Playboi Carti teams up with Houston rapper Travis Scott for their collaborative track and video, “Backwoods.”

The visual showcases the two rappers performing in a corporate building and beside a luxurious black SUV. The catchy and energetic song highlights their chemistry and further solidifies their positions in the hip-hop industry.

Boosie Forgives Rod Wave, Plans Legal Action Against Kodak Black & YG In Recent Feud

Kodak, Boosie, Rod Wave

Despite recent back-and-forth disputes, Boosie has taken to social media to express his willingness to collaborate with Rod Wave. In addition to forgiving Wave, the Louisiana native revealed his intentions to pursue legal actions against fellow rapper Kodak Black. Boosie has also recently called out YG for the same situation.

Boosie Rants On Social Media

On Tuesday, Nov. 21, on his Instagram live, Boosie made it clear that he’s open to working with Rod Wave, hoping to resolve their disagreements through musical collaboration.

However, this conciliatory gesture doesn’t mean the “Set It Off” rapper plans to back down in his legal battle against Kodak Black. To add to the mix, Boosie has now called out YG for his song, “Who Do You Love.” The Badazz rapper stated on his Instagram:

“Check ya DM @yg MY G SO WE CAN TAKE CARE THIS ‼

Boosie continued:

“I aint tryna break no nigga pockets. Im a business man. Im fair game. Just want my lil cut bro. Say he was gon get back at me. He aint hit me back yet. That was earlier this morning so hopefully he get back to me.

Before The Consensus

Boosie previously aired his disappointment with Rod Wave for sampling his song “Long Journey” without authorization, adding him to the list of rappers he intends to sue.

The Louisiana rapper didn’t stop there, pointing out that other artists had also used his music without permission. He emphasized the importance of proper compensation and recognition in the business of music. Boosie stated:

“Rod Wave Did it the best no cap…. Rod Wave ain’t the only one . Y’all better do y’all research. Rod Wave ain’t the only one. Lot of people got paper work on the way. It ain’t just Rod Wave. And it’s crazy cause all of em name it the same song.  Nah I ain’t in my feelings. I’m smiling. I ain’t mad. I love when they do that shit. When I hear people done took my shit and sang my shit and put it on records , they giving me my flowers you know. It’s just you gotta compensate me too. It’s a business you know? Just like you do everybody else. They supposed to reach out and be like “man we need to give you your writer’s share, your publishing on this record…”

Rod Wave Responds

Rod Wave responded to Boosie’s claims, expressing his willingness to meet and resolve the matter without the need for a lawsuit.

Wave made it clear that he respects Boosie’s talent and was even prepared to provide fair compensation. He further pleaded his willingness to do right by Boosie and took the plea to his Instagram stories. The “Turks and Caicos” artist stated:

“Man this shit got to stop. You ain’t got to sue no nigga like me man. Ima pull up. Fuck you talm bout suing me. I’ll pull up in you bro. Tell me a number. Tell me a real number though. Ima pull up to make sure you straight. You don’t got to sue me…. “ On my momma boosie big bra I fw ya tell me a real number yeen even gotta do all dat tell me a number ima pull up and bring it to you!!”

However, Boosie wasn’t convinced and defended his decision to take legal action, highlighting the business aspects at play. He responded to Wave via Twitter(X), and stated:

“How is it foul? Its buizness n you know that. You aint go do that to no other major label without compensating them with they splits why do it to a ni*** you looked up too. U expect me to let u take my kids publishing gtfoh stop playing victim my ni*** is u go sample no limit.”

Boosie Goes In On Yak

In addition to his disputes with Wave, Boosie called out Kodak Black for sampling his song “Let Me Ease Your Mind” without permission. Boosie voiced his disappointment on Twitter, lamenting the lack of fair business dealings between them. The “Set It Off” rapper stated:

“DAM @kodakblack EVEN THO WE FELL OUT WE COULDA DID FAIR BUIZNESS”

Although Kodak has yet to respond, Boosie’s intentions to pursue legal action are crystal clear.

Fans have eagerly weighed in on the situation. One fan (@fyee.ang) on instagram stated, “ Definitely should’ve got that figured out w Boosie first not wait til you get caught up. Mfs just have no respect yall want boosie to spare rod but rod ain’t spare Boosie dropping dat shit and aint pay no dues especially when u up no excuse.”

Another fan (@j.holiday4) stated, “I mean Boosie ain’t told no lie. That’s just like yall go Gucci and pay the price but then as your friends for a discount. It’s the principle not even the money. If he wouldn’t do it to Diddy or Michael Jackson then why do it to Boosie. He know how business work and still decide to sample without the proper protocol and this is coming from a die hard Rod fan.”

Rod Wave’s Unoriginal Flow?

This wouldn’t be Rod Wave’s first time swiping lyrics and Melodie’s.

One user (@RealTwanBrown) on Twitter(X) called out Wave for also swiping Jay-Z’s lyrics from “Song Cry” into his “2019.” The user stated, “See Boosie was one thing but now I think it’s time for legal action lol son card getting pulled cmon Rod Wave.”

In addition, Rod has also taken lyrics from artists such as Drake and Tupac.

Before The Lawsuit

Seems like Boosie may have a bullseye on Yak’s back. Boosie had aimed at Kodak Black in a diss track titled “Ungrateful.” In the song, the Baton Rouge rapper criticized Kodak for working with someone he considers a “snitch,” referring to 6ix9ine’s cooperation with law enforcement in his 2018 RICO case.

Boosie vs Torianna Hatch

Boosie is no rookie when calling others out. In August 2023, Boosie dropped a diss track that addressed the deteriorating relationship between him and his daughter. The track came after a recent social media war in July 2023, where the Louisiana rapper took back the pink Benz he had gifted his daughter for her birthday, sparking a wave of backlash.

GloRilla Faces Lawsuit For Unauthorized Sample

On a similar note of facing a lawsuit for unauthorized use of music, New Orleans rapper Ivory Paynes had filed a lawsuit against Memphis rapper GloRilla and producer Macaroni Toni, alleging that they used “key elements” from his 1994 song “Street Of The Westbank” to create GloRilla’s hit song “Tomorrow” without permission. Paynes had named Collective Music Group (CMG), Warner Chappell Music, and Sony/ATV Music in the lawsuit.

Boosie Badazz Calls Out YG For Allegedly Interpolating One Of His Songs Without Asking

Boosie Badazz has been getting even recently with artists who are sampling and interpolating his work without permission. It started earlier this week when he claimed he would be filing a lawsuit against Rod Wave. Allegedly the lawsuit will reportedly revolve around Rod’s new song “Long Journey” which Boosie claims is a take on his 2010 track of the same name. But he wasn’t done there. In a following rant, he doubled down on his allegations against Rod while also calling out Kodak Black, who he’s beefed with in the past, for similar reasons.

In this instance, Boosie called out Kodak for his song “Eaze Your Mind” which he claimed took a little bit too much creative liberty with his own track “Let Me Ease Your Mind.” Now Boosie is picking a third target, once again taking aim at another rapper for borrowing his work and calling them out on Instagram. This time it’s YG and more specifically his song “FTP.” Boosie claims that the song queries from Boosie’s feature on the YUNG SNAPPA song “Fk Da Police.” It’s unclear at the moment whether or not any actual legal filings have been made in relation to the copyright issues. It’s also unclear if YG has even been made aware of Boosie’s grievances yet. Check out the songs side-by-side below.

Boosie Badazz Calls Out YG For Sampling Him

Correspondingly in the comments of a repost of Boosie’s original comments, fans express their confusion. “How are all of these rappers sampling without permission, pretty BOLD!! Does Boosie not own the rights to the music cause ain’t no way?” one of the top comments on the post asks.

Elsewhere in the comments, other fans speculate on an answer. “I’m trying to tell yall Boosie don’t own none of his music. They are getting this music cleared from the owners which ain’t him,” another top comment reads. What do you think of Boosie Badazz calling out YG on top of Rod Wave and Kodak Black? Let us know in the comment section below.

YG Responds To The Man Who Called Him To Take Down Post Of His Alleged Baby Mama

YG might be getting into one of the more unique storylines of 2023. Quite frankly, it is surprising, considering the fact that he remains fairly clear of the media. However, that all turned on a dime and now he is in some sort of beef with a man from the California area. The fella’s name is Andre Lowe Jr., and he is a content creator from San Diego. According to his bio on Instagram, he raps and does comedy. From that alone, this all looks to be fake from the outside.

This all began several hours ago when Andre left a message for the California rapper. YG had posted a photo on his Instagram of him at some strip club with money all around a stripper on a pole. That woman is “Andre’s baby mama.” He reached out to the hitmaker politely asking him to take down the post in respect for the relationship. However, if you do some deeper digging, it seems that he is totally lying.

There are a few people who do not seem to be seeing that it is a ruse. But, it is a little hard to tell what to believe at this point. YG caught wind of Andre’s pleading video and he included it in a new post. The first image is just the rapper with some red classic cars with this caption, “🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴” Andre was in comments section, “really getting angry” with him. “BRUH! So you really not about to take it down????????? I’m Fina get mad.” Joey Bada$$ is also getting involved and he seems to be buying all of this. “He should’ve kept that s*** to himself ! ain’t nobody know that was ya baby mama till you spilled the beans 😂

What are your initial thoughts on YG’s vague response to the man who asked him to take down the Instagram post of his alleged baby mama? How do you think this will all play out? Do you believe that this is a real beef brewing? We would like to know what you have to say about all of this. YG Posts A Man’s Baby Mama On His Instagram, Gets Asked To Delete The Post: Watch

California rapper, YG, is in the midst of celebrating his recent collaborative record with another West Coast pal, Tyga. Hit Me When U Leave The Klub: The Playlist, dropped right at the end of September, featured some rowdy singles that emit the energy of the Klub. One of which was the fire team-up with Lil Wayne on “Brand New.” While Tyga and YG brought it, Wayne’s verse broke the internet, even getting Eminem jealous. Other than that, the My Krazy Life artist has remained pretty quiet, staying out of the headlines. However, that seems to end today after this wild incident with a random man on Instagram.

That man’s name is Andre Lowe Jr., who appears to be a comedian and skit creator. He also makes music and he resides in San Diego. YG recently posted a picture of him at some strip club with a woman performing on the pole. In the comments section under the rapper’s post, a lot of people were commenting something along the lines of, “THATS MY BABY MAMA TOO‼ Take this down NOW!!!” There is a slight chance that YG was in cahoots with Andre to make this a joke, but it is not for certain.

Regardless, Andre took the gag step further. He did so by making a video politely asking the hitmaker to take down the post of “his baby mama.” No Jumper shared the message from the content creator’s account and in their comments section, a lot of fans were debating, even going as far as to say that Andre is at fault for having a kid with a stripper. However, it is all a ruse. If you go to the comments under the San Diego native’s post, everyone is dropping “
😂” emojis.

What are your initial thoughts on YG posting this man’s baby mama? Do you think the man handled this the right way by posting a video on social media? Or, is there another underlying issue here? Tyga & YG’s ‘Hit Me When U Leave The Klub’ Is What A Joint Project Should Be

When Tyga and YG announced that they were teaming up for a joint project at Rolling Loud earlier this year, I admit I was eager. Hometown pride aside, YG and Tyga are two of artists left from the blog era who have consistently shown improvement on each project. Tyga’s last project, Legendary, was an overlooked gem in 2019, while I would take YG’s I Got Issues over the other, more highly touted album from a Compton rapper that dropped last year.

The reason is simple: They both know what they do well and they don’t try to do too much else. Truly, there is not enough of that “stay in your lane” mentality in rap music these days. It often feels like every new rapper wants to be a capital-A “Artist” or a rock star, and while diversions from the beats-and-rhymes tradition like Lil Yachty’s Let’s Start Here are fun and interesting in doses, there’s an elitism to those artists’ insistence they aren’t just rappers.

What, exactly, is wrong with being “just” a rapper? Rap music blew the ceiling off of pop culture, reshaping society in its image. It was the most dominant genre in popular music for longer than it was acknowledged for it. It changed the face of advertising, fashion, film, politics, television, and more. I get it; Drake and Kanye West are globally-recognized household names. But T.I. and Ludacris are doing just fine, thanks.

Which is why Hit Me When U Leave The Klub, the joint “playlist” from two of Compton’s longer-tenured second-generation hip-hop stars, is so valuable. It asserts — efficiently, at just 14 tracks, and effectively, with at least 11 of those tracks being certified bangers — that staying in your lane can be profitable and fulfilling too. Someone has to make the music that makes the clubs go up; it might as well be them.

Especially because that’s what they’ve done so effectively individually for so long. Both Tyga and YG took their time figuring what works for them, so why fix what isn’t broken? Both rappers’ breakout singles — “Coconut Juice” for Tyga and “Toot It And Boot It” for YG — belied their individual talents for making uptempo, ratchet dance anthems; both found their grooves in large part thanks to collaborations with Mustard, whose production supercharged their respective comeback hits and helped make them a fixture of radio in the last decade radio mattered.

Since then, both have seen their popularity rise and fall, but they’ve always bounced back; YG’s highest-charting single came in 2018 with “Big Bank,” a decade after his debut, while Tyga came roaring back in 2018 with “Taste.” Their 2019 collab “Go Loko” was, incidentally, the last time either went double platinum with a straight rap song since and likely laid the groundwork for their chemistry on Hit Me When U Leave The Klub. (YG went 3x platinum alongside Bay Area singer HER with “Slide” while Tyga’s Blxst collab “Chosen” was certified platinum — both R&B songs featuring rap verses.)

“Go Loko” is the baseline and the North Star for the musical direction on Hit Me, with most of the album following a similar formula of the stripped-down, post-hyphy club thump that has dominated the LA underground for the past decade or so, with boastful verses about money, sex, and the occasional gangland shootout. Wisely, they stay away from a bunch of the latter and stick to the more aspirational topics, with beats that rarely drop below 90 bpm. Again, if it works, it works, and they’ve long been aware of their strengths.

That isn’t to say they don’t try a few new things too. The main difference is a clear focus on writing; in the past, both boasted that they rarely put pen to paper when conceptualizing their songs. While this often resulted in a freewheeling aspect that really worked for their turn-up anthems, it also led to an unfortunate assumption among many rap fans that they couldn’t rap well. Hit Me dispels that notion with verses loaded with slick wordplay and clever turns of phrase that might surprise those who’d written them off at the nadir of their respective careers.

And while R&Bass experiments like “PARTy T1M3” and “Boachella” aren’t great, singles like “West Coast Weekend,” “Platinum,” and “Brand New” present Tyga and YG at their best, and the remaining tracks could all easily be singles themselves. Limiting the guest list to just three fellow rappers — Blxst, Busta Rhymes, and Lil Wayne — lets their chemistry shine, and they have plenty of it. No, there’s no salient social commentary aside from autobiographical accounts of life in inner-city LA and neither does much crooning, but again, this is a feature, not a bug. Sometimes, you just want to hear two of rap’s finest trade bars.

The recent wealth of collab projects bears this idea out. Personally, I’ve always loved rappers getting together for quick-hit albums and EPs that clearly stem from their chemistry and friendship (certainly, more than the endless array of diss records and “beef” that much of the fanbase seems to love), but the fact that they’ve always needed to feel like “events” has made them harder to enjoy. It’s hard to live up to Watch The Throne or What A Time To Be Alive (which barely lived up to itself). Hit Me When U Leave The Klub offers an example of the form that seems more sustainable and exciting. There’s a wealth of possibilities for further entries to the joint album canon — this one is a fantastic starting point.

Hit Me When U Leave The Klub is out now via Last Kings Music / 4Hunnid Records / EMPIRE.
