Jake Gyllenhaal And The ‘SNL’ Cast Said Goodbye To Season 49 In Pure ’90s R&B Fashion

49 is big number. Tonight (May 18), Saturday Night Live closed out its 49th season with a bang. Though finishing 49 seasons is a huge milestone, tonight’s host Jake Gyllenhaal was seemingly hoping to be in the running to host the premiere of season 50, which will take place later this year.

But of course, Gyllenhaal was determined to make this finale special. Near the end of his opening monologue, Gyllenhaal broke out into song — a special rework of Boyz II Men‘s ’90s classic, “End Of The Road.”

During his cover, Gyllenhaal surprised the audience with his pipes, delivering strong vocals as he hilariously jokes that Pedro Pascal and Ryan Gosling were asked to host this episode before him (even though they have both previously hosted this past season).

While Gyllenhaal was captivating the audience with his singing, a few of the cast members elevated the performance.

Punkie Johnson, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson, and Devon Walker joined in, giving the song additional harmonies, taking it to the next level.

Although a hosting slot for the season 50 premiere of SNL is highly coveted, the quality of this opening monologue is going to be hard to match.

Kodak Black’s Attorney Labels Diddy’s Alleged Assault Video A “Leak,” Theorizes More Trouble Coming His Way

Kodak Black’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, weighed in on the legal implications of the new video of Diddy allegedly assaulting Cassie at a hotel in Los Angeles from 2016. He theorized that CNN, which published the footage, didn’t “obtain” it and instead it was leaked. In turn, Cohen thinks there’s bigger legal trouble headed the Bad Boy mogul’s way.

“Anyone who thinks CNN ‘obtained’ the video is a sucker,” Cohen wrote on Instagram. “This was a leak, and to me, it telegraphs the fact he’s about to be charged in a bigger case. This way, if Cassie is the star witness, they can rely on the fact she was essentially under his control. By the way, that is why this case should have been settled way before the lawsuit was filed.” In a comment on the post, he added: “One other observation is there is a reason he hasn’t left the country or flew anywhere the past month. My belief is they would arrest in a criminal complaint if he flew anywhere.”

Cohen isn’t the only one with theories as to the reasoning behind the release of the video. 50 Cent made a similar remark while sharing the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office’s statement on the video on Instagram. The department revealed that, due to the statute of limitations on assault, Diddy won’t be facing any charges regarding the incident.

50 Cent Theorizes Why Diddy’s Alleged Assault Footage Was Published

50 Cent shared a theory regarding the timing of CNN putting out the viral video of Diddy appearing to assault Cassie on Friday. The clip, which stems from 2016, shows the Bad Boy mogul seemingly grabbing his then-parter from behind, throwing her to the ground, and kicking her. Shortly after CNN published the video, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office put out a statement explaining that the statute of limitations on assault has passed and in turn, Diddy won’t be facing any charges.

50 shared the statement on Instagram, on Saturday, adding in the caption: “This is why they put that tape out, they know they can’t charge him with what we saw, but they know we can’t unsee what we saw.”

As for the D.A.’s statement, the office admits that the video is both “disturbing” and “difficult to watch,” but that they can’t do anything. It adds: “If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would be unable to charge as the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted. As of today, law enforcement has not presented a case related to the attack depicted in the video against Mr. Combs, but we encourage anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it to law enforcement or reach out to our office for support from our Bureau of Victims Services.”

Layzie Bone says he isn’t enjoying the battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake and says hip-hop beefs in general are “counterproductive.” He discussed the feud during a recent appearance on The Maikon Show as caught by HipHopDX.

“I totally don’t like [Kendrick and Drake’s beef] because I’m a fan of both of theirs,” Layzie began, “I love Drake. I really, really admire Drake, I think his wordplay is immaculate. The music he put out is dope. I love Kendrick Lamar. Really love Kendrick Lamar. I would rather see them come together as a force as opposed to tearing down. I know a lot of people say [Hip Hop] was built on beef and all that – yeah, cool fine and dandy but I saw what that did to N.W.A. I’m cut from that cloth. I was fortunate enough to be a kid on the block living that life, that story they was telling. Having that be my favorite group and then that time they spent beefing and wasting.”

He continued: “I also got to see Eazy-E wanting to put his group back together but they couldn’t because they wasted so many times and he ended up passing away. I saw what it did to Biggie and Pac. It’s divisive. To me, it’s counterproductive to where we could really be. It’s cool, I could battle rap. I could write a rap about you and what I think is funny and make people laugh or humiliate you and try to make you seen in a light that you don’t wanna see yourself in. But I don’t feel like… Maybe I’m older. But it’s not a place that I wanna be in because if you really gon’ beef, I think you should try boxing or MMA or something like that. Drake Lost More Than $500,000 On Tyson Fury’s Loss To Oleksandr Usyk

The biggest heavyweight fight in a very long time took place on Saturday in Saudi Arabia, as undefeated four-belt holder Oleksandr Usyk faced undefeated lineal champ Tyson Fury with the undisputed heavyweight crown on the line.

The fight lived up to the billing, with the two champs impressing at different stages of the fight. Fury, the favorite coming in, looked like he was taking control in the middle rounds until a stunning flurry from Usyk in the ninth round flipped the bout on its head. Usyk rocked Fury with a left that he didn’t see coming, and then chased Fury around the ring, battering him with punches and bouncing him off the ropes before the referee stepped in for an 8-count. Fury would finish the fight, but that 10-8 round was the difference in a Usyk split decision win and a split draw on the cards, giving the slight underdog the win and all five belts.

That ninth round effort will live in the minds of many for some time, with Drake being among them for the wrong reasons. Prior to the fight, Drake posted to Instagram that he had a $565,000 bet on Fury to win, and for a long time that looked like it had a good chance to cash until that ninth round changed everything.

Drake is no stranger to taking some losses this month, as his battle with Kendrick Lamar was a resounding majority decision win for K Dot in the eyes of the public. He tossed a little over half a million onto the fire by backing Fury, as a tough May continues for The Boy.

Diddy’s Former Assistant Wasn’t “Surprised” By Alleged Assault Video

Suzi Siegel, a former assistant of Diddy’s, says she wasn’t surprised by the video appearing to show him assaulting Cassie at a hotel in Los Angeles in 2016. Siegel sat down with CNN for an interview after the outlet published the footage on Friday. It shows Diddy seemingly throwing Cassie to the ground and kicking her violently.

Siegel worked with Diddy from 2008 to 2009. She noted that she “never saw him speak harshly to her or be abusive toward her or anything like that.” Despite that, she added: “I rode in limos with them, I went to parties with them. I guess what I would say is, even though I never saw anything that could corroborate what’s in that lawsuit and what we just saw, there was not one cell in my body that was surprised.”

She continued: “I would say that I was around him a lot and I got a feeling for who he was. I didn’t see anything that could get him in trouble. But I think that [there’s a] power dynamic in a situation like that — especially her, at the beginning of her career, so young and beautiful and talented.” Siegel concluded: “Obviously, I saw it with the rest of America today. King Combs’ girlfriend, Raven Tracy, shared pictures from their trip to Brazil on Instagram, earlier this week, as CNN published a video of Diddy appearing to assault his ex-partner Cassie at a hotel in 2016. In one post caught by The Shade Room, Tracy showed off Combs laying out on the beach with the caption: “Ofc ty to my mannnn.”

When The Shade Room reshared the posts, fans in the comments section were not amused. “No need to try to flex sis. We’ve already witness what comes along with that life! We’re not interested! Be safe out there,” one user wrote. Another joked: “I know the Combs’ publicist are sick of them.”

Prior to the release of the security footage, which seemingly shows Diddy grabbing Cassie, throwing her to the floor, and kicking her, King came to his father’s defense on a song titled, “Pick a Side.” He dropped the track, last weekend. “I dare one of you n****s scream out no Diddy,” he raps at one point. Later, he targets 50 Cent, adding: When all they had was 50 Cent who put the city on the map? stop lyin’ Pop’s been hated on by many men and n***a, that’s fine / They gon’ try to stop these m&ms and they gon’ die tryin’.”

Appearing on The Og Talk Podcast, Meech discussed his highly publicized relationship with the singer. In doing so, he explained of their split: “It was just, we just grew apart. I still got love for Summer, you know? She’s a good girl. No bad blood, no nothing.”

When RapTV shared a clip of the remarks on Instagram, many fans in the comments section brought up the rumors he was unfaithful in their relationship. “Bruh, but the fact is he cheated on her multiple times,” one user wrote. “Got him going on a bar with two other on a tweet. Got snaps of it it captured on my story. Like dude be real be a gentleman.” Others brought up the viral excuse he had for one instance in which he claimed to have been helping his cousin bring home groceries. “I can’t help my cousin bring in the groceries?” one top comment reads.

Rumors about Meech and Walker beginning to date kicked off back in April 2023. They made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2023 BET Awards. By August of the same year, cheating accusations began swirling online and the two seemingly split. However, in November, Meech made a remark about his girl being pregnant which many fans took to mean Walker. He later clarified on The Morning Hustle that the comments were taken out of context. “No, I don’t got no baby [on the way],” Meech explained. “…Yeah I was playing on that video… They took a video of me playing around and made it into something.
