schools in the ACC voted Friday (September 1) to admit Stanford, Cal, and SMU to the conference in 2024. This brings the east coast powerhouse to 18 full members, with 17 participating in football. However, the move also officially kills any hope that the Pac-12 brand would live on. Stanford and Cal were two of the four remaining Pac-12 members following a mass exodus earlier in the summer. While some discussions were had about rebuilding the Pac-12, it appears that the two prestigious colleges had other ideas. Previous votes had failed. However, NC State flipped their vote to support the move.

“We are thrilled to welcome three world-class institutions to the ACC, and we look forward to having them compete as part of our amazing league. Throughout the evaluation process, the ACC Board of Directors, led by [University of Virginia] President [James] Ryan, was deliberate in prioritizing the best possible athletic and academic experience for our student-athletes and in ensuring that the three universities would strengthen the league in all possible ways. Cal, SMU and Stanford will be terrific members of the ACC and we are proud to welcome their student-athletes, coaches, staff and entire campus community, alumni and fans,” ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips said in a statement.

Pac-12 Dies As ACC Grows

As mentioned, the move leaves the Pac-12 as the Pac-2 heading into 2024. The only teams left in the conference at the time of writing are Oregon State and Washington State. Those schools had been in talks with the AAC, also known as The American. However, per ESPN‘s Pete Thamel, those talks have broken down as a result of the news coming out of the ACC.

It’s the latest move towards collegiate football adopting a superconference model. The Big 10 and ACC will have 18 schools apiece in 2024. Meanwhile, the SEC and Big 12 will each have 16 schools from next year. If the two remaining Pac-12 schools join the nearest conference, the Mountain West, they will push league membership. All this comes as the collegiate football season kicks off in earnest over the next few days.

For example, an elementary school teacher recently went viral online for using the rapper’s “SkeeYee” catchphrase to calm her students down. Memori Peoples recently posted the interaction online, and some viewers love that educators are engaging with children in more fun, creative, and cooperative ways. On the other hand, others expressed concern over the St. Louis native being played to kids given her explicit content.

“If you see me and you tryna see wassup,” Peoples quotes from Sexyy Red’s hit as her class is talking amongst themselves in the clip. “SkeeYee!” they respond. “Day 2 of the school year!,” she captioned her post. “Each year I have different call and response because each class is different! Teacher Uses Sexyy Red’s “SkeeYee” To Engage Students

Moreover, it’s important to note that we don’t really have the full context behind this interaction. For one, Peoples seemed to imply that the kids just really like Sexyy Red, so this might not even be of her own design. In addition, it’s not like she’s playing “SkeeYee” in her class or quoting any lewd or inappropriate parts of it. Regardless, this will still be a heavy debate for many, but one that’s become unfortunately all-too-common for female expression in hip-hop. There’s a lot that the boys get away with without a fuss, and femcees always get the short end of the stick.

Still, this double standard failed to stop the 25-year-old from rising to the top of the game. With a new collab with Lil Durk on the way, it seems like she’ll continue this upward trajectory for the foreseeable future. LAYA Returns With Enticing 7-Track EP “Bet That”

LAYA is an artist who has been on the rise over these past couple of years. Back in 2021, she gave us her Um, Hello EP which had a feature from New York superstar Fivio Foreign. From there, she went viral with a couple of singles such as “Sailor Moon 2.0” and “Need 2 Know.” With these tracks, the artist has been able to show tremendous range as she delves into various genres with ease. It’s clear she can do it all, whether that entails rapped passages or some incredibly sung vocals.

Fans have been waiting for her next move, and on Friday, she blessed those supporters with a seven-track EP called “Bet That.” This short but sweet EP provides fans with a glimpse of the various genres she operates within. For instance, on the opening track “Bet That,” we get some incredible guitar work that crescendos into a full-blown solo at the end. In the midst of this, LAYA makes her presence felt all throughout the track, ultimately setting the tone for the rest of the EP.

LAYA Drops A Dope Collection Of Tracks

Songs like “F’d Up” and “Psycho Bitch” are further examples of what LAYA is able to do. On the latter, we get these funky basslines all while the artist gives us these psychedelic vocal lines that feel like you’re on some sort of acid trip. Its an experimental cut that makes us want the artist to give us a full-length psych-rock experience. If you are not familiar with the singer, than this album is a great way to build some familiarity. Hopefully, a full album is on the horizon.

Doja Cat And Lil Wayne Headline First Wave Of VMA Performers

September has officially arrived which means the MTV Video Music Awards are right around the corner. Often shortened to the VMAs, the show will be broadcast live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey on Tuesday, September 12. While the nominations made a stir when they were first announced earlier this year, what fans were really craving was news on who would be performing. Now, MTV has revealed a selection of those set to take the stage and they didn’t disappoint.

The biggest name of the bunch is Doja Cat. The rapper just released her new single “Demons,” the third from her upcoming album Scarlet. The song’s artwork and video caused quite a stir with fans for its demonic imagery. Those who are familiar with Doja Cat are expecting her to double down on that controversy with her performance. The other biggest name is Lil Wayne. After going on a feature run earlier this year the rapper just released his new single “Kat Food.” Both artists have a history with the VMAs with Wayne winning one and Doja multiple awards at the ceremony.

Even beyond those headliners the list of performers is impressive. K-Pop is well represented with TOMORROW x TOGETHER who just headlined Lollapalooza and Stray Kids, who dropped a number one album earlier this year both performing. Two of the biggest stars in Latin music Karol G and Anitta will also both be taking the stage. Karol G is fresh off the release of two new projects earlier this year.

Elsewhere in the lineup is Demi Lovato who is in the process of remaking many of her old pop songs with a rock twist. Maneskin, the Italian rock band who broke through in the US after winning Eurovision. He explained that their reconciliation could even make a difference in their home city of Chicago. “AS A GROWN MAN IM WILLING TO SIT DOWN WIT @600breezy and settle out differences like men,” he wrote. “To make change for Chicago but more important the world and the youth.”

Unfortunately, it looks like 600Breezy doesn’t have any interest in doing so. He responded, letting the rapper know. He threw some jabs in the mix, making it clear that he doesn’t think resolving their feud could make a change in the city. “Ay Yella, I’ma tell you one more time and it’s the last time I’ma tell you,” the artist said. “Stop messin’ with me, gang, and stop mentioning, bro.”

Tommie Lee’s Negative Drug Test Results Don’t Have Social Media Convinced After Recent Arrest

The cast of Love & Hip-Hop are obviously all fond of the spotlight, though lately, the headlines surrounding them have been more chaotic than anything else. Erica Mena and Bambi Benson were both arrested last month after getting too rowdy during a night out in Atlanta. Elsewhere, Tommie Lee was arrested on drug charges after authorities discovered what they believed to be cocaine on her person. Regardless of the allegations brought against her, the 39-year-old has insisted that she had epilepsy medication, and not cocaine, in her possession at the time.

“Stop this nonsense. We’re not going to keep trying to run with this very tired story,” Lee told social media followers after being taken into custody in Miami. “It’s not me, will never be. That drug doesn’t fit my aesthetic at all. STOP IT!!” she added while confirming that she would be taking a drug test. Earlier this week the reality star shared her results with the world, happily declaring that she had no coke in her system via Instagram. “The f**king neighbours done stole the results from the motherf**king drug test,” she noted, explaining why it’s taken so long to see how she did.

Country artist Morgan Wallen is known for pulling surprises on his fans (he recently shaved off his iconic mullet) and his Thursday night concert in Pittsburgh was no exception as the country singer mixed up genres a little bit at his show and brought out a surprise guest- Wiz Khalifa.

Wiz, a Pittsburgh native, has reportedly been a fan of Wallen’s for some time and has attended some of his concerts in the past as just a fan (taking obligatory post-show photos, obviously) and the two have become friends. On Thursday, the PNC Arena was already packed to its full 40,000-person capacity and going crazy during Wallen’s set when Khalifa appeared amidst flames onstage and started performing “Black and Yellow” with Wallen acting as sort of a hype man.

Wallen was in Pittsburgh as part of his “One Night at a Time Tour” while Wiz is preparing for the next leg of his own tour in September.

A few hours after sharing some highlights to his Instagram story, Wiz dropped a new single- “Oakland Originals,” a collab with Chevy Woods.

Jorja Smith Calls On J Hus And Lila Iké For Her Upcoming Album ‘Falling Or Flying’

Jorja Smith announced her second studio album, Falling Or Flying, back in May, and this week, she revealed the tracklist and features. The album will be 16 tracks long and feature Lila Iké and J Hus, whose album Beautiful And Brutal Yard she appeared on in July. The album will also include the single “Little Things,” for which she released a rave-set video in May.

She also released a video for the title track, “Falling Or Flying,” which you can see above. In the video, Jorja sings in an underground lab set up like a hospital room, with the lyrics evoking the pining restlessness that comes from her uncertain standing in an undefined relationship. While she’s unsure that investing would be worth it, playing it cool has its drawbacks as well.

Falling Or Flying, the album, is due 9/29 via FAMM. It’s Jorja’s first full-length project since 2018’s Lost & Found and follows the 2021 EP Be Right Back, which featured the singles “Addicted,” “Bussdown,” “Come Over,” and “Gone.”
