Your Old Droog Shares Unreleased MF DOOM Collab “Dropout Boogie”

The late MF DOOM is an irreplaceable figure that is sorely missed throughout the hip-hop community, yet there’s enough unreleased music from him that his presence continues to be felt to this day. Your Old Droog took to social media over the weekend where he announced a collaboration with MF DOOM was arriving this week. Today, he unveiled “Dropout Boogie” ft. DOOM with the song’s production handled by Edan. The song was be released as a limited edition 7-inch vinyl.

“This the first song I ever recorded with DOOM,” Droog said in a statement. “I remember getting the verse back and realizing that I had come full circle. That same night I drove to by my old community college where I used to listen to DOOM heavy back in ’07-’08 and I was in a semi-catatonic state playing that verse back over and over.”

Peep the record below.

Quotable Lyrics
Remember classmates, some of them bad apes
Hallway jokes to bathroom gang rapes
Property deface ass bet dice games for mad papes
Windows shatter, just blame the brown dude when the glass breaks
And thank the public school system for providing new landscapes

Quavo & Kendrick Perkins Trade Shots On Twitter

Migos are well on their way to release their forthcoming project Culture III but the rollout has been rather tame compared to their previous projects. “Straightenin” has been making the rounds but there’s been little music to gauge what Migos might be delivering this Friday. While Migos have promised to debut new music during their Kimmel performance on Wednesday, Quavo seems to also be capitalizing off of Kendrick Perkins’ recent comments.

Yesterday, the NBA vet fired shots at Quavo, describing the rapper as having “trash a$$ bars.” Perkins admittedly still feels some type of way about Quavo namedropping him on “Fuck 12.” Perkins explained that he didn’t appreciate the mention before Jose Guapo attempted to squash the beef. Quavo, however, had different plans. The rapper shared a selfie of Perkins with a fist emoji placed right under his chin. “Culture 3 Friday!” Quavo captioned the post.

Perkins responded to Quavo’s post earlier today where he continued to diss the Migos’ rappers solo career. “Thank God you’re back with the Migos because this photoshop uppercut is as close as you’ll ever get to a hit as a solo artist! Carry on,” Perkins tweeted in response to Quavo’s post.

In other news, Migos just shared the tracklist to Culture III which includes features from Drake, Polo G, Cardi B, and Future, among others.

Pharrell To Launch Private Schools For Low-Income Students In Virginia

Plenty of entertainers are active in the communities that helped shape and mold them into the successful artists they are today, and they often give back to marginalized and disenfranchised areas. Many host food drives, give away new clothing, sponsor food delivery services for the elderly, host camps for children, or even pay tuition or bills for students and families in need. Pharrell Williams has been intimately involved in various community service efforts in his home state of Virginia, and it’s reported that his nonprofit organization Yellow has plans to launch several private schools for low-income families.

The Virginia Pilot reports that the first school will open in Norfolk, specifically in the historic neighborhood of Ghent. “If the system is fixed and unfair, then it needs to be broken,” Williams said in a press release.

“We don’t want lockstep learning where so many kids fall behind; we want bespoke learning designed for each child, where the things that make a child different are the same things that will make a child rise up and take flight,” he continued. The schools will reportedly be named Yellowhab: “Yellow” after Pharrell’s non-profit and “hab” in tribute to The Martian film.

Tuition will reportedly “be covered by philanthropic support” and there aren’t any plans to make them public school in the future. The institutions will accept 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.

Applicants will be chosen by lottery and the requirements are as follows:

  1. Child must be a resident of Norfolk, VA (with proof of residency)
  2. Child is a rising 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader
  3. Child qualifies for the Federal Free and Reduced-price Lunch program, or meets family income requirements (proof required)

“Residents (are) being displaced from their homes with potentially limited housing options available which limits options for the children,” Stephanie Walters, Yellow’s director of engagement, told The Virginia Pilot. “We have a great relationship with the City of Norfolk and want to be a part of the solution in supporting the community with resources and support.”

J. Cole, Travis Scott, And 50 Cent Sign On As Headliners For Rolling Loud’s New York Festival

After being shut for more than a year, some of the biggest musical festivals are preparing for a strong return this year. But few will be able to match the energy Rolling Loud, as the platform just announced its third festival for the year. The Miami-born showcase will come to New York in the fall for a bout headlined by J. Cole, Travis Scott, and 50 Cent.

Out of the three acts, Cole is the only one who’s recently dropped a project, having released The Off-Season last month. Scott could have new music on the way, with his upcoming album, rumored to be titled Utopia, in the works. 50 Cent getting the headliner spot gives the New York rap legend an opportunity to put on a great show for his hometown.

Rolling Loud’s New York festival, which takes place during the weekend of October 28-30, will also feature a special guest performance from the state’s own Bobby Shmurda, who was released from prison earlier this year after spending almost seven years behind bars. Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna, Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, Lil Durk, Jack Harlow, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, Polo G, Moneybagg Yo, Joey Badass, Playboi Carti, Wale, Young Dolph, Griselda Records, and many more will also hit its New York stage.

Prior to the show, J. Cole is set to headline Rolling Loud’s Los Angeles festival while Travis Scott signed on as a headliner for its Miami festival.

Kim Kardashian Receives Stalker Fan Mail; Diamond Ring, Plan B Pill

Billionaire Kim Kardashian, in the midst of her high-profile divorce from Kanye West, now has more problems after a crazed fan sent her an extremely unsettling parcel. The package, intercepted by the Kardashian’s security on June 3rd, contained a real diamond engagement ring alongside an unopened container of Plan B contraceptive. The package never reached Kim herself, though her and her security have reason to believe they know who sent it.

Her team believes the package was sent by a frequent stalker of Kim’s who has shown up at her house numerous times in past months. He apparently visited the house for the first time in February where he asked numerous times to see her, but was turned away. He made his second appearance a few weeks ago where he showed up outside of her gate asserting that he was there to pick her up for dinner.

Though his social media accounts have been removed, he has a history of harassing her online as well. Some of his obsessive posts include a marriage certificate he made himself and another post that read:”Queen Kimberly… sitting up in thy big castle alone waiting for her Knight in Shining Armor.”

However, this package seems to be the last straw, and Kim and her team have begun the steps of filing a restraining order. Just a few weeks ago, the famed Kardashian successfully filed a restraining order for a different stalker who was posting videos of himself trying to figure out a way inside of her property.

Needless to say, Kim’s security team has a lot of work to do in deterring the increasing number if stalkers.

NBA Youngboy’s Lawyer Says Arrest Operation Was Called “Never Free Again”

NBA Youngboy is still keeping the streets hot with new music, even if he is locked up. The rapper found himself in a few legal cases since his claim to fame but his March arrest has left him behind bars until trial. As fans and peers continue to show their support for the incarcerated rapper, his lawyer has revealed a potential status offense during the rapper’s arrest.

According to documents obtained by TheShadeRoom, NBA Youngboy’s attorneys filed a motion for his pre-trial release. The grounds for their motion comes after they claimed they were “blindsided” by the arrest. The rapper’s legal team stated that they never received any sort of warning about the arrest that would’ve allowed for voluntary surrender. The biggest revelation in the motion is the claims that the arrest was simply done to bring down NBA Youngboy’s brand. The reason being the title of the operation which played off of the rapper’s name.

“The only evidence of their motivation behind this decision is the title of the operation, “NEVER FREE AGAIN,” a clear attack on to defendant’s brand “Never Broke Again” and related legal entities,” the motion reads. His attorneys argue that the operation title is a status offense.

The rapper is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of an unregistered firearm. We’ll keep you posted on more information surrounding YB’s case.

Fetty Wap Calls Himself The “SoundCloud Goat” & Rap Fans Are Divided

Rap Caviar‘s “Rap Mt. Rushmore” conversations have spiraled and we’ve received fan favorites from the East, West, and South, but now there have been talks regarding who should be included on the SoundCloud list. Picking just four artists to represent the height of the SoundCloud era may be difficult for some, but when RapTV shared their picks, Fetty Wap hopped in to claim his spot.

Days ago, RapTV included Lil Uzi Vert, Juice WRLD, and XXXTentacion. After sharing the photo to their Instagram, Fetty hopped in the comments to say, “SoundCloud days was lit 2015 I think I kick this sh*t off fr [crown emoji].”

In 2015, Fetty Wap was the rapper to beat after his debut single “Trap Queen” exploded on the scene. It was a “sleeper hit” that was later included on his debut album, and the single landed on the No. 1 spot on several Billboard charts. However, not everyone believes that Fetty deserves that Mt. Rushmore position.

“I’m really the SoundCloud Goat,” the rapper wrote over a screenshot of RapTv’s comment section. “Y’all n*ggas trippin [crying laughing emojis][shrug emoji] … maybe y’all forgot… Trapqueen the reason n*ggas started a SoundCloud [100 emoji].” That declaration stirred up opinions from Rap fans from around the world, so check out Fetty’s post as well as a few reactions below.

Do you agree with Fetty Wap? If not, who should take the fourth spot?

Offset Credits Migos For Making Trap Music Go Pop

Most genres of music have borrowed from trap at this point. Just as artists like Migos and Young Thug emerged, the sound staked its claim in EDM with artists like Baauer, RL Grime, and more remixing popular rap records into electronic smashes. However, in the years since then, hip-hop has grown more popular with trap music playing a vital role in shifting the music industry. Offset believes this is the result of Migos popularity.

During a recent interview with Billboard, Offset shared his thoughts on the popularity of trap music which he believes started becoming synonymous with pop music after Migos broke out. “We made this trap [style] go pop,” Offset told the publication. “They don’t talk about that. We made trap go pop talking about selling pounds and bricks, and we hit Billboard No. 1. Hip Hop artists weren’t going No. 1 like that, but now it just be ‘bang, bang, bang.’”

Migos influence has been evident from the jump. The triplet flow they helped reintroduce into modern rap has influenced just about everyone to emerge in the past 10 years. David Banner recently made that claim during an interview where he said that the ATL trio did not receive their proper dues for their impact.

 Neilson Barnard/Getty Images

“It’s a fact,” Offset said of Banner’s comments. “If you go back in time and listen to music prior to 2013, the cadence and the flow didn’t matter. It was more about the bars and what you’re saying. Now, people get away with not saying nothing as long as the cadence and flow are good, and I feel like we created that. We did. I remember when Quavo was most influential in 2013.”

This Friday, Migos will be revealing their new album, Culture III. Earlier today, they revealed the tracklist for the project including appearances from Cardi B, Drake, and Future, as well as posthumous verses from Pop Smoke and Juice WRLD. Check the cover art and tracklist for the project out below.

Migos’ ‘Culture III’ Tracklist Naturally Includes Cardi B And Drake, But Also Has A Justin Bieber Feature

Migos’ Culture III rollout is going as well as could be expected with a global pandemic to deal with. Shortly after releasing lead single “Straightenin,” the Atlanta trio revealed the release date with a Michael Jordan-style statement, then announced a festival in Las Vegas to promote the project before sharing the avant-garde cover art. Today, they presented the next piece of the puzzle, revealing the tracklist and features, which naturally include Offset’s wife Cardi B and their longtime collaborator Drake.

The project also boasts the dubious distinction of hosting two posthumous appearances from Juice WRLD and Pop Smoke, as well as a potentially star-making performance for Youngboy Never Broke Again, and an eyebrow-raising guest spot from Justin Bieber, who has previously worked with Quavo on his song “Intentions” and DJ Khaled’s “I’m The One” and “No Brainer.” Future and Polo G round out the features on an 18-song tracklist that surprisingly does not include “Rolling Stone,” the song Offset told Billboard is the one he can’t stop playing from the album. Perhaps it was cut at the last minute or maybe the name was changed (or Offset misremembered it); we’ll find out this Friday.

Culture III is due 6/11 via Quality Control and Motown/Capitol. You can participate in their first listen Thursday at apple.co/FirstListenMigos.
